Hellow all
I updated my x10 to 2.1.A.0.435 last week
It was all fine for the first few days
But I found something terrible two days ago
My battery is draining for no reason!!
I dont know why!!
It drained from 100% to 18% in one night(8hr)
and it said most of the battery was used on cell standby(52%)
I've never seen this before
Before I updated the battery was mostly used on display or idling
I have every setting the same as it was in 2.0.A.0.024
Does anybody have the same problem as I do?
Please help me
thx

That sounds like exactly what happened for me as well. It was fine 5 days and then went downhill with the cell standby number getting bigger and bigger.
Any solutions?
Thanks much.
sounds very much like a faulty app to me, stopping the phone from sleeping. What did you install immediately prior to the phone battery problems starting? Do you have a task killer? if they're not properly set up they can prevent the phone from sleeping.
I haven't installed any new apps for a while.
May be really flash again. I did mine n its gives me one full day n a bit more

I forgot about Handy Calc, which I did install about the time of the battery problem. I uninstalled it and went back to my old program, Real Calc. let's see if that was the problem.
Thanks for helping.

hope it helps
had the same prob but installed juice defender and enabled auto kill in aggresive mode and each 30 mins
sometimes it can last for like 4 days w/o charging (using 3g) others not so lucky lol
I ran into the same problem.
What causes Cell Standby to run so high that I have found to work for me is 1 of 2 reasons.
1: Your phone is continualy searching for service
2: Your phone is not staying on 3G and is jumping back and forth from 3G to Edge network due to bad service. Or your on Edge and it is trying to connect to an unavailable 3G Network.
I fixed my problem with turning off 3G Service unless I know for a fact that it is available. As far as not having service, turn on Airplane Mode to keep your cell from searching for service.
How to know whether Im in a good condition of service?
The signal is well (3 of the 4 bars on the frame)
and I think Im always on 3G (I can see only 3G or H on the frame)
But the pointer only shows up when Im downloading apps
Is it normal?
Thx
Reflashed again from update service
installed only astro file manager, google map, systemapp remover and market
but still has the problem......
it is now
cell standby 33%
display 30%
phone idle 26%
can somebody please help..........please......
I think the problem is the 2.1.A.0.435. Almost everyone who updated the firmware to use Z's Froyo Beta 4 reported battery draining issues and some guys suggested that the problem could be sony's new firmware/baseband. Since it affects both ppl using official 2.1 and 2.2.1 Beta 4, seems like they were right. Only workaround I found is keeping the phone with edge only, since the draining issue seems 3g related.
I most definately agree with the above post about the app '' juice defender ''. My battery started sucking the juice after the latest firmware update and even more after the FreeX10 Beta4 ROM but now it last longer than any other time. Just customize the settings for your tastes. I have found that it is not needed to use a task killer.
having the same battery drain problem. Pre 435 update I got 2-3 days without charging, immediately after upgrading to 435 the battery dropped to 60% after 4 hours. No wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G or new apps installed. I just think its a crappy software build.
I have the same problem, battery drain 75% in 10 hours, only make 2 calls (10mins) during the 10 hours , I have cell stand by 54% .
After reading this thread, I check my phone and found that Cell Standby is on 67% on .435 firmware. It used to be the Display which is having higher percentage of use. But I never see any unusual drain on my phone. It still drop 1% overnight from 10pm to 7am...
i had this kind of problems on my optimus, wildfire also x10.some apps even after uninstalling leave mess on phone memory which drains battery.i always did hard reset and battery got back to normal
Hi Everyone,
I am disappointed with the battery of Optimus One.
My Battery in Standby (GPS/Wi-fi/3g/Sync/Screen, ALL OFF and without USE ), does not last even 20 hours.
I have an application that shows what application is consuming more battery power and the "phone in standby mode" takes up 95%!
What are your experiences with this battery?
Mine has problems?
Thx
I bought it one week ago and the battery last one day with no problem (and it's not at its full "potential" since is new). When did you buy the phone?
I bought it 2 weeks ago
Using a custom rom you won't be disappointed with your battery no more...
I have openOptimus Rom with Franco kernel 15. I am at 85% battery after 14 hours. The phone has been pretty much idle.
Only 2G networks
Data disabled
Wi-fi on
Auto-sync on
Overclocked 480/729 interactive (interactive may not be optimal)
I'm using franco kernel v15.1 with devoid.franco, i'll try do update do devoid.froyo.final today.

