Hi,
I'm just a RPi2 user and I discover something really interesting for Raspberry Pi series, specially for not expert people!
There is a useful tool called Berryboot that allow to easy install many Operating Systems on the MicroSD of the Raspberry.
If you are interesting in Berroboot, you can download it here: BerryBoot official website
Here a video of BerryBoot in action:
https://youtu.be/oTrk-nbJQBA
You can find many videos on YouTube. :good:
Thanks button is easy to click.

How can I update OpenELEC in BerryBoot?
It does download the update, but it does not install the update.

I don't know, I enabled AUTO Update in configuration panel.
The other point is: how to overclock OpenELEC under Berryboot?
Did it update yours when enableling "auto update" ?
Mine just download the update, but fails to install. Probably because it registred that it has "wrong" kernel.
I did try to manually replace the system image as suggested in OpenElec forum, but it does not boot then.
I have the same issue. I want to update Openelec 5.0.3 to latest beta 5.95...but neither auto or manual work....with Berryboot, it seems to lock the kernal some how.
I want to multi boot between Openelec, RetroPie, and one or more other OS's....but berryboot seems to be problematic with updating them. I tried NOOBS but I could not get it to boot to any OS at all. Any other multiboot loaders or suggestions?

There is an open question on BUG Managermen of BerryBoot project:
- Update Openelec on BerryBoot (rasp pi 1) #151
What's the advantage of this over http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506306?

I think BerryBoot is better because:
- It is automated, no terminal command line required
- One MicroSD with ALL Operating Systems, no need of USB storage devices..
- Boot and install every pre-compiled OSs available
- You can compile your "personal" version of any ARM OS and boot in berryboot
... plus it's really easy to use. like the script variant mentioned before in form of a link, you can use usb for the whole os which delivers more stability if you overclock the pi where sd cards don't like that and your os get damaged over time in an overclocked environment.
BerryBoot 2 on Raspberry Pi2 w/ Kali and Adafruit 3.5 LCD
Hi, I have Berryboot running a few distro's including Kali. However the small LCD screen doesn't seem to work when using Berryboot.
I tried getting the LCD to work many times w/ Berryboot and can't seem to get it to work.
Anyone else try this?

Does anyone know where there is a repository for Raspberry Pi2 / Berryboot (Squashsf) distros? Converting them seems like a pain.

The official berryboot images that are used for the network setup are available on sourceforge, but are quite outdated.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/berryboot/files/os_images/
I found the process of converting the official images to squashfs not too tiresome using virtualized Linux Mint. However, some distros, like the latest version of Ubuntu Mate and OSMC are not compatible with berryboot. Having wasted some hours, I can say that squashfs limits some OS features (eg. updates, partition behaviour) and performance. On the whole, if you are serious about doing something on each of the distros, then the best approach is to use separate SD cards for each distro, convenient and offers full OS functionality. Otherwise, berryboot is a good way to just check out the various OS available, provided it is compatible with squashfs.
Thank you so much for the reply. Ya, considering the limitations, I think I'll just stick with individual SD cards.. It was more out of convenience... But I am constantly updating and changing something, so prob not best method. Thanks

Hello,
Using RPi2. This works on my 16GB Samsung SD works fine but it won't work on my Sony 64GB. I can use "Image Writer" to write a bootable image to the 64GB SD and works but for some reason I can't get the BerryBoot to boot. I used SDFormatter and confirmed it's FAT32. Any one having similar issues?
Thx

I have made a build environment in VMWare. I have added all necessary programs to the Gnome menu. I spent a good 6 hours on making this and compressing this.
Before you use the VMWare image change RAM and CPU to your needings. I suggest at least 2GB RAM and 2 cores assigned for decent performance.
I have also enabled 3D acceleration for OpenGL developers or those who want to try making games.

I would highly recommend each user and ESPECIALLY new users go through the process of setting up and configuring their own development environment. You will gain a lot of understanding on how Linux and thus Android operates by working with it yourself, and this really is important. This is great for a experienced dev who wants to have a backup of his own environment, but I think it's just adding one more crutch that the newbies really won't understand.
Password is 'root'
I thought this was a nice and obvious password to use. Sorry for letting you wait.

