Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their RAZR. While in landscape mode (I first noticed this while watching Netflix). In the corner near the search capacitive button I noticed the lighting for the capacitive button seeps out a little, like a very small amount. It doesn't overwhelm the screen or anything. When holding my phone upright and looking down towards the capacitive buttons, I do notice some light coming out from the left and right corners. Just wondering if this is because of the design and is normal? Or is it a flaw in the phone? Thanks!
I have noticed this as well on my unit. I have also noticed black blotches on the screen that can be seen when the screen is completely black.

Hmm. It is somewhat hard to notice, I'm still wondering if it is a design thing or flaw.
I have exchanged my Razr and there is still light bleeding from the capacitive button (search). Also the black blotches remain when the screen is black and the backlight is on.

Thanks for confirming this.
droid razr
My screen also has the blotches when the screen is black and in low light conditions.my capacitive buttons also bleed into the screen in the corner but its not something i notice only when i really scrutinise the device.
I have a small streak or two of the blotches but they're only noticeable during the black boot up screen, not when using Netflix or YouTube.
There's absolutely no leaking from the white light of buttons though..
I also have the black bloches, it's like the screen isn't AMOLED; the black's aren't completely black, i compared it to the Galaxy S 2 and on the Galaxy you can hardly see where the edge of the screen is because it is completely black but on the RAZR it's as if the screen is more greenish where the Galaxy would be completely black.
The black's look better on the first Galaxy S than they do on the RAZR
I first noticed when i started using NOLED, i like it better than the led notification light on the RAZR
In any case, quite dissapointing
BTW i don't have light bleeding from the capacative buttons
Hmm. So some units have it and some don't? I do confirm the black blotches when watching netflix and the screen goes black you notice it. The light bleeding i noticed while watching a full HD movie and I was like eh.. What's this tiny flash moving in the corner. That's when I noticed the light bleed, and it occurs only when the capacative buttons are on. Another member stated that he exchanged his RAZR and his replacement one has the same issue as well. I've looked around and it seems other devices also have this issue as well. Not sure if it's just a design flaw or defect.
@Dusanzk you might actually have a defective unit if that's the case, cause some people were complaining about a green tint on the phone. My blacks and black, why whites are white, I have no problem with colors at all. Just that bleeding ;(.
It's quite hard to notice at first, i only notice in the dark and when the screen is completely black.
I downloaded an app called Burn In Tester, you can adjust the colours on your screen to see what they look like and when i choose black that's when i notice it.
Regarding the green tint, i'm not sure that's the problem i'm having because it's only a problem when something black is showing on screen and it's dark, in all other situations the screen looks amazing, like my Galaxy S 2
Does anyone else have screen discoloration near the bottom by the capacitive keys? Its only visible on lighter pages, ie white or off white colors such as web pages and the xda app...not sure what to do about it and if its normal
Edit: seems to be the glue related yellow tint?

Yes, at the very bottom. It is slight but there on white pages. Not as concerned about that as I am about the LCD flex issue.
This screen is beautiful but the manufacturing process and lamination of this screen currently has issues!

I know, it's such an amazing screen. Not sure what to do about the discoloration. Do you think it will go away with time if it's the glue?
I have the same issue. The whole screen has a warm tone but on a white screen you can certainly see a shift towards yellow on the very bottom portion of the screen. I personally think it's from the buttons.

Hi. I noticed that the colors of the screen of my i9300 is not uniform. For istance, when I load a full white page, the top of the screen is lightly blueish/greenish than the bottom. Do you have the same issue? Is it normal? It is not the angle of view. Thanks
I do seem to have a very mild case of this, but only noticable on a white screen. The top of mine is very slightly yellower than the bottom.

I recently noticed a very slight dark "spot" in the center of my Photon 4g's screen. Whenever I touch the screen, that dark spot creates a "ripple" in the shape of a circle. No matter where I touch the screen, it always ripples in the center. Any advice on how to fix this?

Okay so I have a S6 Edge in Black Sapphire 64GB from pre order and date on box is 03/19/2015 made in Vietnam and I got a Gold Platinum 64GB edge today date on box is 04/05/20015 made in Vietnam so compared both screen and the gold seems brighter on all setting and color seems better on gold here are some pics I know this has been brought up before but here are several pics what do you guys think!
Same display modes?

Yes same display modes and settings I'm wondering if it's because the black has two weeks of use and gold is brand new.

I now have an M9 because of the very problem you listed. The black edges have screen issues. I went through several at the store and they all looked yellow and low quality.

