Best cable ive ever used is the official oneplus one cable. Its pretty, slim at the ends, and thick enough to get a few amps of current through, however they normally always sold out
Short thick cables are best for transferring power without loosing too much to resistance and heat etc i can not find a link may have got them on ebay, however below are some high quality mid-long sized cables, always carry enough current for me:

AVOID at all costs
stupid thin noodle cables. made the mistake of getting a pack of 12. they break after a few weeks and carry nearly no current!

If you can find it, the blackberry 1.8amp chargers with the cable integrated in them, are the best and fastest charger I have ever used, and you can get them pretty cheap (I got 3 for less than $25). these chargers can and will get up to 1.8 amps easily, I always get above 1.8 amps when charging. It actually takes like 1 hour and 30 min from 2% to 100%
I think they are the chargers for the playbook

I scored a deal somewhere off the web not to long ago for micro usb car chargers for .98 cents free shipping. Didn't have a use then but figured one day I might. The day has come and now I wonder if I need to be concerned with these killing the battery prematurely or not?
Just make sure the voltage and amperage on the device is ok for the phone you're connecting. It won't hurt the battery, but if your using something too low you won't get a charge and if it's too high you'll destroy the device.
You don't really have to worry about it...all USB car plugs should be @ 5VDC (USB standard) even if they are incredibly cheap. Something with 1A output should be great, though this is not the amount that is force-fed to your phone but the max amount the charger can put out (so a 2A one will NOT damage your device & may end up charging the phone faster.)
Just make sure it's 5 volts and provides at least 700 mA.
Also, if the charger doesn't short D+ and D- together the phone will assume USB charging and drop charge current to 400 mA.
If it's $0.98, then most likely it's only good for 300-400 mA. I know monoprice has some dirt cheap "1A" car chargers that if you open them up, prove to have a current limiting resistor set for around 350-400 mA. About the only time in my life I've been unhappy with a monoprice product.

Ok, So I figured USB cables were pretty straight forward, but apparently i'm wrong, so maybe some of you can shed some light on this?
I have purchased several of those external battery type things to carry around when I need extra juice and am away from power for an extended time and I have found the following regarding cables very odd..
With the stock samsung wall charger/cable I get around 1000ma charge rate. Good...
If I take the above cable and use it with an external battery device I get 500ma.. Bad...
If I use the coiled cable that comes with the external battery I get 800ma charge rate.. Huh?
If I use the short straight cable that comes with the external battery I get 900ma charge rate.. Double Huh?
The external battery has a 1000ma charging port that I am using. (as well as a 2A)
When traveling around i'd like to bring just 1 cable instead of many cables each for a different device as these are all Micro USB and supposed to be standard, and I realized that some cables have the data pins shorted for extra power above an beyond the "standard" 500ma charge from a computer USB port.
What I don't get is how some of the cables deliver more than the normal 500ma from one device but not the other? Either the extra pins are shorted or not?
I know some of you will say who cares about 500ma or 1000ma, but I am using a 5400mah battery in my Note, and 5 hours vs 10 hours recharge time is a pretty big difference.
I just want one long cable that will charge at close to 1000ma from anything
While I don't know a great deal about USB cables, I do know that even our stock cables are cheap at best.
A year or so ago, I had an HTC cable go bad and decided to buy a high capacity cable.
I went online , to monstercable.com and found a 6 foot long brute..
It was nearly double the wire strand size, and used gold plated connections.
I could charge my phone in just under an hour ...using my stock HTC adapter.
I'm convinced that the resistance in the cable is your main issue. And a quality cable will solve it.
I paid $29.00 for the cable plus shipping, and I still use it today ....g

The cable is too short, and i cant find a longer one anywhere. I need one that would charge the phone fast like the original.

There is nothing special about the original cable, it is just a data cable/charge cable. It is the charger that is special. The stock charger is internally shorted to charge [email protected]?2 amps not [email protected] Get a good quality 6 foot data/charge cable from monoprice. The monoprice cables have small ends that fit on almost all cases with smaller USB holes. EBay cables are hit or miss.

Grab your stock charger, install Galaxy Charging Current on your phone and test different cables. You'll see that the stock cable charges much faster. This goes for car chargers too. I have a Samsumg OEM 2 A car charger that I tested with different cables. The difference between the stock cable and even good quality cables is notorious. What really isn't that special is the charger. Even a USB charging port from a laptop can provide more than 500 mA. By the way, you are confusing DC and AC currents.if you are referring to the 500 mA of the USB standard, they are DC too.
That being said, I too wish there was a 3 meter cable that could charge as fast as the Samsung original.

