[Q] STABLE ROM for GT-I9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I am searching for a ROM that is tested and really stable to run on my GT-i9300.
I've tried to install CM 12.1 for the S3 but it failed..
any recommendations? I've heard about ArchiDroid 3.0.2 ..is it .good?
thanks!

@PePeMoke: why do you hear, if you can read? All LP-ROMs here have bugs. Decide whether it matters for you.

Thanks for your reply.
Maybe I explained myself wrong.
I want to flash a ROM that works quite stable because the cm12.1 did not even install..
Some minor bugs don't matter to me.
Which one can you recommend?

@PePeMoke: Euphoria. Slim & stable.

Ya,Archidroid v3.0.2 is fast, stable, smooth for me TOP rom from CM11 ROMs,next Resurrection Remix 5.4.3 also fast, smooth, stable have more more configurations like navbar, status bar settings etc. with nova launcher is best LP ROM !

[Q] Rooted phone. Any custom roms for this phone to flash?

So i successfully rooted my phone using odin and cwm recovery. i am on stock rom 4.1.2.
Can anyone please refer to a rom anyone used on this phone and it worked without many bugs.
i searched for cm11 but it still has many bugs on this phone so i ignored it. Please refer to me roms that have a newer version on android only. I dont want customised stock roms. just omniroms or maybe cm10.2. Thanks everyone!

Interesting. Nice find, I didn't know this one. I will test to see if it's really KitKat :good:
Edit: it is a beautiful ROM, but it isn't KitKat. It's the same Android JB we all have in our devices. I'm considering to keep it installed.
It is for i8552B

@freitaz Did you flash that in i8552? What's your review on it.

well its nice, much lighter than the original stock rom. Plus its better and much sleeker than the touchwiz. Although its not a major upgrade like cyanogenmod. But yeah, worth more than the stock rom. One of the cleanest rom for grand quattro :good:

Yes, I tested. Let me write a little review.
I would say Bionic Monkey (the name of the rom) is a stock-based rom, with some interesting mods. By default the rom changes the DPI, so more things fit on screen. Some apps are KitKat-themed, like contacts or dialer. The stock launcher was replaced by Google Experience Launcher. It's also pre-rooted and has support to multiwindow. I didn't test multiwindow, but I think it's nice on that rom because of DPI.
The major disadvantage is that the rom is not KitKat, despite the system info. You can test it by installing any app only for KitKat - it will refuse to install.
So, in general, it's a good rom for daily use, so you might give it a try.

There's no KK for us, at least for now. All the roms that claim to be any Android higher than 4.1.2 are actually themed roms with mods on build.prop, but in fact they are Android 4.1.2.
The exception is CM (the one in link provided by you), that is KK in fact. But is still unstable and not suited for daily use.

CM 10.2 is at the same stage as CM11. Not fully functional. No network detected.

recommendations for stable, lightweight KK rom

I'm looking for a stable KitKat rom on s2. have tried slim (stable) and carbon (nightly) but both seem to lag, FC and/or RR. Can you recommend me some or is it better to switch back to JB? Is the battery drain on KK always higher than on a stable JB?

not yet, my thoughts are: the bigger the rom, the more probable it is, that it consumes more battery. Slimrom seemed to be the smallest rom I found so far for s2. But I know I should try KK since it replaced Dalvik with ART. Nonetheless I might give CyanogenMod a try. Should I go with the M-builds, since there is no stable release since 4.2.2?

what 5.1 rom do you suggest (besides CM)

Hi there,
I used CM a long time on my s2, but I just cannot get CM 12.1 to boot on my device. I would like to try out 5.1 though, so do you have any suggestions for a nice stable rom that can be compared with CM?

Try Dirty-unicorns by arnab. It has a lot of features and is a favorite among some others. Unofficial CM is still more stable than official IMO, but official has some important fixes that makes it even better to use.

To the best of my knowledge there's no stable Lollipop ROM. All ROMs have their own bugs. Why not try the few Popular ROMs yourself?

Nah, in my device i tried multiple lollipops but they are were laggy. So i got back on the latest cm 11 and things are smooth as silk.
I'm staying off lollipop for now.
I don't care about the super latest features, I rather have a stable and secure system.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Both Temasek and ArchiDroid are very fast and stable. I haven't try out the new versions of RR and Blisspop yet
bhai archidroid karle latest wala set hai !
Hi,
Haxynox is actually pretty fast and thin. Discovered a bug, but cannot post it there. So i'm thinking of kinda spamming this place till i get my count up to 10
But in general, KitKat seems better choice for i9300 era systems. Would be nice, if someone compiled as close to aosp kitkat as possible. CM was close, but now really gets bloated with its additional software. It even has CM account system. Maybe i will test out Omni.
Omni is ok, but no theme support, same like slim kk

Best Marshmallow ROM?

Resurrection Remix. It's a CM 13 based Rom, stable and nice. You have other customization options too.
From my personal experience, MM ROMs are a lot better, smooth and stable (so far) than any lollipop Rom I've flashed on this device

Yes..i tried to flash it before The ROM bit nothing... The recovery doesn't istall The ROM..remain on path system unconditionally..
I think cm 13 is best rom ever in custom roms
I suggest Temasek, AICP, or CyanPop for now. Since RR froze development for reasons I don't know, these ROMs should be a good substitute. But when RR comes back, its a recommend to go for it. RR topped the charts while the I9300 was in the world of lollipops

I had Blispop v4.x (LP 5.1) for a month. Twice a day I had to restart the phone because camera driver (or whatever) was crashing and apps could not connect to camera.
Is the camera driver stable on CM 13 or Resurrection Remix?
I was using A Better Camera and Camera MX.
I suggest to stay on lollipop, cause MM cm-13 still have a lot of bugs. If you use ur phone for daily usage just wait for stable release of MM.

not right.. for me marshmallow rom is better than lollipop ROM..try only to see the instructions and do a flash clean.
is 3 weeks thai i use Cyanogenmod13 and now i'm on latest build 17012016..and all works fine without problem.. for camera i don't have any issue.. i use snap camera but i think also stock camera isn't buggy
Lollipop is not ideal for exynos versions of S3. Thats why CM skipped it. Not to say you wont find other custom roms where L does fine as well as unofficial CM12 versions. With free time on the weekend, I decided to test latest CM 13 nightlies. This on the assumption its just to familiarize myself with it then flash back to my reference CM11 backup. Quite surprised how solid CM13 is. May hang on to it for a while as I've not yet seen any reason to flash back yet.
I recommend you resurrection remix rom.
