[Q] SIP Setting location - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry if this is not a good place to ask the question. . .
Took delivery today of a Moto E LTE directly from Motorola so it is unlocked. It has the stock latest 5.0.2 Lollipop system released by Motorola and it is not locked to a carrier.
I am attempting to get it configured and I haven't found where the SIP client settings are. Some web searches indicate that they should be under the Phone app settings->call settings and/or settings->call settings->additional settings but I don't see them in those locations. Any other place I should be looking?
Looks like Moto G has a similar issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/happened-to-sip-settings-t3035896
That thread was not answered and I don't see one for the Moto E 2015 LTE.
Thanks

[Q] How to use a custom ROM on RAZR XT910S (Korean Edition)?

Hello,
I recently purchased a brand new Motorola RAZR XT910S (from Canada), the Korean edition of the phone. I live in the USA, and have been wanting to use it with T-Mobile, my GSM carrier / provider. I have had a few issues with the phone which have prompted me to look into a custom ROM, like the international version (Chinese?), or perhaps Cyanogenmod-- if there is a stable, functional version out for this device.
Here are the problems I've had:
Phone Issues
- Will not send SMS if data is turned on
- Always converts to MMS if text goes over 80 characters
- No setting to change the SMS splitting rules (when it decides to send an MMS VS splitting up an SMS)
- Will not allow connection to my university's Wifi; incomplete list of Wifi login options
- Will not allow install of APK files manually
I am a new poster on this website, but I have dabbled with the HTC G1, HTC G2, Droid 2 Global, Droid 3, Droid 4, XT912, and a few others-- and have been able to successfully use custom ROM's with them.
Anyway, I have searched for days and have not found a concrete tutorial for running a custom ROM on this phone. Would love to write something up if somebody can lead me in the right direction.
I understand that the CID partition has to be deleted, and a few other things have to be done-- but I just would like to know for sure before potentially bricking this rather expensive device.
Thanks,
~Sarrus

[Q] data roaming not working

Brand new moto e 2015, doesn't want to data roam. Same sim in nexus 5 roams just fine. I believe I have all the settings correct on the moto e, double and triple checked them. Stock ROM, stock everything
Makes and receives calls, just no data
Any suggestions? TIA
Do you have roaming enabled?
Stock ROM doesn't mean good ROM. Can you provide more details?
It's obviously a ROM issue or settings related if your SIM works the way it's supposed to in another phone.
It was an APN issue. I don't understand why the Motorola phones require a diff APN than a nexus phone but it seems they do.
Here's the solution:

Verizon Moto E (2015) 5.1 with GSM Tethering? Has it been done?

I've been very happily using my Verizon prepaid Moto E with the trick to unlock usage of the GSM radio found elsewhere on this forum. The only thing I can't seem to figure out, is how to make the built-in tethering function work. Since I can't root this device (VZ version hasn't managed to get an unlocked bootloader, it seems), I'm stuck using the built in functionality. I tried adding "dun" to the APN type settings, but that didn't work.
Activating the hotspot allows other devices to connect, but they can't "see" the internet. I've heard that this SIM I'm using (freedompop) can be configured to work in phones like the BLU R1 by just adding DUN to the apn type string, but it seems to make no difference on here. I can't confirm if the SIM works with tethering because I don't have access to another unlocked phone at the moment. Can someone help me verify if the problem is with the phone or the freedompop service?

A2017G Oreo Enhanced LTE Services Server Error

I have tried this new feature coming with the stock Oreo ROM and received a message from my mobile carrier initially, welcoming me to WiFi calling. All network settings seemed to be working fine, I was also browsing internet with no problems, all apps were connecting and responding as expected. However the first time I tried dialing one of my contacts I've got a message "Server error. Try again later." on the dialing screen itself. It looked like the call couldn't be connected. This happened to all outgoing calls, I suppose to all incoming also although I couldn't confirm that.
I tried many things like restarting the phone, turning data on and off, going into flight mode and disabling it, in the end I reset all network settings disabling LTE advanced services before doing that and enabling them again after the reset, but I still get that error. If I disable LTE advanced, all calls get connected with no problems.
Does anyone know if this is something with a list of supported devices explicitly enabled by the mobile carrier in their network? I am considering calling my carrier for more information but the fact itself I have got a welcome message means the device has been detected as part of the advanced services network. Perhaps there are some network settings I need to enter? Anyone ever used Axon 7's WiFi calling/advanced LTE features on any network?
Does that maybe include VoLTE which the carrier may not support?
https://www.4g.co.uk/what-is-volte/
Well according to the link provided and what I know, LTE is supported by my operator, but I wonder if it needs to be specifically tailored to a phone model by them and/or the 8.0 update by itself is not providing such functionality or it is limited by default. And I think it may be the first since ZTE products are never on the list of supported phones by any operator. But I couldn't claim it for sure as otherwise ZTE would not have included it at all with the 8.0 ROM and there are so many basic or very old models like LG K8 or Microsoft Lumia 550 that are supported.
Has anyone tried using "LTE advanced" on their 8.0 yet?

LTE Advanced = Volte
If your carrier does not support Volte, keep this option off.
WiFi Calling is something separate and not related.
If your carrier does not support WiFi calling, keep this option off.
You should still get LTE service with both of these options off. I personal find WiFi calling to work poorly, so I leave it off even though my carrier supports it. (TMobile US)
Also, there is a Q and A section for these types of posts. Don't post questions in the Guides and News section please.
Thanks for the input. Both of these options are reported to be supported by my carrier on their website. Also I always had LTE before 8.0 so simply wanted to try the new "HD voice and advanced communication service" as described in the latest firmware.
About posting this thread in the news & discussion section, this only relates to Oreo which was only recently released to the public so it is a completely new feature for the Axon. Most of the other threads are too general and since there will still be many people with 6.1 and 7.0/7.1, I would have hardly got any response whatsoever in there. For now I will keep this new option off and will contact my carrier for the support of the Axon and ZTE in general.

How do I enable HD voice?

I just got my moto G power yesterday, purchased unlocked through best buy. I can't seem to figure out how to enable HD voice. I've looked through the settings, looking for advanced calling or anything like that, but I've come up empty. Google searches haven't been helpful for me either. Is HD voice working for anyone else?
no hd voice on this device using sprint in the us, what carrier/region variant are you using?
Verizon in the US. I just assumed it was a given with any new phone, budget or high-end.
If your carrier and sim supports it: Settings> Network and Internet > Mobile Network. You'll also have WiFi calling under the advanced settings.
I tried an ATT MNVO, it didn't give me any of those options, but every one of them appeared with a Verizon MNVO.
Unfortunately I don't have those options when i go to that setting menu. Might be unavailable when bringing an unlocked phone to verizon perhaps?
I bought a g8 power yesterday. My carrier supports VOLTE. before that I had xiaomi me a3 and there it worked after entering the "code" * # * # 86583 * # * # (an option appeared in the settings). Well, I can't find this option on g8 power and I can't even enable it.
Verizon does not allow Advanced Calling features on unlocked models. I was able to flash my unlocked Z4 to enable Advanced Calling: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ng-and-root-with-xt1980-3-on-verizon.3994025/
But no luck so far with the Moto G Power XT2041-4.
