Hy guys,
I got a Samsung S2, and i tried some emulators like Mame4droid, FBA4droid, NeoDroid and the CPU keeps fluctuating between 1200 mhz and 800 mhz, which makes everything choppy and unplayable (the few seconds it stays at 1200 everything is perfectly smooth and then when it goes to 800 it's a slideshow, and then it all repeats). I rooted the phone and tried a couple of Cpu tools (Antutu, Tegrak) and i tried all governors i had in the tools and set both min and max CPU at 1200 but it still goes to 800. I use Cool Tool for monitoring. Is there any way to put the CPU in max (1200) mode?
Any ideeas?
Thanks a lot guys.

Have you tried installing a custom kernel or rom? What about using the performance governor? If you don't have this, install a custom kernel.
A better alternative is to use a custom kernel and set the up threshold to a lower number, that way the cpu frequencies will stop jumping.
Thank you for the reply. Can you recommend me a custom kernel that has the settings I need?
Thanks again!

What rom are you using? Are you using stock 4.1.2? If so, use apolo kernel 4.15b by pedestre and download the apolo configurator app to change the up threshold. A threshold of 50 or 60 should stop frequencies from jumping around. If you're using 4.4.4 rom, use dorimanx kernel and use stweaks to change up threshold.

Ok guys, so i installed Apolo with configurator and i tried a few options and values and nothing changed. The second the CPU gets to 65 C, it goes from 1200 mhz (where everything is smooth) to 800 mhz (where everything is slow). After 5 seconds it goes back to 1200 and then it gets to 65 C again and so on...
What are the exact values or options i should be using..? What i need is for those 65 C to become something like 75 or 80 (or disable that thing altogether) so i can be sure i'm smooth all the way.
Thank you guys. I feel like i am one step away from optimising my experience :fingers-crossed:

hey guys.
i have been wondering about this problem for a long time, and i could not find a solution to it. Thus, i wanted to ask you guys about it. The max i can overclock my phone to is 748. whenever i try to raise it to about 768 or 787, the phone will freeze and restart. is it due to the hardware limitations of my phone? or isit due to some software limitations?
Please help.
Just Hardware.

Hi. I'm still using Gingerbread stock rom 2.3.3 but with latest franco's kernel. My max. clock is 710Mhz. Anything above that, my phone will get freeze very often. Is there any recommendation on what should i set for my min. clock as well as the Governor?

I use stock 2.3.3 v20g + franco kernel and set max clock at 729Mhz, sometimes it freeze, but normally work fine (with any gov).
Each CPU is a little different. My OV is stable at 600 with smartassv2 but once I step it up to 729 the phone will randomly freeze or reboot.
Sometimes you get a good cpu that can be OCed a bit, and sometimes you get one that can go no further then stock. If you can OC then consider yourself lucky.
Whenever you try to increase the max frequency beyond a certain limit the CPU can not handle that and tells the kernel about that and kernel starts to Panic... (reboots or freeze)
For example My phone remains stable upto 768 MHz (usually i keep it at 748Mhz....)
but if i increase it to beyond 806 MHz it starts to panic...
Hardware
Has differences on hardware, already tried with 2 differents P500, one could overclock to 768 Mhz, the other can reach 800Mhz without freeze.

Since all the p500 have same hardware, they can be OC to same max frequency if they have same software config...
806! never freezes but she gets warm! can get over 40 celcius
EDIT
Mind you i only get about 16 hours of battery life LOL