Hi, what is data disabled? and how to put only 2g networks?
20 hours on idling? Send it back for repair/replace. Mine will last days if left idling (about 1% every two hours)
When I travel I turn all data connections off (Bluetooth, wifi, gps, data) and it lasts about 3days

Here are some potential things to turn off that might make the battery last longer. They are all in the settings app. I do not do all these since I find that some things might make the battery last longer but reduce the usefulness of the phone.
Setting/Display/Brightness
Setting/wireless & networks/wi-fi off
Setting/wireless & networks/bluetooth off*
Setting/wireless & networks/mobile networks/use only 2G networks*
Setting/wireless & networks/mobile networks/data enabled off* (I have this turned off all the time as I do not have a data plan.)
The items * I have off unless I am actively using them. I also overclock my Optimus. I think that this probably gives me a longer battery life, since it is running at 480 when I am not using it. I suppose if I was desperate, I would undercloack the phone (min 480 and max 480).
What version of Android are you running? 2.2 or 2.2.1/2.2.2?
When you click on Cell Standby, how much Time Without Signal does it show?
follow these steps and i think ull have what you want..
go to battery use and click on cell standby : then see time without signal. how much does it show ? if its above even one percent (unless uve mannually put ur device in airplane mode) i know the problem.
go to settings >wireless & network settings > mobile network > mark 2G only (if u are not using 3G) cause the cell might spen loads of battery searching for 3G.. then go to network operators and search for (mannually) and select ur own network provider.. like mine is airtel.. then let your battery run down totally.. completly to zero. then recharge your phone to full without any break.. this is called recaliberation. then see how much your battery lasts..
remember to turn off bletooth, wifi, internet, all ! while the phone is idle and you wont be using it for sometime. or, if you wont be doing or getting any calls or sms, consider switching to airplane mode..
you might be getting less battery if ur in a area with weak signal strength.. this makes the phone go wilder to search for signal. in these conditions, switch to airplane mode if you can . thatll save a lot of battery. and also during night if you want to.
dont hesitate to click the thanx if i helped !
EDIT: and ya every thing that the person after me 'Y.u.v.i' said.. though those are normal things and brightness level is most important..
and about francos kernel, ive had many f/c s with mik's cm7 beta 6.2.5 ..i prefer its own kernel , though dunno for other roms.. u might wanna try it.. ill try myself too..
yes ..few step here u can try
1.reduce ur brightness level to minimum ...
2. use 2g signal only.
3. turn off all extra connection like wi-fi , Bluetooth, auto sync , data.
4. use advance task killer and set it to auto kill app aftr every 30 mints.
5.automatic screen time to 30 sec.
6.if u r using custom ROM use Franco 15.1 kernal . and wipe battery after charging it up-to 100%
use thanks if u like my post ...
I did all the tips posted here. Let us now see what happens

I'm using 2.2
7% without signal.
Sorry for the dumb question (about 2.2 or 2.2.x) - I didn't read the first page carefully enough.
Try this: reboot, then enable airplane mode, lock your screen and leave it like that for about a minute, unlock screen, disable airplane mode.
Are you still seeing Time Without Signal? (of course, after a few hours, not straight away)
EDIT:
DON'T do any of the following:
- reduce brightness to 1%... come on, be serious! you really like squinting at the screen? screen brightness doesn't affect battery life that much anyway...
- don't use task killers! it doesn't matter if you have little RAM - it's there to be used. I will not go into details about this (there's whole threads about it), but trust me!
You could also try monitoring your apps with https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zomut.watchdoglite&feature=search_result and see if any of them start behaving wildly and keep your CPU awake.
Another thing would be to try Nessy Hypnos2... I had great battery life when using that ROM! If you're still experiencing the same battery drain with a fresh install of Hypnos, then I'm sorry to tell you but you'll probably have to send your phone for repairs.
I ended up recharging the phone two hours ago and it is at 91%.
Was 9% in 2 Hours - 4,5% per Hour. Very Bad...
...with nothing in use.
Only 2g networks
wi-fi/dates/sync/bluetooth ( ALL OFF )
Screen OFF (black, with -0% of brigth, because he is OFF)
I install Battery Monitor Widget that estimates my uses of battery in:
18h52m of Discharge (100->0%)
and 5h of charg in USB and 3h of charge inc AC.
I'm installing watchdog now, to see if have an App draining battery.
EDIT:
But I do not think that's because I have an application that shows the the CPU clock in%.
480MHz = 80%
729Mh = 20% or less
and another that shows the applications that consume battery
and Cell Standby = 90%

