Edit: This was done on a Venue 8 7840.
As mentioned, I ran the OTA like an idiot forgetting I was still rooted and of course, bootloop. I am stuck on the Intel Inside screen, with the developer flash tool it will show the device is connected but it comes and goes so I am not sure what I can do, if anything, to revert to stock or do anything. Does anybody have any suggestions or am I SOL? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :crying:
Try using the Phone Flash Tool utility provided in the developer edition files, and follow the process used to flash the developer edition firmware, but instead flash this unbrick.zip:
https://mega.co.nz/#!Vgw1CTYT!y1_tSTCMmzrhJSQy0lxwY59iyRhdJovC-IDMF25PB4k
Let me know how that goes for you.
EDIT:
For the flashing process, try with the tablet completely off and disconnected, then load the unbrick.zip file in Phone Flash Tool, then click the "Start to flash" button (the one near the bottom should be blue/clickable), then once it starts counting (attempt #0, attempt #1, etc.) then plug in the USB to the tablet. It should then flash the firmware pieces.

Thank you very much for the reply! I'm going to give it a shot now will report back shortly
First off, thank you for the reply, I flashed the unbrick.zip and it flashed successfully. Now the device is just showing a USB symbol with a filled progress bar under it and does not do anything else, still not able to get into bootloader or anything. Any ideas?

I thought I'd move over to this thread to keep it all together.
If I let the tablet boot normally, I get the following output: http://pastebin.com/zfsPRdC5 and the flash fails.
If I boot the tablet with power + volup, the flash is successful and I get http://pastebin.com/kQg8vwLC but I'm still on the USB screen.
If I flash the Dell Opensource IFWI + DNX (booted with power+volup) from the opensource package, it goes back to bootlooping with the intel logo.
Quick update, I don't have any further things to try at the moment, but I see that for past tablets Dell has released droidboot OS image which lets you recover a bricked device, so I've emailed support to see if they'll release it for this one. I'll post back once I hear something.

Thank you for all your help, I am not very familiar with Dell tablet devices so getting started was fine, rooted and all. Thank I had to go and flash the update without removing SuperSU like an idiot, LOL. Usually on any device I do this just in case, even if it *says* it's not necessary. Anyways, I look forward to hearing what they have to say, I figured I was stuck with a dead tablet, which I suppose could still be the case. Of course, still getting the USB logo when I try power. Thanks again @xBIGREDDx you're the man. :silly:

Any word back from Dell support? Or is it looking like this is a lost cause and I should just trash this thing I tried to get a hold of them myself but it is damn near impossible.

If all else fails just request and RMA and send it in for a replacement. I've always had great support from them on their business side. We usually get their accidental damage coverage on our work machines that replaces them for any reason. I have my 7840 through our work account and I have also rooted it but I have no doubt that I could send it back to them for a replacement if I brick it.
any new infos?
Hy ,
Are there any new infos about this problem?
I have the same problem with stuck at the usb logo.
No fastboot, no adb. I flashed many ifwi, dnx combinations but i get black screen or usb logo.
If you could repair your device, i would like no know please.
thx
i don't think my experience helps but i will post it anyway. When i turned on my tablet on today, it somehow started the upgrading process by itself when i try to open the play store. I thought i would brick the device since i rooted my tablet already, but i somehow made it. I lost root, but i was able to keep my data intact.
UPDATE:
Dell has posted a "blankphone" zip on their open source site. This will re-format your device and it does not contain a system image, but it should re-configure your partitions and flash a functioning fastboot image. There has been one report of this somehow fully fixing a system (I suspect the OTA was still sitting in a cache somewhere). Also based on the filenames in the zip, I think this might contain unlocked firmware. Either way, if we can get a system.img into a flashable state, you should be good to go.
Also they finally renamed the folder to "Moorefield" instead of "Merrifield"
"IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015" will cure the bootloop?
i flashed xposed to my 7840 lollipop and bootlooping.
i flashed it with "IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015".
u can find this in other device forum.
so, i flashed uninstaller of xposed, then 7840 is escaped from bootloop.
btw can anyone flash the appropriate xposed for 7840 lollipop with this tool?
hope 5.1.1 custom rom can be flashed...
Did Dell ever respond or has anyone else found a solution? I was ready to buy a 7840 but the apparent lack of support from Dell and minimal third party development has me seriously considering an Nvidia Shield, despite its inferior display and design. They're the same price and appear to be pretty evenly matched in all respects except 3D performance.
Any input that would help me with that decision would be appreciated.

