[Q] Photos for contacts - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to automatically get photos for my contacts? From Facebook or Whatsapp.
Seems like modified versions of Android from other manufacturers have it but our stock one doesn't allow it.

Anyone?

I think, in fb app itself there is an option to sync contacts.
Other than that, without additional apps, u can't sync social network photos to your contacts
You use that sync me app to get photos for your contacts, after that delete that app.

Haha I have to agree with you.
If it doesn't auto sync, click edit your contact, then menu-> join. Find your contact in the list that matches and save. Sometimes if the name you have doesn't match a facebook name, edit the name, join, then re-edit the name.

There is already another thread on this. Do a search.

I did that and it sync some but not all. On other phones, they ones it didn't sync I can manual sync them by clicking on their name....can I do that here?
Go to contacts and click the menu button then display options. It should say only show contacts with phone numbers at the top. See if that's selected. That might limit whos being synced.

If nothing else works, try downloading friendcaster from the market and sync them through the app. After flashing certain roms, FB doesn't play nice with my contacts and friendcaster is the only way I can get them to sync

Friendcaster is your only option from I believe pre 8.1 Eclipse. 8.1 on up FB should sync with AOSP.

Does it sync your FB contacts to the phone?
I use this app as well, as a replacement to the official FB app, but I can't sync with it, or even add it as a sync account in the Settings...
You dont need an app for that. You need to add the contact as a google contact and then join the google contact with the matching facebook contact. Then the pics should sync.

That is a great way!!! If only the Facebook contacts could be synced to the phone properly with ICS.... mmmmmm, maybe I'll open a post that will tell me how to sync the FB contacts to the phone, so I could join them with my google contacts...!

C'mon really. I was a being a good sport and went along with Moonshield's and CaelanT's joke. Anything further is just being immature. I'd expect better from a "Senior Member".
Uninstall and reinstall
I had the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the facebook app, and leave it on charging with wifi connected (As per my settings) overnight, and everything was in by the morning.
My FB contacts sync aok using FriendCaster on CM9 [ADT's SelfKANGish build 8]. Receive status updates, notifications, etc, also no problem.
Really, guys?

[Q] Delete all synced e-mail contacts (Gmail, Yahoo, FB..) from Android..?

Hello,
How to FULLY delete (only from Mobile) those 1000s of email contacts which were synced earlier in my S2 (JB 4.1.2 Neatrom) from Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.
I have totally disabled automatic 'Sync' on all accounts added, and I only need to manually sync for new emails only. I can manage to 'display' contacts with a number only, but when I run a 'search' it brings up all email contacts again ffrom the db.
I simply don't want any email contacts but phone contacts in my phone.
Tried couple of tools which helped purge duplicates, but not email contacts itself.

Is it a option to delete your account and add them again but only select "Sync Email"?
Clear data for your contacts app and the contacts storage from Application Manager.

Anything that is stored on your phones contact database will go, and Sim contacts which are stored on the sim card you will have to manually clean. Anything and everything else should go.

Couldn't you just backup whatever you need using some app and restore back into a cleaned database, I have done it before myself.

Wondershare Mobilego for PC was the key tool to manage Android contacts from PC, where I had option to pick e-email contacts and purge them!

Yes I could, but you should really consider this 'whatever I need take a backup and restore only what I need', because excluding 3000+ email contacts from the required 500 contacts in a mixed contacts pool is HARD JOB...I had'nt find any tool to isolate them, all threads recommend 'SELECT' only what u need and export....do you find it easy to select one after one among the junk/needed contacts...NOooooooooo :cyclops:
Anyway I fixed it :good:
