I've just bought a couple of Takee 1 smartphones from China, and for 2 days I've tried to root them and install Google playstore. It is an Android phone but has a "skin" on the android system (4.2.2). It is quite annoying as I can download apk apps from internet and they start, but then I am getting message that they require Google appstore to run them.
The phone is amazing , very well made, fast and their 3D technology is brilliant. ( You don't need glasses and the way it works is it has a professional eye tracking camera which allows the smartphone to track the eyes of the user. Eye tracking data is sent back to the phone and then the eye tracking system will transmit one image to the right eye and one to the left eye respectively, this enables you to appreciate the 3D holographic effect from different angles).
Phone has a 3D holographic App market for 3D games and 3D movies... All of 3D stuff is in English, but for normal apps you have to use their own "T market" and it's all in Chinese... =(
I am really fed up with all the Baidu apps and want to use Google playstore and Google Chrome. I can install them from the internet but the App crashes all the time.
I've done quite a lot of research in last 2 Days including this forum. I understood that I need to root my device, I've been able to turn on Developer mode on the phone as well. Another problem is I am using Mac so its not really a lot of software to root your phone easily.
I've tried rooting my phone with apk's like towelroot and couple of others but they didn't work as I checked "Root checker"on my phone.
Can anyone please help me with this?

I found in ebay a seller, See what it says in the ad :
"We flashed our "International ROM" to the phone before we ship out. It supports Multi-language and "Google Play Store".If don't flash, the phone can't support multi-languages (except Chinese and English), Google Play Store can't be installed".

Update: I found them. I have a couple of these. Seem basically sound phones, using MTK6589 quad core, dual SIM, 4G ROM, 512Mb RAM,
Google play and services is absent from the default install, which has a lot of Chinese-centric apps. eg, a Chinese-only opera web browser.
It is easy to root using Kingo android root.
The default software makes this otherwise reasonable phone look rather tacky, and misses so much functionality westerners expect from the (missing) Google infrastructure.
I'd like a vanilla android for this with gapps, etc..
LOVE this phone.. lot of china and russian roms works great and some won't connect to wifi so try them out and use chrome browser to translate. Pretty easy to put custom rom.

I'm not new to the rooting scene - I've rooted practically every Android device that I've ever owned. However I can not, for the life of me, find any documentation at all on the interwebs about rooting the LG Google TV running Android 4.2.2. Towelroot and other root apps did nothing for me, sadly.
The reason for rooting is that I want to purchase Lightpack, an awesome TV backlighting system that can work with rooted Android devices to backlight the TV and effectively "extend" the screen (Google it for more info - XDA will not allow me to post outside links since my account is new). The app is installed on my TV just fine, but the issue is that Lightpack cannot enter "screen grab mode" without root, which is the mode where the lightpack updates in real time with the colors of whatever is on the screen, hence the whole point of purchasing it.
Has anyone been successful in rooting the LG Google TV? Here are my specs:
Android 4.2.2
Model no 47GA6400-UD
47" LG branded "Google TV" - once again cannot provide URL because I am below the post limit. Google the model no for more info.

Sweet! I got my LG Google TV rooted! I used Cydia Impactor over Wi-Fi and then installed the SuperSU APK manually - worked like a charm. Now I can buy Lightpack and it will work!

Wish I could post a tutorial for those other LG Google TV users out there waiting for root - I can't post it yet because XDA is disallowing images and links in my posts until 10 posts.

I did, actually! Without huge knowledge of Android. I didn't find a guide specific to LG Google TV, but I found something on the web and did the equivalent of SSH into the TV over WiFi and pushed the root to the TV remotely. Unfortunately even with root, Lightpack's lazy devs never got screen capture working fully. It bogs the TV resources down so badly that the TV won't even shut off, have to unplug it.
So good news and bad news. Rootable but useless for Lightpack screen capture. Other root stuff works though.

Thanks for posting the apk. I installed it and got the two movies yesterday. No interest in watching them, but you can't beat a free movie.
Hi, I have recently purchased a Xiaomi laser projector. I like it a lot. It has the same menu as Chinese version of xiaomi mi box. The problem is that the projectors menu is in Chinese as well. Does anyone here knows someone who participates in building these roms so I can ask them??

