I have a rooted S2 running a rom named jeebo. Anyway I have been getting a notification pestering me to update SU User and after that the device would not boot at all (thanks for the update)! The phone would not go into recovery but I could force it into download mode. using Odin 1.85 I managed to flash the original jeebo kernel and CWM files and it will now go into recovery mode. Unfortunately in recovery mode I can access the menu but it will not do anything, the "top hat" just sits there? I would like to back up the data to the SD card and then start again and flash a more up to date rom to the device. Is there anyway I can retrieve my apps data?
Thanks
Fixed it.
Thanks
Works great

hey guys, so i was playing with titanium backup and i accidentally deleted google talk, which interfered with the market, and i cant download anything from there anymore
i am running on stock 2.1 rom, but it is androoted
i tried pushing the googletalk.apk into system/apps but it wouldnt let me, it said the partition is read-only
can someone please tell me how to reinstall google talk back?
oh and apparently i dont have a recovery image because i flashed clockwork and amonra with rom manager, but now i cant get rom manager back on through the market
and i do have a nandroid backup of when my phone was normal, but i cant flash cuz i dont have a recovery image
what should i do now?
thanks a lot
First things first... the recovery needs to be fixed.
Dl fresh copy of chosen recovery put in proper place
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery xxxxxxx.img
then get into recovery and reflash the rom you have. Don't wipe but clear dalvik/cache just reflash as long as its the same exact rom you had before.
im running the hero on fastboot usb, and running fastboot from cmd from the folder its in, and when i type erase recovery it says "erasing 'recovery'...FAILED remote: not allow
did you try any other executables -- we need to confirm you have a good setup. Can you do
fastboot reboot bootloader
and if it reboots when it comes back
fastboot erase recovery
if it erases - great - if not -- keep going (pick amon-ra if you were using cwm before just for this)
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
and if it flashes... great -- if not -- Plan B
Boot into the ROM and try to reflash Clockworkmod with the ROM Manager. If that fails -- then when in the ROM - run fix_permissions and just try to get it in working order. Be careful though -
if that still fails Do you happen to have a recent nandroid? Boot all four partitions in - recovery system boot and datauser and that will give you another shot at recovery.
Thirdly why dont you just extract the same gapps file that you last flashed... and just restore it piece by piece. If you only dissed Gtalk then put it back where it needs to be and reboot. Thats yet another way.
oh nvm i fixed it, installed rom manager and a few other apks through adb install, and through terminal emulator flashed clockwork, then flashed stock ROM
thanks for all your help!
Deleted Android Market with Titanium Backup.
I accidentally deleted Android Market app from my rooted Samsung Galaxy Pro using the Titanium Backup! I need it back. Any suggestions?
I tried downloading an apk file from somewhere, it installed but force closes every time I try to update something or download a new app. Says something like "com.android.vendor" has stopped.
Yes, I'm a noob and stupid coz I didn't watch what I was deleting.
I would like some help.
I have a samsung galaxy s3 international model and
rooted it using Chainfire's CF-Root 6.4 - SuperSU+CWM5.5+CWMManager
Now I did an OTA update of 7mb approx and lost root and tryed to re-flash CF-Root
But im not able to go into download mode in recovery mode?
shotpix.com/images/23588341243990019557.jpg
moreover how do run adb reboot download command?
And on every normal restart the phone shows a message, "Android is upgrading...start applications"
shotpix.com/images/08905428090536950785.jpg
And i tryed to add more OTA updates but the installation fails at 25%, phone reboots and asks me to update via KIES?
Can anyone help me out with this, this is my first android and dont wanna mess up
And do i need to remove supersu and cwm to reroot?
OTA fails if rooted = YES.
You say
But im not able to go into download mode in recovery mode?
Do you mean you cannot boot to download mode >> Or you are looking for download mode in recovery .
Boot into recovery wipe data factory reset flash stock rom via Odin .
jje
My bad, i was rebooting while holding Volume up, and it was volume down
Now phone is booting into download mode, and i have reflashed it successfully.
My first OTA was installed 100%,and that is how i lost root, however second update failed?
And im still getting the "Android is upgrading...start applications"

Hello Guys...
I was trying to install BotBrew on my samsung Galaxy S3 and it didn't work. While i was unistalling the app the phone crashed and now the system looks dead.
I entered recovery mode (TWRP) and i can access about everything, but there aren't no more files under directory like "system" and "data".
I tried connect odin by the recovery with the option "mount usb drive" but odin doesn't find the phone.
What can i do now?
My phone settings:
JellyBean 4.2 Stock, ROOTED
Stock Kernel
TWRP v2.4.4.0
Do you have I9300 ??
Restore your Nandriod backup as first option .
jje
The problem is that i don't have a nandroid backup, i lost it with the PC formatting and forgot to make another one :crying:
Can you enter in Download Mode using 3 buttons combo?
If yes, connect to odin and flash a stock firmware
Yes i could.
But anyway i installed Cyanogenmod with the recovery and it works...
I don't know why i didn't remember that odin need the "Download Mode" and not the Recovery, well I'm a noob!
Thank you anyway guys!
EDIT:
It's gone again...
I set it in Donwload Mode and flash the official rom to get it back. ANd now it doesn't boot, keep on screen "Samsung".
yes, you need to do a factory reset from recovery for it to boot
Hey guys -
I'm having trouble getting CWM Recovery to work with my YP-G70. I've rooted, installed ROM Manager, wiped data and partitions, installed Odin, Used Odin to (supposedly) flash the DD_01142012.tar recovery to the device. Everything looks successful, but when booting back up ROM manager only gives me the option to go to "recovery setup" instead of the normal flash option. Even when I reboot it in recovery, it just goes to the standard android recovery screen. Any ideas on how to fix this? It may be painfully obvious, this is my first root.

Rom Manager does not work for this device ( I think ) and you should not use it. "DD_01142012.tar" is not just a recovery, it's the kernel too. They are integrated. Flash it again and hold power and vol-up during boot up to get to recovery then flash your rom...
This worked for me.
Took out battery for about 5 minutes, insert batt, Hold vol up + power to get into download mode. Use a $5 jig from ebay/amazon if you want to force download mode. This phone is almost impossible to brick. Only physical damage can brick.Since this is an old phone the issue for recovering from a soft brick is really non availability of required files.
When you have a soft brick like this ..ie., stuck in 3e recovery. Even if you odin back to stock you cannot get into recovery (stock or cwm). You are permanently hardware locked out of recovery. Once stock odin'd to eclair or froyo phone will boot up into that rom fine but you cannot get into recovery and you cannot root. At this stage odin Darky resurrection which is available in tar/pit format. It is a rooted kernel/rom combo. Since iam a new user forum did not allow me to paste any external links here. Google for "Install Darky ROM 10.2 Resurrection" and pick first link.
Now you have rooted kernel and nice rom but still no recovery. From market download some apk installer that works with darky. I just searched for apk installer and picked the first one. Just downloading rom manager may not work since rom manager does not support older versions like eclair/froyo anymore.... Google for "com.koushikdutta.rommanager.apk" and download this apk from some cyber graveyard..Install this apk, open installed rom manager and select reboot into recovery. Now finally i had working recovery and could flash any zip , wipe format etc.. Good luck.
tip: odin must be setup (select files, uncheck boxes..) before getting phone into download mode. Otherwise odin will get stuck. Just re-start all over if this happens.
