[Q] Cyanogemod 12 kernel configuration? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to build cyanogen mod 12 with this kernel sourcehttps://github.com/SandPox/android_kernel_kylepro?files=1
For samsung duos 2.
I builded cm 12 for android one with kk kernel source.
After building the kk kernel turned into lolipop kernel.
But in duos 2 after building the kk kernel remains for kitkat.
Now the question is how to configure or patch the kernel so that I can boot lolipop(cyanogen12).

[Q] How build the custom kernel in CyanogenMod

HI all,
I'm building a custom kernel that enable V4L2 (usb camera) in Galaxy S2, based on CM ROM follow this oldwiki. cyanogenmod. org/wiki/Building_Kernel_from_source
But I always get error when compile kernel (syntax + missing library...)
Are there anyone has experiment in building custom kernel from CM? or anything ROM that be able to support V4L2?

[Q] Dorimanxs Android KK Kernel

Ok so i have a lg g2 rooted using CM 11 Nightly (6/16/14 nightly) and i was wondering if the kernel Dorimanxs KK Kernel would work for that CM and the kernel is version 4.8.1 because that kernel version supports knock code since cm also supports knock code. So my question is just if that CM 11 would work for that Kernel.
Edit: Never Mind flashed the kernel and works fine

[REQUEST]Custom Kernel for CM 12.1

Any devs having an L7 II, can you please build a custom kernel for p710/5 supporting CM 12.1 .
Or modify airidosas's jellykernel to support Lollipop 5..1
Custom kernel for cm12.1 will improve its performance, I think.
Feel free to reply.

Kernel source modification for different android versions

I have the kernel source for JellyBean 4.2.2 that boots cyanogenmod 10 and other jellybean ROMS. But when I use that kernel for Kitkat like Cyanogenmod 11 that doesn't work.
To make sure the problem is in the kernel I packed the cm11 boot.img with the jellybean kernel and it didn't boot.
So my question is what modifications does the source need for a newer android version ?
I posted it many times found no answer .

How do i adapt an old device tree for a new android version?

Hi,
Im new to building roms
Trying to build for my phone j7maxlte SM-G615F
However, the device trees, kernel, and vendor trees all are for lineageos 14.1
I want to compile it for 19.1
What changes do i have to make to the tree to make it compile?
if you don't have sources for kernel 4.14 you can't compile kernel 4.14 it's that simple isn't it?
so i can't build 19.1?
i gotta make a new kernel?
you can build newer LineageOS on low kernel, not sure how it works. the oldest device I use is Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (stock ROM Android 4.4. Kitkat) the developer @html6405 has built LineageOS 20.0 (Android 13) on old kernel maybe he can help out
