[Q] Download mode - usb device not recognized - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I've got a SGS2 (i9100) from a collegue to repair. It doesn't boot, only the "Samsung GALAXY S II GT-I9100" screen appears. It has probably Jelly Bean 4.1 software. I can get into download mode, but can't open recovery mode. In download mode the text on screen is:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-i9100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (2 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
I tried to plug it to the computer and use odin to install jelly bean software, but computer says "USB Device not recognized" and Odin can't see the device. I tried on Windows 8.1 x64 (2 computers) and on Windows 7 x86, also used different cables. I installed Kies and newest drivers and it gave no result. I also tried to pull the battery out when connected to the computer in DL mode, but then the phone just went off and nothing happened in a few minutes.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite and it's visible in Odin.
What can I do?

[Q] installing a new android software

i've been trying to update my software manually on my Galaxy S II GT-I9100G using odin v1.85 with this " I9100GXXLPQ_I9100GODDLP7_I9100GDDLP5_HOME.tar.md5 ".
first is it a compatible software for my cellphone version?
second my phone when connected does not enter the download mode,it restarts only, but when disconnected it goes to the download mode easily, what could be the problem? (P.S. : i downloaded and installed the samsung USB drivers for cell phones)

[Q] HELP!!!!

I'm not really a newbie, but haven't really had an android in my hands for a while and EVERYTHING IS SO DIFFERENT!!!! I have a gs3 (sch-s968c) which is the galaxy s3 available from straight talk. I wanted to reserve power and take out all the bloatware, so I attempted to root it, using Odin. I tried it 7 times so far and it has not been successful. Now when I enter recovery mode I keep getting a screen that says:
odin mode
product name:sch-s968c
custom Binary download: yes (7 counts)
current binary: Custom
system status: official
qualcomm secureboot: enable
followed by: "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again"
Here's the issues: I did not ensure that I had the correct drivers and didn't have kies set up (new to kies). I can not find drivers for this exact model, and the computer is not recognizing my phone when it's plugged in (no opportunity to explore phone files)
Right now I have the sd card out (it came from a sorry explanation for a droid from straight talk (lg optimus, I think). I can still get into download mode.
HELP PLEASE!!

If you want help in installing drivers then first download and install Kies. Then search Google for Samsung USB Drivers. Drivers are same for all Samsung phones. So download and install them. That's it. Before using Odin, kill all kies related processes from task manager and start Odin.
Sent from my GT-S5360 Gadget of Mass Destruction using xda-app
Using CWM........Busybox Commands........No I use my hands

Galaxy S3 in Download Mode but no further

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 which was running Cyanogenmod 11 Snapshot M12 which had been running for a while but then I decided to revert back to the Samsung Stock ROM but chose to do it using Mobile Odin.
I have to admit that despite the phone warning me I had only 46% charge and needed 50% I foolishly thought the difference was so minor that it didn't matter. It did matter.
The phone stopped during the flashing process and now I see the Mobile phone . . Exclamation Mark yellow triangle . . PC icon on my phone screen with the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
I cannot get into recovery mode. I can get into Download Mode and I have tried to flash the stock ROM using Odin and Windows 7 (PC) but it stops dead at "Setupconnection" and Heimdall and Ubuntu 14.04 (laptop) but Heimdall does not see the device either. I have tried three different USB cables in 5 different USB sockets in my PC and 3 in my laptop.
I thought of using a USB Jig but from research it appears that would only put the phone in download mode which I can already do myself.
Does anyone have any other ideas please?
download any new firmware from sammobile.com and go to download mode and reinstall the new firmware