However, on reboot after the QDL tool was complete I've frozen on swirling dell screen. Anyone hit this snag? Possible bad img? Currently running QDL tool 2.7.4.8; anyone had success on a previous version? I've ran the QDL tool more times than i care to admit. I apologize if this has already been addressed but I've read so many threads on so many boards I need to walk away from the computer for a while.
I have also tried a factory reset (via volume key boot and and clockworkmod) neither of which worked (another problem for another thread). Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

My first thought is a bad download of QDL Tool.. I would delete the version and folder you have, re-download and attempt once again. Make sure you leave the battery out of your streak one min. prior to plugging it into the computer. Then once it it recognized by QDL, run, once finished unplug the phone and allow it to reboot. If still no go, please let me/us know. Good Luck

Thanks for the response. Gave it a shot and still frozen. A quick question, for any programmer who knows this system, what is it trying to load at the spinning dell screen? Is it loading the boot.img? I thought about trying to just flash that via fastboot after running the QDL tool. Bad idea? Second question, anyone know where to find an older version of the QDL tool? Basic forum and web searches have lead me nowhere.
Last question, if for some reason the streak is fubar, would returning this to best buy with some jacked up version of 2.2 and clockworkmod on the phone void its warranty?
I really appreciate any response. Cheers.
try a factory reset in the 1st menu in recovery (don't go in clockwork). The factory reset within clockwork is broken - doen't work correctly. This will hopefully fix it.

That was my first reaction. I tried the factory reset via volume key reboot. it flashes to the white screen stating the factory reset but it reboots to the frozen loop... i think shes s.o.l... I believe something has to be corrupt. Its an odd issue. Is there a way to factory reset via fastboot?
Thanks again
i'd go to webchat.freenode.net channel: #dellstreak to see if you can snag a copy of the lower level version of the QDLTool. If fixes corrupt firmware, which you may have if the factory reset is giving you issues. Just explain your issue and someone is usually in there and can help.
a while back (about 3 weeks) i bought me a galaxy player us version 4.0. great player.
love it honestly.
but of course i wasnt satisfied.
so i rooted.
that was two weeks ago.
and tonight. i found myself trying to flash a custom kernel. called
"steves kernel" or something like that. and to my surprise using odin, it worked. rebooted. looked around. and the only thing different was the boot logo. booted to home screen. and worked naturally. wanted to boot into te CWM recovery that came with the custom rom to backup. "obviously was too late". and i backed up and rebooted. and of course. it was stuck in a bootloop. witht he fireworks looking thing. i looked for hours on end. for a stock rom of the 4.0 US version. i found what claimed to be 4.0 but either didnt match the md5 or were intl versions or WTF EVER.
(pretty damn steamed over here)
i unplugged my galaxy from my computer. and it instantly shut off. and now what seems to be a (from my experience with a psp; correct me otherwise) in a full brick. because it wont power on. it wont flash. it wont be recognized in windows. or any OS for that matter. nothing. tried battery pulll. nothing. someone.
please.
anyone.
help.
(also think i could get my money back from bestbuy if all else fails??)
When posting things like this, post EXACT links to what you actually flashed.
Flashing something without bootloaders in Odin shouldn't have done this.
try this - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386669
the unbrickable recovery should be able to get your device back into download mode. when I bricked my player to the point that it wouldn't turn on it was able to save it.
I think it works under windows, download the unbrickable resurrector and the
Samsung bootloaders from the link. you need to have Java runtime installed for it to work too.
open the unbrickable resurrector ".jar" file, and select "galxay player" from the dropdown in the bottom left. plug your player in ane above the text box it should say "device detected." or something to that effect.
now hold the "volume down" button on your player and hit the download mode button in the program. keep holding the download mode button until your device comes on in download mode. if after 5-10 seconds the screen is still black, unplug your player, restart the program and try it again. it took me 4-5 tries sometimes but it always managed to bring it back.
when you do get it into download mode, fire up Odin and flash the player bootloader from the "galaxyplayer-bootloader.zip". make sure to check the flash bootloader box on the left side or Odin. if just the bootloader was screwed up, your device might boot now.. if it gets stuck at the Samsung logo you need to put it back in download mode (power + volume down) and reflash a good rom or recovery rom (not just a kernel). if it doesn't want to go back into download mode you can use the unbrickable process again.
good luck.
i am going to try this method. do you think it will help with my 4.0 though? the tut is for the 5.0.....

