[Q] International Unlock - Sprint LG G3

Maybe I am new to this and could not find anything searching online. I have an LS990 on ZV4. I got this from the USA and it was on Lollipop. gave it to a repair guy who downgraded it to ZV4 AND it uses my SIM on GSM with global settings. It also runs the EDGE I have here.
Now, I have a few questions:
1. Due to some tries with my settings, I pressed factory unlock. Before, the phone had SuperSU and StumpRoot. Now it does not. BUT my carrier works fine and I am able to use it perfectly. I currently don't need rooting. Can I upgrade without this and still keep my carrier?
2. I try to access the hidden menu but all it says is "null". I wanted to see if I could access the APN settings. What do I do?
3. I am getting some System Updates of 293.3 MB. I am worried if I install, I will lose my carrier unlock. I have lost the rooting (StumpRoot and SuperSU already). The phone guy says, do not upgrade . Is it true that I would lose my carrier unlock?
I would like to add that my Network settings are on Global. When I insert any SIM in my country, it automatically picks it and works just fine.

I would like to add that when i installed RootChecker and SuperSU, they indicate that I have Root
I have went forward and installed TWRP. Now, I am waiting for how to upgrade to ZV6 such that I do not lose my international unlock which was done via the file change node.db and node.db-journal.
I accessed the hidden menu to see configuration of APN etc using Shortcut Master.

The international unlock solution on ZV8
After a few days of looking through the phone unlocking, rooting, bump'ding and twrping...I have a consolidated report.
My goal:
Sprint LS990 LG G3 with SIM-GSM unlock and data on the latest Android Lollipop (stock if need be).
Steps:
1. I started with ZV4, the original pre-loaded version. Obviously this is SIM blocked by default. I arrived at this state by LGFlash tooling the original stock ZV4 TOT from XDA.
2. I did not root or anything and i created no TWRP backups, hence I did not install TWRP either. This means I was at total Sprint original state.
I got over the accessibility settings and stuck at the configuring your phone page for a while by adding wifi connection. The step failed and I was fully able to use my phone without GSM. So be patient once ZV4 is loaded.
3. I went ahead and directly installed the stock ZV8 TOT, also available in autoprime's technique on XDA. Hence, I could have started from this as well as this was not an upgrade, it was a clean install, using LGFlashTool.
4. I went ahead and used the new rooting method for LG phones (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772). It worked!
5. Even rooted I had no signals. I used the method http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/unlock-sim-gsm-how-to-t2853594, did a simple restart and viola, my GSM voice and data were working. I had to select Global Network mode in my mobile data settings.
6. I have also Unlocked LTE using shortcut master, BUT I am yet to test it, I dont have an LTE SIM card at the moment.
Thinks to all the wonderful writers.

Can yo help me with data??

[Q] Softbricked rooted LG G3 LS990 after OTA update

So I rooted/Bump'd my phone awhile back using StumpRoot and flashed this BARREN Odex & Deodexed and I also put in TeamWin's Recovery Project v2.8.0.0. I disabled OTA updates on my device.
Well, I recently did get an OTA for a newer version of my Android OS which I figured would be okay since I was basically using a flashed but stock ROM that was Android anyways. I let it download the update and after it restarted, it only loads up the TeamWin loader. I can't reboot to recovery or anything.
I used TeamWin to wipe everything except the system partition and my phone still isn't loading up to the ROM. I tried using this tutorial on using the LG FlashTool to get it back up and running and it keeps failing on step #20. I don't know what else I can do.
I am not very experienced with the whole bootloader/ROM/rooting/whatever scene so I am doing everything I can and nothing is still booting the OS. I figured the OTA removed the root on the device and is why the ROM can't load but I'm not sure.
I'd really like some help if anyone can provide it.
EDIT: Fixed it. nevermind. Used this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/fix-recovery-loop-twrp-computer-t2873386
Lesson learned huh, ota when rooted, especially these tricky devices is not your friend. Someone eventually will make the updated rom rooted

except now I just realized I have no cell service, just wifi any thoughts?
In the phone dial this sequence ##72786#
This should work.
Have a great day! from my LG G3
I had the same problem, you have to factory default your phone again and when wifi pops up uncheck it and itll ask to search for service or register device.
insert something witty here...

And it wouldn't hurt to update your profile and PRL, too.
i hope this works for you. i had to send my back because i was told the radio was dead. the sprint tech typed in things on the keypad to try and connect to the network and no luck. mine was stock for the moment, but rooted. it did have an OTA download, no intentions to install it, but my daughter had other plans......thankfully it was replaced. just got it today and it it stump'd, twrp'd and OTA's blocked.

[Q] Official SIM unlock on a rooted phone

My phone is rooted stock on the very first original ROM (forgot the version). I asked Sprint for GSM unlock, they sent the request, but it didn't go through. The "UICC unlock" option does nothing. Could it be because I'm rooted and/or on an old ROM? I didn't tell Sprint rep about the root.
Idk probably the root it mess with the system try flashtooling back to ZV4 and then try it but dont ota to ZV6 or else you'll lose root. Alsi they code/ method may be bad. What carrier are you trying to go to?

Thanks for the advise. I just figured out the problem- I froze a lot of bloat with TB, and it affected UICC. unlock. I did it a while ago, and it didn't occur to me right away to defrost before attempting to unlock.
I'm thinking about traveling to South America and want to use a local SIM card while over there.
OK well have fun, glad it works
However I'm not sure how to check that the unlock actually worked. When Sprint network is available, the phone will use it regardless of the SIM. I tried to install a T-Mobile SIM from friend's phone, and my phone came up with red X SIM icon in the status bar- the same as with no SIM.
Spring does not support unlocking.
Sprint does not support domestic sim unlocking but will allow international unlocking.
If you want to use another carrier then try out cloudyg3 1.2 rom or cm11 rom. You can use any carrier with them. Or else you have to modify your build.prop file and replace the ro.carrier.target from SPR to spr using the rom toolbox app and then you get a unlocked gsmphone.

