I was wondering if there was any support for a note 1. I have an old android version of 4.0.4 on my phone. is there a new version on line? If so how do i go about installing it on my phone.
My phone has been running a little slowly these days.
Thanks Mike

You are in the correct forums. Yay. Last stock for this device was 4.1.2 Jellybean. However there is a bazillion custom Roms that have been developed for this device up to and surpassing this version. Every individual phone behaves slightly different...keep this in mind. There were Telus, Bell wireless, Rogers and AT&T versions of original firmware available on this phone, possibly others. Most customs will likely work though. There are different methods which can be found in these forums of rooting your device and installing a custom recovery with which you can flash custom Roms. Have fun. Read lots and Google is your best friend. The community here can also be very helpful.

Your status 7 on gapps means you were using an outdated recovery. This may very well have been your issue. Though you switched to new cwm, you could have upgraded your twrp to gimmeitorilltell's 2.8.0.0 and you likely would have had no problem.

Where are you located?
Is your tab wifi only?
If there's an update available for your model but you can't get it yet via OTA, you should
be able to get it using Kies (you'll have to do a reset on the tab first).
You can also flash it using Odin (again, IF there's an update available for your model. If there is,
you should be able to get the file from the sammobile site).

Like the previous post said, just install a custom ICS rom. They will run better than Samsung's stock ICS anyway. Most of them should be stable. There are also a couple of Jellybean roms available and running just as good as ICS.

I've been having just this discussion with Samsung, and following a long phone call to Mobile Support they have said that they have no plans for the ICS upgrade for Baseband Version P7500XXKL3. Or put another way, despite spending full price of £659 for the 64gig 3G vesion last year, we can get stuffed zs they have our money.
I find that attitude galling as my sons P7510 was updated ages ago......
Contact Mobile Support and make a lot of noise, and then maybe they will sort out whatever problem they have with the modem firmware and we'll get an update.
I would do a custom ROM but I'm worried I'll screw the Tab up and brick it
Well, I think flashing some of the custom rom is the easiest solution for Your question. If You follow the guidelines how to do it, I
think there's no real threat of damaging Your tab. But of course the choice is Your's...

There are Samsung Stock P7500 ICS ROMS for Italy, Baltics, Turkey and India over at samsung-updates.com. I doubt that they would stop there and never carry on for the rest of the countries. These were released in July and August.

Just make sure you flash a ROM for the correct version of tablet and you should be fine. So far as I can tell, basically all of the ROMs are for 75xx tablets so you should be fine.

If it is a UK board, you "should" be able to upgrade. Depends on such a large number of things, mentioned in quite a few threads in this forum. But if it is "standard" UK P7500, then it could be rooting, non-official ROM, and so on...
The sammobile/samfirmware site mostly has the latest and greatest. If you do not see it there, it just is not available yet (mostly, Canada is excluded there, BTW).

p7500XXKL3 GALAXY
HI guys, i too have the following model- P7500XXKL3 and am desperate to upgrade my tab to ICS.
Can anyone tell me where to download the upgrade?
Alright, I'm a noob...(loved the intro video!) and I've spent an hour or so searching for rooting info for my device. Did find a good thread that was over a year old about rooting SGH-i777 with older android versions, but was afraid to follow THOSE directions since mine has newer version (Android 4.0.4). And I find other threads about rooting other versions of GS2...not the AT&T.
So far I've learned NOT to use ROM Manager, and not to look to Galaxy2Root for help...so I guess there's that. I don't want to be stupid here, but can someone direct me to a thread with Rooting instructions for my phone with ICS already on it, and recommended ROMs. I'd like to have more control over my phone and take advantage of JB releases that seem to be out with good reliability. I'm used to doing this sort of thing on computers, but not with Android. Had my phone for about 15 mos....my first Android.
Suggestions?
TIA...

This is so far easiest thing to do, however be careful, DO NOT, DO NOT,
choose the "one click" patch option which come first, as that will patch
the system and you will NOT be able to root again. and there is NO way
to un-patch. I was not being careful and now trapped.

Appreciate the suggesting. Been researching ExynosAbuse, and looks like it could cause camera not to work, and in the compatibility list, though the Galaxy Sii 9100 is listed, the SGH-i777 is not...seems like a concern to me.