Yeah I just did too :/ I installed chainfire 3D and now it stays at the Verizon loading screen. It doesn't shut off, only reboots to this screen. Safe mode doesn't work. I'm hoping there is a way to fastboot, factory restore, etc. via USB. But I think I'm SOL

Really hoping someone has came out with a unbrick/really BootLoop of Doom...
So I know a little about android and learn quick and there is very little information on the verizon ellipsis 7. Just so happens I bought one from a side shop and figured out Framaroot will easily root this device. Well you can guess what happen from there. All was going well until i rebooted with rom toolbox pro to change the font format for the second time. Now ever since it hasn't made it past the verizon screen and i cant take it back. Is there any possible way at all of somehow getting a custom recovery on this thing? Or even better a unbrick/bootloop? Oh and I CAN get it to go into stock recovery. Tried the Clear eMMC and Safe Mode but no luck.
Im in the same situation, I'm not able to boot into safe mode and clearing the emmc (formatting /data) doesn't seem to help either. I believe /data is just the user saved data, system data remains the same and is still corrupted. I had rooted, installed xposed framework and a few modules, rebooted fine the first time, but when I went to go change a setting within Ultimate Dynamic Navbar to make the stock navbar hide or not to hide, the script it used killed the tablet and now my wife's valentines day present is stuck in a bootloop. I'm going to try and take it back to verizon tomorrow after work, hopefully I can get yet another free tablet from big red... rvajuggalo said he was able to get it replaced right away even though it was rooted, anyone think I'll be fine taking it back as well? Or should I just wait til someone comes out with a fix for this issue?

If you're willing to open the back plate. (Back plate just pulls off. I'd suggest opening the sim/sd card slot and using that to pull it off. You need to disconnect the battery wait a few seconds, reconnect and then boot into recovery.
1. Black plate removal
2. Disconnect battery
3. Wait a few seconds
4. Reconnect battery
5. Press and hold Power and Down volume button until you see "Powered by Android"
6. Release the power button continue to hold down volume
7. Once in Factory recovery mode choose your best option
(I just factory reset it)

After making edits in system files I broke my QMV7B. Hangs on powered by android logo. In a panic, I wiped emmc from factory more (Chinese).. This reset ADB keys, and complicated matters further. After some digging I may have caught a break... I have figured out a way to stop and suspend the tablet in it's pre boot, or preloader, state. While suspended, it maintains COM3 connection with SPFT, and does not power cycle on and off. It also successfully installs it's onboard Preloader driver without error. Problem is that I need help attempting flash (for best chances)...
needing stock 4.4.4 fit the qmv7, or possibly advice on stock recover if possible.. I have successfully flased devices with Odin before, and have rooted almost every I have had.. I just want the best chance for success, and not to full brick the tab.. this could also be a solution for newer devices as well, but would like to for a good developer to speak with me before I post my findings. I will also post if I get the stock room compatible for flashing with SP Flash tool.. thanks guys..
Help
Please post specifics on how you achieved suspending in Preloader mode. That would help me alot.
I really need the un-rooted qmv7a stock rom, if any one could provide, that would be fan-freaking-tabulous lol...
no, for real i need the stock rom. I'd really appreciate it.

