Hello xda community,
I have a problem with my nfc always scanning for tags, even when turned off. The best would be, if I could get rid of nfc as i don't even use it anyway. My s6 is rooted by the way. The whole situation is, that I'm using a case for my device, which holds my gym member card automatically triggering a sound+msg saying "tag type not supported". I already tried using or finding apps for this and even uninstalling the nfc app, just making the app crash and show error messages(i restored the app after this).

Is there nobody, that has some kind of advice? Am I the only one with that problem?

Sorry, I haven't tried NFC on the S6 yet. From memory, Samsung had their own version of NFC on the S4 that wasn't stock standard. Might be worth checking that out?

I also possess the s4 , but I don't understand your suggestion. Do you want me to use my other phone instead of the s6?

Did you ever sort this out? I have noticed I can get messages for no reason which stopped when I turn NFC off suggesting there's a problem somewhere.

No sry I didn't. I got used to flip the back cover containing my problem issuing card, to just ignore the problem. Even while I'm calling someone.

okay so while i was at the fair tonight, i rode one too many rides and threw up on myself and had to go home (lame me) and in the process of getting in the car i stripped down to my boxers and shoes in order to not get vomit all in my car. well stupid me forgot to take my phone, which i had layed on top of the car, off of the top of the car before i left and didn't realize it until i got home... my question is does anyone know any apps that can decently ping the phone without the gps being on (or turn the gps on and do it) it has my google account on it so i can load apps but i can't set them up... please help i just got this phone last week and love it...
There are plenty of free apps in the play store under 'lost phone' - everyone I've ever tried you had to setup on your phone first. Do you have insurance? Either way brother, good luck finding it.

both can be installed after the incident. There is a good thread on this in the Hercules forums in the theme section

Your carrier can track, as well. Call customer support. Whatever you do. Do it fast before they pull the SIM and wipe

Yes, if you had turned on the built in feature or had third party tracking software.
Waiting for JKay mod on GT-I9300

And you trying to track it only now!?
Anyway, try remotely pushing androidlost to your phone through Play Store. I've heard some success stories about that. Hope it works for you too. Good luck!

Maybe you can report to police and let them track your device IMEI.

you can remotely switch them on using samsungdive
Sad to hear. But, anyway to prevent this? Any special app that functions like FindMyiPhone that works on S3? So we can track it if it is lost.
I use phonelocator pro, think you can get a free trial

cerebus seems pretty decent in my mind, or avast security is a free option

Pretty techy robber then, don't you think so? I doubt he'd have Odin set up at his house to flash ROMs on stolen phones. He'd need to have downloaded many ROMs, unless he planned to rob all S3s.
No, joking aside, he probably will factory reset. In that case, if the tracking app was installed as a system app, it will remain there (I believe Cerberus has that feature), or else you'd have yo give your serial number to the police to track it. Sorry for the loss though. Damn these robbers!

Androidlost.com is a working app, you can install iteven if the device is already lost, but it needs to be connected to the internet, your Google account and must be able to receive SMS.

For androidlost to work the app has to be open once after you installed it

As people have said Samsung dive (if you set it up on your phone) will allow you to lock the phone making it useless to a robber, also you can track it through GPS. And if there is no chance of getting the phone back remotely wipe your phone, so personal details are safe.
I don't know if it can turn GPS on remotely though, some third party security apps like lookout will turn GPS on remotely as well, you can then work with the police, if they want even give them login details so they can track it without you.
Another option is contact your network to get the imei blacklisted.

Hey I just got my US sprint version of the galaxy S3 and was wondering why I get freezes occasionally and lag with some apps randomly at times? Thought this phone was 100% smooth? And my bwttery is being sort of horrible.. I'm not rooted, only one or two apps open at a time, and texting a bunch . And yes I always close out of most apps. I had my sd card in and it was partitioned to my rooted evo, but I formatted it twice then formatted it using my galaxy. Any ideas?

All I see is galaxy S3 q&a
Sorry my bad. The app doesn't specify

I haven't verified this, but I suspect this was what's happening to my phone: I had constant freezing on my phone as well, and after countless hours of restoring and wiping I think the Evernote Widget was causing the problem. Let me know if this helps
This thread is for the international version of the SIII.
Anyone else have this issue. I have a note 3 on sprint. The gear fit manager use to show in the app store. Now it's gone. I have the apks saved. It's just strange that it gone. Regular gear manager and gear fitness show up just fine. I've reset the app data. Un installed the app. Idk ??

Samsung pulled the app for some reason, probably a last minute bug they found in it.
That's what I thought originally. It's been missing since this past weekend for me. But I can pull it up on my s3 just fine. I tried today at work on some co workers phones. One being an s4 and another s3. I'm wondering if it's something note 3 specific.

And its back on there again.

I think they pulled it because it was sapping the battery something fierce.
Hi, i suspect my girlfriend is cheating on me, is there an app that can record and send to my phone all her texts and phone calls or something, she has a galaxy s5 rooted, or an app that would log everything she types that would be cool, thank you.
I don't think this is the right place for asking this kind question; but anyway, I'm not an expert.
You could try with "cerberus"... Remember my friend sometimes trust is everything

Maybe you should just try talking to her? Or split up with her if you don't trust her....

XDA is not really here for this. Hacking into phones gets folks in trouble....Please go elsewhere for this.
