LG G2 Camera quality issue - G2 General

Hello.
Just got an LG G2 (D802) and was taking some test pictures to compare its camera to a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) and I came to the conclusion that the G2's camera sucks eggs. Please take a look at the following images, and let me know whether it's an issue with my LG G2, or is that actually the level of quality that is to be expected from a G2's camera. Pictures from both phones were taken with "Open Camera".

If there's any information that I've missed that's needed to diagnose this issue, let me know. Thanks.

Camera test should be done with stock cam on stock rom. Third party apps or roms are not optimized for the device and missing proprietary drivers. Your "test" is completely worthless. G2 cam makes better photos than S3, tried both. Check the lense for scratches. They can cause blur.

Thanks for your reply. Pardon me for not being aware of the proper etiquette regarding cell phone picture comparisons...
Turns out there was a super-thin protector over the camera that I'd completely forgotten to take off. Pictures are MUCH better now that that's off. Silly me...

Also in Camcorder too, it just keeps focusing in and out, it messes up the whole vid.
It looks almost like it doesn't take long enough to focus properly most of the time... Can you adjust the focus area or how long it takes to focus?
Its because the hd2 doesnt have the camera button that when you press half way it focuses.
On a similar note I have found photo quality with the WP7 camera to be absolutely appalling compared to the photo quality when I was using Android in similar conditions. Anyone else notice this?
actually i think it sucks, it used to be awesome when i had android on mine, but these are dreadfull.
thsi was taken in dark room, i think it still sucks, it owuld have of been better on android

I must agree that the pictures are not good, in fact i must say that are really bad.
Is there any way to set up the picture quality MPixels, or something?

Xperia Z2 main camera quality questionable

Hello XDA,
There has been some talk about the Z2 camera and its questionable performance, especially when comparing to other flagship devices.
Here's the first comparison. From a phonearena phototest. Clearly Z2 did terrible here. Blurry all the way.

So i wasnt shure if this was a technical problem, or a software problem. Did some tests myself, taking same shot with superior auto, full manual (resized to 8mp), and google stock camera app. And heres what I found out:
Look at the bins closely. Especially the lid. Google's stock camera has most detail and did better than Sony's own optimized one! Thats a bit shocking, isn't it?
I took some more shots that day using the superior auto, and guess what - they all came out very different, even though they were shot in completely same settings. What happened with the so "softening" of the images is what I believe is distortion correction. When sony's own software tries to fix that distortion, its blurs the image slightly in some parts of the image (depening on where it wants to corrects the distortion).
here's the test - couple of shots in auto + one in manual. And the result:
I just hope sony's going to fix their algorithms and provide a little update to their camera later on. Now I need to take 3-4 shots everytime to get the sharpest out of my shot, hoping the software will not "fix" down the picture it took.
Cheers All.

Camera focus not working at all (stuck)

My phone's focus won't work at all, even when I tap an object in the background. The focus is permanently set for objects 2-3 feet away.
I'm using stock ROM (5.9.020S) on an X820. Previously the focus worked but it seemed to make a lot of noise, and it would sometimes randomly cycle through different focuses even when nothing changed (I'm assuming this is the autofocus bug that other people have had).
Anything I can try? I've wiped the phone and the same bug persists with factory settings. I get the same issue in multiple camera apps (including the stock app). I had a lens protector covering the camera, but removing that didn't make a difference.
I saw this thread with possibly the same issue, and I notice that when I shake the phone, the focus seems to come unstuck and work partially. But it's a nightmare getting a sharp focus long enough to take a picture. Anything else I can try (besides the freezer trick or sending it back)?
Have you tried going in the settings and toggle the tap to focus? Try that, hope this helps

Did you tried replacing the camera module?? I'm thinking to replace it with the one available on AliExpress.
*The Leeco should support this phone for atleast an year but seems like they will not. Helpline no. Dead, Service center closed or they make excuses. They just ate our precious money*

Disable OIS Samsung S9

Is there any way to disable the optical image stabilization on an Android device? Preferably S9 as that's what I'm using, not sure if this is a thing that can be done on rooted Android devices?
I'm using it with a full frame fisheye lens as an action cam (like GoPro) with a chest harness and so far it works great, I think the quality is a lot better than GoPro (especially at night) and the lens is wider too, but there's one kind of big problem because it is using OIS and it was not designed for bigger shakes it actually ruins the image for a split second, it seems the OIS shifts the lens out of focus whenever the phone is shaked a bit hard - you can test this with your phone by shaking it forward-up-down and then playing the video back frame by frame, it is very noticeable anyway.
So what I was hoping is that by disabling the OIS (it seems to be controlled electronically and tries to compensate for the shake) it could hopefully maybe fix this, although I'm not very optimistic by this, there are moving parts in the hardware but what I noticed is that if I shake the phone without the camera app open, the camera makes more noise/moves more versus when the camera app is open, so maybe just maybe there is a way to mod the electronic part to hold it into place all the time?
Here is a gif of an example of what happens when you shake the phone, please note that this is not motion blur, but it is actually out of focus when that happens, it is exactly the same result whether I use it in very bright lightning conditions or low.

I was really happy with the results with this phone and the fact that you can edit and share content right away, would be great to solve this problem! By the way I'm using it with a Blackeye Pro Fisheye G4 lens if anyone is curious.

Moto G8 Power LOCKED version , what can this do in terms of GCAM, RAW DNG and long exposure?

I have a G8 Power locked version on order. Was curious what are it's limitations in terms of installing and using GCAM.
1) Can I do at least GCAM 6.x with HDR+ functionality with the main camera? I am guessing yes?
2) As far as long exposure with ANY app with this locked version....guessing long exposure beyond 1/3 or half second is probably not going to happen right?
3) Will any version of Gcam 7.X work?
4) DNG RAW probably supported out of the box with 3rd party app right?
Thanks for any info.
I use Wichaya's gcam, and I regularly update it. works fine really, only thing is it doesn't work when screen is locked. you have to setup the IDs, but that's par for the course. the stock moto camera is better if you want the macro, as the flash is dimmed, which is good since you're so close the regular one reflects everywhere.
oh, and the stock case is a ****ing joke. the flash is literally unusable with it on lol
I have used multiple GCam variants up to 8.1. The Urnyx05/Wichaya variant works the best for access to all cameras and quality photos. I have tested a few other variants and other camera apps trying to improve on astrophotography, but the real limit is the 1/2 second exposure. This is really a shame, but quality images are possible - see the Orion Nebula below. I am able to edit raw dng files in Snapseed or export them to my PC for editing.