I got the same. My phone is also on the same settings, same rom, same kernel. Battery life was awesome some days ago, but now I experience average battery drain, I think I need to callibrate my phone as well. :/ I will do it probably after flashing void.final.
So I got a galaxy s3 from kogan, and it arrived with android 4.1.1 on it, but as soon as I connected it to my home wifi, it downloaded 4.1.2
i'm not sure if my battery life is the norm, but i get up at 6:30, get my phone off the charger at about 7:15, catch the bus for about an hour to get to school, and by the time i'm at school, the battery is already down to 90%, or lower, and that is only with the occasional facebook message or comment, and a few snapchats. by the end of my school day (3:05) i have about 50% battery, with only maybe half an hour total useage since i got of the bus at school. by the time i get home (5 ish) i'm usually down to 30-15%, depending. i don't play any games on my phone (because i'm trying to save battery), and my phone is connected to the wifi at school and the wifi at home but it is off during the travel time in between. I have power saving on and my screen brightness down to the lowest with auto brightness on. is this normal or is my battery draining faster than it should?
p.s. I am not rooted and on the stock rom 4.1.2
Here are some screenshots of the battery usage, it wouldn't let me attach them before

Try disabling the notifications from Facebook and Messenger. It's probably the main cause for your battery drain.
Also try to disable the Sync option, Mobile Data (turn on when needed, not all the time! you won't believe how much battery it saves) etc etc..
I turned off notifications for facebook (but not messenger, all my friends are on prepaid so i dont txt much, i use messenger instead) and sync, and the battery still drops the same! my battery usage says that media server is using at least %20 of the battery! why is this?
you may try using the apps Greenify and DS Battery Saver
I use SotMax ROM and I for the same use for about 2 days the phone: P

lol ... you can switch of everything and have a nice paperweight
Now seriously... If you don't use data then in Settings-Network switch to GSM only, set sync to 2 or 4 hours (depends how many emails you getting).
Fully charge the battery (switched OFF when charging), when charged (100%) don't turn ON, remove battery and touch the battery connections on the phone for about 15 seconds. Then reinsert battery, boot into Bootloader and go to Advanced - Battery stats and clear them. Then reboot... You should be fine after this.
Root phone and use greenify.
Also remove useless apps, which you can find in running tab

I already disable it, but still will pop out in battery, any idea ??
and will drain a lot battery which also cause phone very warm
If you already have not. Disable the connection optimizer. Somehow it got enabled after the update. I was at 20% battery almost half way through my day. Now I finish my day with 60%. Battery life is actually great now!
Settings > More Settings > Mobile Networks > Connection optimizer ( MAKE SURE IT IS UNCHECKED )

maybe your phone doesn't go into deep sleep mode, use better battery stats to see what causes a kernel wakelock
hit thanks if it helps
I came from a ICS custom ROM and kernel and now have a JB (4.1.2) custom ROM and kernel.
And I don't know if it's me, or now the battery drains faster. I have done all the things a man can do to stop draining: minimun brightness, not a single one automatic synchronization, maaany system apps frozen, using Greenify to hibernate another bunch of them, power saver mode activated... anything I have ever read since I got my android phone (more than a year).
And still, with only a few minutes on WhatsApp and other few on wifi, I only get like a day, more or less.
Is that normal? I want to know the average, because I don't know if it is my phone/battery, or the new JB, or if all of this is just in my head.
Also, viewing streaming videos over wifi drains a lot. That is normal, right? Like two hours of video over wifi, is that OK?
Thanks.
You can try a custom kernel or custom rom xD

I just want to know if this is normal or not.
2 hours of video on a HD display will surely drain the battery and even warms up the phone. that is normal.

Hello everyone, I'm using Motorola Atrix with Epinter CM10 4.1 ROM for last 2 months, I was very happy with battery life. Phone wasn't getting hot and with normal usage, even with 3G on (in my country only options are 2G and 3G), I could get %40 of battery end of the day. But for no reason, phone has started to get hot (only 2G on) and drains battery really quickly for last 1 week. I can't even get %5 battery left from morning to evening now. I didn't change anything, only installed Adobe Flash 11.1, then I deleted it but nothing has changed. Phone gets into deep sleep no problem with that, no background apps. I did a virus scan both on phone and from computer, both came out clean. I reinstalled rom. Nothing. I'm gonna crash my phone against wall it's really annoying. I think I'm gonna do factory wipe and reinstall rom again.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Do you leave wifi switched on at all times?
I use MIUI on my Atrix (partially based on epinter's work, I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong), but I have found that the phone suddenly starts staying awake for no apparent reason a while (often a couple of days) after I've left wifi switched on. This obviously causes bad battery drain. I can usually get the phone to sleep again by rebooting with wifi switched off (I think) and a battery pull is invariably required.
I now just switch on wifi when I have large files to download then turn it off straight afterwards.
Not sure if it is the same issue or not, but Better Battery Stats (which can be downloaded on xda) indicated the Rilj process was stopping the phone from sleeping when this problem occurred. It is worth trying this app to see if it gives any indication what is causing your battery drain.

