Hi,
My Lg Optimus One stops receiving calls (calls go directly to voice mail) and texts at seemingly random times without warning. Restarting the phone fixes this problem, but only temporarily.
The problem started only recently while running the Void rom, and has continued since flashing Nessy #Hypnos only a few days ago.
Any help is appreciated.

have you tried reflashing void rom?
It may be network problem. But if u don't want to reboot. Just select aeroplane mode and come back to normal mode.

No, I thought it may be a problem with Void so I instead flashed the Nessy rom (which changed nothing).

Toggling aeroplane mode on and off works as well. I suspect my phone may be faulty, but a network problem makes sense.

Also try, use only 2g network from settings,as phone tries to switch between 2g and 3g for better network.

I have recently switched to Oxygen mod for P500 (LG Optimus One) version 2.8 and am experiencing an issue similar to you.
From time to time (maybe twice a week), I attempt to use the phone to make a call and it does not work (call duration is 0s). I cannot receive a call either, or get voicemail notifications. Using data works correctly though. I am using the Telus network.
Switching to plane mode and back fixes the problem. But it is not a viable long term fix as I never know if I can or cannot be reached...

I did not have the issue with the stock Froyo firmware. I did not use the stock Gingerbread firmware long enough to confirm if the problem was present or not. I often use the underground subway where there is not signal, I have a feeling it might be related to the issue. I will attempt to always test if I have the problem before and after using the subway.
Hi all,
is there anyone else who experiences this?
=> my mobile data more often than not refuses to work, unless I reboot the phone. After rebooting it will work. Since I normally turn off mobile data unless I need it, this forces me to reboot the phone +- every time I need mobile data.
Does anyone have the faintest idea how I can troubleshoot this? What to look for in logcat/dmesg?
Thanks

Thanks, but assuming this is a reliable way to get 3g back, how can I find out what the reason is that it gets lost in the first place, and what's wrong with the phone?
I have experienced that too, after flashing new kernel then my mobile data didn't work properly. It kept losing signal, turning on and off airplane mode helped but that wasn't the solution.
Right then I reflashed the old kernel and it went back to normal.
Is it true that any code in kernels affects mobile data performance?
I flashed FK 16.1 on LOL 1.4.2 when it happened.
Regards
This happens in my 2.2 (v10c) also. It does start working if I reboot the phone. Alternatively, if you simply turn the data off for sometime (15-20 min) and then start it again, it starts working.
Maybe its got to do with some kind of lag between pressing the button and the phone actually recieving the data activation signal...or something like that
or the tower is overloaded by many users...
~So I haven't really seen anyone else with this issue so I don't know how to fix it.
My phone likes to randomly not load things via internet. Mostly happens with ATT Data connections, but sometimes it happens with Wifi as well I believe (hasn't happened with wifi in a long time).
I can try and load a page and it will simply not load a thing for a good while (sometimes hours), then all of a sudden it will load like it's on a 10MB connection.
Happens with the internet browser, facebook, and any internet apps. Really gets annoying when I'm trying to browse the internet
I have tried different APNs to no avail, tried turning wifi on/off, changing all wifi settings, etc.
Anyone got any suggestions? (Maybe I'm just retarded and there's a well-known fix for this... at least I can hope right?)
Thanks
EDIT: It also used to never send MMS until I changed APN's if that makes any difference. Just not sure if its a software/setting issue, or if its hardware that needs to be replaced.
There are two APN settings, one of which is used by MMS. It sounds as if your APN settings might have been wrong at one point. What are your APN settings now?
Are you on a different ROM? Do you use a 3rd party app to disable and enable the data connection (to save power)? I know my app sometimes doesn't turn the data back on, so I have to go in and do it myself.
Is this your first phone with AT&T? If so, where did you transfer form? Did you have a data plan with your previous carrier? Did you buy your phone from Amazon?

My APN settings are the "phone" HSPA and "phone" MMS settings from the large thread in this forum.
The phone isn't even rooted. No different ROM, just a stock phone. No 3rd party apps that disable/enable data.

I've had ATT for a decade or so now. Phone bought and activated in an ATT store, and last phone I had was an iPhone, so whatever data plan that used was what I was previously using. I would assume they changed the plan to reflect the android device (if there is any difference), but I wouldn't really know because it is on our family account.
Anybody got any clue? This is really annoying the **** out of me. Also found out my brothers phone (on same family plan) is doing the same thing.

