Beware of ULTRA STAMINA MOD - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Last night I just put my ZU to ultra stamina mod, after few hour, battery is out of power and device shuts down properly. When I charged and boot the device, most of my apps was missing and device can not go out of stamina mode. I put the phone to stamina mode and back again. Default launcher is back but apps and configurations are still missing. Hard reset the device no change.

i also tried ULTRA STAMINA MODE.. IT'S a new feature.. most apps will be deactivated while you are on ULTRA STAMINA MODE..
I'VE ATTACHED SCREENSHOTS.. EVERYTHING WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL WHEN YOU TURN OFF ULTRA STAMINA MODE

My stamina mode is always on. Never had those problems mentioned. Maybe it's the way it was setup that's why it was misbehaving.

I haven't used it, nor do I plan on using Ultra stamina mode, because a friend killed his ZL using Stamina mode. Software or hardware bug ? is causing this .

Never had a problem with stamina mode, and ULTRA stamina mode is programmed to do just what the OP described: provide the basics (apps/functions) with which you can communicate with the world (supposedly in case of need and in case you just have, say, 10% of battery).
You don't need the phone to sync, you don't need the Facebook or Twitter or WhatsApp app.
That's just what it does.
It basically turns your Ultra in a Nokia 3310 with a 6.44" screen. ?

Yep! stamina mod is working fine, and I understand about the ULTRA stamina mode, problem is "device can not go back to usual state when I turn the ULTRA Stamina mode OFF".
I do it again, I put phone to Ultra stamina mode (only few icons apear on the screen on black wallpaper with a clock that shows available standby time, thats fine), then I turned the ultra stamina mode off, device restarts and wallpaper still black, launcher is back but apps and settings are missing. Can make calls but can not send SMS. Maybe this situation is specific to my operator customized rom (TurkcellTR) or my device.

Did you flash the phone yourself, or did you do it through OTA/Pc Companion?
Maybe it's a bad flash, since I can switch back and forth from Ultra Stamina to normal with no issues.

I always keep mine on stamina mode. I don't think it does anything since I'm such a heavy user...

Stamina mode must be like the tsc or overdrive button in a car... Just a button and not connected to anything...

[Q] Xperia Ray Won't Turn On or Do Anything Else

Hi, so sorry for the vague thread title, but really, there's no other way to describe it. So here's what happened.
For the past few weeks (or month), my Xperia Ray has had a problem of switching on after it was put into standby mode, i.e. after i pressed the lock button. The screen would light up, however would remain blank. So all I would get is a bright black screen.
I could have lived with this for a few more months (until Xperia Z gets released in my country D: ) however this problem started getting worse. At first, after pressing the home button, the volume rockers and/or the lock button for about 20 times, the screen would turn on (finally). Despite it giving me that bright black screen, i could still operate the screen. I could still try to unlock it because of the haptic feedback on my lockscreen. I could still change music tracks on my music widget on my lockscreen. In short, the screen worked perfectly, only that it kinda wouldn't show. However, for the past week, the only way to turn it back on would be to do a battery pull and switch on the phone again. And it recently developed a problem of giving me that bright black screen again when I switch it on, causing me to do about 5 battery pulls before being able to actually use my phone again.
I did get fed up with this problem, being a heavy user of my phone. Therefore, today I decided to try to do a factory reset of my phone, intending to wipe the dalvik cache + clear all user data, thinking it might help my bright black screen problem. However, I found that I couldn't boot into recovery because all my phone would do was to give me that bright black screen again! So after many battery pulls, I managed to boot up my phone normally and do a factory reset under the backup & restore tab in settings. Of course, the phone tried to reboot itself, but of course, just gave me the bright black screen.
I kinda gave up at this point, and did many battery pulls and boots, however, all I got was either
1. the terrible bright black screen
or less frequently
2. the free xperia project logo then the terrible bright black screen.
I did get very fed up, so I plugged it into a wall socket to charge it. However, since about an hour or two ago, I realised it may be on bootloop. When I plug it into a wall socket, the free xperia project logo shows up and then an even brighter black screen shows up for about 3-5 minutes, then those two repeat endlessly. The notification light doesn't show that it's charging at all.
Okay here's background info on my phone.
- Is rooted
- Bootloader is unlocked
- CM 9.1 is installed
- Was running GO Launcher (if that helps)
- had a custom boot animation
- I think i deleted an apk for the google start up configuration thing...the one that asks if you have any google accounts you want to connect when you switch on your phone for the first time. I'll search up the correct apk name if you need it.
- Is about a year old (got it last early April)
- is a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray (in case you didn't notice haha)
- battery level was about 20%+ when I did a factory reset (terrible of me I know)
- I have tried to caliberate the battery a few months ago
That's all the background info I can think you need. Please do let me know if you need any other info. If you need the logcat text of what happens when I hit the lock button at the top of my phone and the phone gives me the bright black screen (the early stages of this problem), let me know and I'll dig it up. I think I've bricked it, but I can't boot it into recovery so I can't do anything. And I did all I could google for the bright black screen problem which I won't tire you by specifying here. Please do help me. It seems as if the worst of evils has befallen my phone. Now I'm stuck here with my phone crazily on bootloop beside me. Please please do help.
Flash stock rom
Just try flashing a stock rom with Flashtool. If the problem persists, then it could be a hardware problem. Flashing a stock ftf takes care of all software issues. Get the stock ics FTF file and place it in firmwares folder of flashtool. Start flashtool and select flash mode. Then choose your ftf and press ok. Then wait until it prompts you to connect your phone. Then, just turn off your phone, while holding the power button down attach the USB cable. The LED notification should turn green and wait until it finishes flashing.
flash extended stock kernel and then the stock ftf firmware file...
hit thanks if i helped u
I have the same problem on my Xperia Mini (ST15i) I use Pureness rom and Mesa Kernel... ((

