Can someone tell me how can I change ugly green Android smileys to normal?
If you are rooted try Emoji Switcher from Playstore and select Stock. Lollipop or Kitkat.

Use another SMS app that supports emojis since the one you're using uses only ttf monochrome emoticons.
I use chomp sms, but notifications is not visible on S-View cover and Galaxy Gear is not O. K. too... stock sms app is ok, except smileys... On older sms app is smileys ať xxhdpi folder and change they is easy. On lollipop is on other place, but i don't know where... I changed emoticons at framework-res and air-message, but nothing change...

The smileys pngs are in SecSetting.apk
Go to System/prive-app/SecSetting & Copy your SecSetting.apk to your desktop, then extract it using winrar, then find the smileys pngs, and download a pack of other smileys, and rename them to the original smileys name in your SecSetting.apk.
after that open your setting.apk and don't extract it, just push the new pngs (that you have renamed) there and copy your SecSetting.apk back to its original place and chage permissions.
Note: Dont forget to backup.
I didn't find any smiley pngs at secsettings...
I found them on framework-res, but when i change pngs, nothing change...
There actually in system/fonts/Notocolor_emoji.tiff. easy way is to replace the file with one you want. Hard way is to try and mod the file.
Not working...

yes it works you must have rooted your phone
i copied Gallery3D.apk from my x10i to my x10 mini pro on sdcard, with root eplorer copied into system/app ( sure you mount rw) and set permissions to 644 (user read-write,group read, others read)
and with adw launcher i put a shortcut on my screen
long press on screen, other short command, Select Activity, Activities, scroll to galerie and choose it, now you have a short cut for 3d gallery
download gallery3D.apk from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826849
better download GalleryFixedCamera.apk frome here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829571 thanks sanjay_bandaru
now you can launch the app fom app drawer on your homelauncher and you can launch camera directly
and look for a nice black theme, http://www.mobil-talk.de/android/6857-theme-mini-goes-black.html worked too, thanks to Bueffel
sry for bad english
I've been "reading" (I don't speak German) the black theme thread, but I don't know what files I have to download for my x10 mini (not pro) with android 2.1 (nordic firm).
Can anyone help me?
basically the last 2 added (which you could have imagined by name 2.0.xxxxx^^)
i think in order to change the most things framework does the job
to get fully black theme you'll need to change the apps as well.
change it as descrebed here in the forum section as any other theme as well
greets Mo
Great find on that black theme. Personally its better than the blue theme but just to black here and there for my liking. I find pulpoff and draco_ag's theme for the 1.6 (hopefully to be ported to 2.1) more pleaseing to the eye a tad greyer here and there. But i appreciate the work done

Anyway to get this working with the default launcher?
Anyway to get this working with the default launcher?
@ abhi98228 hmm for me all worked, no problem with market.
@iphonepimp what working with default launcher? 3d Gallery? Check the GalleryFixedCamera.apk on my first post, it worked.
I like the gallery... but there is one bug with the detailsbutton... it's to big (the button on top if you choose a image).
I copy a smaler picture from the apk over the big detailbutton to fix this, but can't resign the apk correctly. I attached my apk (you have to remove the old app, then install the new apk) and the smaler image. perhaps someone can correctly resing the apk with the image.
Thanks for the new apk. works well.
This is nice thanks a lot!

Why dont you optimize the image?i think it will work
Which xml's must I edit and what code should I look for in order to change the dock background color? I tried reading the tuts on xda but they are somewhat unclear and mostly talk about the progress bar (bar attached to pulldown menu). Can someone help me? Once I figure out which files to change I believe I will be good!
Am I in the wrong section?
kinda need to know what launcher you are using... if you use launcherpro, just edit the .png to your liking, and assign dock background under custom in launcherpro settings...
if your on a rom without a market launcher you can use ninja morph. go to system/app/twframework once it opens it up go to res/drawable hdpi (V4) if you have that. then look for the files you want to change. long press the file and hit edit you can adjust the color and the transparencey. it will not save until you push menu/save image then go back to the main screen hit finish/twframework*******very important******** hit overwrite/ no to zipalign/ no to clean up. then reboot and your done.
with ninja morph you can change icon and icon colors along with transparency. congtratulations.
******BY THE WAY IF I DID NOT MENTION******** NANDROID BACK UP *********************************************************
AS LONG AS YOU HAVE YOUR STUFF BACKED UP YOU CAN EDIT AND CHANGE WHATEVER.
If you have a third party launcher the process is still the same. except the files are in data/app/ (whatever launcher your using) once you complete the work you finish project/no to overwrite
download signapktic fro, the market find the file in adroidthemes/workspace and select platform/ then sign it.
uninstall the original launcher and go to your files and install you work. i have done this with launcher pro and altered it to my liking because of the icons and docks.
GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!