where did u get ur facts?
are u smart or just effin noob?
yours preferred governors????
actually the best one is....
Dude keep it around 652 and interactive otherwise UR Battery will drain fast
depends on ur ROM+kernel combo.
on oxygen v1.1 i smoothly ran on 480-768 and battery lasted around 2 days with average use.
Now on Cm7 nightly, equally smooth at 729-480 and battery is awesome too..
Overclock
Ohhh!!! lucky guys.. my phone only accepts 672Mhz at max or anything above that value leads to rebooting or freezing.
Rom: Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0.3)[BETA4]
Kernal: Franco Kernal - 4
OC: 480/672 Max
I get 748MHz completely stable when pushing "performance" governor with franco #4.
But irrespective, this is not about bragging...one would see LITTLE real life difference (save for frying the CPU faster) going above 672MHz. Don't just look at synthetic benchmarks...feel your phone.
Oh...and it was mentioned multiple times that 600->806MHz uses the same voltage hence the same power consumption for Sidestep CPUs.
I am running max CPU @ 729 and it has been running smooth for days with no freeze/reboots, I also noticed having the Governer on Performance has helped my battery life and such, i havent noticed the phone getting any warmer whatsoever so no problems with heat, Also I am using a LG-P504 Optimus One which Ive heard is the final release for this phone, so maybe its more stable than the pervious versions.
My p500 can handle 768 max. With some kernels 787mhz. But i am running 245-710 with miui v4: lol:
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Yea mine can handle that too but it drains my battery faster I've noticed. So now I run Max @ around 720 which seems quite stable!! Only time I use the nitrous feature also is with playing more top end games which I otherwise wouldn't be able to play without really low fps.
Sent from my LG-P504 using XDA App
Im using cyanogenmod nightly 7.2.0 build 34 on 748 mhz with any governer and it's working very well.OC also depends on ROM's.each ROM has different capabilities to OC...
I found a solution to fix the Doom kernel reboots for those who are unable to download stock roms from HTC (Rogers Customers). Requires CWM Recovery.
1. Download stock kernel here - http://www.box.com/s/7dc3bf2adc9e2f05b717
2. Unzip archive
3. Move Zip file to SD card
4. Reboot into bootloader fastboot reboot-bootloader
5. Flash the img file fastboot flash boot name.img
6. Go into CWM and install the zip.
This solved my problem, hopefully it works for you guys too.
This should work on ALL devices not just Rogers
it doesn't actually solve the kernel issues...
your just replacing him.
i still think his kernel has a lot more potential than the stock.
It fixed my issue.
I care more about having a functional tablet than a kernel that may have more potential but is buggy as hell.
i agree. and i'm running the stock as well.. just wished the doomlord one would work as well.
Hi there,
Noob user here.
I got HTC JetStream from previous owner with doomlord Kernel on it.
Tablet is constantly crashing for no logical reason which leads me to believe that the kernel is causing this issue.
I would like to flash back to the stock kernel only as my device (Rogers) is running a stock image.
I am having difficulties to follow your instructions.
Wold somebody be so kind to post more detailed process steps to complete this kernel flashing back to stock.
Thank you very much.
I had the same random reboots using Doom's kernel until i overclocked it to the maximum. It's been almost 2 weeks since i experienced any reboots....

could you be more specific?
did you set both the minimum and the maximum to the maximum?
did u change the voltage?
Yes I changed the min & max all the way to max.. not sure if it will have some long term effects on my tablet, but it's been working great for a while now.

lol... so the "solution" to the DooM kernel reboots is to not use the DooM kernel. Brilliant.
If I find some time this weekend, I'll try maxing out the O/C though and see how it goes, as I do find the DooM kernel snappier, even at stock speeds.

You do realize that by doing that you are running your kernel at max speed constantly which means additional heat, stress and wear on all systems?

No, it won't run at max speed constantly unless I set the governor to "performance" mode. In "interactive" mode, which I believe is the default, it will still clock the CPU at its minimum value until the tablet needs more CPU resources, such as when scrolling, loading a webpage, playing a game, etc.
But yes, I'm aware of the risks of overclocking. I've overclocked every HTC device I've had very few problems (my One XL has exhibited some bootloops, so I've stopped O/C'ing it.)

I'm running 1.83 ghz ondemand with also the lowest setting for the min freq setting. I will increase it to 1.944ghz ondemand as the max setting and increase my min setting to 756Mhz on deadline, and see if the reboots stop, otherwise I will have to install the stock kernal.
I am just wondering if I install the stock kernel on top of my OziMood rom, if this will cause Rom problems?
Any thoughts on this?

I have mine on max: 1.62 ghz , min: 594 onDemand and it hasn't crashed in two or three days. So we'll see. Now to answer your question, if you want to flash back to stock on that Rom you'll have to install the stock WiFi modules from recovery. After that everything should work normally.

So far, I haven't had anymore reboots.
Increasing the minimum seems helpful.
I get plenty of battery life, so I am really happy about this for now.

seriously? why do you need to overclock! the galaxy s3 isn't a PC with a water cooling system!!!!!!!!! if you want to overclock, go to the stweaks app and scroll down on the first page. you will find a few sliders for the cpu clock speed. i recommend a MAX of 1.5ghz And tp be safe, slap on a undervolt of 25 or 50 ( just above the sliders) you get the idea.

