Hello tech android people,
noob on Android ... but have read a lot in this forum (THANKs guys !) ... and have done some "few" things on UNIX systems in my younger days
My phone : I9300 (with VTU00M revision 0xf1 eMMC)
Current state :
- ICS 4.0.4
- root (CF-Root-v6.4)
- using CWM for nandroid backup/restore
- ExynosAbuse-v1.30.apk
Wished state :
- still root
- SDS fix !
- Exynos security fix (ExynosAbuse-v1.30.apk would be sufficient but why not use Sam fix ?)
- stock ROM , stock kernel (in a first time), a custom recovery
- NOT a boring bootloader (as the new stoke one)
What I intend to do (please Senior members/Developpers correct me if am wrong) :
- Flash I9300XXELLA_I9300OXXELL1_LUX.zip with Mobile Odin Pro (to avoid the bootloader and still have root)
- Flash PhilZ Touch 4.00-b04 (Has SDS fix) with PC Odin .
Waiting for Senior member/Developper 's confirmation or correction ...

There's a new ELLC fw but youare correct, these are the steps you should follow.

Only Samsung knows because they don't release changelogs. But it is newer revision, as the last letter indicates.

Yes I understand but seems not possible to download each new ROM ... and Im not sure about CSC issue with ELLC ...?

Yes it is possible, and fairly easy too. CSC won't cause any issues unless you use Samsung's Kies software.

i have to downgrade to 4.4.4 from 5 - it's too laggy...
Tried to downgrade from French version Lollipop to my own country version Kitkat, result as a bootloop... trying again with Odin, I hope it will not bootloop anymore.
Surely this phone is cool enough to ROM?

Where did you download the French ROM from, I'm guessing it supports English right? I have found SOOO many fake sites boasting to have the 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 ROMS, I swear!

I got it from Sammobile. 5.0.2 FR
any site talking about custom ROMs for A7 are all fake.
Sammobile is definitely the legit respository of all the firmwares of the Samsung lines.

I would like to try flash lollipop onto my galaxy a7 but I have the korean version and can only find the french firmware online. Can I do this or will it damage my phone.

You can goto sammmobile anytime and download the french latest ROM (A700FXXU2BOG1_A700FXEF2BOG3_XEF 5.0.2 )from there any time. Hopefully you are all smiles

Mine isn't rooted, just loaded the French 5.02 via Odin.
Got an update ota today.
The phone is just as laggy as it was with 4.4.4 and the prev Lollipop... Not worse, not better..

These are all official firmwares, so no worry about that.
I've been trying to download since last night, those servers they use suck big time. Lots of crashes.
Is there any noticeable difference in this ? I know it Lollipop but is it no big deal ?

Hey, generally sites that host firmwares tend to be quite ****ty so i guess it would be better if you did a Google search of the firmware you want to download . When I tried to download the french lollipop update from sammobile host I was getting ultra low download speeds so I searched the firmware name and went to another site that had better bandwidth to download. I just haven't installed the update yet as I want to be sure that it can get rooted. Sadly I cannot provide any links for you atm cause I am not home but when I'll get the chance I will pm you .

I used Odin3_v3.10.7 , and it worked great with the previous 5,02 (2015-08-01) from sammobile

No, I have the A700YD, it's a HK model. I figure that's the problem. The crazy part is that my model isn't even listed in the SamMobile firmware site.

I recently purchased a gear s off ebay, turns out it originated from Korea I think. (SK Telecomm) Gear works great other than the mobile network. I looked around and found out mobile networks over there are on a different frequency than here in Canada. Question is, can I root this with a Canadian firmware to get the mobile network working? I checked Sammobile for canadian firmware but there was nothing there for.

You can just make sure it's the same variant.
ofcourse it is J500FN but im afraid that like service wont work, idk if the device is locked only to my carrier but if it wont brick the device i will definitely try it

im from czech but i flashed poland firmware without branding works perfect now i waiting for root and twrp for marshmallow on FN

i tried italian version aswell, and it worked just fine out of the box (well i had to delete 1 file in the firmware to get it to install) but it works fine! but now imma jump back to 5.1.1 and update it from the phone itself cuz other people from bulgaria told me that there is an update for bulgaria, it just isnt in sammobile
i tested marshmallow and i think lolipop is better smooth speed and ram managment is for me lolipop is better
Downloading it now we have been waiting for months now, I had to uninstall many apps to download it though
Download and install Poland firmware, everything works well !

I have one more question for you: is this method super safe for my phone? I'm just coming back from a brick (due to my mistakes) when I was on lollipop and now I'm a bit afraid to root again. Is this method tested and working 100%? Thank you for your patience!

Yes. That's how I did when I tried Marshmallow. Other people did same as well.
You root the same way on Lollipop.

Check if you have the correct APN : Settings> Mobile networks > Access Point Names (APN).

I do not believe that the APN is the problem i used the same setting on the CyanogenMod 13 rom and there it did work :/