I've got a black edge and my screen is flawless. I actually received 2 edges and both are great, one just had scratches on it.
All of the Edges I looked at had scratches and dull screens. They also had the auto brightness issue. Great phone besides those things.

My biggest gripe with the edge is the uneven tone across the screen. Going into to best buy in two weeks to swap for a unit from a new batch. At least I hope. One would think that they'd have a new batch in two weeks b

Get it replaced !
Well I'm sending the black one back due to the light scratches and the gold platinum is my replacement which I'm keeping it has no scratches screen is better and overall the phone feel snappier I don't know if it's possible or just me and this gold platinum looks really good compared to that black blueish color!

Same here got black and my wife have gold one, when gold is on half brightness is the same as i got on full so will go to three for replacement. When restarting the phone screen on three logo is going to full brightness for one second than back to dim after.

Make sure you have auto brightness of on both when your comparing because it could be the phone's ambient light sensors reacting different to the lighting conditions.

Hopefully this is just because the black units seem to have been produced the earliest. Fingers crossed newer batches will fix everything.

The thing with the different screen qualitys is also one thing, which i have noticed.
In berlin we have a samsung store, where we were able to get our hands on the s6 and s6edge some weeks before release.
On all those models which i tested and compared there, the s6 edge had a "bluer" white than the s6, which had a more "yellower" white. In direct comparison the screen and especially white backgrounds seemed much much better on the s6 edge. Yes it was a bit blueish, but the s6's white was more a sand tone, not white at all.
But on those devices in normal electro stores right now, its the opposite. There are defenitely the final models represented and on those, the s6 now had a better white.
Strange strange.
One more thing which i realised is, that under sunlight, the screens white seemed much better than under low light situations. Yes it is the adaptive display setting, but it switches from a very good white (slightly blueish) to a yellowish white in darkness or worse light situations. Maybe it has to do with the thing that a warmer white is better for the eyes in dark situations, but it is still anoying because i defenitely prefer the blueish white..
What is clear is from even the most thorough reviews of screens, is that the S6 edge can't be set to maximum brightness on manual settings alone. On both auto and manual settings, maximum brightness can only be achieved when in high light levels. This can be easily demonstrated by shining a phone torch on the ambient light sensor. Even when set to highest brightness, with auto brightness set to off, if you place a torch light over the ambient light sensor, the screen brightness increases and becomes very bright.
It has been suggested that the Gold Plantinum units have brighter screens than the black sapphire units. I wonder if the intense reflection of light off the highly reflective platinum versions, results in an increased light level around the ambient sensor, which results in the higher screen brightness of the Platinum version, in what appears to the human eye to be identical surrounding light levels. Probably a crazy suggestion and of course this can be easily disproved by using a torch light above both phones ambient light sensors!
What is a fact is that turning up to maximum brightness with auto off does not reach the highest brightness levels unless the ambient light sensor is detecting the phone is being exposed to high levels of ambient light. Screens will differ, as they do are often sourced from more than one supplier or factory.
---------- Post added at 11:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:51 PM ----------
Remember brightness is one indicator of screen quality but by all means not an indicator of a better screen. Resolution, colour reproduction, refresh rates etc are all other key factors. So just because yours is brighter doesn't necessarily mean better.
It could also be that an ambient light sensor is defective, thus resulting in the phone increasing the brightness of the phone display as a result of incorrect information from the ambient light sensor. The pictures in this review were not taken in extremely bright light, so apit's possible, that the black sapphire phones ambient sensor could be correctly detecting the light levels, resulting in correct adjustment of screen brightness. The Gold platinum phones ambient light sensor, may not be working correctly, resulting in information that results in screen brightness being above those desired for the actual ambient light levels being experienced by the phone.
Whether you agree with it or not, it is a fact, that even with auto disabled, the ambient light sensor still plays a role in determining how bright the screen gets!
The screen was not only brighter but the colors were different shades too so this is not just about brightness.

Honestly considering returning my edge to best buy and getting the regular s6. That would give me a renewed 2 week return window and then maybe trying the edge again after that two weeks because the screen at the very least should be pleasing to look at and right now I'm just not pleased.

I have heard people mention this similar problem but no one posted a picture before.
I have s6 edge gold 64gb and a 32gb gold s6. The edge has very noticeable darker screen, dimmer colours and dirtier whites. Pissed off as the edge has the better cpu, runs 4c cooler and produces better benchmarks... But it's going back. Screen bugging me
Shame as the battery life is incredible
