Stop Lollipop update in reboot? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

My S4 was rooted on KitKat and working just fine. I used the Odin App to downgrade, root, and go back to NK1, so no custom recovery.
I should have frozen the update popup but I was going to do the update using Flashfire so I could keep root. in the process of downloading the Rooted Lollipop rom and apparently I accidentally clicked the update button when the popup caught me by surprise. I got the case off and the battery out just as it was booting up to install the update! AH! Is there any way to stop it now? Or am I screwed?
Thanks for the help!

Have you tried an ODIN image? If you've been snooping around recoveries, Safestrap would've been a good option to make a nandroid. Other than that, I'd be out of ideas. AFAIK download mode should be able to be accessed.

Thankyou, I apparently forgot a lot after I researched to root the phone. Yes I got into download mode. I should be able to just take the lollipop rooted rom I was going to use in Flashfire and flash it through ODIN on my PC correct?

you may have to flash nc5 full wipe tar and the pit file in surges thread and then root via towelroot and then flashfire the rooted oc1 rom.
thats what id do.

Just used ODIN to flash the NK1 Kitkat that I was already on, and that got me back to my rooted Kitkat, phew. Now I will flashfire the Rooted OC1 Rom.
Thankyou for the quick replies! I almost messed that up pretty good.

Oh, and just to be safe the first thing I did was freeze the SDM updater. :good:

Galaxy S4-Wont install update after un-root.

I un-rooted my phone because I felt like I needed to start from scratch. So un-rooted back to stock with what seemed like no issues. I first made sure that I used the triangle away app that resets the count to 0. It was at 0 when I ran the app anyway. So after I was back to un-rooted stock I downloaded the available update but when I try to install I get an error message "Sorry, there was a problem updating your samsung sch-i545. no changes were made" Does anyone know what I did wrong or what the fix is?
Please help and thank you!

You can't Odin mdk if you have me7. It won't work. A q-fuse is blown which won't let you down grade.

I wasn't on official ME7 software. I was rooted on MDK, and installed an ME7 based ROM. I didn't take a stock ME7 phone and root it, then try and go back to MDK.
I went back to MDK just fine with Odin. My phone works. However, when I try and install the official software update through the phone, it downloads and then gets an error when I eventually hit install.

Yes. I flashed the MDK tar with Odin.
That's because you rooted to begin with. You need to use Odin to update to ME7. But I would suggest not doing that if you want to run full stock then just use the darkslide rom is me7 but with the loki bootloader. If you do a full update you won't ever be able to flash roms unless someone unlocks the bootloader or safe strap Working. Safe strap maybe will work. But the bootloader I don't think will happen.

It's fine - I can't be rooted for the first time in my life (had the original D1 on Verizon) due to the fact that I just started working. We can only use Good For Enterprise (an app) to get our work email on our phones. There's a workaround to get the app working with root, but it's just not worth it. Hence why I unrooted.
Work pays for a phone, but I don't feel like carrying around two. I can deal with an unrooted phone, I suppose.
Do you possibly have a link to the ME7 Odin file?

Do you really mean that you have safestrap or are you on a "LOKI" rom? Do you have a custom recovery installed? Although I haven't used this, if you are actually using safestrap, then yes, you can use this.

Yes, it's "safe" if you follow the instructions. I have done it.
It will wipe your phone....... Not the SD stuff but everything else it wiped.
You should backup and before doing this with Titanium Backup or ADB.
This will leave you rooted with MK2 still as your bootloader with the ability to ODIN back to MK2 at some point, if need be.
This puts you off the ranch, but ODIN can get you back on the ranch later.
There is currently no other way to have root on KitKat. So if root is important and you want KitKat, this is it.
Now if you don't care about root, go flash the MK2 No-Wipe found on this forum, then take the OTA.
You need to remove SS to do that though.

How'd you try flashing it that led you to here? If you can get into download mode just use the Odin file... Since I don't know exactly what you did you could try mk2but may not work and you may have to Odin NC5.. Little more info will help

Removing Knox from NG6 update

I rooted my device by flashing NC5 with Odin, Towelroot, then flashing NG6. I then used Super User and Root Explorer to enter R/W mode, then searched for "Knox", and deleted all results as the guide I was using told me (can post the link shortly). I then rebooted and now my device doesn't boot past the red Verizon screen. How do I get my device up and running again, and how do I remove Knox so that my phone doesn't keep rebooting itself with the new OTA update?
Thanks in advance!

Then,

Or use Odin and flash the NC6 .tar, then use Titanium Backup or similar and delete the 7 Knox apps. and the com.sec.knox..... file.

Thanks

[ROM] OF6 FULL tar.md5 file Odin Flashable only

i managed to get the OF6 sprint full rom file through kies.
this is only to be flashed using odin in the ap slot.
you will probably lose root and your custom recovery.
you may be able to root it and restore the data . That up to you to try.
This is the Sprint version Only!
here is the link: if someone wants to provide a mirror that would be appreciated.
Disabling 'Reactivation Lock' from 'Security' in the settings allowed me to root and add a custom recovery (TWRP).

But btw, this is Android 5.0 update, right? Have read on android blogs that OF6 has been 5.1 update for T-Mobile Galaxy S6 sets. So..
Okay, it's 5.0.2. Brings Reactivation lock.

no you dont have to update and no it isnt necessary. but if you are on stock OA6 I would take to guess that this rom is 5 months newer with improvements in alot of areas. they claim its for factory reset protection (so someone cant steal your phone and just factory reset it and it theirs now) and for reactivation protection (same thing so noone can reactivate the phone and make it theirs)
if i was on straight stock i would update. if i was on a stock rooted i would either try and root it or wait for someone to root the tar file and make it flashable through recovery.
thats my take on it.
cool... thanks. I like the security features, but at the same time I may wait till the new Moar comes out to do the work.

Yes. In fact, I did a full rom install, with nand erase all (after a bad flash), and I still went back to OA6 and OD3 stock deodexed roms.
Flashing TWRP from Odin works fine after flashing OF6 or OD3. I also used the CF one click root method, and that also worked for me.
Everything I did was in Odin 3.10.6.
Chainfires auto root makes odin complains about the recovery and shows 'fuse>3', which (I assume) means I've already burnt thru three of the 400+ fuses in the phone (kernel, recovery and probably rooting). I've tried odin 3.10.6 and the version that comes with chainfires auto root. Towelroot v3 says my phone isn't supported, even when using the command mod options.
I'll boot back into Windowz and try this a few more times. I don't see/know how joshdv rooted his phone...
edit: let's add insult to injury. I can't downgrade the firmware/OS to OA6, says it fails OS version.

Depends how long you're willing to wait and if you want to keep the warranty bit untripped.
If it doesn't matter, you can still flash custom recovery in odin and any one of the pre-rooted custom or stock roms that will run on the lollipop bootloader.
