[Q] Need roms for Archos 101|t - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have searched all over and I can't get a copy of cm7 because the website is gone and urokdroid doesn't have a link to the downloads. Does anyone have a copy laying around or does anyone know where I can find either of them? Any help would be great I have been searching for 4 hours

This is what I found on my pc. Hope it helps you:
CyanoBiz beta2.3 a101
openaos gingerbread + kernel

Sorry for being late...urukdroid does have the download link to the latest but it's somewhere in the thread (search for it in it's therad) and also you will need to download both the 1.6.4 and 1.6.2 patches and need to do something with some files from 1.6.2 after you install 1.6.4 to fix something that isn't working that is pretty needed to be able to use the tablet (sorry for being so vague but I can't actually remember what was broken and what was done to fix it, lol).
As for Openaos cm7 it does seem that the site was taken down, I'm pretty sure I still have degu somewhere on my PC at home but won't get to it till after the exams so probably I'll post it in a month if you still want it but must warn you that it wasn't really a daily driver, it had a lot of bugs and app incompatibilities.
These being said I'd recommend you try out cyanobiz cm9, that was mighty stable and the speed was pretty ok for 250mb RAM.
EDIT: Sorry for any writing mistakes, I am posting from my Microsoft Surface using the touchscreen and not a physical keyboard and it's pretty hard, I hate the Windows soft keyboard....it's just so bad....

Adding market causing instability?

I read somewhere that adding market is causing stability issues. I know my A70 is having some issues, and I never ran it with 2.1 on it so I don't know how it behaved before the update, and I put market on it first thing.
I'm hoping its all just due to a rushed release of 2.2 to appease the masses, and an update is coming soon to help stability. But in the meantime, what are some tips for helping stability?

i was having problems with the 28 and 32.when i restored back to factory it ran perfect
That's unfortunate, there is a couple versions for adding gapps, wonder if one works better than the others.
The most up to date might be gapps4archos v4. kenyu has been working on it and making it work well.

Its actually called gAppsInstaller_v4, but close enough..
The v4 version fully stable.

Uninstalled market and did a factory reset, seems to be behaving better for now. I was using v4 though.
Side loaded all the apps I needed and slideme market, so far so good. Its only been about an hour, so longer testing is needed to be sure.

Kenyu,
Is there any word on the New Mkt floating around here. Can we install it? Are you going to work on a version for us?

I spent a good portion of the day yesterday playing around with a hot swap of the newer Market, but had no luck.
I even reset and added the newer Market to a fresh install and it worked, but was very unstable. Basically, in order to get a stable version of the Market, we need a specific type/flavor of Vendor.apk which I don't have nor do I know how to find or even what to look for....
It's almost like the gApp files need to be all in sync with each other in order to get a stable Market experience....
Get the file OTA is a different matter... I think that will work OK.
I gave up on the market with my A5 IT... it runs so much better without it(more RAM, less FC's). The only annoying part is when apps have plugins on the market - these are often difficult to find elsewhere. Also some apps will assume you have it installed and can sometimes FC when they look for it and can't find it.
I have not intention of installing it on my gen8 either.
After more testing, its still running good. The shoehorning method of installing market may be causing problems somewhere. I'm not even running a task manager to keep the thing from locking up. Even when switching between several memory intensive apps the free memory would stay around 40mb free at minimum. Seems memory management is working better.

[Q] 3g usb aircard on g-tab

I have come agross a fwe threads that say that it is possible to use any standard USB aircard on our g-tablets, however to save battery and reduce filesize of the ROM's that ability has been stripped. Does anyone know which ROMS are tested with 3g cards or found a way to re-enable it?
Time to read before posting ( and than post in the right section)
To the best of my knowledge, it hasn't been done yet. However, just yesterday somebody seems to have retrofitted support into the Toshiba Folio 100 (another Tegra 2 tablet). Their patch won't work as is, but with a bit of work, it should be adaptable to our ROMs. See here for the curious: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914350 Obviously, don't try flashing that, it appears to contain a boot.img with a kernel for the Folio 100, which you don't want to use. I'm guessing one of our kernels built with PPP/CHAP/etc. support in it, combined with their system binaries and a hacked up Settings.apk would do the trick.

