I'm aware that it comes rooted.
While I was organizing my place I found this old tablet. It's super old and kinda runs like it. I was wondering if I could change the firmware to something more recent.

Yes you can: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum...tablets-christian-troy-on-xda-developers-com/
Also as far as I remember there is a generic CM10.1 or even 10.2 for Allwinner A10 but you will probably have to do the work of finding out which drivers are needed and perhaps recompile it or at least insmod the drivers.

I have a Samsung Exhibit 4G (the older model - I have a SGH-T759, NOT the SGH-T679). I have successfully rooted it via the old zergRush exploit (and have a working busybox & SuperSU installed), so now I'm looking for a stable ROM for this device.
So far I've been Googling around and I can't seem to find a copy of CWM or an Android ROM for this device; this is probably some combination of me not knowing where to look, as well as the fact that Samsung decided to create two incompatible phones with the same name not helping at all.
I don't particularly care about having CWM, other than it seems to be the easiest method for flashing ROMs - if there's some other method I don't mind going that route instead. I also don't care that much about having the very latest version of Android - ICS would be just fine, if a stable JB ROM doesn't exist for this device.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

As far as I know there is no CWM for this phone. There is a "custom" GB rom (AreaRom V1) from another forum. Enough googleing and you can find it pretty easy. You will need to use Odin to "flash" rom to this device or hemdal (may be spelled wrong). I'm really sad there isn't a lot of development for this phone, it's pretty solid as far as phones go.
I just bout the 759 model, it will be here tomorrow! I didn't know that there were two models of the Exhibit! Does this mean I won't be able to successfully follow the upgrade procedures in the wiki since they are for the 679??

Indeed. The Exhibit II is the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G. It gets confusing as the original Exhibit seems to have just gotten skipped over, which is sad as it is pretty full featured as far as affordable smart phones go.
Well, when I discovered this, I immediately ordered the correct model off eBay and as soon as the old model arrived, I sent it right back to the seller. The new one should be here today. Now I'm trying to find detailed instructions for this ROM flashing procedure as I've never done it before and don't want to screw it up. Do you know of any detailed instructions available online that don't leave anything to guess? I'm good at following instructions if they're complete.

Of the to of my head I don't as I don't have this phone. Usually it involves installing clockworkmod recovery via Samsung Kies. Then downloading the ROM you want and installing via CWM. Check in the "general" forum... There are usually a few guides to rooting, CWM, and custom ROM installation.
Thanks, I am reading about it now. When they say "flash clockworkmod" does that simply mean to install it?

Yes, flash = Install.

Used SuperOneClick which says it has worked however none of the Root checkers say it is and the Super user apps can't update their binaries, anyone know how to properly root these tablets?
I too have purchased this tablet from ALDI, I am very happy with it. Would love to be able to root it... you know what I mean

I have successfully rooted it following the instructions from http://whrl.pl/RdvMXo
However I had to do some things a little different, (after reading the guide you'll understand my next bit)
after I clicked the restore data and it doing the restore it's meant to reboot the tablet although mine didn't so after trying this several times I rebooted it manually to which it actually worked.
My only anger towards this tablet is that it was advertised as 1.2GHz CPU when in fact it's 1GHz.
Champion! Worked for me, Only took 10min.
Now that the device is rooted, what would you suggest next?
Im not well versed on the apps, roms or other things to run on a tablet. So any ideas would be great.
My phone is rooted with Clockwork Mod and a custom rom, is this possible with the tablet?
And once again, thanks for the help

See now I haven't done anything ROM wise with my tablet as of yet because there are no ROMs that I can find for our little chinese made no name brand tablet, I'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for any ROMs I can find or ones that people have tested, I'm just not keen to test one of them myself and brick my tablet.
Hi, I need someone's help in testing a new version of my Online Nandroid script. It has built-in support for MTK based devices such as yours. If anyone would like to try the beta, please send me a PM.
Hi guys,
My phone is an Ontop nugget d5, and no one seems to have heard of it, it's a phone available from staples in Canada, it's a relatively cheap phone, with decent specs
I want to put an OS like cyanogenmod, but of course no one knows what kind of phone this is, and I am not a coder, or even know where to begin. The phone has a custom build on top of Android, and it kinda sucks, and it's only Android 4.1.2
Can someone help me? I don't know if it's easy or not to be able to put a rom like cyanogenmod, but I have no clue how to code, and I'm desperate to change the OS on this phone
Please anyone willing to help?