I bought my phone brand new from a local Verizon Corporate store and obviously my phone came with the Galaxy Note 3's standard white Samsung 2.1amp charger and white USB 3.0 charging cable. I needed extras and wanted to order something as close to stock performance and charging speeds that I could get without paying out the a$$ for a couple of real OEM wall chargers and cables from Verizon, so I did a little research and found a couple of good combos off Amazon that matched the same charging rates that the OEM charger/cable combo gives me.
I ordered an Amazon Basics 2.1amp output wall charger, this Amazon Basics 9ft long USB 3.0 cable, this small/low profile PNY 12volt/2.1amp "Rapid Charge" Car Charger, and this 8ft long Mediabridge USB 3.0 "SuperSpeed" Cable.
I tested combos of each cable(OEM White Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Cable, Amazon Basics Cable, and the Mediabridge Cable) with EACH charger(OEM White Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Wall Charger, Amazon Basics 2.1amp Wall Charger, and the PNY 2.1amp Car Charger) using the "Galaxy Charging Current" app and got the same results all across the board with each combo, even the Samsung Charger/Samsung Cable combo. So unless that app spits out skewed numbers on a consistent basis, I believe it's safe to say that as long as you get a decent quality charger that can truly pump out 2.1amps like the OEM Samsung Charger and a decent cable to pair up with whatever charger you purchase, there's no need to spend the big bucks and go OEM....unless you're just one of those kinds of people that HAS to have OEM everything just for the extra peace of mind and to make sure all of their accessories are of the same matching Samsung brand. I see no reason to spend that kind of money when a MUCH cheaper alternative will get the job done just the same, PLUS the "craftsmanship" and quality of the aftermarket chargers/cables I mentioned appears to be outstanding, if not maybe even a little better than the OEM Samsung combo...besides the fact that the fancy OEM cable has the glossy, white, square-shaped plugs at the each end of the cable with the "SAMSUNG" name emblazoned on them and those aftermarket cables gave me a hard time squeezing past the charger cutout on my Spigen Slim Armor Case(some shaving of the plug is necessary in order for them to fit through my Slim Armor charging cutout).
If you're not concerned with all that fanciness, save yourself quite a few bucks and opt for the cheaper alternatives...just do yourself a favor and do your research first...you WON'T be disappointed. :good::good::good:
You got lucky. I've tested about half dozen cables by now and none of them managed to deliver the same current as the stock cable. Out of curiosity, what current did you get? 1800 mA?
Yeah, it's mostly testing with the Galaxy Charging app on whether or not you get the max current or not. I got lucky that my wife's Lumia's data cable is at par with the stock cable and use that for Ingress sessions. I also use the HP Touchpad wall charger as a secondary charger, it gives out 2.1 amps, one of the best chargers around.

I have also tested with various combinations of the OEM sammy cable and charger, AmazonBasics 3' and 9' USB3 cables, a nexus 7 wall charger and an Anker 2.4W car charger. All did very well and charged around 1800mA. My laptop charges it at a little under 500mA.
I also had to shave the AmazonBasics end to fit with my Slim Armor case. I don't get why they made it so large in the first place, its HUGE. Also, the AmazonBasics cord is very thick and stiff, more like cable TV cable.

I'm with you. I've been using that cheap sprint 2amp dual use ac/car charger with the monoprice cables and it charges just as fast as the stock samsung combo.
By the way, ~9 feet (3 meters) is a long ways to charge something.
If you ever notice if you buy one of the cheap cigarette lighter chargers it shows USB charging in the battery properties. This limits it to around 500ma. It must be internally wired to charge at the USB standard. Now buy cigarette Lighter 'fast charger' and it will show AC charging in the battery properties. It must be internally wired to charge at a higher amperage.

No, just a good quality cable imho. Monoprice 6 footer or similar. Only one thing that bothers me with monoprice cable is the wire tends to pull out of the terminated end if you pull at it too much. What I love about them is the terminated ends are small.

Keep in mind that to get the full speed with a cable longer than 3 ft you really need to get something like 24/28 AWG otherwise it can't carry the charge. I bought a bunch of 28/28 cables and none of them gave me the full speed. At 3 ft pretty much any cable will work.

It actually does work, IF you are using a QuickCharge charger. They increase the voltage, and lower the amperage. This in turn causes lower voltage drop over the cable, making the size less relevant. I have a pair of 10ft Monoprice 28/28s here, the charge speed is the same as the cable the phone comes with. Once it drops to 5V, the battery is already only allowing small currents to top it off anyway.
With a standard 5V charger, that article is dead on. And all things being equal, you generally do want the thicker ones, so do get them if they are available.