[Q] Not Smart enough to figure this all out

I bought my G-Tab with the same problems as everyone else. I want to have the power everyone talks about but with the ability that I can use it for professional work with out the embarrassment of it "forcing to close" or just not working. I am willing to sacrifice power and speed (not much of each!) for stability.
I know everyone will say this is asked and answered. I have tried to read everything and figure it out for the last month but I am not getting anywhere with more and more programs/apps being added I am lost.
If you can help let me tell you what I use so you can say that wont work anymore change to this or something like that.

I am willing to "flash?" or what ever it takes if someone can point me to a step by step. I put TnTL on it but this just still seemed slugish and probably my own fault but I still dont have google market just handango.
I really appreciate you even taking the time to read this rambling.

I won't try to answer all your questions, but I'll start and maybe others will jump in.
Speed: If you have TnT Lite installed, you probably are getting the same speed as the rest of us. Searched on "tablet Quadrant benchmarks"
and the Xoom was 1823 and the Galaxy Tab 1064. The original poor G-Tablet softwear was in the 1500s and my G-Tablets (4.3.2 and TTX) both
run in the 2100-2200 range. I'd say that pretty good!
My recommendation to you -- if you already have TnT Lite on it -- would be to upgrade that to TnT Lite 4.3.2. You would need to flash 4.3.0 and
then the 4.3.2 supplement in that order.
That would get you the latest in roebeet's ROMs, and would add full Market and the latest fixes. The would get you a Quadrant speed of about 2200. And with the Market you can download Angry Birds and the other software you need.
I know this doesn't answer all your questions, but hopefully it will get
you started.

Just one add-on : The TNT Lite supplements are cumalative. So you install 4.3.0 as a base, then 4.3.2 after that -- you don't need 4.3.1.
I do that as that way you only have to install one supplement, if you are a few revisions off.
TNT Lite 4.3.x has one known caveat, which is a problematic sleep. "Quick fix" for now is a custom kernel - I actually recommend a custom kernel for TNT Lite, but I don't add one by default as I feel it should be a user decision.
You know, a permissions fix always helps. Reboot to recovery and under advanced there is an option to fix permissions. A lot of the time this increases stability and reduces fc issues.
+1 for custom kernel. There has been a lot of work done recently to streemline performance and fix known issues. Clemsyns new kernel made a noticeable increase in net performance sleep death issue was fixed.
Hope that helps

Ok I can do that.....but what is a kernel and how do I do that? My brother in-law who just knows everything! Told me I need to flash it with a vegan he didnt know how or why. Only that thats what he was going to do with his phone? Obviously you can already tell the level of brains I am dealing with there.

You probably don't need to go down that path (Kernel, etc) until you have a little more experience.
I find pictures more valuable than words, if you aren't happy with how the device is performing for you then this video might help. It is a good start on how to get a more responsive ROM onto the device.

beyond that it's a matter of doing a lot of reading and careful experimentation.
While I totally bow down to Roebeet's awesome-ness I would suggest going with VEGAn 5.1.1. I've been running it for over a month now and it's been rock-solid with not a single force close.
I did have a period where I had a crapload of force-closes a while back (sometime late January/early February?) but I blamed it on me messing around with my build.prop so I could use Swype. Swype is great but I didn't need it. I can't say that was the problem but after I booted into recovery via ClockworkMod .8 and wiped user data, cleared cache, cleard dalvik cache and then flashed VEGAn 5.1 and then the 5.1.1 supplemental I haven't had any problems. I also don't download any and everything that someone posts on these forums; just because I can doesn't mean I should.
I use Dropbox as well and instead of Documents To Go I've been using QuickOffice Pro and have no issues whatsoever. I am also using LogMeIn Ignition to access my work laptop from my gTab so I don't have to lug that around anymore.

VEGAn is A-OK with me. It's a solid ROM and a LOT of users here use it.
One good thing about the GTAB mods is that you have a number of options!
SORRY!
To all of you who had the decency to answer someone who it seemed did not have the decency to say thank you....THANK YOU! I apologize that life kept me away so long but such is life. I will be trying all of your suggestions but fear now from trying to catch up in reading that the "GTab is dead" my wife wants a XOOM and I am afraid to buy that thinking it will be dead just as fast.
You know, what ever thing you buy is always going to start "getting behind" the minute you buy it. Cars, computers ... tablets. So don't worry about it being "dead". Just fix it up however you like it and enjoy it.