Hey man it's been 5years & I just wanna say thank you for posting this as I just managed to get into factory mode thanks to your comment xD. factory mode didn't help me a bit but maybe when I get to a PC I can use mtk tools to get a shell or something from there. Thanks again and if anybody has anything more than what's on here about this tablet please contact me as I feel like the last human on Earth with one ????
Yeh
I have one??
And Reading all topics about rooting this tablet...i'm afraid to do that?
Of anybody could help me that would be absolutely fantastic. I was half asleep in a thread on trying to get a custom recovery for my Verizon Ellipsis 7 (quanta qmv7a) and I found a recovery.img and it was noted that it was a test. I'm just curious of anyone knows how to fix my brick because the recovery won't load and I'm now stuck in a boot loop, the "welcome" screen comes up and goes away and comes up again repeatedly. Is there a way I can adb flash this tablets stock recovery? I still have the original recovery.img I just need to figure out how to flash it when its boot looped due to a wrong recovery.img flash. Help is greatest appriciated! Thank you!
bump
-The complete lack of responses could mean that we're screwed... (or we've asked a dumb question).Today, I too was a little too eager with the Enter button without triple-checking if the version of the recovery would be compatible with my current ROM -- it obviously wasn't -- Ellipsis_boot_patched_140902-025705.img over the top of 4.4.2 -- should have done more homework
Google's bots have hit this thread -- I hope we can help others who find this thread in our predicament and give solutions -- not just be a dead-end as it is now.
It's only been 4 hours since I've been working on it... it had an unlocked bootloader so there is hope.
I can tell what _doesn't_ work straight away:
1. Pulling the battery cable -- the back cover comes off easy -- insert a credit card starting at the SIM/SD slots and work your way around the cover and then gently pull the battery harness from the battery terminal assembly -- At least I don't have to see WELCOME taunting me by flashing every few minutes.
2. Combinations of button pressing -- I tried all the dead-Andi tricks...
3. Adb and RSD-lite aren't being acknowledged.
For just a few seconds before re-cycling -- Windows DOES recognize the phone (via USB) -- enough time to (indirectly) put a batch file in the bootloader?
-- or the answer could come from a combination of all the above.
After months of tweaking, I had just gotten the 16G SD card to be stable and (fairly) transparent as the main-APP drive -- Thanks mostly in part to Vicky's recent overhauling of her app: Apps2D -- I don't want to abandon all those hours without giving it one last concerted effort.
I am also willing to give playing with the physical ROM a try (-- I pray it's not embedded in the Soc). I remembered all the fun I had with JTAGs all those years ago when I was messing with DSS systems.
The tablet was a grateful gift to me but would not be one I would have ever purchased... The Ellipsis 7 was one of the first "cheap" tablets on the market... it shows. I would never use it professionally -- but wouldn't hesitate to use it as a backup or taken out camping...
I'm giving this a 30% chance of success.... well, i'm in the market for a new tablet... maybe one of those new Win8/Marshmallow dual-booters made-in-China?
You say you have the original recovery.img could you send me that please?

Thank you!