Hi, if your phone can still be switched on and hasn't progressed so far in being destroyed, you could try downloading the Disable Auto Brightness app for Xperia phones from the Play Store. I've read somewhere that the screen might not turn on because of the auto brightness. I'm not sure if it actually helps, but perhaps my phone would have died faster without it. I've read of people changing their battery, doing battery calibrations or changing their screen to fix the problem. But before you change the hardware, I suggest that you check the hardware first. If the Disable Auto Brightness doesn't work, do a Nandroid backup and store the backup somewhere safe. Then flash the stock firmware to your phone and try to get it to switch on. Do flash the firmware before your phone runs out of battery because you never know, your phone may decide to refuse to charge your battery anytime. Then try to switch it on. If your phone goes into a bootloop (like mine now) really consider getting a new phone or sending it for repair or try all day to fix it if you use your phone alot. I'm still trying to fix mine.
I flashed the original firmware for my phone, tried to turn it on, was very happy when I saw the original Xperia logo, but then I realised it was on bootloop. When I tried to charge it, it immediately turns on and goes into bootloop again. Logcat doesn't detect my phone, so I can't obtain the logcat of what's happening. I haven't tried to replace the battery of my phone because I couldn't find a supplier. But I'll go on trying to fix my phone until the day that it really breaks down. Good luck with yours and keep us posted.

Does turning on Stamina mode disable the notification light? Ever since I started using stamina mode, the light no longer comes on when I get new email even though I have set the email app to remain active in stamina mode.

{SOLVED}No Display!!Xperia Tablet Z!!!

Hi Tablet z Users..
to make the long story Short,i went into the pool. its working just fine. I powered it off and when I boot it up again, led didn't lit and no signs of life. UNTIL its alarm clock sounded(I do have an alrm set on my TabZ).
my tablet has No Display right now. alarms are still working, touch is still working(i can play a songs from Walkman app since i'm familiar with its location on the home screen.)
-indicators in the ports didn't turned red.
-LED not blinking(fastboot mode & turned on)
i can also boot into fastmode( flashmode not tried yet). when it is on(with no display) my pc can't recognize my tabZ...
is this a hardware problem on the display or it still can be fixed by flashing?
Edit: I can see the icon but it is too dark..i have to view it under the sun light to see it. and i can see rainbow.. i'll try to wither it under the sun..hope it can be recovered.!!
Edit2: i turned off my tabZ for 2days. Put inside the plastic container with 4 bags of desiccants.. After that, since i can boot it up occasionally, i repaired it through pc companion...hope it helps some of you guys..
Thanks in advance.

Stamina mode keeps poping up?

I did a search on here and on google, but to no avail.
When my phones battery is less than 30% the stamina mode keeps popping up asking me if I want to put my phone on stamina mode. I select no and then a few seconds later it will ask me again. My phone did this constantly the first 2 days when the battery was less than 30%. Then it stopped doing the pop up, but my phone keeps reacting as if a pop is happening. For example, it will give me the sound or a vibration as if a notification was happening every few seconds.
I tried restarting it
I tried turning stamina mode on to see what would happen and the "pop ups" continued
What else can I try? I'm covered by the warranty and can still take it back if necessary.
My sister has the same phone and does not have this problem.
Then why you just Activate Stamina and set up it on Power Management , remove check from "Extended standby" and add what apps to be active in standby. After that is be similar just like to not enable it (or something like that). Stamina is activated all of time for me, battery life is 3 days on medium use, but getting worse -1 % less on standby.
p.p Some of you guys have a problem with black video recording https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-M4-Aqua/Video-only-recording-sound-black-picture/td-p/1025185 , xperia m4 must get prise for worst xperia phone.

(HELP) Locked out of my phone because of ultra power saving mode

Hey guys, I really need your help, today I had to wait for my little sister to finish an exam, but because I had like 8 percent of battery life I turned on the Ultra power saving mode on my S7 Edge, I clicked accept then waited for the lock screen to show up, I swiped to unlock my phone with my password and the keyboard doesn't pop up, I keep tapping and trying, restart the phone, tried again, nothing, booted into recovery to wipe cache didn't do anything neither, booting into safe mode was another waste of time, and then I realized I had disabled the samsung keyboard some months ago in order to switch completely to the GBoard keyboard (I thought this may save battery life), I don't remember if I deactivated it normally or through some package disabler. And since the Ultra Power Saving Mode deactivates most apps, it deactivated my GBoard, and since the samsung keyboard was also disabled, it didn't bring the keyboard up, I can't disable the ultra power saving mode because I need to INPUT THE PASSWORD WITH NO KEYBOARD, and fingerprints are also disabled so I'm pretty much locked out, I was wondering if there was anything I could do, like a command to uninstall the package disabler or to activate the keyboard again or if I could install a zip that would do some magic through recovery, because I haven't found anything at all, thank you.
