I'm trying to create a ROM for this device from source since there is no custom ROM for this device. I have the Linux VM with the AOKP repo synced. The problem is finding the device's source.
Haven't tried to port a ROM yet.
Device info:
Lenovo A588t
MT6582M
4.4.2 KitKat

Don't like the idea of self bumping but
I'm currently trying to port an aokp ROM from another device to mine with android kitchen.
Any advice on how to create ROMs for this device without an available source AFAIK

Hellow everybody!
My device (Acer cloudmobile) has great hardware Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM etc... but has almost 0 community for developers... so no 4.2.2 or 4.3 custom ROMs, just an cyanogenmod 10 (4.1.2).
I want to start compiling cyanogenmod 10.1 from source, but I need device and vendor trees. So here is my question: can i use device/vendor trees from the cyanogenmod custom ROM or do I have to create my own trees for CM 10.1?
Thanks a lot!

I have a huawei vitria Y 310A2.
Can we build kitkat 4.4 ROM FOR THIS DEVICE?
i wanna ask, i'm new to android programming, what kinda tools i need to prepare?
hello?
I don't see why you can't port kk to your devices. If you want kk or any other android version check out xda-university it will guide u in the right direction.
If you believe you will succeed.
Example.. my tablet that was built in 2006 with only 309mb ran was able to external multibootloader from sdcard jb4.1, ubuntu, and debian.
All you answers can be found in the little search box at the top of the page.

check this thread out, someone is already trying to port at least the bootloader, and presumably some kind of custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498151
No one is here ??!
I saw this thread and I think this would be a big opportunity for Android in general, but I hope in particular for our G2. I'm not a developer, is there anyone who knows if this port is possible for G2 too?

How this should be in relationship with my question?
I think he's trying to say it's already available for the d802 and copy/pasted from a thread in the d802 forum.
Typos courtesy of my LG G2 (D803) running Mahdi-ROM.
I think he means a sense 6.0 port
The nexus 5 has a nexsense port rom

Oh I forgot to past the link of the thread. My mistake!

It is a very early port of the HTC One M8 rom with Sense 6.
Most of the stuff is not working. They'd have to get it functioning 100% before turning their efforts into other devices.
I'm not sure how close the G2 and N5 are when porting stuff. I think their partition tables are different and something that cases them to not be able to directly flash each others roms. More options the merrier though.
I hope in a port for our phone, with the sense will become the perfect phone!
Hello respected developers,
We all now know that cyanogenmod has successfully been able to develop for Mediatek Devices by building official CyanogenMod ROM for Android One (MT6582) device. Now I want a help if anybody would like a new student.
I want to port this ROm to my Intex Aqua i14 which is also a MT6582 device and has Android 4.4.2 which is almost AOSP.
So can anybody guide me so that I can go ahead with my project I am intended to move ahead with?
Millions of thanks to the helpers.

The porting process is very easy but the tricky part is that you need to find ROM's with the SAME specs and with the SAME chipset
You''ll need Cygwin and Anroid Kitchen
You can follow this guide http://fabosums.blogspot.co.at/2014/02/port-any-rom-to-mtk-device-in-5-mins.html
Good luck and let me know if it works :good:
Android one got its kernel source released, and so the developer was able to successfully build cm11/from source, and fix all bugs
Most mtk phones don't have kernel source
Also android one's boot.img is apparently different from normal mediatek boot.img format
Anyway, cm can't do much about it
Ask your respective devices developer to build cm for it, if he can

Just filter the OS to Android, you'll see it.
I intend to build a stock ROM for myself and maybe make a custom ROM with it, or port the drivers to Linux?