I am interested in buying this projector too, I saw an YouTube video saying there was a software that you can install to alter the setup setting so that there are in English. If you have not already seen them, I may try to play around with the android version however it may just be easier to attach it to another box such as the android shield TV and use it that way instead of killing yourself with Chinese apps and trying to upgrade Android.
It's pretty easy to change to English and install any app you want. I installed YouTube but you can't sign into an account due to no Google services pre installed. It's super responsive and great picture quality. It would be awesome if someone has a chance to make a rom for it or work out a way to get the play store and a launcher to run on it
I have exactly the same problem.
Although you can install an app to change the language to English, 95% of the ROM is still in Chinese.
This device is not even listed in XDA-developers long list of devices. I am not sure how many developers will spend 1500+$ to buy, develop and test roms on this projector.
It would be great to have an international ROM based on Android TV similar to the Mi Android Box.
Meanwhile, I connect my chromecast to the projector and it works just fine. Of course, this means that I am not using any of the "Smart" functionalities of the device.

You could try aptoide tv which is a play store alternative , you may need to side load it.
Unfortunately I do not have this device to try and create a ROM and I have never created one.
I get the impression its not that hard, I would just make a backup of the exiting Android should things go bad and then try Lineage OS which you can download for free. If I am not being clear I am talking about using a custom ROM with the latest Android Lineage OS.. I did this on an old Kindle tablet and had no issue. Well maybe I am not being completely truthful my first attempt at flashing I almost bricked the device, it took at lot of nerve and patience to make it work. Normally the update should work via the USB with downloaded FW. So if Xiaomi publish the update we can give it a try. The question is whether the FW will check the region or any other thing before installation?

There may be some hope for your request as on Oct 06, 2018 a user @servo386 was able to use abd and TWRP (loaded but not installed) to make a Nandroid copy of his v01 ROM (Chinese version). A few users have encouraged him to post on XDA. He is currently refining the process and trying to install Magisk for full root.
You need to be aware that the Android Oreo full English ROM, for this projector, has some draw backs. One of the biggest is that Xiaomi Oreo likely did a rush software job as they have dropped some very important projector specific settings/functionality. Primary to a lot of users is that 3D is no longer an option and that color correction controls are lacking between the two ROMS. On the other hand you do get working Google Playstore integration.
Also despite the recent success of @servo386 no TWRP nandroid backup of the Oreo version currently exists nor has the method used by @servo386 been tried by a Oreo Mi PJ owner. It's still encouraging news though.

My international Projector has Android 8. I have problems with DTS and Dolby on the AVR. Here only stereo arrives. Whether Netflix, Plex, Media Server ... Sometimes restarts help. With another Android TV box directly on the AVR it works flawlessly. That is very disappointing.

Here is a more active forum with many owners of this projector both the V1 and V2 (international) models. You are likely to have better luck with that forum's thread. This one is more oriented to modding the projector's OS than Home Theater related experiences such as your describing. At the very least the owners can tell you if they have similar experiences or not.

yeah, you need to do at least one EMUI update to get the Microsoft Translator. I got it after my phone notified me of the first update. The second EMUI update adds live wallpapers and the Amazon video app (which I uninstalled immediately).
I haven't received a second one yet... When did it happen?

Hi, I'm from the Microsoft Translator engineering team in "sunny" Seattle, WA.
If the event you don't have the app installed (or removed it unintentionally) in theory you should be able to just go to the Huawei store (not Google play as we can't put two versions of the app there) and re-install it.
However, after I saw this post we went to check and realized it's not there. We're talking to our Huawei engineering partners soon and hopefully it will be fixed shortly. Then, if the Huawei store detects it's a Mate 10 or Honor view 10 it will automatically send you the IA-build. Other Huawei phones will get the "vanilla" version that has all the same features but the NMT offline translations packs, just regular SMT ones (still probably the best on the market based on our internal testing from last year!).
Note: All cloud translations as AI (well, for supported NMT languages!), it's only when you're offline and for the dozen NMT offline pack (easy to know which ones: they're 1/2 the size of the non-NMT ones, 100MB instead of 200MB) that you'll use the Kirin processor accelerated translations.
Note 2: if you had it on the phone, and I know it's kind of brute force, you can factory reset your phone and it should come back.

No, it's the default one, without offline NMT support. If you're online it makes absolutely no difference though.

You will know if you have the Huawei version as you will see the Huawei logo on the bottom of the splash screen.

Other tip: the icon is slightly different. The standard app has as "a" and a Japanese character in the icon. The Huawei version has a "a" and a Chinese character.

no, only text translation offline
For me it doesn't work anymore. It always says "can't translate this" no matter what I point my camera on. Also text gets the same error immediately after opening the menu even before typing in text. Same for voice
