I did not do a backup before I started. I have an X. If I get it back, I will post it.
Update: AT&T is replacing my phone. I will clean it up before I send it in. They cannot see a reason for the behavior. When I get the new one, I will back it up. Do I need to back up all portions of the phone or do I just need to backup certain sections?

That is very strange how that could happen. I'm glad I didn't jump the gun after being tempted to get rid of this buggy at&t firmware.
Will be staying tuned to avoid losing band 17 with switching to padfone s firmware most likely when lollipop comes out hopefully in a month. Gives time to prepare and figure out some issues before moving on.

I have restored Band 17 to operation!
I did make backups using TWRP from the new phone I received from AT&T. I did one backup with just boot and system and the other one has cache and efs.
I used those to restore my device and Band 17 returned.
I have posted a link to the backups I made once the files have finished uploading. Let me know if you cannot get them.

Does this mean we need to use nandroid backups from padfone s firmware and use them on the x to make sure it doesnt lose 17.

Nice, if another person could confirm that these nandroid backups work, were on to something.
Maybe an ultimate guide of using padfone s firmware for our padfone x would clear some confusion.

There must be something different in a config file to cause this behavior. If we could compare them or get QPST working, I feel this can be resolved. Thanks to all of you who helped me get the phone working again.
Has anyone else tried this with the posted file?

trying add LTE band according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
I've found modem modemst1 modemst2 change LTE bands
flash [modemst1 modemst2] from other padfone x can unlock simcard lock , IEMI become 0 ,LTE band will not change [band 1,2,3,4,5,7,17], NV item 6828 value(65631) , can edit, try to add band 8 ,but found LTE band 8 not really working
flash [modem] from padfone s rom(intall padfone s rom on padfone x, and extract modem.img), NV item 6828 value stick on (223), it means [LTE band 1,2,3,4,5,7,8] ,NV item 6828 can't edit(will reset to 223 after reboot), try LTE band 8 simcard, found LTE band 8 not really working
could someone provide [modem.img modemst1.img modemst2.img] from padfone S ? I really need it ..

I need to do this but I am a noob when it comes to flashing my phone. I inherited this PadFone from my brother and I don't see the 4g LTE icon and that might be the problem since he had it on T-Mobile. If you could give me a step by step breakdown I will try it. For sentimental reasons I want to be able to use the phone fully.

so this is just backin up the 2 efs partitions, modemst1 and modemst2? but in app form instead of my script?
the efs backup function has also been added to TWRP.

you should probably create a new thread and get help for this. Like the link in the OP said, efs folder are unique to each device because it also contain imei/esn number. Using someone else back up wont help you with your phone. maybe theres a different fix.

We could if we had something that would allow these files to be converted to a format that is readable by a hex editor, and then convert them back. I have been trying to find something like this for a while but I can't find anything. If anyone knows and would be willing to share, I am sure a great many of us would appreciate it!
Tks @hoangnova :good:
This is my last ditch effort. Small back story: I somehow wiped EVERYTHING on my G2. EFS partition, ESN, data, SIM info., everything with dialer codes. All of my network information reads "unknown". I tried many methods from here on the forums to get this data back and it turns out I have lost my EFS partition- DNA for the network? I sent it to LG to get it fixed, having done a hard reset and leaving no trace of root. They sent it back without even asking and did no repairs. The note said "board bent". WTF?? How does the user bend the main board, especially when I never opened it? They voided my warranty and ripped off my IMEI/MEID sticker from the back of the phone.
Anyways, I am here with a brick. No network still. Here is what I have done:
1) .tot method to ZVC. Several more times... once to ZV7 where I lost touch capability. Luckily saved my arse with a micro->usb cable and a mouse.
2) attempted to root with ioroot25. Failed because the phone WILL NOT find recovery mode. adb, voldown+pwr then again from power off, and apps are unable to force the phone into recovery mode. I assume it is possible that my recovery mode is deleted?
3) Would have tried all of these "rewrite your efs/imei/etc" things but I can't do any without root. Can't root without recovery, can I?
4) Spent the last two weeks scouring the internet for a fix and going back to my Epic 4G temporarily.
Please help me, has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help me fix it? I am to the point where I would pay to have it fixed. Any experts out there? XDA has yet to let me down... I just need to know if I can fix it or if it is a brick so I can go searching for an old Sprint GS3.
Thanks all,
baublitz

Wow, that IS bad. Problem is some NVItems can't be read so when you try to write those it will write blanks (0's) or not write them at all. If you already wrote from a phone that does read them you might have corrupted your NVitems. Is insurance an option?

Im asking a few questions first, no need for attitude. And NO, I am not posting it here publicly, I am sending you a PM with a download link. So once I take out my personal info, create the qnc (sp?) file I will upload and send you a PM.
EDIT: PM sent.
For the record, I'm not the one who messed up the phone, you are asking me to send you my QCN file which contains all my info and that requires me to zero out the phone first THEN reprogram my phone, doing it as a favor, no need to get cocky.

Does this wipe data? Or is it similar to an OTA, difference being you're just restoring a backup? Also, will this break root?

I had TMOUS stuck on 4.19x (that wasn't eligible for OTA) rooted, stock ROM, TWRP, and I followed directions in this thread, i.e., unzip first, place in TWRP, restore as backup from recovery and it worked perfectly for me- no wiping, no root loss, and One was updated to 5.31 with Sense 6.
If you have different variables, I don;'t know if it would work the same way.
I wish I had read this earlier in the treads. For the past couple of days Ive been trying to update my phone to Sense 6 but I couldnt because its rooted and I cant get s-off because Im on hboot 1.57. I'm gonna try to try this now Thanks in advanced!

