New Nova Launcher update - Galaxy Note 4 Themes and Apps

Has anyone noticed on the new Nova update that it won't let you use icon changer is there a way around this because I use it to brighten up my icons

How do I get back to the old Nova Launcher

Mine works fine. I do have the paid version though.

Also have the paid version and icon changer works fine.

Quite expensive at the moment. The price went up from 3 to 5.25 euros.

ADW Ex is 3.1 ready. I still like the new honeycomb launcher for now though myself.

good to know that it works on 3.1. I would guess the home replacement app is not ready for 3.1 yet.
launch pro was mentioned somewhere in the forum ...another home app ...

using Launcher Pro and it works great, but not optimized for tablet yet.
I'm currently using ADW Launcher EX. I've gotten better performance from it than the stock launcher. Can't wait for the next release as it should have better integration with Honeycomb.
i never used launch pro , why i have an impression that the app allows you to customerize widget rather than being a home app ..

It lets you adjust the widget size if you purchase the full version, but it's mainly meant as a replacement home.
I use ADW EX after trying Launcher Pro which had a number of FC's. Adw flies on my GT but LP's widgets look great on the big screen. Just a bit of advice if you use a custom launcher is set the orientation to portrait or landscape and set it the way you want. The screens don't transition well if you use large widgets which I do.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
I use LauncherPro primarily because of its great looking widgets and widget resizing. Honeycomb's resizing features only work with certain widgets specifically designed to support it. LauncherPro will resize any widget.
The only thing I don't like about LauncherPro is its app drawer, but for that, I have a shortcut to an activity that points to the native home screen. I haven't been able to locate the specific command to automatically launch its app drawer, but just getting to the home screen is a start. In theory, you could launch any replacement home screen's app drawer.

Launcher Pro

Has anyone tried Launcher Pro on the Photon 4G?
Side note i have use it on all my other phones. But I'm wondering if Moto plays nice with LP?
Thanks in advanced to anyone that answers or reads.

I've been using Launcher Pro since the day I got the photon and haven't had any problems.
Launcher pro was the first thing I installed on my photon. Works great.
I have tried several launchers (Launcher Pro, Regina, Honeycomb, GoLauncher) on the Photon, and all seemed to work well. I currently have Launcher Pro installed (that is the launcher I commonly use), and have no problems.
+1 same here!

only flaw i've noticed is that when changing docks, they don't appear normally as they did on phones like EVOs. this is most likely due to the resolution change from WVGA to a qHD display. aside from that though, works beautiful, just gotta have the docks resized to appear proportionate.
Update I went ahead and downloaded it on the Photon 4G and its really nice but in a odd way i miss the the stock look... It could the the way im setting up shop again just like my last 2 phones so i may need to change icons up a bit...

Launcher Pro works fine, but I found an odd bug (I think). If you have the 'Home' button set to open the app drawer, it works in both portrait and landscape. But when you open the kickstand (select home launcher, not clock widget at the popup) and the phone is forced into landscape, the 'Home' button will no longer open at app drawer.
use it everyday i love it
Best launcher ive used so far, had it on my evo, epic and now on my photon =] u wont have any problems with this launcher

Last week I bought shell 3d but it keeps crashing. I've since gone back to Launcher Pro and plan on staying with it.
I had an issue where my docks were not refreshing so in the empty space thete was still colors from the previous apps being dragged across..

Anybody with Launcher Pro try it with the HD Station dock? When I put my Photon into the dock and bring up webtop, the photon screen locks up and doesn't turn into a touch pad.
I can't seem to get an app that shows the battery life in 1% increments while using LauncherPro. anyone have one to suggest?
Also, can't find a 3g on/off toggle to work either. suggestion?
other than that, i'm usually a stock guy (from epic), but i am using launcherpro now and love it...the universal inbox was the kicker for me....i didn't like the email box on the stock....on launcherpro things seems to be much more customizable!

Minimalistic text is what I've been using for the one percent battery. The only thing I've noticed with launcher pro is that when I use my kick stand my home screen does nothing. No popup no force landscape nothing. (May have missed something but kick stand box is checked in settings). Other than that it works great and I like it.

No, the kickstands trick doesn't seem to work with any alternate launcher. I use LP and created an activity shortcut I put on my dock that opens the nightstand mode.

ADW EX update

Anyone else like the previous ADW version better than the new updated version? No hidden dockbar is killing me.

I don't use ADW Ex but I saw this on my twitter feed yesterday.
@davekover ADW EX users: To hide your dockbar in the new update, set a gesture swipe action to 'open/close dockbar' -- temporary solution.

Ya that's what I'm doing for now but it is impossible to set up the launcher like I had it before. Now whenever you hide the dockbar it also moves all icons and Widgets on screen as well and its very choppy. Glad they said temporary fix. Maybe they'll add it back in.

It's starting to grow on me. Not updating it on my tablet though, because apparently, the update messes up my homescreen setup (Hubs).
Good to know..
I haven't updated yet.
Im gonna save a copy of this apk b4 I check it out
Previous version was definitely smoother for me, hoping for an update to fix that. Adjusting to it but since I didn't use hidden dock that much the transition hasn't been as hard as it might be for others.
Just switched to adw today. For 10 cents how can you go wrong? Coming from go launcher it is a slight change, but growing on me. Had to get Android pro widgets because I missed my go launcher Facebook widget. Not as many effects but seems a little smoother.