The below is a method brunes came up with:
brunes_007 said:
Having bought one of these from China, and having very little to noting written on this device so far, I had to figure a bunch of this out myself... so I thought I should share my findings with the community.
If you order one of these from China, you will find that it does not have the Google apps and utilities on it. So to get them on, first you will have to root it.
The first method I tried was via the recovery mode, which I determined you access by holding volume up + power until it reboots into it. However, you will find unfortunately that the recovery mode on this device is locked and it will only flash signed updates, so that method is out.
I tried a bunch more methods and exploits until I finally found one that worked - that was this Root_with_restore method on XDA. Follow the instructions in this thread and you will have rooted your device.
Now that my device was rooted, the next problem was how to install the Google apps. I downloaded the latest ICS apps from goo.im - but remember, you can not flash these. I tried installing ROM manager from the market and using that to flash CWM recovery, but that didn't work. What DID work, and what I ended up doing, was simply unzipping the gapps.zip onto my MIcro SD card, then (as root on the phone), copying the entire contents of the "system" folder from that SD card over the /system directory on the phone. After I did this, and rebooted, I now had all of the Google apps working!
I was able to add my account and install all needed apps from the market to make this phone really shine.
My next goal is to figure out how to get CWM working on this phone. I am doing a bunch of reading on the topic and might have something to report later this week.

Hi Guys,
Can anyone please point me in the right direction on steps to root and install the Google applications (Play Store, Google Contact Sync, etc.) on my Huawei U9510e (Ascend D1 Quad XL)?
I just had a family friend bring me one over from China today and obviously it didn't come with any of the Google applications. I was able to find the Gmail apk online along with the GoogleLoginService and the GoogleServicesFramework apk. Everything installed fine, but I am still unable to sync contacts over from Gmail, and occasionally I will get an error saying that GoogleServicesFramework has crashed.
Any insight pointing me to the right direction is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey brunes, amazing work, I've also found a easier way to root it and flash on google applications with simple UI for newbies like me, I will update my original post to put that in, and put yours in too if you don't mind?
And for sure, I think as soon as this phone receives a global launch it will be pretty popular too, seeing how it's probably the only quadcore pentaband umts phone available on the market right now

No problem, I'll do the translation and post it up by tonight
But just remember that it's still built on a beta rom release from EMUI so it may be unstable, even though I haven't experienced anything (ie. the phone auto restarting), I can't guarantee for you guys :S
Amazing phone for the price
I just got mine 2 hours ago. My friends are all HTC fanboy so they told me to stay away from Huawei but I was just thinking to try it out and then return it but I think i am gonna keep it and sell my GNex. It is quite an amazing pone for such a little price. although the phone might look bit thick but the thickest part of GNex is actually slightly thicker than the D1. I just wish there are more dev support.
I find the camera app that came with it really annoying since you cant turn the sound off... also if it had 2Gb of ram this would be the perfect phone for me!
Anyways anyone else have any news on update to 4.1.2? Or is there other site/ forum with more support?

Beta is fine. Flashed my previous Samsung Captivate numerous times (various Cyanogenmod releases), until settling at SlimBean. Android = always a work in progress.
Regarding the D1, anyone notice slight choppiness when scrolling through the app drawer and such? I'm using Holo Launcher (which I used on the Captivate).
I find that changing the power saving setting to High Performance seems to have mitigated this somewhat. I suspect it might be a small issue with how the stock governor is handling transitions in CPU speed.

For sure about 2GB ram, and support is coming, supposedly Huawei will fully unlock the bootloader by late next week.
I get all my information from bbs dot anzhi dot com, it's a Chinese forum and that is where I found all of my information from. You'll probably have to wait a while longer for the office update to Jelly Bean from Huawei's EmotionUI, but I will be posting the guide on how to flash into their beta release later tonight.

Haha that's true.
I noticed it when I just open the app drawer, I'm using Holo Launcher HD, and it'll be smooth out after opening it for a second or so. I haven't noticed this problem when I was using the ADW or stock Launcher though, so the probably poor ram management from Holo.

Testing Apex Launcher (my go-to launcher before) now. Seems smoother!
I Tested with NOVA launcher PRIME and I say the transition is pretty fast but not smooth. (tested it on performance mode) But i gotta say the 3D unlock screen works perfectly smooth. Do you guys think it might be the problem with 4.0.4 ICS and not the device? My GNex runs on 4.1.2 + some performance tweak and it looks fine.

