Hi. I noticed that my LG G2 captures really poor quality photos. Same thing was on KK and now on Lollipop. They seems to be blurry. Lens is perfectly clean. Did anyone had similar problem ? I attach few samples.

Doesn't really seem to be anything wrong, were your settings on night mode when you took these pictures, cause that softens the image and reduces sharpness a bit..
Yeah i also have blury photos on my G2 and i tried all the settings with no success . I am on stock kitkat
I don't get it - photos look OK. Can you post two photos - one taken with your G2 and same scene taken with some other camera?

Well, it's a Motorola -of course the camera is crap
But to be honest, the photos your Razr is taking are much worse than normal.
I assume that you have cleaned the lens and set the exposure time to automatic and that you hold the camera still while taking a photo. Furthermore you wait until the rectangle that shows the focus becomes green.
So it could be a hardware problem -maybe the lens does not fit correctly or it's another failure during assembling. In this case you should get a replacement.
It could also be a software problem, I'd try to download a free camera software from the market, place your phone on a rigid surface and shoot a photo. Does it look as blurry as the previous ones I guess you should get a replacement.
I attached two photos I made right now...colour reproduction isn't good with Moto cameras but sharpness should not be a problem.
I tried other camera apps (camera zoom fx, camera ultimate 360) and result is the same.
I read elsewhere that someone else DL'd the Camera Zoom FX app and it made a world of difference.
Just as what the title says, do you guys think these G5 camera shots are normal? Why?
To me they look mostly terrible, especially when zoomed in, the pics would go blurry and painting-like. Lots of grains in low lights. I hope this is normal though.
I'm wondering how this handset is even a flagship
camera shot samples are in the attachment

Really appreciate your confirmation. I just thought mine was defective and that I needed to get it replaced before the warranty is out. Mine is a G5 SE by the way.
Still, this selfie shot of my pal bugs me out, given plenty of light and the shot still looks like sht. I mean it doesn't look good enough to my taste, rather too cartoonish sigh../:
Photo's aren't meant to be zoomed into unless you take them manual RAW.
The selfie I would say the mouth moved causing the weirdness.
The photo's on the my G5 are excellent and manual is as good as you'll get outside of an SLR.
Reading the specs for the G5 SE, seems it's a different processor? Probably accounts for the shots coming out a bit blurry if the processor can't keep up. If the processor is cut down the the phone you have isn't a flagship
I would get an S6 or S7 if you're not happy, as the iphones cameras are pants.

Well, that sounds like bad news I wanted to love this phone. Anyways thanks for clearing it up for me
Video recording is tough for me as well. My brother took some amazing videos with iPhone SE compared to my blurry ones. As for the photos Simple & Auto are the worst. I'm guessing it has something to do with software. Try Manual, tinkering with the settings, and you'll notice the difference.
Here are some pics I took using Manual.

Wow superb shots you got there! So your G5 in simple & auto mode takes about as bad quality still pics as mine? like water color paintings?
G5 is bad in taking macro shots, on the contrary it's very good in panorama shots.

disable the face tune completely, you know, that slider at the bottom

G5 takes amazing shots, I use it for my instagram, it's fantastic!!!!
If you want very sharp shots, use manual mode, manual focus and shoot in DNG.
The wide angle lens loses lots of details in darker environment, but still so fun to use.

I dragged the slider at the bottom with a face image on both sides all the way to the left and wahlah the front camera take sharper and more detailed shots ever since. Thank you!!
So my G5 SE is normal isn't it? I don't need to RMA it right?

it's normal!! And you're welcome!
And remember taking selfies in bright condition makes photos sharper as the iso is not pumped up.

Anyone tried the ported HDR+ google camera on LG G5? If yes, how's the photo quality compared to stock?
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-ported/
I've been using the HDR app on my G5. Works well so far. A test shot of a convenience store after close gave opportunity for vibrant colors and bright lights against shadows. The normal camera on auto mode had entirely blown out whites at the cooler. G5 HDR gained some detail there and balance overall. Google HDR+ restored much more detail in the whites, truly dynamic range. It did tend to oversaturate but it was much more accurate to the naked eye than the normal camera actually. It also darkened the shadows a bit much but again that was more accurate visually and detail was still there to recover in post processing if desired.

Thanks for the detailed response! Looks like the app is worth trying out then!
Is the middle photo HDR+? That looks the best to me.
I tried taking some pics with it.... Dynamic range is phenomenal but the colors aren't as vibrant nor do they pop as they do on a pic taken from the stock camera app

That was stock camera HDR in middle. On a standalone picture aesthetic I'd agree due to brightness but do note the HDR+ seemed more accurate in context of a store with no overhead lights on after midnight. Stock made it look like I was open lol.
In low light there is so much less noise with G Cam compared to other apps. Also with direct opposing sunlight I prefer the G Cam. Rest is handled better by LG Cam IMO.
I agree that the colors are not as vibrant with G Cam though.

Great shots! :good:
The google camera is really awsome. We can take some good pictures compare to stock camera. Now I'm using google camera as my primary. :good:
A few months back I upgraded my phone from op2 to LG g5 H860.
So, I've been playing around with my phone and I noticed that my camera pictures are grainy. Seems like pictures taken on a 5mp (or lesser) camera.
I took pictures with my camera (all default settings and auto mode) without any zoom and after capturing I tried to zoom in into the picture, like 20% zoom to notice that they are very noisy. I'm not so good at photography, so I never bothered to check this kind of stuff with my other phones before.
I have taken pictures with both rear and front cameras and they both look very noisy. Like water color painted pictures. I'm not sure if I'm putting the right words here but I think you get what I am talking about. I am adding a sample attachment.
Can someone tell me if this is normal or am I missing something here or if there's some problem with my phone itself?
I am already frustrated that I can't unlock my bootloader and I hope this wouldn't add more to it.
Do you tried clear the lenses?

Yes I did. But that doesn't seem to be like a problem with dirty lenses?
Man, I had the same exact problem.. buy new lens.
Try manual mode and turn down the iso speed. Sometimes higher iso speeds produce heavy grain. See if that helps any.

I guess it's the only solution. Thanks.
I had this problem as well. I turned off HDR under settings and that fixed it.
Hi, I'm new at XDA so please be understanding. I've recently bought a used LG V30. Everything seems to be ok, but Snapchat photos quality... No comment. When I take a snap with my LG V30, photo looks like an image took by a 2013 budget smartphone. It's just unacceptable. My brother's Galaxy S8 takes a decent snaps, so what's the problem? Any solutions? It is unacceptable in a phone like this.

Don't take the pics through the Snapchat app. Take picture through camera and attach it with the app.
The camera itself takes great pictures. It's only when you try to make the camera take pictures through another app interface you have problems.
For Snapchat specifically, don't know about now, but it would basically take a screenshot of your screen instead of using your camera. The camera preview is low res, whereas the actual picture is takes is great. So if Snapchat is basically using your camera preview for a picture, it's going to look terrible. You have to attach an actual picture taken WITH the camera.
This was all discussed months ago in another thread.
