Questions about phone lock - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I upgraded my phone to Lollipop. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I know I HATE the colors. They are HORRIBLE... I want dark colors... I love black backgrounds with white lettering... not the other way around like it is.. yuck...
Anyways.. I put a Pin lock on my phone for a few but I don't want it locked anymore. I tried to change the phone lock to NONE but the NONE selection is light grey color and I am unable to choose NONE as an option. I included a screenshot. Can someone PLEASE tell me how I can fix this?? Please & Thank You

Do you happen to have an Exchange account set up? I know with my company the policies are to require a password or PIN to unlock the phone.

No I don't have that kind of account.
Does anyone have any help they can offer me for this problem I am having...
Read the 1st post in this topic and it will explain..

You've set something up on your phone that has administrator rights and has disabled a bunch of stuff. Trust me, I know, I have a corporate phone and see the same screen you attached to your post. Check your accounts, delete work email or exchange account...

I have no work email on my phone or exchange accounts. I was always able to choose to not have a lock screen until I upgraded to lollipop.

Do you have FoxFi for tethering? It requires a security certificate to be installed and acts as an administrator on the phone to enforce a modicum of security.
Go to Settings|More|Security Then click on Phone administrators. clear anything that is checked. then reboot the phone and try to remove the lock screen.
Let us know what happens.

I don't have anything installed for tethering. I went to settings/more/security/phone admin... and there is nothing checked.

Two options from a quick Google search. Amazing what you can find.
1. Remove any guest accounts. Verizon/Samsung removed this from our phones, so skip to item two.
2. If that doesn't work, delete certificates.
Settings / Security / Clear credentials - Clear all credentials.

Will deleting the certificates ruin anything on my phone??

No, it's the recommended solution found in a Google bug report thread. They will be restored, but you will, according to what I read, get your lock screen options back.

It worked!! I love u... thank u so much!!

Remove all accessibility services (e.g. Lightflow) from the Android settings. It's a known bug.

Ive heard using go launcher gets around this
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
it was light flow that did it, uninstalled it as i dont wanna use any other launchers, thanks for the help. I there any led notification app i can use that doesn't have this problem?
Not if you have to add them as an accessibility service. Again, this is not Lightflow's fault. Any app added as an accessibility service causes this behavior.

Idk about the handcent app since I rarely use 3rd party SMS apps but I know that in the stock app I can lock them just fine. are you needing to hide them or simply lock them when deleting a whole thread (which to keep your phone running smoothly should be done every 100 or so to keep it from locking up internal space) or what? I'll download the app and see what you mean if you wanna walk me through whatever you're trying to do. i can give you my gtalk if you want my help? I'm sure someone on here might have the same issue as yourself at one point
Sorry for the long reply. I want to lock my messages so anyone can't just go thru them n be in my business. It can be stock or third party. It don't really matter

Exchange mail without security

For some reason none of the regular email apps that have the option to disable the pin lock on the lock screen aren't working for me. But the stock mail app works great but I can't stand the pin lock. Does anyone have an apk that I can flash or push to bypass this? Or could someone direct me in a way to modify the apk myself?

I use enhanced email which uses the web services and thus does not enforce pin requirements.

For some reason enhanced email keeps losing my settings and I have to constantly setup my account. And then tonight after setting it up for the 20th time it wouldn't get any mail. So I downloaded touchdown and it did the same thing... Once I setup the HTC mail it worked great.

But I'm still looking for a way to avoid the pin lock...

Yeah, go look at the info section on the app in play store. It has a link to a loong thread where they explain why... it's actually a bug with the OS. You can sideload the app, or as I did, install it from Titanium backup to make it work properly. Mine is solid.
Is this you trying to get around corp security? I'm using exchange and I don't even have a lock screen

Try this, it works. You'll need to be familiar with using smali/baksmali.

Yes, there is a setting to enforce a lock via password or pin. His admins are using that policy.

Privacy App.

Does anybody know first hand and is able to suggest a good and effective privacy application that can block and keep out unwanted intrusions? I would really appreciate an unbiased feedback...

Hello,
Not sure exactly what type of app you are looking for, but you might look at Smart Lock Free in the Play Store. You can designate all or certain apps to be locked with this app. When someone clicks on a locked app from the drawer they receive what appears to be a Force Close Error. However if you long press the error message you can enter a password to unlock the app. If you hit close on the error message it goes back to the last screen you were at.

I was thinking more in the lines of preventing apps from accessing information on my phone that they do not necessarily need kind of what pdroid does coz I have tried to flash a patch for my rom and I've been getting stuck in a boot loop. So basically I'm looking for something simple I can just plug and play...

[OFFICIAL] 4.3 Update - Changes/Differences/Discussion

Now that the OTA is finally rolling out and people are updating, I think it's a good time for a thread about the differences aside from what's mentioned in the changelog. It'll give a little insight as to what's changed/added.
So feel free to start listing out what's changed!

So can you put emojis with the keyboard or they just show up when someone texts you?

I'm not sure about input but I know they show up like they should be instead of having blank squares. Here's an example from Instagram

Don't notice anything new right off the bat with the camera. It did take a while to update the firmware though. Still have to dig around

Here is a summary of changes I noticed:
UI is smoother than before with no hiccups yet, but that may be a placebo effect.
Notification panel toggles look shorter and waste less vertical space. They cannot be turned off anymore. Now you can only select which ones can be scrolled through horizontally before you have to open the full toggles drawer.
Default font seems to have been updated, though I am not sure whether I was on Samsung Sans beforehand and it simply reset the font.
Upon further inspection, it seems as if my font choice has been reset to default from Samsung Sans.
Camera firmware update, but I don't immediately see any changes.
When viewing photos in gallery or camera app, the date taken is shown briefly on the bottom left.
GPS location and Verizon location services have been merged into one option, it is no longer possible to disable Verizon location services if you want to use GPS.
Blocking mode, reading mode added.
Wifi notification can be disabled.
Play store updated to new sliding drawer, version 4.4.2.1 (this may have just been a coincidentally simultaneous update on my part).
There is a link in the app drawer to install KNOX, which looks like some sort of secure VM based on the text in the app.
NFL Mobile added (may have been in MI1 and I just didn't notice, but it is in my app drawer).
Contacts list is more compact (white space removed), you can now see approx. 9 contacts at a time. There is no scroll bar anymore, and the letters to quickly jump through the list are permanently visible.
Wifi location polling when wifi is off (as per Android 4.3).
Calculator is fullscreen (no status bar) with no way to change it, pretty sure this didn't happen before.
The stock music player can now play the mp3 files I have saved on the device. It always said that the files were unsupported beforehand, and I did not change them at all.
The dialer doesn't seem to lag as much when looking up contacts as you type (666 for "MOM"), but this might have come with the overall UI. It also doesn't lock up the phone for half a second when initiating a call anymore.
With Air View on, a few of the options in Developer Options are highlighted when hovering over them (not sure where this came from or why it is there, maybe testing for their 4.4 build, but I noticed it when going through the settings).
Clock app UI updated.
"Disable" in application manager is renamed to "Turn off."
That is all I can see immediately. I do not use stock launcher, keyboard, browser, or email so I did not check these.
Just quick question for those that got it, one of you said your font got reset did ajuthing else reset or get wiped?

I'm sure sbreen will add it eventually, possibly with version 11?
Developer Option Reset
There is a bug with the new camera. I have all the animation and transitions set to off in developer options. Transition animation scale gets set to 1x every time the camera is launched. Super annoying.
Thanks for such a complete changelog!
Google Play updated on my VzwGS4 4.2.2 ME7 and now has sliding drawer.
