my z2 D6502 (on stock rom 5.0.2 not rooted yet) is charging slowly.it takes 2 hours and hlaf to full charge..is that normal?can i use S5 2 amp charger without any problem ?
As I know this is normal
My Z2 D6503 takes between 2.5 - 3 hours to charge
I contacted Sony for that and send my phone to them but they said nothing with my phone
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
yes thats fully normal, i takes around 180 Minutes to charge from 2% to 100% with the official EP880 1.5A charger.
You can use a 2A charger but i probably wont charge much faster.
Its normal
Btw this whole forum gets messed up with threads like this and everyone allowed with it because no one report useless threads and i am just curious where the Moderators are -__-"

Hi guys,
My phone is on UAE official
Just updated from ics to jb using kies and the charging is taking forever like 7% per hour
While on charge if im using the phone it actually is decreasing the battery instead of charging.
Checked using the current app the charger is supplying 1amp tried various cables and chargers etc and same
Would I need to factory reset or wipe cache after an official update.
By the way on ics charge time is perfect so not hardware fault.
Any reply would be great
Cheers

Been said in several other threads that this can happen if the phone wasn't on 100% when upgraded - maybe it removes battery stats. Apparently after the first full slow painful charge its reverts back to normal. I guess its trickle charging so not to damage the battery. Say battery was 50% when updated - it thinks this is full charge - once you do actually fully charge it the phone then re-learns the actual full battery in stats and is ok.
Not sure if this is 100% or not though, i made sure i was fully charged when i updated last night.
All you can do is try and see if its back to normal after a long lengthy first full recharge
Yes that could be the case due to updating at around 85 percent.
Thanks for the great info
What explains the charge decreasing while on charge on use ??
Anyone ??

Ok so I changed the original charger that has the usb input with the extension cable. This is the 1amp charger the red led looked dim using this on JB rom
Now I used the 500ma output direct wall charger with no usb input all in one charger and the red led is full bright like ICS rom and now charging while using phone and charge rates are back to normal
anyone know how to fix usb charger thinking its not AC more like charging from pc usb ??
Cheers

I don't know what really is happening but my phone started to charge reeeeeallly slow in the last two days. ( I got JB over the air a few days back).
It's for example charging right now and as soon as I start to use it while charging, the battery percentage goes DOWN.
I never had this before. On ICS I was able to easily get through 2 days (I mostly have power saving feature on, since everything works great even in power save mode).
What the hell is happening here.

I used to have this problem, too. I fixed it by turning my phone off and letting it charge to 100%. After that, it would charge and discharge as expected again.
I have the same problem,
But I have a temporally solution , I charging my mobile with my old charger for galaxy s2 ( which is direct to wall ) , it will charge fast as ICS rom before ( 1-100% 2:20 mnts)
I think there is a problem in JB rom, the mobile thinking the original charger (with extension USB cable) it is charging from computer ... so it is really really slow , plus it is not charging after 90%
any how .. the mobile charging well when it is off.!!!
This my experience
Yes like you im using direct charger 500mA and its charging while I use phone and I get full charge from 10% to 100% in about 2 hrs and 50 mins
For a second I thought I was the only one with this issue turns out many of you guys noticed this problem aswell
thanks for the all the input

Hello everyone,I would like to ask you guys about Samsung S3 charging rate which can be considers either slow, moderate or fast.
Well I think my device has slow charging rate, lets say it dropped to 15% of battery,it takes me about 5-7 hours to fully charge.
I have searched via Google, slow charging rate seems like a common issue to S3 owners, yet none of those results show the time taken to charge.
I would like to listen to your experience,as not everyone would charge their device as same as my battery value,so please leave your reply from any value (you think) to fully charge and how long it takes.
Thank you very much, each of your reply is appreciated.
Are we talking USB charging or AC charging here?
Sv: Average Charging Hours
Yesterday it took 2 hours to charge 55% with the ac adaptor.
Skickat från min GT-I9300 via Tapatalk 2
Max 3 hours to fully charge (0 to 100%) via AC charger.

Remember charge times are going to be affected by battery condition/apps running /syncing etc so a rough answer is really all you can hope for
zero to 100% average time 3Hours .
jje
Average time around 3 hours but not with the Samsung charger, With the Samsung charger I get around 4 to 5 hours and as far as I know I am not the only one. I measure the output from the Samsung charger and I get 4.7 volts. In a way that could explain the long charging hours for the Sami charger.
2 to 2 ½ hours from 5%~15% to 100%, no mobile data, no wifi, no apps running.
~3hours with normal setup. I normally get 1.5~2% standby drain, if that's any help in comparing battery charge rate..

