So whenever I put my sd card into my Xperia z3tc I can't open any apps apart from a few like settings and it often freezes and no buttons work, and if I boot with it in my tablet has a black screen with notification center usable and only a back button. FYI I'm using the SGP12 which is the 32gb WiFi model, no root and it only started happening since I updated to 5.0.2. PLEASE HELP
Perhaps the SD Card is bad?
I experience a similar issue (on KitKat) and it has to do with the media scanner (I have many MP3s on my SD card). Basically, before I reboot my device, I need to use a root app to delete my media library. If I do not do so, upon reboot, the phone is slow, nothing media-related works (including ringers and alert tones), and opening media-using apps or setting menus freezes the device (until I delete my media library, which gets reformulated next reboot). I tend to assume that maybe your SD card is triggering a media-rescan and that is causing your issue. Don't know if this is Android or Z3TC specific, but yes it is annoying.

The sd card should be fine it's a SanDisk and it only has a few pics on, this happened immediately after I updated to lollipop and then stopped and now it's happening again.

Images are still media. Try using the SD card without any images saved to it. Or try deleting your media library - to rule this out if nothing else. I use an app called Music Database Repair to delete my media library (although other features of the app don't seem to work).

Hey guys I rooted my Atrix about a month ago using gingerbreak and I finally got a new Bluetooth for it but when I try to turn on the Bluetooth on the phone it attempts to then dose nothing. I have tried restarting the phone and it didn't work. I don't know what else I can do besides factory restoring it, and if I can avoid that I would like to. Any ideas besides that?
Thanks,
Adam
No one has any ideas?
I have the same issue on two different phones. A soft reboot usually gets it working again, until I toggle it off. Then it won't turn on til next reboot.
I have the same exact problem.... tried a lot of things, but none succedd

I tried battery pulling it and that didn't work either sadly.
Okay, Maybe this info helps. I believe its has something to do with a specific program being moved to the SD Card or sd card mounting.
I just had this happen. Bluetooth would not turn on at all. I decided to play Chuzzle and when my battery went low, I plugged the phone into my comp USB port. It disconnected the SD card in lieu of mass storage. Killed my game because it resides on SD Card. At this point, I decided to test bluetooth and it worked!! Don't have time to test it further but. I suspect something residing on the SD card maybe the culprit. Unfortunately, I have over 30 things on it so segmenting out is going to be a pain.
Do you all have programs on the SD card?
Yeah, i moved 111 apps using apps 2 sd... cant tell which one is related to bluetooth...

I was having the same trouble and noticed that plugging in USB in storage mode would "fix" my bluetooth... I used Optimize Toolbox too clear all my cache and remove old SMS messages (after a backup) and bluetooth seems to be working again
*Edit* this didn't seem to last after I moved a few apps back to the SD card... I'm giong to keep messing with this...
after much pissing around with moving apps back and forth the internal SD card no longer mounts when i plug into my PC... interesting... I'll continue to report any progress I make
I've removed the physical SD Card and determined the problem lay in the internal SD Card...
ok after some seemingly "random" application moves from SD to phone I have this "working". I think it's a possibly corrupt internal SD but I haven't gotten any of the warnings that I see other people get where the phone explicitly says as much, however here is why I still suspect it:
as I was using Optimize Tool Box to move apps I noticed it was moving them rather slowly and taking a few extra seconds to re-load the app list, after one move (a Dolphin HD plugin full screen froyo incase that matters) I noticed the refresh seems snappier,
I went out to my home screen and hit a bluetooth widget and BT started working, I tried moving a couple different apps back and it stopped working.
Here is a full list of apps I moved OFF my SD in the event that it is still app related and a list of my apps might be handy to see who has common apps
Remote VNC Pro
My Tracks
Knots Guide
ConnectBot
Retro Defense
Best Apps
FBReader
Fullscreen for Froyo
Net Ping
AndFTP
Amazon Kindle
BlastMonkeys
KeePassDroid
Terminal Emulator
AndroZip
DailyComix
Dungeon Defenders
SilverEdit
Linux Commands
Handcent Emoji Plugin
Movie Free
My Backup Root
OSMonitor
Handcent SMS Skin(Metal)
SMS Backup+
Thinking Space
I hope this can help someone fix their phone or better yet get us a litter further towards an actual solution.
These are on my list. They should not be moved to SD:
Firefox
Brain Cube
Rugby
Anyway, the problem seems to be solved on 4.5.91. I've been moving apps all day and yet my bluetooth is still working.
Hello all, I had recently upgraded to a SanDisk Class 4 32GB microSD card and within a few days after I had merged all of my phone's data and my old sd's data, my pictures come up as broken files, and my music shows about 5-8 duplicates of each song but only a select few will play and the others will act like they're playing but no audio plays and the seconds of the song stays at zero. I even restart my phone with the sd out and the media scanner doesn't show that it's running, and I'm pretty sure it's not because when I go back to the music player I still see all of the songs that are on my sd and the pictures still show that they're broken...idk how the files still show in there without the sd card being in there, but I'm afraid I might have done something wrong when I had cut and pasted all of the files from the phone itself onto the sd. I have no real knowledge of android programming or rooting or anything like that so I figure it would help to mention my phone is stock but officially upgraded to 4.0.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and could possibly help more users out there!
I think you have to go to settings-apps-all tab-media storage- clear data. I think I remember right. Maybe try it without your card in. Replace SD card and turn on phone and I think it will scan correctly.
Or something like that. Hope it helps
Yeah I've tried all of the available functions from the phone and also mounting & unmounting it. I'm assuming from being a windows user that I might have transferred over some sort of "playlist" that remembers all of the file extensions for each file, and since they're not located in their original place it cant find the file...idk but it really takes a toll on my drive to work!
I am new to Samsung, coming from HTC Desire. And got into bizarre already )
A couple of days ago noticed a strange problem with photos in galery unreadable, appearing to be corrupt (all of them on external sd, internal sd photos are displayed properly). Then today happened that Music app couldn't play music files on external SD.
Read countless of similar issues on the internet, with lots of people blaming on the sd card. However, I found that it is not the case.
Put into a SD card reader and plug into PC, the files on SD card are all ok.
Put back card into phone and investigated further. First I thought maybe it's a problem with SD card reader in the phone. BUT! Noticed files are perfectly visible in ES File Explorer, and even display correctly when using Gallery App to open them from ES file explorer. But if Gallery is opened first, it cannot display files.
I'm sure somebody else happened the same, since the internet is full with such reports regarding Galaxy devices (even S1 and Note alike), but anyone identified the sorce of the problem and eventually solved it? I would be very much interested.