Double post, need to accumulate a couple more posts so I can start posting links, but I have started to draft the instructions
I'm not sure, because the 3D Home was laggy to me compared to the 2D Home, and I didn't try NOVA, so I couldn't comment, but isn't it similar to APEX and ADW? If it is, then it should be pretty snappy :S
Edit: Tutorial is up!
Indeed it is snappy but not as buttery smooth as 4.1 I feel.
Here is a good review androidauthority
Thanks for your tutorial!
Hey I'm just wondering if anyone got a case for this phone and can you please give a short review of it. I m looking for a case that replace the back cover but wraps around to the front. I had a case like that for my atrix 4G back. I just don't want to make it any chunkier. But if you think it feels fine then I might consider putting on a case. Thanks

I'm using this case right now. I love the feeling of the back, it's really similar to the original backing of the phone's battery cover, and it's not too bulky. I'll get a couple of pictures of it tonight so you can get a sense how much wider it is compared to holding the phone without a case
Newbie Hiere
Hi Sir/s,
I recently bought a Huawei U9510e phone from China and i came upon your posts re the "rooting".
I already rooted my phone (thanks a lot to you!), but now my problem is how to install the google play.
I saw one update from Huawei but it is in ZIP file. Here are my questions:
1. How will i install the update to my phone? Do i need to download it from a PC first then install it in the phone or do i need to download in directly to the phone?
2. How to deal with those ZIP files and where to save them to make them work? For example, the attachment "huawei_usb.zip". I downloaded it but i didn't know whats next after that. How can i integrate it in my phone? Or if its a driver, how can i integrate it with my PC?
Kindly help by providing step by step procedures re my question since im still new at these things.
I apologize for the stupid questions but i don't really have any idea about those. Hope you can help me.
Thanks,
Androidneophyte

Need help finding a stable ROM for basics..

I rooted and installed Vegan-Tab Ginger 7.1 well over a year ago and then my g tablet pretty much collected dust. My son is asking for a tablet for 4 basics things: to watch You Tube, Access Net, Play Android Games, watch Netflix. Right now the video lags or is just a black screen when trying to watch through the You Tube app and when we go through a browser, it tells us we need updated flash player. I'm so far removed from when I started with the tablet that I have no idea where to begin.
I don't know what other information you need to offer any suggestions.... When I originally rooted, I was on version 1.1 -3588 (that doesn't even make sense to me anymore!)
And, you can recommend something to meet my needs, what steps to I take to get it on the tablet? I'm happy to follow links -- I just don't know where to begin. (Do I wipe it clean? How? Do I partition it? How? Then add new ROM? How? LOL)
I have to believe I can salvage this tablet for his needs rather than buying a new, cheap tablet for him.
Thank you .... thank you!!!
I am still on this one from Roebeet, Brilliant Corners
Everything works, camera and all. I use it to watch netflix, SlingBox Mobile, YouTube, it all works.

Refer raywaldo.com site for detailed instructions on installing ROM to GTablet. I personally prefer Smoother Bean v1.5.2. I bet you won't regret the time spent on flashing this stable wonderful ROM
Sent from GTablet Smoother Bean v1.5.2
Thank you! So both of those ROMS would work with version 1.1?
I really appreciate the help!
You may have to follow the directions to move over to 1.2 I held off for the longest time but am glad I did it now. A lot of the compatible ROM's look really good and the dev's have done an awesome job keeping everything updated but I want all of the hardware to work on my GTab. It is kind of why I haven't strayed from Brilliant Corners.

Thanks -- I found a thread yesterday to walk me through upgrading to 1.2. Gonna save that for another weekend but feeling like there is a light at the end of the tunnel
I tried 2 versions of Jelly Bean last week and now back to vegan tab gingerbread. I found both versions of JB to be slow, afterall they are still beta versions. Went back to vegan tab and it runs great, even seams to run better this time. Everything works including youtube, had problems before because I updated youtube. Leave the version that comes with vegan. Just my opinion.

the download links do not work can you provide us with a download link please ?
I have gtab brilliantcorners 1.3.0 saved on my Google drive. It is 149MB and I guess MegaUpload was shut down. PM me if you want access to the file.
I tried SmOother_Bean.ver.1.5.2 which is a version of Jelly Bean. It's running pretty good, youtube and other video sites run great. I don't play games so cant answer to that.
Back to Vegan tab gingerbread, tired of sod's and lately restarts for no apparent reason.
personally cm 7.2 is the bomb