If it works for you then I'm envious, but I've got 3 Motorola chargers, 3 Nexus 6s and 8 6ft 28/28 cables that aren't doing it and for my money that's a pretty good sample. I only have all these because I manage the phone plan at work. When we bought the 24/28 6ft cables we had no issues.
So I've been able to test out this nice USB car charger from Choetech Official with Qualcomm 2.0 charging capabilities. And I must say this lil thing works very well. Charged my Nexus 6 up from 15% to 73% around 45min. It's a well built charger that has smart technology for recognizing what kinda devices you have plugged in.
Has a dimmed LED that changes from blue to green when you plug up a fast charge device.
It's a dual USB port charger.

I received this charger couple weeks ago and have been using it. The charger arrives in a nice package with the standard accessories. Inside it has the charger, the usb cable, instructions manual, and a pamphlet that ask if you're happy with the product or not. Pretty standard nowadays. I got the black charger but they also offer it in white. The charger is shorter than my other ones which is a plus for me. I don't like them to stick out of my car port since it's really close to my shift knob. The charger comes with two usb ports. 1 is for quick charge 2.0 for some phones like my galaxy note 5. The other is a normal port that charges pretty fast too, up to 2.4 amps. You can use either ports to charge your devices and they will charge to the max allowed but if you have a quick charge 2.0 enabled device, it's best to use that port. They colored the port blue for fast recognition which is nice. I don't have to fiddle around with it while I'm driving to figure out which port it is. The quick charge can charge my phone from 50% to close to full in about 45 mins. It takes longer if the phone is being used. I use the charger daily during my drive to school. I always charge it up to 100% before I head to class so it can last me all day. I was worried that by using quick charge so often, it would deteriorate my battery life but I haven't experienced that yet and hope I never do. When I use the charger to charge 2 devices, they both charge at their max. My phone charges with the quick charge while the other phone charges with the other port and it doesn't affect each other, which is very good. I really love this charger. If Iphones had quick charge, I would buy this charger for everyone in my family.
Choetech also was nice enough to allow me to test one of these charger for them.

This is a great little charger, and I do mean little.
The size actually surprised me a bit considering this is a 4 port charger.
I expected this to be a huge block sticking up from my 12v car port, but it actually is a nice small charger.
I have 2 port chargers that are bigger than this is, enough about that, on to the review.
Looking in the package you will find:

The USB cable is one of the best ones I have received with a charger in a while.
It is not thin and flimsy like you usually get.
The charger itself is made of a nice gloss black plastic and looks and feels like it will hold up well to years of abuse in your vehicle.
This charger does support Qualcom Quick Charge 2.0, meaning that it will auto adjust voltages and amperage to best charge you compatible device as quick as possible.
In testing I found this charger to be able to charge my LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in about the same time as my other Quick Charge 2.0 certified wall chargers.
This will also charger non Quick Charge 2.0 certified devices at the maximum rate they will allow.
I tested my LG G3 that is not Quick Charge 2.0 certified and will max out at 2.1a charge rate.
It got 2.0a charge rate from this charger which is great.
There is also a blue LED on this to help you find it easier in the dark.
The LED itself is dim as to not be distracting,
I have attached some pictures showing how small this charger is and me using it to charge multiple devices including 2 phones and a GPS unit.
I have had zero problems with this unit and am glad to have it.
I would recommend this to anyone with a car or truck and either multiple devices they need to use daily or a device that is Qualcom Quick Charge 2.0 certified.

I got to use this charger too. Having 4 ports, one with quick charge was really handy. I was able to charge my Nexus 6, Nexus 9 tablet, and an iPhone 5S all from the same charger without having any drop off in charge rate from any of the devices I could measure with Ampere (Nexus 6 & 9). Overall, there isn't much more to say that the other guys above didn't say.
Other thoughts:
It's really small. This thing packs a lot of power for its size.
It is scratch and finger print prone, but I plan on leaving this in the car all the time; so that doesn't really affect me.
The charging light changes color based upon normal charging (Blue) versus quick charging (Green)

probably grabs too much power and the design to make that might be too complicated without having some power fall off? Personally, my phone is the only QC device i'd worry about and the rest could take the slower charging. But that's my 2 cents.
I have this charger, too, along with a number of other CHOETECH products. Their quality is top notch with affordable pricing!
I have this charger in white so it sticks out surrounded by all the black leather in my car, but that makes it easy to spot and I keep the white charging cable in the quick charge slot so I know which to use when my phone is low. It doesn't seem to charge fast while the phone is in use, but it does charge quickly if you just leave your phone idle and let the charger work its magic.
Even you didn't have a quick charge device, it's handy to have a two port charger. I'm happy with that product.