I am also a noob when it comes to anything mobile. I got my GS2 last year (first android as well), and I've since updated to 4.0.4. I have also done some research on rooting(after my fiance keeps bugging me about "fixing" our gs2s due to them always turning off) but I was uncertain on what rom to use. I have no experience with phones, and I don't want to do something stupid and break our phones. I know that I am supposed to " use exynos abuse", but that's pretty much all I know/can find without reading every page on the 80 page threads. Are there any suggestions on a stable(ish) rom for us both to use/how easy is it to "use exynos abuse"? (without doing what tyhust did) We are fine with our ICS and I wont venture into the world of Jellybean yet... (maybe once I acquire some more experience)
Thanks in advance, and for the site in general, there is a TON of information on here...

Yes, that should be the tar you use. Make sure it's from this thread. You should be okay without wiping, but if you have problems, I'd suggest flashing 2.3.4 and wiping from recovery once on 2.3.4; reason being, stock ICS kernel may brick your phone if you wipe with it (see linked thread for details on this eMMC superbrick bug).
OP, if you're uncertain about ExynosAbuse, try this method instead. I know it works, I used it myself very recently, albeit I was already on 4.0.3 and had not upgraded.

This is a good thread.
I had the same issues with 4.0.4 and i found it was a live wallpaper app (water drops) causing my random "power off". Since switching to a different live wall paper, i have had NO random "shut downs".
I still want to root my S2 and this is the best thread i have found that addresses the stock 4.0.4
good luck.
Well, after a week of no shut downs, my phone just shut off. So i guess the live wallpaper was not the issue.
Back to the drawing board
Not to hijack the thread or anything but I'm new to this phone too. I understand the rooting process on ICS what I don't understand is installing a custom recovery and kernel. Why do you have to use a gingerbread kernel and why can you not just use stock? I've always just rooted, installed custom recovery and flashed roms on Verizon phones so installing a custom kernel to achieve custom recovery is foreign to me. I've been reading the stickies but I don't understand this....is it only to avoid the flash counter being tripped? Is there a easier way to install the recovery or am I making this harder than it needs to be? Thanks for any help!

Our phone has recovery baked into the kernel. For what reason I don't know but I'm sure its a good one as just flashing recovery is IMO easier.
Thanks. Last question. After installing a gingerbread kernel and the baked in recovery do I need to install a new kernel to flash a jb or ics rom. Sorry for the noob questions. Thanks for your help.

If you're just trying to get into recovery to flash something then any kernel will do. Since the system won't need to boot up with that kernel installed you're just flashing one to enter recovery.

You can run any rom you like if you've flashed the right version of recovery. There are several 4.4.2 roms available if you want to run the latest. Depending on your area, you may get as good a signal with an att modem. Personally I'm running the BlownFuze 4.4.2 with the UVLG3 modem, with no major issues.

Any JB and up roms, you will need to flash gapps again, but your apps will come back when you log in your gmail. Just read the OP for rom you use and there will be a link to appropriate gapps, though many are the same.
If your new though, I would advise you to read up a bit. Nobody is going to replace your phone if you dont understand and as far as I know, nobody has invented a time machine yet.

You have a Developer Edition S4, you can flash just about any ROM you want on it...it has an unlocked bootloader. Not sure what recovery you have, but you'll need a custom recovery like TWRP (I recommend 2.5.0.2) or PhilZ. Either one of those can be found in this forum. The one thing you don't want to do is take an Over The Air Update from Verizon...or anywhere else for that matter. Your in good shape for flashing just about anything as long as you don't change/replace your bootloader. I haven't seen any ROMs on this forum that touches the bootloader. There are a number of good ROMs available. Just follow the Developer's installation instructions. If you're looking for a really good TW ROM I recommend trying Eclipse 3.0.

Here is a good thread for you to read. It probably answers a lot of your questions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578569
Just keep in mind there is no factory image for the dev edition Gs4, (each developer edition device supposedly has a slightly different aboot) this is why no ota updates from big red.
I dont know how to do it but get some advice on how to back up your factory firmware before going to far. If this is even possible without a custom recovery????
Don't make the mistake I made and get a soft brick and have to flash a consumer version of mdk. My bootloader is now locked but at least I am still mdk with custom recovery and flashing capability.

Since I'm running MJ9 I just don't know if I'm just plain stuck unless I wanted to go to the official Verizon Kitkat update.

I'm confused. What does this get me? I'm already on MJ9 but running Nebula via Safestrap.
nvm i assumed you have an unlocked bootloader. GL.
No worries. However, what do you think? Should I update to kit kat and try ghetto root or stay at 4.3?
