With wifi tethering you can share ur data connection with ur gadget or laptop or other device over wifi.

It's like having a mobile accesspoint for other devices that connet to your phone.
Like aimcr7 said, you can share your phones internet connection.
In germany some providers don't allow tethering. It depends on your contract's conditions.
It's a good feature. Yup if you have enough money to pay for telco. What will this feature do?
- Disable Wifi connection
- Enable Data Connection GPRS/3G
- Use the Wifi tuner to broadcast Wifi. Of course, the connection will be GPRS/3G
- Speed? Really fast

OK, new question... Thanks to your help I figured out how to make wifi only downloads over a mobile network.. But now I have a question of is there a way to make the system/apps whatever think that there actually is a wifi connection when there is not? For example, when playing gameloft games, in order to play online you need wifi... Which i do not have. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

I don't know of any way to do that. You could try to use a wifi hotspot app on your phone, start the hotspot, and connect to the wifi from your own device.

I have a Sony Ericsson xperia x10 and can't connect to a open wifi in another country. Like at Mc Donalds it says connected to wifi but it won't download any data. I also have a Motorola atrix and it connects without any problems. Is this a known issue?

1-make sure airplane mode is turned off..
2-try to forget the wifi (talking about Mc'd)- then reconnect
Hope this help

Doesn't work either if you use any external wifi software? e.g: "wifi manager"?
Also, check and be sure that these places doesn't use any host or proxy (just to be sure)
Which ROM has installed? kernel?
Regards
Don't you have to sign I'm for those services?
Open browser and it should take you too McDonald's WiFi cloud website
Enter your mobile number in there and they give you free access
You have to sign up to get access as it's monitored
Hope this helps
If your browser doesn't take you to McDonald's sign in after Conncting, try dolphin browser, it's redirects are way better
Also where I live you can't download anything from market on WiFi cloud
But forums work fine

There is no way you can use 3g internet for free.
WiFi or nothing. Your choice.
To last poster: DroidVPN will use WiFi or 3G to connect to the private network, it has nothing to do with accessing internet. You need internet to connect to internet..doesn't make sense, eh?

No, it is true. They can bypass their network provider billing system, using vpn, ssh tunnel, certain proxy, certain port. By doing that their service provider dont know that they actually using data connection when on the service provider billing system seems like they're not.
But thats a fraud, and disscussing it is agains xda rules, and i just cant stand these cheapskate who can afford a few hundred dollar phone but cant spend a few bucks more for data service.
Hi
