[Q] Modding ROMs for dual-sim support - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all, I want to say that I know CyanogenMod or any other similar ROM doesn't support dual-SIM officially.
There have been many ROMs that support dual SIM, but most of them are just MODDED ONES.
I have read about this in many places, but I don't know how to mod a single SIM ROM to support dual SIM phones.
For details in specific, I own a Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus (Mediatek MT6582 SoC) that uses dual SIM. Sure, there are many Jelly Bean ROMs for my device, but none from popular developers like CyanogenMod, ParanoidAndroid, SlimROMs, etc. I want to port one, but most of the ROMs that suit my criteria as a port ROM don't have dual SIM support. My device has no kernel sources, and so, has only 4.2.2 based ROMs.
So, my question is, HOW DO I MOD A ROM TO SUPPORT DUAL SIM ?

[Q] Best custom rom for my cell??

I want to know which is the best rom for my phone samsung galaxy young s6312. It is a dual Sim device, with 768 mb ram. Does CM support my device? I have heard that CM doesn't support dual Sim devices. Also I want to know if there is a possibility of bricking my device during the process of flashing a rom.
1- no such thing as best rom.
2- yes, currently cm doesn't officially support any dual sim phone. Unofficially someone might have compile cm for any rom.
3- theres always a risk. Don't want risk then use bone stock kernel and rom, don't root.
Unofficial cm is on making.. but the dual sim gsm bug is not getting fixed yet.
Except that, sampath rom version 1.01 is working on both 6310 and 6312

[Q] Custom ROM UI Porting

Hello there.
I recently changed my device from a Xperia X8 to the new LG L4-II (E440), but i noticed that development for these new LG devices is almost nowhere to be seen because of its Mediatek hardware (at least that's what devs complain about)
I used MiniCM10 on the X8 (JB 4.1.2) and noticed that both of these devices have the same resolution (although the LG has a bigger screen), so my question is:
Since both devices have the same resolution, and both Roms are Jelly Bean 4.1.2, is it possible to use the UI files from the custom Rom in Lg's stock rom, (SystemUI, framework-res, stuff like that) without bricking the software?
LG doesn't have a custom recovery and both phones have very different hardware, so porting the Rom for me is out of the question, i'm no developer... but since they have the same resolution, it would be fun to merge some CM flavour into the stock rom.
Thank you guys in advance.

no..bro yu simply cant copy the ui files for another rom...dey wont work... U may end up soft bricking or bootlooping ur device...
Yu must port it for ur device
and another thing yu cant simply port cyanogen from another phone to a mediatek device...it will never work....(may cause hard brick also)
only roms of mediatek can be ported for mediatek devices dat also the chipset should be same (like mt6577 to mt 6577) or (mt 6589 to mt6589) not from (mt6577 to mt6589) and vv
hit thanks rather typing
Anyone can change the UI without root, just install nova launcher, sun beam live wallpaper and a custom notification bar from the play store.
port UI
i want to ask you that i started cooking roms using android kitchen for my s duos.. but i want to know tthat how to port UI of other rom to my rom..

[Q] A custom ROM which can run on android phone OR UNIVERSAL ROM ?

Is there any custom ROM which can run on any android phone
because ROMS like cyanogenmod , carbon ROM , slim ROM , paranoid android , etc. works on specific models of phone.
CAN ANYBODY DEVELOP SUCH ROM FOR UNIVERSAL ANDROID MOBILES
No. ROMs include phone specific code and proprietary blobs. Plus there is an abundance of chipsets so to get a ROM to be universal, all devices would have to be identical. So, no, impossible.

[Q] Any build having Dual-SIM support ?

Does any AOKP 4.2.2 build have Dual-Sim support? I need one to port to my device (Karbonn Titanium S5 Plus, having Mediatek MT6582 chipset) since it has no kernel source and/or AOSP source. It has a Kernel version 3.4.5 and many fully working ROMs based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. If possible, are there any built for a Mediatek MT6582 chipset? If there are, then please provide me with a link to the ROM. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!

[Q] Help needed to port a ROM to a differen phone with same SOC

Hi,
I would like to port the novafusion lollipop rom from Samsung golden (S3 mini) to Samsung skomer (XCover 2). They both use the NovaThor U8500 SOC. There is a kitkat rom for skomer (vanir).
Does this mean I have all the bits available I need for the porting?
Can a kernel be used on different phones with the same SOC?
Is there somewhere a list what has changed in the source from kitkat to lollipop - or can I reuse the device tree from the kitkat skomer rom?
Have I missed the "[GUIDE] Port to another phone with same SOC" thread which answers all my questions - and the next to come ?
Best regards
Daniel
