I have AT&T version of m9, rooted, s-off, running the international firmware with venomrom. And unfortunately it died on me... It boots up, but doesn't get to setup screen. I've tried wiping, re-installing fresh rom, etc. And of course it worked fine before with venomrom, so I know I didn't do anything wrong
Anyway, it looks like there's something wrong with it, and I want to bring it back to as original as possible and bring it in for repair. Has anyone done this? Where could I download original AT&T firmware/ROM? And should I s-on the device? Did HTC give any issues with s-off when brought in for repairs? Or should I not bother with bring it back to original and HTC will repair it in its current state?

I had to send in my m8 to ATT before. It was s-off. I just ran the latest ruu and sent it back like that. They never told me anything

Hi everyone,
I'm really hoping someone can help me with getting my E3D S-off with the wire trick. Even though I've been a member on this site for a couple years, I never really did much on here because I haven't done much with my phone until now. So, I'm hoping that being a newbie, someone can help me...
Long story short, I've been waiting patiently until the official ICS update from Sprint to be able to root my phone and finally install a custom ROM without all the Sprint bloatware and finally have a clean, stock ICS ROM on my phone. For the past two days I've been trying to do the wire trick by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813818
It's just that my phone will NOT let me do it! I've successfully unlocked the bootloader on hboot 1.58 and rooted the phone with superuser. When I go to do the wire trick, after running JuopunutBear's Wire Trick, all I get is to the point where it says "Seconday Backup FAILED at Beginning!!" and just exits the program.
I've literally done everything. I read that it's caused by a custom ROM or having HTC Sync installed on my PC. The ROM I have is the stock Sprint ICS 4.0 ROM that was installed by the RUU. I've wiped my SD card and even used two other cards, and it STILL won't work. I have no idea what to do anymore. After two days of having a blank phone, I've just about given up. I know there's gotta be a way to do it, but I just can't figure it out. I can't find anything regarding this problem from anyone else on this site or anywhere on Google. People say they had the problem and it fixed itself, but I can't get past it. Can someone please help? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should try flashing a stock GINGERBREAD ROM. The thing with JuopunutBear is that you need crucial files from GB. Unless they updated it, I may be wrong.
Instead of flashing an RUU, look for a full stock ROM for your phone.
Then it should work perfectly.
I did it on my GSM EVO 3D, but there was a better guide on here for it, however, it's gone now.
I wish you luck, comment back if it doesn't work.
I actually restored the original RUU which didn't work, and then flashed the PG86IMG.zip file for the ICS ROM and that didn't work either. I've gone through all the steps of unlocking and rooting multiple times, and it still gives me that backup message. I have no idea what else to do.
Also, the phone is new - Sprint replaced it under warranty for me because the bezel of my old one was coming loose which they said is a common problem, so they swapped it out with a fresh one for me. The only thing I can think of is maybe that daemon message I get when I start the fastboot? It says something like "Daemon not started. Starting on port 5037." Does the port have anything to do with it?
I'm gonna try flashing a stock Gingerbread ROM now. I'm downloading the 2.17.651.5 release - I think that's the official Gingerbread update from Sprint. I'll post back soon - thanks for your help.

Make sure you watch the screen on the phone until the prompts for superuser have appeared and been approved. Also, have you read through the JuopunutBear thread in the stickies of the development forum? There's a lot of information in there and a link to a good video by zedomax, and if that isn't enough to get you through it you can get some live help by logging into the IRC channel from the support page on the unlimited.io website.

I appreciate the help so far. I tried returning to a stock Gingerbread ROM to do the S-off trick since they thought maybe it had something to do with files from Gingerbread that weren't in the ICS ROM, but the phone won't let me do it. Running the official RUU fails and says it can't update the software, and trying to flash the PG86IMG.zip from the bootloader just ignores it - I boot the phone, it spends five minutes loading and checking, then just goes back to the menu. I read you can't flash an older firmware update over a newer one unless you have S-off, but since that's what I'm trying to get at, that obviously won't work.
So, I gave up and flashed the official RUU for ICS and it flashed fine and put me back at the stock Sprint software. Unlocked bootloader, rooted and tried the S-off again, and got the same problem. I'm giving up on it for the night but I'll research the stickies tomorrow at work and see what I can find and if anyone else might have had this problem. I don't feel like accepting the fact that there's no way to get S-off on this phone. Seems everyone else had no problems.
Thanks again for all your help so far!

JuopunutBear will work fine with the Sprint ICS 2.89 build installed, but make sure you use the version designed for that build.
Good luck!