Massive thanks to you Mikey, I've been trying to get sense 6 via OTA and RUU for the past week but for some ungodly reason they haven't been working. Its been errors every step of the way. I tried to flash this at first with TWRP and that didn't work, but I then unzipped and restored and that did the trick. Again MASSIVE MASSIVE thanks
quick question does this backup update the radio as well, been trying to find the latest since my phone seems to lose data at random times. thanks
I am currently on ARHD 70.0 running 5.11 firmware. If I flash this through TWRP backup would I need to flash the 5.14 firmware as well? I recently moved to a place with total craps reception and desperate for T-Mobile WiFi Calling.

That's why I don't use any custom ROM with my T-Mo phones and always buy T-Mo branded phones - I live in a comeplete deadzone - and WiFi calling is usually one f the first things that go in custom ROMs. I used to wonder why other carriers didn't add theur own versions of WiFi calling since it still counts against the plan's minutes.
In all infos on phone it says that if you enable auto restore in Settings => System => Backup & Restore that it should restore saved wifi networks from google backup, but it dose not. Tryed also to toggle auto restore, but still no luck. Did anyone make that sync work?

Never use setup a as new device or you wont be able to pull anything down afterwards. I remember reading it on a google thing once that only when you setup the phone it has to be installed from the google Backup. In saying that i did setup via Phone clone which was useless and when that finished it did ask me if i wanted to install from Google Backup. All other phones I've used only let you do it once.

No not at all, I had an S8+ as my last phone. Cracked my screen and had to get it replaced, i used my old S5 while it got fixed and also Motorola Maxx. The thing i did find out was when i used my Moto (Kitkat) it didn't find the S8+ backup. Same thing with the S5 it only showed me the Moto back up. But when i got my S8+ back it had the Moto, S5 the old S8+ Backup. When i got my Mate 20 Pro it showed me 2 x S8+backups, S5 and Moto backup. E.g S8+ 28 oct backup and also 9 Nov Backup.
So you should have the old back up still there. The only thing i found was that if you have older version of Android you can't use newer version to pull backups from.
Hope this helps.

Still it's so strange that you can't restore only wifis from some tool
The only way i found was with droidkit, a program only available for computer. The second solution is reseting the phone and recover the old backup, but first backup your current data.

Why did you use Chip Erase? That's what Chip Erase does. It wipes out IMEI. In none on the Instructions for WTF or Frankenstein does it say to use Chip Erase on LGUP.
You'll have to Google how to do that. On XDA we can't talk about how to change IMEI.

You're crazy or very lucky. Chip Erase WILL delete IMEI. That is what it does.
Straight from the manual:
https://9to5lg.com/lgup-1-15-manual-how-to-unbrick-restore-your-lg-devices-with-lgup/
3) ChipErase: Dangerous, This will erase IMEI/efs, Do not try this if you do not have a NV backup.

All I know is every one who reports they used chip erase in the Frankenstein thread wiped their IMEI. It's not part of ANY instructions in this forum, so any one who does it in on their own.
Here's the remainder of the explanation:
REFURBISH: You will lost all user data(KDZ or TOT)
2) UPGRADE: Keep data and update your phone(KDZ or TOT)
Select Upgrade to flash kdz firmware to unbrick/restore your phone back to stock.
3) ChipErase: Dangerous, This will erase IMEI/efs, Do not try this if you do not have a NV backup.
Chip Erase can also remove the Google FRP on many LG devices with Android 5.0, 6.0. (Such as LG H345, LG MS345)
4) PARTITION DL:flash the single Parition or selected paritions onto your phone.
This feature can solve “unkown model” issues. This feature can be used to bypass google frp by flashing specific tot firmware.
5) DUMP:Dump all paritions of your phone as backup.,
AT&T and Spring LG phone users who may need this feature to dump the firmware from a working phone as back up and use Patition DL to restore phones.
6) FOTA Upgrade: This can be used to flash OTA Update file that comes with dot up file extention.

try restore modem image via partition backup restore if you don't have one, try to pull from other V30 or other lg phone you have. Don't expect your phone will be normal as before, it's just some experiment that I suggest since you don't have any answer yet.
If you have a twrp EFS backup use that to restore. If not then you likely won't be able to restore it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73489308&postcount=2 try this.
Make sure you still have the box for legit imei.
and instead of 815, replace with your phone model number e.g 930, 931, or 932...

this is the program that I messed up my device with it (hard brick) after i restore edited efs partition .
it cost me about 30 $ to boot it with medusa box in repair shop.
So I became not afraid to break it so much that I did chiperase several times and did not even lose Imei.

Please, no one else do that. You will lose IMEI. Only this one person says they have not lost IMEI using Chip Erase in LGUP, especially our Dev Patched LGUP.

maybe because my device is repaired ?
I think I lost IMEI using one of the TWRP version switching to another LS998. My backup of the first was on a different TWRP version I didn't recognize the feature/version difference. So my old device backup of everything didn't have the same partitions as the new phone TWRP was capable. I wiped everything on the new device and restored everything SMH... Everything worked well except I went ahead and erased data because encryption. But later when I was checking for Gpay I realized my IMEI was 0. Lame. Obviously I still have the IMEI I even double checked it against the numbers captured by Android Find Device (not everyone knows that's there) but no way to restore it it seems.
Now I have a terrorist phone, as they call it, I guess. Anyway everything still works etc coming back from airplane mode takes a restart most times, and Gpay contactless payments cards stopped adding. FYI I guess for others. Still rocking my V30. Like my neighbor Chazmatt I might just buy another one lol one day and keep this one as the family backup. Otherwise I'm still using it full time.
2 day search Google, I repaired my phone imei but SN still emplty, i used Kingtool software. Every one can fix it if lose imei !

Just for info: I have used the qualcomm nv tools from above (and set the port check test) and it worked for me!
Now I got my IMEI back!!! yipiieh