Been reading a bit, need some guidance before I do anything.

So hey guys, my goal is to have a rooted (and TWRP loaded) stock Lollipop device with the GSM service unlocked internationally. I won this phone this week from a contest and here's what I've been able to piece together in the past couple of hours:
-In order to root, I will have to downgrade to the ZV4 firmware. (I don't know which the phone will come preloaded with)
-I should use one of the methods such as StumpRoot
-Install SuperSU as I would with any other device from the Play Store.
-Use the Bump method to install TWRP (unless there's a better one?)
-Flash the ZV8 images manually on the TWRP terminal. (Because I want to preserve root)
-Use the SIM Unlocking method for the ZV8 found in this section of the forum.
I'm basically asking if I'm missing anything or if there's a better way of getting to where I want to be. Thanks!
Downgrading is not mandatory. There is an option to root from stock lollipop. Its in the international g3 forum. U can still downgrade to zv4 and stump if more comfortable. For trwp there is a new apk that will install recovery once root is achieved if u choose to root stock lollipop. Otherwise on zv4 just use bump.
Is it a sprint phone or international version

no. no thats not the way to go now.
There is a one click method to root and also to install custom rec.(TWRP)
Then theres another way to unlock your sim to be able to pop in any GSM sim.
I am assuming you have the LS990 since you are in the Sprint section of the forum.
Give me a few minutes and i will find all the links to the instructions you need to achieve these things.
DOWNGRADING WILL NOT BE NECESSARY.
EDIT:
-Root Method (One Click) GO HERE
-One Click Custom Recovery TWRP GO HERE
-Unlock Sim GO HERE

Just wanted to thank you again. Received my phone and I rooted, installed TWRP, installed BarePop V2, and the GSM unlock that you linked and it has gone without a hitch so far. I've had it for 24 hours now with no signal dropped, so I'm pretty pleased.

[Q] What's going on with the G3?

I did the stump root when I got the phone and haven't done anything since (on ZV4 android 4.4.2). I only root for the hotspot feature. I've seen posts about available Roms but nothing about keeping stock. Could anyone be kind enough to update me on what I need to do to update to the current version and then root again (or point me to the correct links). Tired of seeing the update icon on my phone and would like the current android version. Sorry if this post is unecessary, didn't see a sticky that had the info I needed.
You can do a few things.
1) Factory reset. Take OTAs to current version (ZV8A 5.0.1), re-root. Make sure you make a backup of your /data with titanium backup or something. Also your internal storage will be wiped.
2) Flash VZ4 with LG Flash Tool. Take all OTAs. Again, will lose all data. You can also just straight up flash the ZV8 .tot and not bother with OTAs. Then Re-Root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...de-how-to-restore-sprint-lg-g3-ls990-t2852042
3) Install TWRP, flash VZ8 (lollipop) rom and let your system do the update like normal.
Installing TWRP is easy on 4.4.2. Should be able to use flashify and download the bumped version of TWRP and flash it with flashify.

Thanks for the info porksandwich9113! I'm going to give #2 a try with the ZV8 or ZVA .tot
Figured I would update this for anyone else that may read it and benefit.
I saved any data I couldn't lose to my computer. Then I followed the awesome guide fergie716 provided here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...de-how-to-restore-sprint-lg-g3-ls990-t2852042
But I used the current ZVA tot provided by 1619415 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61512227&postcount=3 instead of the old ZV4 tot in the guide.
Everything worked beautifully but you have to get that MSL code and reset the phone or you won't have the Sprint splash screen, some sprint only apps, LG will show under "network" instead of Sprint, and worst of all, your tethering options won't show up under settings at all!!! There is a method to get the 6 digit MSL code provided in the guide but I did this late at night so I just called Sprint (no wait!) and they provide it hassle free. Did the ##RTN# reset and the phone was up to date and fully stock.
Used this one click root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/one-click-root-zva-t3141390
And I'm back in rooted bliss.

No mobile data with any ROM other than stock.

Lg G3 using straight talk SIM. Originally on 35b. Downgraded via tot method, rooted and installed Twrp. No matter which ROM I install I have no mobile data. I have service, but no data. The 4Glte is there but dimmed out. If I android back to 10b, everything works fine. I have tried using different bootstacks but no help. I was thinking an APN problem, but I can't get into the settings. Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I went through this whole process for nothing.

I am having the same problem on Net10 and when i try to restore to Stock LP 5.1.1 with TWRP it says its unsigned firmware and will not boot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I hope someone chime in soon cause today I was planning on picking up a Straight Talk SIM as well. I'm currently on Jasmine 8.0 with a Smart Mark SIM (dropping the service since I'm only getting Hspa) and also planned on installing the xdeb 46a Rom this weekend.
If either of you figure it out, please post. It would be nice to have a thread follow vs creating a new one.

OK so I've been able to get LTE through the hidden menu code "*#*#4636#*#*" . and changing the network to LTE only mode. Problem is I cannot yet enable VoLTE so when I do I lose GSM connection and can't make calls or send texts but LTE works great. Then if I switch it back I have GSM but no data. There is a thread on here about enabling VoLTE through hidden menus but I haven't been able to pull up that particular menu yet.

I have given up and returned to stock via the KDZ method. Couldn't get any mobile data on any Rom that I flashed.