Okay cool, just let me know. Thanks.
So I figured I would update on this but I'm sure no one really cares.
I FINALLY got S-off using the wire trick by installing a quick custom ROM and trying the process again. For some reason the guide I used said to use the stock untouched ROM but it didn't work for me, even though everyone else seems to have had luck.
So, after flashing a ROM quick through ext4 worked for me, and I flashed CoolROM with Sense 4.1. Looks good, but there's no 4G. I get full 4G coverage where I live, so I'm gonna kind of miss that. I was originally looking for a clean stock ICS ROM without Sense, but when I said this with Sense 4.1 I figured I'd give it a shot. Does anyone know of a stable ROM with working 4G and everything else? The whole reason I decided to root and get S-off was to finally remove all the Sprint bloatware, so I want a clean ROM. If anyone knows of a good ROM, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

Hi. I'm in one of those boat situations.
Rooted my international UK hox+ which is on O2.
ENRC2B_U_JB_45
CID O2___001
Build 1.17.401.1
HBOOT 1.35.0000
Radio 3.1204.168.32
Just wondering if its possible to restore using someone else's nandroid backup from a different but same cid phone?
Tried to extract the rom from the O2 RUU but rar/7zip won't have any of it.
Also wondering if there are RUU updates in the future that will sort me back to stock? If so it it just a matter of time?
Sorry for bringing up the same thing you keep hearing about but just wanna settle my head. Thanks

It would appear that either there is no solution or nobody knows what the solution is.

Yea. Have a very good friend giving me advise.
should be able to push the firmware.zip 0.35 through adb sideload.
Will let you know if I get it sorted. Just after stock for a nandroid back up.
its what we get for not making backups :x

Perhaps, I am a bit confused.
I do have a nandroid back up, but the version is showing hboot 1.35 and this is apparently why I am not able to run the Stock RUU even after I have relocked the bootloader.
I was under the impression that when I originally did the rooting etc, this changed my hboot version from 1.30 to1.35.
I have already bricked my phone once and it cost me heavily so I am now very cautious not to do the same thing again.
All I want to do is return to Original Stock.
At the moment there are only old releases of ruu which won't work, cause of newer hboot. If someone provides a backup you will have success, but most Users don't share their backups. I opened a thread for backups, with less success
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X+ mit Tapatalk 2
Was thinking to try push firmware on it. Or will O2 throw a RUU in the future? If they ever.
I have a nandroid backup that I did before flashing the updated ROM onto my phone.
This backup was done just after I had unlocked and rooted my phone.
What action actually caused the updating of hboot ?
Was it the unlocking of the bootloader or the rooting ?
Because if it was neither of these actions, then I have a nandroid backup that has the original hboot version.
But, unless I am failing to carry out some other action when trying to return to stock, my present hboot version is 1.35.
Do any of the Developers read this thread or Experienced people because I would like to know what action actually updates the HBOOT version ?
Is it the Unlocking ?
Is it the Rooting ?
Is it the Flashing of an Updated ROM, like AOKP Jelly Bean 4.2.2 ?
For a new person like me, this is a learning curve and it is interesting to understand what actually takes place.
did anything happen with this? Id like to go back to stock, purely just to wipe the phone clean, but the o2 uk ruu fails saying wrong version. my hboot is 1.35.0000 radio 3.1204.168.32.
Is it possible for me to get back to stock?
is there another way of wiping the phone clean?
You have to use a backup.
Install a clean one , install stock recovery and lock your phone.
Thats all
I opened a thread a couple of month ago, but nobody provides backups ...

already told you, there's no RUU for our devices....just find a plain stock rom...
Have a Rezound. Was flashed to Page Plus with it, but was sick of 1x speed, so I decided to go over to Verizon. Upgraded to a new phone (not the Rezound), but then decided I didn't like it enough to commit for 2 years. I would like my Rezound to work on Verizon, but so far, it isn't.
I did an RUU restore because one page said that would undo everything that flashing had done. I used the 4.03.605.2 710RD one.
Then I tried to activate. I got 4g to work, but I can't make any phone calls or send any texts. I took it to a local Verizon store where the guy spent about an hour on the phone with his tech support, replaced the SIM card, and tried a bunch of stuff before telling me the problem was the software version. He said the problem was the software number: 4.03.605.2 710RD. He said that isn't supported and that the guy on the phone had never heard of it. I'm currently downloading a different RUU, but I have serious doubts as to whether or not that will resolve anything.
Any ideas? I'd just like to get this phone Verizon compatible again.
Thanks. And I will be grateful and post if something is or isn't successful.
If you've run the latest RUU and it's updated HBOOT and radios...boot the phone into bootloader and perform a factory reset via HBOOT menu. It doesn't make sense but it seems to solve some radio issues.
THANK YOU!