Maybe download Tweakker from the market; it automatically rewrites APN settings for your phone and carrier. CM7 uses wap.cingular, and I used Tweakker to change it from that. Worked, no probs, loved me long time, yada yada.
Thanks, just downloaded it. We'll see if it makes any difference.
Worked great until just now. Lost internet again. Thanks though.
Any other ideas?
i am on AOKP, not sure if you have the options to do the following in stock but try.
1.do you have the option of deleting APN? delete all...
2. force the phone to look for wireless carriers (takes like 4 minutes).
3. click on At&t to registet on it.
4. reboot and the original apn should be there.
I reset it back to the original APN but I dont expect it to help... I had the problem even before I started messing with the APN. We'll see how it goes though.
Any other suggestions are still welcome.
I have a similar, if not the same problem. I have concluded that it's either a modem/hardware issue or network issue. Every one and a while, I'll have to wait ~20 seconds for the internet. This always happens on AT&T data. Once the connection is made, the green and orange data indicators light up and the page loads just fine. Changing the APN's increases my internet speed by a lot, but does not fix the latency issue.
Someday I'll get around to calling AT&T.

Sounds like the same issue to me.
I keep thinking I should go to the ATT store but I really dont feel like having them do a reset of my phone then send me home without actually fixing anything.
Have you noticed what kind of connection you have? I don't use stock, so I haven't thoroughly tested this there, but I believe I experience the same issue. I'm running CyanogenMod 7, and what I see is that whenever the phone drops to 3G, I don't get data. I can force 2G (Edge), which works, and if I pick up HSPA+, I get data. If I'm in fairly sketchy signal areas (bad parts of buildings, fairly far from towers, etc.), I'll notice it flip-flopping back and forth between 3G and H+, with no data. I've never had an issue with wifi not properly loading anything.
I did try switching back to stock for a couple of hours, and it appeared my issues were more along the lines of what you describe, without actually displaying a flip to 3G when I can't get data...but like I said, I don't use stock on a regular basis.
NINJA EDIT: I'm on my second phone with this issue, after getting a refurb due to a USB port going bad. I've tried flashing multiple modems, and have been able to increase my speed, but have not been able to fix the issue when I drop to 3G.

Im in an area where I constantly get 4G or LTE... I haven't really noticed a correlation between the drops and whether or not its on 4G/LTE. I haven't experienced it on Wifi in a very long time though.
Also, the stock APN seems to magnify the problems greatly. Switched back to the Tweakker APN and it runs much better (although it still happens occasionally)
Had the same issue as you, try my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576199 it seems to have helped many!

Thanks but the Tweakker APN seems to have solved the internet issues. Only problem now is that MMS doesn't work with the Tweakker APN. Anyone got any suggestions on that?
Hi,
I have been using Android GBX0*+3.4.26 rom for a long time. I haven't got too much big trouble except speed, app crash and battery. Nowadays i have a problem with my network.
Normally i have been using 3g connection. When my connection is down for some reason for seconds(subway or etc), my phone get no signal so people can not call me, text me. Also i can not call or text them. But everything seems normal, i mean it looks like getting signal.
Then i tried to fix it with airplane mode. When i click airplane mode, nothing happens. Everything looks like it is still roaming. When i restart phone, it opens in airplane mode. Also, airplane mode is not a solution for that, because everything seems normal, i dont know when my phone doesnt get signal.
I re-installed Android GBX0*+3.4.26 rom, still same error.
What should i do? Anyone has suggestions?
Thanks anyway,
Update
I realized that it is not about internet connection. I turned off data connection before sleeping. When i woke up, it was already not getting signal. Any ideas?

Hello.
I recently purchased an unlocked AT&T model V10 and am using it on Metro PCS.
The phone is having a hard time making and receiving calls. It will take a long time for an outbound call to begin (or will not even go through after a lengthy wait), and many calls are not being received and going straight to voicemail.
The problem and severity is intermittent, sometimes it will work without issue and other times no calls can be made or received for some time.
The data connection appears to be solid whenever it is being used, it just appears there is a problem with the phone trying to negotiate from a data connection to a GSM cellular connection.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as I have been searching around and have not had any luck. I've tried reseating the SIM, factory resets, etc.
Thank you.

I'm running the factory AT&T install, so no custom rom - I will try LG Bridge and see if there are any available updates.
Thanks for the tip, I haven't done much with LG phones before - I am certainly open to rooting the phone / trying a custom ROM to see if that will sort things out. It just seems like either a setting (I tried all different APN settings to no avail) or a software issue as it does work, just not consistently.

Thanks, I noticed that I was having trouble finding an update past H90021w online and the phone shows no update available (I was previously on H90020j).
So now Wi-Fi calling is an option, however it does not let me enable it, it just sits on "Processing" until eventually it gives me an error connecting with the network. I turned it on manually through the SVC menu and it shows it as enabled in the settings, but I don't think it is actually working as it doesn't give any indication as to whether or not it s on a Wi-Fi call.
Looks like I'm running out of options and may need to go with a different phone.