This is a direct port of my kernel on the international I9300 Galaxy S3 and sidekick to the international N7100/5 Note 2 kernels.
Recap of features:
CPU overclocking up to 1.8GHz and undervolting from 600mV to 1400mV.
GPU overclocking and undervolting.
GPU scaling reworked.
Screen sharpness and colour modifications.
Extended Pegasusq and improved Performance governors.
Removed Touch Booster and replaced with custom Flexrate mechanic.
Improved scheduler power management for improved idle residencies on auxiliary CPUs.
USB charging rate limit increased to 900mA.
Application for control of various settings.
This is supposed to be merely a proxy thread. Please refer to the N7100/5 thread for full changelogs, explanations, bug-reports and other issues. Kernel for specific device versions will be posted here.
This kernel is for the North American Verizon variant SCH-I605. Versions for other variants are found in their respective forums.
You obviously need to be unlocked with the "Suck it Verizon" bootloader/IROM unlock method before flashing this. I will not be responsible if you break your device by screwing up anything related to that.
flashing now!
Freaking awesome. Thank you for posting this.

You let me know if there's something wrong. Now before things go down the same way as the other US variants, I implore everybody please read in the international N2 thread linked above for information about the kernel and the newest additions or if there's something wrong, it will always be more up to date than the proxy threads.
This kernel is absolutely insane! Wow!!
STWEAKS PROFILES! and proper bootloop fix.
Alright! now that Perseus Kernel .28 is out we have a new added feature that lets us implement override profiles!
What does this mean?
Well now this UNCHECK SET ON BOOT zip will actually just update your current default.profile and uncheck the set on boot options.
Which makes it the best fix for a bootloop, because you can then go back in to your old settings that failed and modify them.
I also am going to be generating 5 profiles. (will edit this post)
Each more aggressive overclocking and undervolting.
For people who are unsure of how to do do this properly with Stweaks,
You can just flash any of my profiles.
I recommend you download them all start at 5 and flash, if you bootloop or crash move up a profile until your stable!
Profile 5G is the one I run everyday (and is the lowest values for voltages)
It also is 200-1800 mhz overclocked and gpu 160-640 mhz
My custom governor tweaks (I believe the cpu is too aggressive and also the cores dont respond as much as id like to see them responding, 1 core on idle, 4 cores when needed.)
Profile 5 is the one I run everyday (and is the lowest values for voltages)
It also is 200-1800 mhz overclocked and gpu 160-640 mhz
STOCK governor settings
Profile 4 is slightly less aggressive on the voltages
200-1800 mhz 160-640
Profile 3 is slightly less aggressive on the voltage curve
200-1800mhz 160-533
Profile 2 is slightly less aggressive on the voltage curve
200-1600mhz 160-533
Profile 1 is slightly less aggressive on the voltage curve
200-1600mhz 160-533
Profile 0 is the DEFAULT profile the kernel came with. (it just deletes your profile and rebuilds it so its safe for all versions inlcuding S3-i9000)
EDIT: I have also included a zip with just the governor tweaks, these will not alter your voltages on cpu/gpu and will not change your max cpu
custom governor tweaks detailed below:
here is my logic
defaults parameter mine
30000 sampling rate 20000
82 up threshold 90
5 down diff 10
40% thres for response 81
1200 freq for fast down 1600
95 up thres fast down 98
37 up step 18
6 splice amount 4
13 down diff 8
With the default settings when the load is measured if the cpu load is over 82% off current freq step it will scale up.
New logic added in perseus .27 now gives us 3 up steps instead of just a fixed one.
so your cpu will step up more aggressively based on how much above the threshold it is, not just if its over, this is
great.
Right now, if we are coming in with a
load of 83%-88% we increase freq by 300mHz
if we are 89-94% we increase freq by 400 mHz and
if we are 94-100% then we increase freq by 700 mHz.
This is too fast for me.
For a few reasons the main one being that the amount we jump has gone up because our max cpu is 1800 instead of 1600 (at 1600 the jump ups are 200,300,600mhz)
The logic I use on my N2 is as follows:
Load of 90-94 = 100 mhz jump
load of 95-98 = 200 mhz jump
load of 99-100 = 400 mhz jump
The responsiveness of the phone is not compromised at all, the cpu just steps up less and only when it has really high loads(keep in mind the load is calculated every 20000 microseconds or 50 times in one second.)
It still gets to 1800 and does many operations there, but it comes out of 1800 fast and when it jumps down it jumps down further.
The fastdown has been upped from 1200 to 1600 , meaning it now requires 98% or higher load to jump up when above 1600 mhz not 1200 mhz, I found that the CPU was always in 1800 or like way lower,
never in the 1700 - 1200 range as it used to need 95% load to be in that range.
The cores hotplug has been slightly changed to turn off cores quicker when not in use and takes more samples to turn them on so they only turn on if load exists for longer duration of time.
PLEASE NOTE
Flashing any of these zips OTHER THEN THE UNCHECK SET ON BOOT will REMOVE your STWEAKS settings and replace them with the profile. PLEASE back up your profile if you want to save it.
Where is it?
/data/.perseus/default.profile << back this guy up. rename to default.profile2 works. or copy to sdcard.
Due to the way that these changes are applied (at initial boot) it will take longer then usual before beginning to display the boot animation for the first boot after changing profile.
This also means that you cannot flash 2 of these files in one boot, for example profile 3 and the governor tweaks.
You would need to flash the governor tweaks or the profile first and then reboot, and then flash the other.
Yay