I don't know what to say. It worked. Phone is working fully with Verizon again. That was so stupid-easy. I am truly shocked. THANK YOU! I really, really, really appreciate your help.
Really, thank you again.
A few months ago I, posted a thread with a similar idea in mind however, the only answer I got was (I'm paraphrasing) "Why go back to stock, the custom ROMS are much better anyways". Well the time has come where I figure out the "why?". Yesterday I brought the phone into Wind for a check of why it's not sending MMS messages when the data is on (strangely enough it turns data on while sending the mms but, that's a story for another time). The people at Wind refused to look at my phone and told me to come back when it has stock firmware. (because, obviously I haven't returned to stock yet). Now from what I understand, from doing some research today on the forums, that the HTC Amaze (Wind Variant) has some weird software issues upon flashing a T-Mobile based ROM which I can link back to Speed Rom. So, I do the standard "Relock the bootloader and run the RUU.exe" and it just comes up with an error saying my hboot is the wrong version. The forums are pretty blank on ways to get around this (well besides going S-OFF which is a problem considering I need to bring my phone in to get the MMS issue checked. Also, I don't have that level of confidence in myself to insure I don't destroy my phone when going s-off). So, I was wondering if anyone has a fix for the issue. I'm confident that someone could possibly help me with my issue. (PS my current ROM is the latest Cyanogenmod 10 nightly, and I'm using 4ext recovery on the Amaze/Ruby).
Hope, I can get this issue resolved and thank you for helping me out with what ever problems I've had on my journey with this phone.
P.S: I didn't mean to double post the same question it's just I really needed this problem solved. I hope you can forgive me. (I fully understand if I can't return to stock under these circumstances.)
It's funny, I'm kind of in the same boat, except for 2 "minor" differences:
1) The "Smart Flash" on 4EXT never worked for me (and has consistently corrupted my internal SD card, but been able to fix it each time), so I have S-ON yet
2) I've rooted the phone itself and unlocked the bootloader, but the HBOOT is 1.93.0002, and from what I've seen, the latest firmware patch is .2222 although that really shouldn't matter
This is my 2nd HTC Amaze, and the first time I've gone through the rooting and that, took me at most an hour to complete, including time spent choosing a CMOD (I ended up with 7). This time around...I'm practically pulling my hair out because I cannot perform the S-OFF via Linux (LiveCD of course) nor starting from "square 1". I seem to be in limbo with 4EXT.
I installed Viper Amaze 1.7.2, but continually got stuck on the boot screen. Further investigation revealed that I needed to superCID the phone, which in turn would be to S-OFF first.
Additionally, I've downloaded and flashed the "stock ICS" ROM (since that was my stock ROM to begin with, naturally upgraded ICS), renamed to PH85IMG.zip yadda yadda. It recognizes and loads, but never "updates", more or less does anything after the loading bar on the bootloader.
So, just to try how much I've dug myself in with this, I've downloaded and tried 2 other ROMS, both saying "bad" (no status 7 error like the RUU flash).
I want to try out the Viper Amaze ROM since so much work and effort went into it, and it seriously looks awesome, but because my original tool that I used (HTC Super Tool) didn't require me all of these extra steps (and I didn't remember the program until now), I want to return back to stock so I can start over in a sense and complete those couple of steps that I inadvertently missed. I really feel like I'm missing something stupid.
Out of 7 Android phones that I've completed the custom ROM setup, it has to be this phone...
Anyways, tl;dr here's what I got:
Bootloader:
**Unlocked**
Ruby PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 1.93.0002
eMMC-boot
Starting ROM: Wind Mobile ICS 4.0.3 Stock ROM
End ROM: Viper Amaze 1.7.2
Where I'm At: 4EXT, Status 7 error upon stock ROM flash. No other custom ROM works. PH85IMG.zip doesn't seem to do much upon loading via bootloader.

I actually have the same HBOOT version as you! I have never met a device which had more difficulties going back to stock than the Wind variant of the Amaze. Anyway best of luck on your issue, and just try to remember me if you find a way back to stock. I guess we are on the same boat and the Wind isn't helping us out *Budum Tssss* . (BTW if you manage to make it back to stock I suggest you use hasoon2000's toolkit for the Amaze. It's a good toolkit for the Amaze.)

I managed to install the Viper Amaze. I went back, relocked the bootloader, got a new
ID token unlock key, and reflashed (the hell out of) everything. It actually worked.
As for the Wind Rom push back, try the EXE found here on XDA:

I tried, that EXE seems to only be for update from Gingerbread purposes or, was broke after I flashed a T-Mobile ROM on the device.
