Hello, I received a Verizon galaxy s4 for screen repair. After replacing the screen I tested the device and it worked fine. The issue that I encountered was the USB port, I would connect it to the phone and it would not charge it nor would it show up on the PC. I though it could be a faulty USB Port on the device, so I ordered a replacement and replaced it. Yet I still have this issue, even while using a brand new USB port/ribbon/connector. Does not matter if i connected it to a wall charger, car charger, battery charger, or to the computer, it will not read the connection and will not charge or show up in the computer.
I need help in fixing this issue, I really don't know what to try and cant even think of possible things that are causing this. Don't know if this is a hardware issue or software issue.

hi all,
my x10i suddenly stoped charging. It was connected to my pc and I noticed that the LED light is not shinning. Then I tried to charge it from wall adapter and car charger, but with no result.
Sometimes when Im lucky, it connects somehow and charges a while, but my pc wont recognize it.
My question:
Is it a hardware defect?
yeh I want to know the same thing. My phone suddenly stopped charging at all. I tried several different chargers and USB cables, issue remains. Computer wont detect as when USB cable is attached no light on x10a? Can someone help and question remains the same:
Is it hardware related defect?
also how can it be fixed?
It is most likely a hardware problem. The fix requires some soldering work to be done.

USB socket at fault.
Hi,
I've had a problem with the phone out of the box: when the phone is connected to the charger (non Samsung charger) or the USB in the computer, the touch screen bearly responds. I try to use the phone but it's like the touch panel does not respond, or sometimes it responds and some time it doesn't. Once I disconnect the charger, it goes back to being fully functional.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix this? Is there an app in the market to test whether there is a problem?
Gosh, I hope this is not a HW problem..
Thanks.
I'm guessing that the flow of the electricity might be causing interference to the capacitive sensor as I've experienced this a couple of times on my SGS1.
Haven't had this issue though on SGS2.
Some of the HTC Evo 4G phones had a similar issue when it was launched last year. HTC was able to fix it with a software update. But I don't know if your phone ihas the same underlying cause. If it is easy for you to return, you may want to try that rather than waiting for a fix.
I have a Galaxy S1 and had a similar problem. I bought a non samsung usb cable to charge my phone and it caused it to be unresponsive while connected. As soon as I disconnected it, the phone returned to normal. I bought some samsung data cables from ebay and never had the problem since.
A friend of mine had a Blackberry (i think), and used my samsung cable to try to charge his phone in my car. It never worked.....or atleast his phone never said it was charging.
My guess is the cables may have the same connector, but the wiring my be different.
I could be completely wrong though, but this is the experience I had with the original galaxy s
I've had the same problem with the galaxy s 1. No matter what charger I used though charging via usb made it better.
Happens with a lot of phones, Aridoasis above hit the nail on the head.
If you read the manual you will see that it say that that will happen of you are connected to an unstable power source. Which I think will happen when the cable used to charge the phone somehow doesn't match it.
This happens to me when I used a standard micro USB cable to charge it. But goes away when I use my ATRIX's USB power charger

So the other week I was charging my x10 and it was working, then later i noticed the light was off and it has not been able to charge since then. I have replaced the USB port on the motherboard but this didnt solve the problem. Is there any other parts on the phone that commonly fail that I can try replacing? The phone doesnt connect to the computer through any usb cables either.
I don't know if anybody else has had this problem before, but I hope there is somebody out there who can help me with my problem.
Basically, until a few days ago, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 was working fine until I did a reinstall from a backup as I was having a problem with the device due to it running sluggishly slow and crashing every so often.
Now, for some weird reason, the device won't charge at all when the USB cable is plugged into the official USB AC Adaptor and instead all I get is the "MTP Initialization" message that somebody would usually get when connecting the Tab 10.1 to a PC or Laptop.
It seems to charge when hooked up to a laptop very slowly but that's about it.
If there's anybody out there who can help me fix this problem, it would be most appreciated at all (to be honest, I can't wait until I go back to university in September and I can sell this POS and buy a 64GB Transformer Pad Infinity instead!)
EDIT: I've tried another cable and now it's saying that it's MTP-Connected instead of not MTP-Connecting at all!
Bump as I have a feeling that this isn't a one-off problem and that it's affecting a lot of other Tab 10.1's as well...
Never had that issue.
Are you sure your cable is ok?
Having exactly the same problem, no idea how to fix it at all. Looks like it's faulty usb port, because sometimes my laptop 'recognize' the tablet, but it's very rare (don't really know what does it depend on). I'm afraid sending the tablet to service is the only solution .
Try a different charger, different cable and check the port for debris

I've checked the port and there's no debris in it, I've checked the new cable that I've bought and it's already worn through from the look of things at the end with the plug that connects to the device itself.
About a month ago this charging problem started overnight. Using the original wall charger and USB cable, current_max in GCC was about 200mA (instead of 1000mA). Somebody suggested a factory reset, which I did (restored apps and settings with TB). Problem still exists and is getting worse. Till now I was able to unplug and replug the charger a few times to bring it up to 1000mA, but now the current randomly goes down during the charge (esp if I use the phone).
The only thing I haven't tried is replacing the charger or cable, but I don't have another one. Any suggestions? Thanks.
how did you check this? an app?

Yes, used Galaxy Charging Current.

I think it's down to a damaged usb port on the phone. I have pretty much the same thing on my phone since the cable was yanked out of it whilst charging a few months ago. I have several chargers and some are better than others...depending on the cable. I also have issues with connecting to my pc....I have to not touch it otherwise it just disconnects.

But I have no other problem using the USB port apart from this? Is there anyway I can check it? Or shall I just wipe the phone and send it to be replaced?