Or would you flash the governor and the uncheck boot file then go back and flash a profile? What is the original setrtjng without a profile ?.....okay I think i got it. I just need to flash the kernel (the zip file) and start with profile 5. (Can I flash at the same time)
Then if there's problems I can flash the uncheck at boot file so it'll revert and I can make the changes? That about right.

First kernel. Then 5. Have th others in hand. If 5 won't work for you you will be boot looped. The uncheck set on boot will save your ads then reboot. Then flash 4 etc until you are stable. Only one profile per boot flashing more just overrides your last change. The profile is applied at kernel boot

And I hate to be "captain questions" here but what is the tweaks zip? Is that like an app it installs or a script or what?
I just flashed the kernel only, rebooted, opened up STweaks from app drawer, set min to 300mhz, set max OC to 1800mhz, set gpu to 640mhz, and left the other settings stock for the time being. Yup jut do kernel first. Then 5g which will do gov tweaks and cpu gpu oc uv to the most aggressive voltage curve. If it Boot loops just flash 4 and continue
Also the set on boot uncheck is only needed if you want to retain your profile that caused a boot loop so you can adjust it

The problem is the same.. If i play or browsing the frequency scale to 1400 for big cpu and 1090 for little cpu and 310 for gpu
You have the same problem?

Yeah. The phone heats up about the same temperatures for me too. With the stock Leeco EUI software, I had heating between 35-38 °C (battery temperature) so I consider it to be normal now. Actually I'm adapted to the temperatures on Nougat ROMs now.
But you "Block" the frequency of your cpu/gpu?
Instead of limiting your frequency, can you try changing your governor ? To power save etc...

Yes i can try, only governor or AKT profile?
Could you try to switch the governor to power save and see if that makes any difference?

How is the temperature? Maybe you try and test other governors and tell us which worked...

I tried some governor and the problem is the same.. Over 50-55° temp the cpu frequency scale down to 1400 or less
I tried with kernel adiutor set up the "warning temp" from default 70° to 75° but nothing is changed
Tomorrow try with other governors but i think with the same results
Battery temp is 35-39 for me while browsing. 41 while playing games and charging at same time. You should wipe data reflash and and start over

I agree with unrafa, reset everything and/or install another rom. I on crisbal s 26s v5c it is all fine here... Has your phone repaired at one point? Maybe a thermal paste not applied etc...

I have an older version of resurrection remix more battery friendly, with BS kernel, alucard governor and alucard hotplug, it's said to be very battery friendly and at the same time keep phone smooth. Shuts down cpus when there is low payload and turn them on while needed
As you can see the frequencies while playing the game are never at their highest, only very intensive tasks put all CPU to highest frequencies, no lag very fluid
Here is the ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...x-resurrectionremix-m-v5-7-4-t3542355/page423
It's an amazing game you should try it