It's much more stable using VMWare. Many systems have trouble downloading the source code. Virtual Box gets the 'HTTPS ... not received' errors. Honestly I don't know how to say the error accurately because I simply skipped Virtual Box due to that issue

These issues are simple configuration mishaps and can be fixed easily. Nat tends to do this, I use a bridged nic. There are also a few kernel values you modify to fix any "download errors". I have never experienced any issues like you are suggesting using virtual box.

Kernel Source
Hi,
I'm new to android development.
I know that every ROM will have a Linux kernel, but where does this kernel come from?
I googled it, but I still can't figure it out.
I'll just take a wild guess.
Is it from
1. The source that you git from? (Ex: AOSP, CM10, AOKP)
2. The kernel of the Linux OS? (Ex: This VM's Linux kernel)
and by the way, am I able to change the kernel myself? (Ex: 2.6.35 to 3.0.8)
Thanks!

You get the kernel source from your device manufacturer.

Don't have a mirror, but why don't you just download a Linux ISO and set it up for yourself? Should be smaller downloads the whole way, everything will be up to date, and you'll get invaluable learning experience.:

How to update ?
I have this installed as a dual boot.
How do I safely update to the new version ?
Do I have to replace just certain file's or everything ?
If only certain file's, which one's ?

Hi Remix team, thanks for sharing this update .
I have to say that I was expecting too much improving or , at least , much detail about that "minor bugs" , but I know that every step is important in achieving a good and stable product .
Time ago , I have asked to Jide for becoming a tester for Remix OS PC , but .... no answer , I hope this time I will get a positive answer from this team .
battery indicator , was really an important issue, great work !!

The question is: how to safely update to latest version?
And in the installer, just press TAB and write "INSTALL=1" and ENTER to install in NTFS or EXT4 to have all space you want.

Can you post a list of Gapps included? I am particularly interested in Google Exchange Services.
I'm gonna try this since I haven't tested the 32b setups but question, would you by any chance know if the OTA updater is still working after all your fixes? Or would you know a few tricks to get it to work on an ssd installation. For some reason I was able to do it on USB setups but I can't for the life of me get it to update on my Main desktop and I've reinstalled and reconfigured all kinds if things for the last week or so trying to get it to install and actually update...thanks either way.
Thanks, this is how Jide should release it - fully rooted and setup.

As you've said it is still beta, so lets hope they will fix those many issues.
And sure I like your version, It has every thing I need preintalled and ready to go
Very good work, keep it up :good:

It seems pretty nice, however the is an inaccuracy at the end.
VLC works without any problems on all of them(including video), you just need to install the x86 version, rather than ARM or ARM64.
And Firefox has issues on all of them(although I can't remember what they were, perhaps with the virtual keyboard).
Thank you for your comments. I was not aware that there was an x86 version, but found it and tried to install it. It did not install for me on Android-x86-6.0-r1 or on PhoenixOS-1.1.0, but it did install on RemixOS-3.0.204. Howevever, still no video. Any ideas?
As to Firefox I have not been missing the virtual keyboard, as I am using my PC's hard keyboard.

Sorry, perhaps the VLC issue is due to the PC's setup, I don't have any dedicated GPU, only using Intel's integrated solutions.
As to Firefox, I also use the hardware keyboard, not having a touch screen, however on Remix OS, I cannot set the language of the hardware keyboard to languages other than English (and perhaps also on Android-X86, I don't remember).
What about Cyanogenmod x86 version?
Also.. Spmc for x86 works better then off kodi from gmarket in my experience
And If you Google.. then you can find the ISO versions of PhoenixOs
Cheers, and thanks for showing the difference between versions

I have not had the time to check out CyanogenMOD, since my time is pretty limited, due to studying and searching for a job.
By the way, I am a noGoogler, so I generally remove GAPPS from whatever rom I use.
Have the same problem on RemixOS - resetting the keyboard language does not change it - it stays with English.

The exe is a self executable zip so you can open it like an iso with an archive manager / 7zip
Source 4pda.ru

Hi,
Anyone install dual boot windows yet? I tried using QEMU but it runs really slow and not really useable.
Thanks.

AFAIK no one has done it yet with significant success.
Even if successful, hardware has to be shared or better splitted for two different systems. So performance will surely be decreased.

I really don't know, as I do not own this device myself and am not interested in dual boot option.
Pre-requirements would be to implement a dual boot feature to boot system(s) from different partitions.
I could not find such a feature implemented for your device yet.