Try to run Rescan Media app from Play store.
Maybe your media scanner service does not work properly and needs to refresh the list of media files on your sd card.
Good luck !
rescan is done automatically every reboot. doesn't help. thanx anyway.
investigated further and found out that the files are not corrupt, but the libraries of Music app and Gallery app created duplicated empty files (in fact 2 fake entries in library for every valid file on the card). Duplicate files don't exist physically on SD card, only in libraries of the two applications.
Already tried formatting cache and dalvik cache, but to no avail...
ICS 4.0.4 Orange Romania (BVLPH) stock ROM.
Later EDIT: This was an easy one. Unmounted SD Card and open Gallery app and Music app. Then re-mount SD Card, both apps will refresh libraries, wait a while for media scan in the background and voila: duplicate files disappear, everything is in god order.
I had a similar problem where both gallery and music files were duplicated, but the duplicates were unreadable.
My solution was Settings -> Applications -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear Data.
This forced a refresh and everything turned normal again.
Slightly annoying that the media scan data is stored under a separate application and not within the data of the gallery or music player applications, but once I discovered this it was an easy fix.
A few days ago while I was on ICS 4.0 on my SGS3 (can't remember whether 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 - international stock ROM either way), I noticed that my phone was not displaying pictures correctly. For example, I took a picture with my camera and it automatically saved it to my SD card, after which it would say the picture cannot be opened. I then transferred my photos to the internal memory as I felt my SD card was getting corrupted, however the music on it still worked fine. Then I noticed a huge increase in battery usage, mostly consumed by the 'Media Storage' application (60-70%). I then updated my phone to JB 4.1.2, and my pictures would not show up at all (music was alright). After some research I found out that there could be a faulty Media Storage app, but it only mentioned the rooted ROM version for people wanting JB earlier than the release date. I did what the instructions I found told me and cleared the data on the Media Storage app (around 4 GB). This solved the problem momentarily but the data keeps going up and using the battery. Now I'm stuck with the Media Storage disabled since I need my battery, however it's annoying to hear a full ringtone for a simple notification, not to mention I want to listen to my music.
What I want to know is, is it a problem of a faulty SD card, corrupted (music) files, or a faulty Media Storage app?
I haven't tried removing the SD card and leaving it to see if it still consumes battery but I just formatted it and am looking to see what happens.
With the Media Storage off, there have been HUGE improvements on battery life! Wow.

You could try formatting your SD card, if this doesn't work it may be the case that your SD card has bad sectors.
If you want to know wether that is the case, you can try this:
Click Start and then Run. Type cmd and then click OK. Type the following:
chkdsk [sd card drive letter] /r
That will scan for bad sectors on the card and repair any found.
on the PC, that is
Device:
ZTE Grand X (Bell Version) - Model Z933
Android 4.3
Kernel 3.4.0+
No root, stock everything.
I recently bought this ZTE Z933, and I've had some photos, videos, and music stored on the phone's storage for a while, and it worked fine.
Just in the past couple weeks, I put more videos, photos, and music onto an SD Card (4GB, FAT32) and put it into the phone, and now very often (almost daily) all of my picture browsing apps and music playing apps suddenly (and temporarily) are not able to detect ANY media on both the SD card and my phone's storage. But, if I browse my media through ASTRO or any other file manager, all the files are there and they work perfectly fine.
Rebooting the phone does nothing to fix this issue, and neither does accessing the storage through USB or unmounting and mounting the SD Card. For a while, the only fix I found was sometimes if I opened up one of my photos through ASTRO, and then closed it, about half the time it would temporarily fix the issue.
After a bit of searching, I found some threads on different sites about restarting the Media Scanner service (or something along that line) in Settings > Apps. I do not have this, but instead what I do have under Apps > Running > Cached, I have something called "Media", which, when I stop it and restart the phone, fixes the issue temporarily, but it works every time. The annoying thing about this is having to reboot, and losing all my ringtone and notification tone settings, and my playlists every time this happens.
Can anyone give me info on things to try? Or does anyone know of an app that will get me around this issue? (the phone has been reset pretty recently so I don't think that would solve it)
Any help would be very appreciated!
Hey how's it going? I to picked up one of these nice little phones and have yet to find anything as far as development on it, i.e root or any roms and ZTEusa has nothing on this phone. Every time I google it it shows another phone.
Its a great phone large screen and has quad core, if enough people post a wanted new thread on the request a thread forum we can get some help. There is a boot loader its just can anyone get root threw it. Also someone needs to try all of the towel root modstrings which are a lot and you might get it rooted. I really enjoy mine have had no problems with media, might be your sdcard is it an old one or a new one what class is it class10?
http://www.xda-developers.com/users-beware-zte-root-backdoor-found/
I just picked up this phone too.
Seems like root acess is simply password controled..
Maybe ztex1609523?
Anyone wanna jam that into an installer?