Is there a chance that you have the entire ROM? I tried to root and ended up bricking the device
Hi hello
So here’s a head scratcher I hope someone can help me with that won’t involve replacing my main board.
Got myself the p20 lite (ANE-LX1 C432) - Single Sim.
I unlocked the bootloader with Huawei just before they stopped handing out the codes. All was good and happy with the world.
Rooted with Magisk and Was busy messing around With Termux, Linux deploy, Mobile Terminal and some pretty basic stuff. I’ve been out of the android scene for a while so was getting reacquainted with the scene.
Anyway. I was messing around in the terminal in a root shell just fixing basic permissions after messing up my termux environment as root. Phone randomly rebooted (I must’ve messed with the wrong folder -no idea which) came back on and my IMEI and baseband were gone.
No worries, I thought. Happened tonnes of times with my previous Devices (looking at you Samsung) just a quick restore or flash and all will be happy again.
Yeah, not quite.
Note that up until this point I hadn’t touched the system partition (probably besides the mobile terminal mishap -no idea)
So over the last week or so I have tried everything. Restore from Twrp backup. Flashed stock through fastboot, through erecovery. Those flashed ok but didn’t fix it.
Putting numerous different update.app FULL & OTA updates in dload folder on SD and internal all failed. Only used my builds version of course and only ones firmware finder deemed compatible/available
Then I got desperate (read: stupid) Decided to take the unpacked firmware files and flash whichever ones twrp would let me. First tried just the modem files. Didn’t help. Then just went through the list and flashed all I could.
I think the kicker came in when I installed the Trustfirmware.img because once I did that I rebooted and now I was stuck in an endless boot loop. No way to get into recovery. Not with their ton combo nor adb/fastboot.
I still had access to fastboot at this point at least and started doing every single thing suggested all over the net just trying to get back to stock.
Tried the unbrick option on The Huawei Multi-Tool. Flashed ok. Phone still wouldn’t boot. Did it a few times with 3 approved versions. Nothing. Only access to fastboot otherwise I was in a boot loop with error mode error no 15 and the verification failure (Attached below)
Last thing I tried after reading online was to relock my boot loader and flash stock. So I locked it with Huawei Multi-Tool. Reboot......
Now I don’t even have access to fastboot. My PC’s (windows and Linux) don’t even acknowledge it and holding volume down in all the weird and wonderful ways and times does nothing. All I get is startup Huawei Logo, Error Mode as per pic Below and then reboot. That’s it.
I’m assuming it’s trying to do a factory reset after relocking the bootloader (if it even locked properly, can’t check) but it can’t get into recovery/erecovery. I dunno ?
That’s my essay of where I’m at. Warranty is already void so not an option and I don’t want to buy a new mainboard (may as well buy a new phone).
So here I am. Is this my life now or does anyone have any magic tricks to possibly suggest?

Thanks for this.
The battery discharged fully about two days ago.
I haven’t tried plugging it in and out as/if it turns on immediately (though even though it shows dead without charger it still comes on immediately).
I’m gonna get a weaker lower amp charger and see if that maybe helps. Fml ?
***UPDATE***
Been at it for hours. Battery is completely flat. But h second I plug it in the the Black Huawei logo comes up ten a few seconds later it’s on the same error screen for a little longer then boot loops like that constantly.
The error isn’t the same as the post in that link though. And I am FRP unlocked.
Eh.

I guess your previous error was related to ramdisk...
Now what is your current situation?
-What error is showed in the Error mode?
-Can you reach FASTBOOT&RESCUE MODE menu?
-What is your current recovery?

As it stands I cannot enter fastboot or recovery mode. Update from SD also doesn’t do anything. Battery is completely discharged. And if I leave it on the charger it doesn’t charge, only boot loops.
So with all that the ONLY thing this phone does now is:
- Starts up Showing Huawei logo
- Error Mode Screen with Func No: 15 (bl31 image) & Error No: 1 (security verify failed)
- Reboots
Ths happens whether it’s plugged into the pc’s usb or the charger. Tried all combinations of buttons too.
It has stock recovery as I flashed that back when trying to revert back to stock.
I lost access to fastboot after I locked the bootlaoder again using the Huawei Multi Tool. It’s like it trying to do the factory wipe that it usually would after locking/unlocking the bootloader but is unable to due to the error mode screen.