No I switch between mobile data and wifi. Thank you for your suggestions and opinions but I really don't think my problem is about sleep. It started to get hot and drain when I actually use the phone. For example, I was checking Twitter for 10 min. with 3G and battery was dropping %1. Now it drops %5 with 2G on and gets really hot like 35-37 Celsius degree. I'm using Watchdog to oversee processes and nothing is working without my knowledge on background.
Hi,
I have the same problem on the nottachtrix roms since the last 2 weeks, I tried switching to epinter cm10 with no luck. Ordered a new battery to check if the battery is dead or if the atrix is faulty
if you find a fix, please post it here

install gsam battery monitor to see your phone's awake time. this drain happens to me also when i listen to music or take a photo. something with mediaserver keeps the phone awake and then only thing to do is kill mediaserver or a reboot.
Regardless of which other apps you are using to monitor app and process usage, I'd recommend trying Better Battery Stats as this is much more detailed and low-level than other apps I've encountered.
It's a free download for xda members:

Little update.
I turned back to factory settings, then did a full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe. I was so annoyed I even did system wipe manually from advanced options in recovery. I reinstalled Epinter CM10 rom, got my apps back thanks to Titanium Backup. Installed GSAM (thanks to saldirai), downloaded SetCpu and chose Nvidia Tegra 2 T20/AP20H, underclocked to 912 mhz. Couldn't done any undervolting sadly, says something about governor.
Now I'm checking battery stats and temperature by GSAM, so far no complaints and better from yesterday BUT I haven't use my phone heavily yet. Temperature changes between 26-31 Celsius degrees, battery drops %1-2 percent on use -also it needs calibration- with only wifi use which is always on. I'll update this post if anything changes.
Update: I think I've found the problem. When I choose The Weather Channel widget to "use my location" phone immediately starts to get warm. Weird point is, this wasn't an issue before. Apart from that I'm playing New Star Soccer and Carmageddon for 3-4 hours with wi-fi full time on and battery drops to %30. I'm really happy about that. Normal battery temperature is about 25-32 during the day and different from before it quickly gets cold after I stop playing games. Just like before.
Well i just got the LG G3 and am using it on GSM.
prior to using i rooted ,TWRP and loaded jasmine 4.0 , also put in skydragon kernel 2.9.4 s 3.0 had crazy boot times.
I am trying to get the max out of the phone what ive noticed is that the phone just doesn't wanna deep sleep.
I have greenify , xposed (amplify) and noticed the issue of battery being drained when idle , i went to sleep and saw it was at 50% , woke up to 10% battery, my older phones never dropped more than 2% overnight,
To investigate loaded BBS and wakelock detector , nothing that pops up out of the ordinary
So my question is what do you guys do to max the battery outta this , what can i do ? i dont really see any apps causing it to wakeup . suggestions or any would be appreciated
any other stock rom also if you could suggest for battery life ? ive heard good about cloudy 1.2 as well.
I have really gotten great battery life out of sky dragon along with the 3.0.2 SD kernel (kernel is in the orig Dev section). Along with amplify ad greenify.

I work from home, so my phone spends 90% of its time on WiFi - I was getting terrible battery drain and only 50% deep sleep on a good day. One day, I left the house and noticed great battery life and plenty of deep sleep on a 4G connection (which is the opposite of what I expected).
After trying nearly everything, I discovered the fix was as a simple as turning on the "Battery Saving for WiFi" setting under Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced Wi-Fi". I've been getting great battery life and deep sleep times when I'm at home now.
Give it a shot and see if it solves your issue.
Also, ever since daylight savings time went into effect, I noticed both my phone and my wife's phone keep randomly changing time zone for no reason. Looks like the phone is struggling to automatically detect the time zone from the carrier and causing battery drain as a result. I disabled the setting to automatically detect the time zone (and manually set it for PDT) and the battery drain stopped on both of our devices. Could be unique to my area but may be something to try as well.

I thought the same as well which is why I discounted this as being a cause for 4 months....I have 15 other android devices and none have exhibited this behavior so I was surprised that such a trivial setting could have had this impact.
To answer your question, I am currently running:
- BeanTowns stock 11B ROM
- SkyDragon 2.9.7 kernel
- Xposed installed with Disabled Services running
- Selected stock apps/services disabled
I don't use greenify/amplify (don't see the need as my average daily drop is anywhere from 1.6% - 2.4%/hour with moderate use).
