[Q] I9300 4.3 International - Is bootloader unlocked? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Before anyone posts the noob-video I will inform you, that I have searched the forum for 2 hours now and I could not find an appropriate answer.
I have the GT-I9300 (I9300XXUGMK6) which I (sadly) have updated to Android 4.3 OTA. About half a year ago I rooted it using the Odin software. Now I am planning to install Cyanogenmod 12.1 and in the installation article it said that an unlocked bootloader was nescessary (I haven't installed ClockworkMod Recovery yet). So I searched your forums and found 100's of articles of Verizon users who had their GS3 locked after the 4.3 update. So my question is: Is it only Verizon users that have had their GS3 locked or does it apply for all GS3's? I live in Denmark and my carrier is Telenor DK.
Best regards,
Andreas B. Ostergaard.

Hi tallman43 thank you very much for your answer
However, do you have any forum posts, articles, etc. that state the same thing?
The reason I am so unsure is that I don't want to 'brick' my phone. My warranty is broke so that doesn't matter to me.
Here are some articles:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603402
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-s-iii/355002-verizon-s3-4-3-boot-loader-unlock.html
Best regards,
Andreas.

You post links to threads about a different S3 model, even a brief search of this forum will produce hundreds of threads with the exact same answer you've already been given.

Thank you very much! And thanks for not posting the noob-video (although I am noobish)
Have a really nice day
Best regards,

[Q] Need Help: SGS2 m250k custom ics rom

Greetings!
I am hoping to get some assistance on my problem with my gs2.
My gs2 is from Korea. it is an m250k version running gingerbread (rooted). My question is, have you guys tried updating it to a custom ics rom? I am really hoping to go through but I am hesitant because I have read a lot of people having bricked their devices.
Where would be the best place for me to start? Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

You might get more help if you post your question in the Q&A section and not General post.
If a phone rings and it's not an Android, does anyone care?

I tried. I tried looking for answers there for hours. But there's just so many information there that has had me confused. I can't find a direct answer.
What I want to know is how I can convert my m250k to i9100. then apply an ICS.
I already have my phone rooted. I just don't know what to download next and how to apply it exactly.
Thank you all.
Me Too. After so many hours of searching, I want a guide to convert this koreon into i9100

if you want cm9 then go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102
Download the
CM9 Resurrection Edition for use with Odin
that is simplest
or if you need stock ICS firmware use any ICS firmware LP7 or LP8 flash with idon read some thread you will understand every thing
Welcome to XDA and Galaxy S2 users. The Roll Up Sticky thread should be your starting point. Apart from that , the ICS Rom thread should get you starting on stock ICS roms. Once you are comfortable with these you can explore Android development and custom Roms forum.
Good luck.

Read the rules faqs and guides first then you wont post in the wrong forum .

Second you need to learn to search this question is asked ten thousand times already .
Third if you had read the faqs and guides you would have a clue .
.
As said stickies faqs etc links posted .
Stock ICS in General thread and in stock rom thread .
BUT as you know nothing why not update via official Samsung KIES method you are less likely to brick your phone .

[Q] [Beginner] i9305 HK Version Rooting on Mac

Hello all,
It's been quite a while I have been searching around for the correct procedure on how to root my S3 LTE Hong Kong version [I9305ZHALI2], but either the information is confusing or the procedures exist for Windows or for the US versions of the phone only.
Can anybody please point me to the right direction and let me know where to find the right procedures to follow to root the phone and install CWM and Pandoriam ROM?
This is my first decent Android phone and I have never rooted anything before, so I would like to make sure I don't scr*w up
Thank you in advance!
This is for I9300. There is a sub forum for I9305s. Search on google for root i9305 and you'll get a post explaining how to do it.

I actually tried, but as a beginner I find it confusing, so I was hoping to find a more detailed guide on the forum.
However, thanks for the reply, from which I can assume that rooting I9305 is kind of "universal" and does not depend on the country?

ask in the correct forum
Root is posted in original development .
Guides and Faqs are stickied in General .
MAC i would search out the few MAC posts probably asking the same question .

1) the brick bug is only there on stock 4.0.4 firmware kernel for u so on JB ur safe for now
2) u can root ur phone without installing a custom firmware for sure
3) of course rooting will always have an elemantary risk for sure, but u have to see to it that, why do i require a root in the first place
No (Ask a ridiculous question, get a ridiculous answer).
You really need to learn 'the basics' before you do anything to your phone or you will break it. Read the threads stickied at the top of Q&A, and also read the threads linked in the Stickies thread third post from the top in General.
The questions you've asked have been asked/answered here thousands of times over the past two years, and the answers are in those threads. If anyone serves you up simple answers without you understanding what you're doing, you're going to end up with an expensive plastic paperweight like countless people before you.
Thanks for your answers.

But MistahBungle , i wasn't planning to root my phone right now. And i know i am not ready yet. Those are questions that popped into my mind when i began to read some documentation on rooting and custom firmwares yesterday and i didn't find any answers to those. Sorry if i bothered you.
Anyway thanks again for your help.

What i need to no is can somebody post a link to me and the latest easier way to root my S3 Please, sorry to have forgotton the whole thing but its been ages since i last rooted,
Also are there any latest sound boosting hacks that are available now ?
And finally sorry for posting in wrong section to the admin if i have.
Hope to get some help very soon.
Thankyou from Brian.
Makes no sense, this forum is for the i9300 international -if you have a sprint then you'll brick it with files from this forum.
Suggest you go read the sticky thread in general, rather than posting questions already asked a thousand times.
Start by finding out what phone you have .
Details are under the battery .
If it is an I9300 then all the information is posted .
Basics read first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344125
Critical you read the first two posts .
Likewise sound hacks are posted use search .

Oh i am of the same opinion your question made no sense as sprint verizon is USA and therefore would be in the wrong forum .Likely you would brick the phone if asking for
information here would be extremely high if that was the case and you suggest you have Vodaphone UK phone but ask about some other model .

I didn't intend any sarcasm, I don't want you to brick your phone but I'm not going to type information you can find for yourself in just a few moments.
