[Q] need guide about Link2SD - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi , i have Sony V and in max have 700MB free internal memory
Rom : LOVINS X
Recovery : philz touch
There are 3 apps : Viber , line , WhatsApp that take a large space of my internal memory
WhatsApp/Media
Viber / Media /
Picture / line , Picture/LineMovie
it`s not affect that i movie these apps to SD card , all images , videos still will save to internal memory
So i search and find Link2SD
my Device is root , i create primary second Ex2 partition on my SD card
install link2sd and get the Ex2 partition as default to it
now when i choose viber , line , whatsapp and link them 2 SD
there are 4 options :
link application
link dalvik
link library
link internal Data
i enable 4 of them and ok , the success message appear
but when i check my internal , still all images and movies from these apps going to internal !!
whats the problem !!
another things that confused me is , i must create ext2 partition for link2SD right ?? ext2 in not readable in windows or file managers in android
So how can i move these files if link2SD work ?!

You want to move your data into SD card as well as you want to use link2sd right?
First of all
-You need to partitioned your SD card.
(One smaller than other)
(Keep both partitions as primary partition)
That means now you have two partitions into your SD card.
-Next, format the smaller partition with ext2 format where your apps can be linked.
-Format the remaining part with fat/NTFS file system. (This part can be read in android file manager as well as computer).
This is how you can move your data from internal to SD.
Hope this would be helpful for you.

thanks for replay
but it seems you not read my post currently
i do all these steps ( create small 1 GB primary Ex2 with mini partition tool )
on my SD card >> 14.5 GB fat32 partition + 1 GB ext2 (both primary and fat32 is first )
link2sd looks work fine but nothing move or change after link them to SD
still the temp folder of Viber , whatsapp , Viber is in Internal memory

help pls ,,,,,
I have no idea what the question is.
i guess he meant he want to move apps to his sd card ..
1.download link2sd from market
2.copy paste all your sd card files to your computer ( this will format your sd card )
3.reboot to cwm
4.go advance
5.go partition sd card
6.choose your size ( i choose 1024 mb dun go 256mb too little )
7.linux swap 0 mb
9.wait ( quite long about 5mins )
10.done
11.reboot
12.enter link2sd
13. pick ext 3.
14.reboot
15. you can now send apps to sd
The easy way to do it is format it with clockworkmod, it will create an EXT partition and a swap along with the standard FAT partition.
I preferred to use commandline parted and shell fu, but there is also gparted linux liveCD or windows tools like Easeus or Minitool.
Then use link2sd to "link" apps to use the ext partition. Your ROM may already have a2sd, in which case app2sd app is a GUI to control that, or for CM you can use S2E as well
-Download 'Forece2SD' .apk file
Note: This will only work if you are rooted
If you thought My comment was gelpful, Gimme a one-up!
@kabir: force2sd doesn't appear to handle or reformat an EXT partition. There are significant issues with running apks from the FAT sdcard partition (app break on boot, disappear when using usb storage, possibly lower performance due to all the virtual mountpoints), and I think link2sd is better than force2sd because of that.
Can you really use EXT partition of SD card as internal memory ??
he mean swap right? so the main selected memory would be sd card.
i have made a tutorial
go and read it
thx you eraser0
but ur ways is too many steps to follow and it is just linked , have any idea same with this ..? , just flash with CWM and the partition changed ...lol..
Example ~http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161557
I agree.
The only purpose of suggesting force2sd was its simplicity, and I can't think of a simpler way of freeing up space.
Also, the partition. basically, all we're doing is fooling system to believe that it has more memory than it actually does.

