[Q] Screen mirroring freezes on Lollipop - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I really want to get screen mirroring to work on my S3. The mirroring does start, but almost freezes. After 1 or 2 minutes the second frame appears on the screen while the S3 keeps running smoothly.
I've tried a few different Lollipop ROMs (5.0.1 to 5.1.1), but they all have the same issue.
Screen mirroring on my Oppo Find 7 running Lollipop (5.0.1) works just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. Or even any ideas how too debug this?
Any help at all would be really appreciated.
Some background information:
I have build a 7" screen in my car dashboard with a Miracast dongle connected. I want to hide the S3 somewhere in the dashboard and add a lot of nice features, but I first need screen mirroring to work smoothly.
I've tried MHL, but MHL is only supported with stock Samsung ROMs and MHL interferes with GPS

+1

i feel stupid as well, ls hdmi is also in wet dream and i have no idea how to use it, any help here guys?
There's no switch for turning it on and off.
Literally plug it in to your TV via HDMI, switch to that input on the TV and it should display your phone. Mine sometimes goes odd if I start mirroring in Landscape, but turning it to portrait and back again fixes this.
If you want sound over HDMI there are two little scripts in the same place as the supercharger script one for toggling sound over HDMI and one for toggling sound from your phone. They need to be run as root using script manager.
Just a quick note (on Wet Dream, anyway): even after plugging in the HDMI cable, nothing activates on my phone until the TV input is switched over. That's when the Picker launches.
At my side on Neutrino,
I have play with the sound output switch and now it works... Can't explain.
Now I'd like to know how to incerase the HDMI output resolution, it's so pixelized...
Any idea ?
Works great on Neutrino Rom 2.2 with faux kernel.
The only issue is that the sound have to set manually on and off.
And some games (Reckless Racing 2) doesn't run on the Atrix with high fps and that is a little bit disappointing because I can't enjoy games in slow motion.
But everything else works fine!
Motorola Atrix 4G AT&T unlocked
ya the output for me is a little to large as well and a little grainy. i wish there was the overscan fix, but i was told in the neutrino forum that hdmi mirror (ls or not) is not native to cm7 so it's a work in progress
Good news:

If you are looking for wireless mirroring then you will need one of these.
AllShare Cast Wireless Hub
Otherwise, you can use a MHL adapter for wired mirroring.
MHL Adpater

Theoretically then it should work unless there is some incompatibility. Don't have personal experience of the same, so I suppose you will have to wait for a response from someone who has tried out screen mirroring using the S3.
Same problem here
Hi, maybe it's too late for an useful answer, but... the "Screen Mirroring" works on Sony TVs, and without the all-share cast dongle!
I have a Sony W6 (2013), connected via WiFi.
With stock rom 4.3 just connect the S3 to the same network, turn on screen mirroring on the phone and the Screen Mirroring should star automatically!
But screen mirroring doesn't work with a modded rom, in that case will appear the message "unable to start screen mirroring because of a hardware issue". Maybe the flash counter must be "0"... I don't know if there's a way to use this functionality with a modded rom.

[Q] Flakey mhl. Is this a cable issue?

I have aZ2 tab and a Z3 comact phone, both are fully up to date with Lollipop. On the tab, when I try to use the mhl cable, the tab screen collapses into a very narrow band of picture at the bottom of the screen. I then have to reboot and the picture on the TV and the tab seem fine - for about 10 minutes then there is a high pitched whistle from the tab and it crashes completely. The phone connects without problem but as with the tab, after 10 mins there is the whistle then the crash.
When I bought the cable I didn't realize that there were diferent versions and bought the v 2.0. Could this simply be the problem or are there issues with the firmware?
Thanks

Quick connect / screen mirror - Nougat issue?

Sharing my screen from a S7 edge to a Samsung 8 series 64" SUHD TV was as easy as screen mirroring.
After my nougat update, it no longer connects. It says "connecting" and then says Cannot Connect and then terminates attending to connect.
This is on quick connect or screen mirror.
I have unpaired Bluetooth and trusted devices and re-selected. For now, it's not working and a huge frustration.
Any knowledge of issues or exact steps to make this help would be most useful.
Thank you!!
I have a Vizio smart TV and a chrome cast that I use on Occasion and for the most part they work fine but on some phones and roms you have to keep on clicking connect/cast when it does that. I've had the same problem connecting before and It usually works. Good luck

Screen mirroring

Just checking if anyone has had success with simple hdmi screen mirroring to duplicate the Mi Pad 4 (wifi) to a simple monitor?
No Chromecast or wifi option available. Plugging my Mi Pad in running Carbon via an hdmi connector, the pad just freezes and goes black. Before I start trying other ROMs has anyone had success in screen mirroring?
Many thanks for any comments.