2.5 - 3 hours, from 2% - 100% using the stock charger and USB cable. There is an app in the general forum which tells you at what mAh the phone is charging. Ensure that you're charging at 1000mAh and the charging will be faster.
Edit: Here is the app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36124435
Make sure to read the entire thread to get an idea of the charging current. It's not too long.

The supplied charger is rated at 1.5A (amp).
A 2 Amp charger will be a bit quicker, if you can get hold of one. For example, I use my son's iPad charger (rated at 2A) to charge my tablet. It's a bit quicker.
Sony should have supplied a more powerful charger. Shame.
I was just about to create a thread for this same issue. I just got my tablet and this is going to be the second time I charge it. I use my Xperia ZL charger since they are the same but the tablet takes forever to get to 100%. My old Asus TF300T reaches 100% in just a little more than 1 hour.
Truely takes a long time to charge. But I guess a higher mAh charger would damage the battery?

No, using a higher mAH charger will not damage the battery.
genSCL conveyance
Higher mAH will maybe not damage directly Battery but i think the maximum possible loading Cycles is higher by loading not so quickly....
not so warm by loading > less stress for Akku
A bit more information :
Connected to the more powerful iPad charger, my Tablet Z went from 44% to 78% in 2 hours, so about 17% per hour.
If you assumed that rate applies at all levels of charge, then 0% to 100% would take about 6 hours.
Now the iPad charger is about 33% more powerful than the Sony one...so for 0 to 100% with the Sony charger would be near 8 hours.
UPDATE: Forgot to mention - the above is with the device powered on, with screen off and WiFi on. So it should be better with the device completely off. ( I'm using a custom 4.3 ROM which has a bug which means I can only charge with power on at the moment.)
Hello guys, I have a question , I've bought my new Z2 D6503 for a week, I charge it with EP880 charger (Input ~250mA) + EC803 cable from 1% to 100% about 3h30m, but in my country, people have EP880 charger with 300mA Input and take only 3h10m to full charge so I borrow their charger and test with my phone, it takes around 3h20m, so are my charger (250mA) and charging time normal ?
Thank you for reading, please help me, I'm very worried about it
I dont actualy know but with basic math we can
Sony standard charger-
1500mAh
2:20hrs avg charging

Thks for your reply, but 2:20hrs from 1% to 100%, are you serious ? @@, if you get a look at the info in your charger, at Input line, you will see 100-240V~250mA or 300mA depend on your market, I can post 2 kind of the same EP880 with different input current if you want to check, I aslo see the revew from phonearena, they took 212m~3h32m to charge it full, but I don't know what kind of charger they used. But do you think there is a different charge time between 2 same phone, ex. D6502 and D6503 ?
Sr for my bad English, cheers!

Hm... maybe yours has QC 2.0 so you can reach nice time like that .
So can you tell me, with 2 kind of charger above, which one I should use ? And does the charger time around 3h30m prove that my charger is still good ? Or maybe cable problem ? Because max current pull in my phone with both of them only 1100mA, no more
Hi dear v10 users. im here with a veird question again.
I was looking my FB group about v10 and some 1 Claims that: He was charging phone around 45 mins till some 1 use his charger to charge some other phone. since then his phone charging around 90 mins. . And yes i got same stuation. My phone charging around 90 mins and yes some 1 used my charger also. so that can be true ? 0o ?? if our original charger get used by some 1 else does it effect charging speed? btw it still says " fast charging " during charge.
Ty for answers.
Idk but my V10 doesn't charge NEARLY as fast with the stock charger as the Qualcomm Quick Charge compliant charger I have in my car. I've tested other phones on it too. Nexus 6 for example, it'll charge at a nice fast steady rate while I'm using the phone. If I perform the same scenario with the V10, it'll hardly move 1%. Real talk. Idk what the issue is.

I came from the nexus 6 myself. Not only was I disappointed when I noticed there appeared to be a noticeable difference in charging time but I didn't understand why. Here's what I know, the v10 utilizes quickcharge technology however it only activates when the main screen is off/dormant. Unlike the N6 that quickcharges regardless. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...?

Well i have given my charger many times to different people and did not see such behavior. About the screen on/off - i can't comment because when i charge the phone i usually don't use it anyway but it does not seem too logical. If you use the phone during charge it will have much higher consumption than when sitting on your desk so it is normal charge to take longer time this way.