Link2Sd

Hi Guys!
I'm quite new like i said
and i saw a video on how to extend my internal memory by partitioning my sd card, but i'm not sure how to work Link2sd Properly
because when i download a app i go on link2sd it says on sd card but when i go to my actual internal memory theres changes towards it
so could you explain it to me
and explain what 'Create link' is
I also backed up my sd card before i did this and i put it back on but now i can't install the apps i used to have i.e tango & skype where can i delete the files of these on my sd card
by default apps are installed in the internal memory .
now you made a ext partition in your sd card
what link2sd does is it moves the application , data and dalvik cache from internal to your ext partition and creates a symbolic link in the internal memory
so when os searches the app in internal memory the link sends it to ext partition
the linking fools os which thinks that app is still on the internal memory ( due to the link ) but it is actually in ext partition
I hope this clears your doubt

Ohh no data files not moving , it still internal memory , iam using link2sd with root it moving (lib, app, cach) only ...
up up
open link2sd -> click an app u want to move-> click move to sd -> press OK
or you can back it up using titanium backup
note: dont move widgets on ur sd also system app
As said earlier, link2SD won't move the data folder of the application to the SD card.
The "Move to SD" action moves the .apk file to the SD card (in /mnt/asec), but leaves the data folder and the dalvik cache (the name_of_the_app.dex which is in /data/dalvik cache).
The best way to free internal memory with Link2SD is to move the application in internal storage, then to link the .apk, the dalvik cache and the libraries to the 2nd partition of the SD card.
Example : an application has a 3Mb apk file, a 1Mb dalvik cache file and an 5 Mb data folder including 3Mb libraries.
All in internal storage : 9 Mb
Action "Move to SD card" : 3 Mb on the SD card (the .apk file), but 6Mb remain in internal storage (dalvik cache and data folder)
Action "link to 2nd partition" with everything checked (apk file, dalvik cache and libraries) : 3 + 1 + 3 = 7 Mb on the 2nd partition of the SD Card, 2Mb only in internal storage (the data folder without libraries).
To answer the first question of the thread : I don't know if it's possible to move the entire data folder to the SD card. I never found a way to do, it may not be allowed by the Android system.
Thanx all

[Q] Secondary Partition help needed

hello seniors, i am seeking help regarding making use of secondary memory partition... followed by a tutorial, i made 4-4 GB 2 partitions of my 8GB memory card in order to create extra internal memory, which was 1.77GB by default...
I have rooted my phone and also have installed Link2SD app... But the problem arises is that the app directly link any app installed to my SD card which is now cut down to 4GB instead of 8GB... but the secondary partition is almost empty and unused...
In app settings, if i choose link files to internal memory then my 1.77GB memory is consumed instead of the secondary partition...
so my question is how come i make use of that extra partition that i created??
in phone settings also there are options of writing new apps in either phone memory or external card... how can i access the secondary partition

[Q] Make SdExt as main storage

Hello ,
I have a MTK device, and the storage is like that :
- ROM storage ( 515 Mb )
- Internal storage ( 825 Mb )
- SD interne storage ( 2.37 Gb )
- SD Externe storage ( it's my own sd card, my 8Gb insered sd card )
As you can see, there is a " internal sd card " that i can't remove at all ( it's like a 2nd internal storage )
But i have a lot of apps and sometimes this apps have a huge data ( like a couple of game or my GPS app )
So my problem is that when i move my applications to the SDcard, they go into the internal sdcard, but i would like to move them to the external sd card.
Maybe i nead to change a script or a system file to corrige that ? Or maybe a app is make for this ?
Please help me :cyclops:
You'd need to do something along these lines: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2346389 though definitely want to either know how to restore your stock rom or have a custom recovery with a nandroid backup. Your vold.fstab file will most certainly be different, but the basic principles are the same. If you don't have root and/or recovery or have the stock files and understand how to use the SP Flash Tool, then you should not proceed because it's very easy to brick your device or at least make it unusable. Case in point: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2718754 Another option MIGHT be this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.codlab.int2ext but not sure if it supports your platform, and same warnings apply - you should know how to backup and restore your phone before you proceed.
I have tried the Internal 2 external app but i had some problems with it
BUT i have founds a very very easy solution ! I have only edited 2 lines in a file who is in the " system " folder ( i have a nand backup + a recovery backup so no problem ), and now, my external SD card are recognized as the internal SD card and the internal as the external SD card
And since yesterday i have no problem at all, and i have booted a couple of times my tablett.
It's the solution presented here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2346389