What worked for me to hide the dockbar was to make the swipe up gesture to hide the dockbar, then once it was gone change the swipe up gesture back to what i wanted it to be (which was app drawer for me), and the dockbar stayed hidden! I hope this wasn't too confusing and I hope this helps!

yeah me too, I was expecting a choice of launchers like the video showed, but after it installed it went to ADW only, so I spent a while re-doing my screens
to the folks missing the hidden dock bar, can't you just hide it? I made the swipe-up show/hide it. I don't know what I'm missing since I didn't see the old verision.
also adw notifier quit working on my widgetlocker lockscreen (but that was before the install).
I used the preset fast and this thing zooms now

Paid for EX like a year ago. Loving the update because it finally allows the ics dock to scale properly.

so is it just me, or do other people have to tap 3-4 times to launch stuff on the dock? If I pull the icon off the dock and put it back on it works on one tap. the tap is registering because the icon highlights blue, but it commonly takes a few tries...?

Nova, Apex, Trebuchet

I'm not trying to make a versus thread. I have tried all three and to be completely honest they all basically feel the same to me- I was just wondering if there are any snazzy features in one absent in the other. I am personally using Nova launcher currently but it has stopped working on me several times on AOKP build 32. Also if anyone could give a little input for reliability on either apex or trebuchet as i've been using Nova the longest I believe.
I think apex is the best. It seems to be totally fully featured, as in a few things that come free as opposed to paying for a few extra features on nova (I can't remember exactly what the were)

I installed APEX as soon as I installed AOKP and I havent look elsewhere.
Apex bothered me with its "All, Downloaded, Widgets" app drawer setup, and I didn't see a way to remove the Downloaded tab. So I use Nova.
Apex They are great at responding to e-mails if you have any problems. I was having an issue they gave me a beta version that's not released I gave them feedback and then they pushed the beta to the play store

That part of it is a tad on the weird side, since it is not called that in the drawer
I have to be honest, I used ADW back with CM7 and just kept on using it. Easier to keep backed up even since no ics rom seems to use it so it's not a system app.
As long as I can make folders and stick five apps at the bottom I'm happy.

well it sounds like I need to get more friendly with Apex, but I do agree that trebuchet is a good launcher. Nova has just unfortunately slipped up too many times for my tastes...
Apex ftw!
I've been playing around with apex and got my homescreens how I like them but one thing i've had trouble with is widgets. Several widgets have needed re-sizing and in order for the widget to not be chopped off i have to re-size it to where it takes up more room than it should. I have stock (240) dpi, and I played with the persistent search bar but no dice. It may just be that they aren't being sized correctly in the first place by apex i dunno...
Why i say trebuchet beats them all its because it works the way it should no issue really simple settings and doesn't too much like a custom launcher...

I use Nova and paid for Prime. It's only a little bit of money. I tried Apex and didn't like it as much. I didn't like Trebuchet because I couldn't do anything about the dock. Roll with what you want.
i didn't like Trebuchet launcher. There wasn't really that much customization you could do. Apex was pretty cool IMO but, for some reason i couldn't place down any widgets, so i moved on to Nova Launcher. It works fine for me. I haven't had any problems whatsoever and i can deal with the free version. Just my 2 cents
I like apex it has a little more options to customize things like folders and how they look. It was a little annoying how I couldn't put Widgets down from application drawer but if you long press screen you could place widget down or download apex apk and move it to system apps through root explorer and reboot.

Best launcher for Nook Tablet

I am using Go Launcher currently which seems pretty good, but also seems very bloated. I use ADW on my phone so tried that on the nook, and the icons where either too small or blurry when I made them bigger. What do you guys use?

It's hard to tell. I would have run them with the intent of measuring battery life.
I felt like Go Launcher HD was pretty resource intense. Nova Launcher definitely runs smoother. I ended up buying the pro version.
Go Launcher HD has best implementation of folders, but runs slower and has less options right now. I think that eventually it may be a really great launcher for tablets. If you want a free launcher with folder support then Go Launcher HD is your best bet right now.
I didn't give Apex a lot of time. It seemed buggier to me.
I hope this helps!
ssLauncher
I've just started using SSLauncher -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher&feature=search_result
I *really* like this, especially on a larger screen like the Nook.
I'd say it's kind of a combo between Launcher 7 and using Simple Text or that program that lets you set pictures of any size as icons (can't remember what it is called) It also supports my favorite widgets on screen, too - - but allows them to be resized at something like half or 1/4 icon size intervals. All this is done natively by the launcher app.
It also comes with templates and has some themes. There is a free version - I'm using the paid version which is $3.00.
I'm getting all the functionality on CM7, btw . . . so fluid resizing, etc is not ICS dependent.
It's a new launcher that I stumbled across while searching for something new at the Play store. I may not use it long on my phone, because it seems to work best with lots of screen to fill up. But I think it's a keeper on the Nook.
I'm using Launcher 7. I love that kind of interface. It looks a lot more clean to me. There's a free and a donate version up on the market.

I ended up using ADW Launcher EX myself, I used Go Launcher EX for a while but I found it still pretty buggy in a lot of ways, if I restarted Go Launcher or the Nook the widgets never would reload correctly and every so often the fonts would just get really really big for no reason.
I use Go Launcher HD , but as soon as my WiFi is fixed, I'm gonna try some different ones.
I use Apex Pro on both my phone and Nook. I used to use Go, but found it too resource intensive (though it does, Imo, have the best notification implementation; nothing else I've tried shows Facebook notification badges).
Tried Launcher 7 but didn't like it as much. I'll probably buy Nova Prime the next time it's on sale.

I don't play games or do much media intensive stuff. I do watch the occasional video or mp3. But I mainly read books and browse the web.