Hey guys, anyone can show me how change the volume bar color and the lockscreen clock font, so it looks the same as ICS. I'm using CM7. Please tell my exactly what to do (what I use to ''open'' and close'' the needed files, what to change, what possible files to change, etc), because my knowledge isn't good at this.
Thanks in advance.

You need to flash the ICS font. I think it was called roboto or something along these lines. Search the forum, you will find it. Its a zip file.
Regarding the volume bar though - think u need to change framework.apk. not sure tho.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
I don't think I need to flash the font. I use font changer, and it should change everything, even the clock, so I think it's framework related too, but I don't know how change it.
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Never mind about the clock, I changed the Clockopia.tff for AndroidClock.tff and renamed it. But it still want to change the volume bar color.

I know that, but I have 3 MODs on my framework, and I must know what to change in the framework to change the color. There must be a code somewhere that says wich color is used for the bar.
you need to decompile framework. (there are milliond of guides on how) once done go to the res/drawable folder. In it look for the progress_horizontal.xml file. open that file with notepad or notepad++ to edit it. there are 3 sets of 3 colors in there. top group is for the background grey, you need to change the other two groups.
Also, if you know the hex color for ics off hand i will do the change and send you the file so you can drop it straight into the framework.

Thanks for your help. I will try to find the hex color from ICS, and after that I upload my framework. But I won't turn on my PC today. Tomorrow, after I wake up, I will upload it.
EDIT: Found color code. Can make sure is this one (I am on my phone), but here is it: FF33B5E5
EDIT 2: If possible, take some screenshots and send to me, only from the editing part. I was trying to do and I coudn't understand exactly how to change.

mate did you managed it to get the change of volume bar color like ics.
Hi,
I want to replace the black background in the menu on my Xperia Arc S. Currently, the background is kind of grey (depending on the selected theme) but I want it to be completely black.
Details about my phone:
ICS 4.0.3
4.1.A.0.562
LT18i
My phone is rooted but my bootloader is closed.
What is an easy way to do that?
Thank you!
Agree, I don't really like the semi-transparent in menu pages it's not that great...
But I don't know why the modders don't put any attention on it (most of them just make the icons appear in 5X4, and more home screens).
I like the app drawer bacground in recent TouchWizz, it's not completely black, it's semi-transparent but with darker black at the bottom side...
I really wish some modders interesting in this stuff
Easy,
Get the defaulthemes.apk from /system/app
Open it with winrar/7zip, go to /res/drawable-hdpi
Now select the image for the theme you want, replace its 'application background' image with yours (a completely black one) and make sure it's 480x854
P.S. - you can have a look at my two themes, they're in my signature

keep the names of jpg same as in defaultthemes.apk.
For example: keep the jpg name black_application_background for silk theme , blue_application_background for sapphire them and so on. Then drag the jpgs into drawable hdpi by opening in 7zip.

Thank you, Man:good:. Now it works and I got a brandnew background
I have a related question...
I have an app and its background is black...How can I patch it to follow system theme background? Is there any way?
In Jelly Beans, there is no such defaultthemes.apk in system/app. Where can one find it in Jelly Beans based ROM?
Hi,
I want to change default emoticons to something else, cause I dont like the green ones.
I've read that I have to modify mms.apk. But in Nubia, sms app is integrated with phone and contacts app, right?
Can someone tell me the the name of the apk and a location? I've looked in /system/app but found nothing interesting there (I think).
Anyway, when I have the right apk what am I supposed to do?
Can I just extract apk (with 7zip), change the pngs and pack it back?