This is the reason why I've yet to get one these devices. Lots of low cost devices out of other places that have no custom roms either. Kinda makes me sad that only the expensive devices get custom roms. (except for maybe the nexus devices)

I know you guys are looking for a custom ROM (as was I), but I was happy to settle for rooting the D5.
First I installed SuperOneClick, clicked on the "Advanced" tab, and clicked "Check Drivers". That downloaded the MT65xx USB drivers. Afterwards, I followed the instructions for Framaroot 1.9.1 and got root (SuperSu binary was installed). Easy as pie.

Hi. I just dug out my mom's Nook Tablet BNTV250. I was wondering what is the best rooting up to date software out there today? I would love to root this and make it way better than it is now.

Might be as many answers as there are users, but...you're not just talking about rooting only, are you? I assume you are thinking about updating the Android OS from Gingerbread to something newer? If that's the case, I vote for AOSP 7.0 (Nougat). See here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/general/how-to-installing-aosp-android-7-0-t3578665
Well the software version is 1.4.3 it says in the settings.

Yes, that's the stock B&N operating system with Gingerbread (Android 2.3) under the hood. There is no further B&N update, so it's either use as-is, or update with a custom ROM like the one I suggested.
Greetings everyone
I have this awesome tablet for my young son who loves to watch YouTube kids
The current FW which is an OFW will not permit the DL of YouTube kids I think due to compatibility issues etc.
I ask anyone to advise on how to load a CFW or something to allow me to run YTK and other items. Obviously I would need android 5 or higher.
Where could I find step by step instructions to do this? I am not sure of the detailed ways so I am needing patience from you.
I would appreciate all the help, so will my son
Thank you
Have you tried rooting it? What model is your tablet - 10.1?

Try the 7.1.2 Nougat Rom
I prefer Nougat without gapps and overclock the CPU to 1400 MHz.
https://www.google.nl/amp/s/forum.x...elopment/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350/amp/
Good luck
I have the 10.1 GT-P 7510 I had XDA root it for me through their 1 click root system because I didn't want to take the chance on messing anything up because you read so much online about people bricking devices trying to root them. I also have kind of the same question, I have an old version of Netflix on mine that runs perfect but would like to go to a newer version, and I would also like to install kodi or xbmc on this tablet so I can take it with me on trips and be able to watch movies. after extensive searching I was able to find out that supposedly kodi 14.2 helix will work on this tablet, but trying to find it is essentially impossible, and when you do find the file it always seems to be broken in some way and wont work, supposedly there is a program called SBMC which is a fork of kodi for this device, but can't find that one anywhere. so my question is this because I am so new to this rooting thing. My tablet is already rooted with Super SU and I would like to know where I could look to get instructions how to install the nougat 7.1 rom or even a different rom to be able to go to some newer apps at this point I have been a little timid about doing too much because at least Netflix is working, and the xda tech told me not to factory reset it update it and a few other things, and a few other things because then it won't be rooted. any help in this will be very much appreciated and please feel free to move this post if it is in the wrong area and I apologize it is my first time posting. I will say this though it was well worth the 40.00 to have xda root it for me because it can be a bigger process than people think depending on the device the guys are awesome.
Rick
I also have a 10.1 GT-P 7510(wifi) 32g. The P7500 and the P7510 are basically the same and use the same firmware. I've had mine rooted for a long time. I use Kingoroot because it's easily replaced with Supersu. As far as ROMs go I've had only difficulties. What I can tell you is that for myself this has been a little difficult up til possibly just recently. There are many ROMs available here at XDA, most of them were unstable. The 7.1 Nougat, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350, looks promising but I haven't got CWM recovery to flash the zip without giving me a "No File_Contexts warning. If I could get a tar.md5 ROM I would use Odin3 in a heartbeat. Version 1.85 is the one I use most and thats just to undo the softbricks, by flashing in the original firmware. If you live in the US its this, https://www.androidlegend.com/update-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-wi-fi-p7510-with-ics-4-0-4-uelpl/. Run that through Odin if you ever get stuck in bootloop crash the tab, pretty much anything but a hardbrick. The 8.0 Rom I'm waiting for the developers to complete.