I see, it is really bad
My last hope is to be able to do a forced Firmware upgrade. Press power button and VOL + and VOL- simultaneously. Do you see the same as the attached image?

Ah man, I wish it would even do that. It makes no attempt to even pretend to see the sd card update. If I hold all the buttons in it still only comes up with the error mode and reboots.
I popped it open and connected a charger up battery to see if that would help but it doesn’t.
Do you maybe know the pin layout on the inside or know where I could get schematics? Been looking everywhere.
I’m almost done building my own Jtag box and am hoping to bring it back to life by writing straight to the damn thing.

That is sad!!!
With JTAG and schematics stuff I cannot help you.
What I found recently and it was new for me (I didn't tested yet) is a possibility to install firmware via "dload" folder, but to start installation the stock recovery have to be full functional.
If I found something interesting for you I'll post here.

To my knowledge the recovery is installed. Well erecovery. It was working up until I locked the bootloader again and it went into a boot loop instead of doing the factory reset.
Is there any other way to force sd update other than with the dload folder?
Thanks for tying to help, I appreciate it.

You can check the official documentation about that.
Please let us know how you solved this problem.

Still unsolved as of yet.
I’ve finished building my own version of the Riff/Octoplus box as well as a makeshift Jtag. I’m still trying to find and piece together some firmware files and other board software I think I need.
Also, if anyone has any idea where the test point is on this board I’d really appreciate you pointing it out. I cannot find the schematics or any solid documentation anywhere.
I will attach the pics I have of both sides of the board as soon as I get home.

well, try to restore your device using dload method. It needs you to copy the UPDATE.APP in dload folder of an external sd card(formated in NTFS format) and then just press both vol up+down along with power button for a few seconds. It will auto launch huawei e-recovery and will try to flash the UPDATE.APP you stored in ext sd card. This should definitely work.
Dload method doesn't need you to unlock your device or bootloader.
Maybe?
I know it’s a long shot but I still have this phone. If anyone maybe knows if there’s been a way to fix this as of yet please let me know. ?
Lol. Still got this damn thing. Been searching around and seen a few people reporting similar errors. Never find out if they ever solve it though.
So. Anyone maybe have any knowledge to share? Anything at all.
I don't know if you still have your device, but I had the exact same issue with a P10 (VTR-L09)
I was able to fix fastboot using https://github.com/mashed-potatoes/PotatoNV
That tool was designed to unlock the bootloader, but I noticed that It actually flashes a slightly modified version of fastboot.
PotatoNV can also unlock P20 lite bootloader, so you should give it a shot.
Good luck!
If it works, you should be able to flash stock recovery image and then restore the system using the dload folder.
you can Repair it with Software Testpoint and Full Bootloader Unlock ,and then flash a Board Software via Software Testpoint, that helps 100%!!!
use this Firmware Download ANE-LX1
use the Software with logins and you have all what you need.
you must start the Software Testpoint so!!
VIDEO : how to start Software Testpoint P20 Lite
than in Software Testpoint you flash the included Board Software with DC-Phoenix and after that use the included dload update via sdcard and eRecovery mode and your Phone is running!!!
I would unlock the bootloader via Software Testpoint with DC-Phoenix, then the FBLock is unlocked and you can flash as you wish!!!! And the great thing about it is that you don't need an UnlockKey either, you can then read this with HCU client software, the only thing that's stupid is that you need a time-based license for the two programs, which you have to buy.
HCU client download
https://hcu-client.com
DC Phoenix download
https://forum.dc-unlocker.com/forum/modems-and-phones/huawei/155916-dc-phoenix
Since I accidentally bought a 3-day license twice and my P20 Lite is now completely rooted on Lineage 19.1, I can give away 2 access data, which are still valid for 2 days.
you can edit your smartphone with it.
