The Unlegacy Android ProjectIntroduction
Unlegacy Android started out as the OMAP4-AOSP Project. It was created in late 2015 in order to maintain a clean and organized place for pure AOSP support for various OMAP4 devices, such as the Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series. Over time this evolved to support more than just these devices, but still maintains its roots of supporting "legacy" devices that no longer receive "official" updates: hence Unlegacy Android was born. In our opinion, these ROMs are how the official updates would look.
On top of AOSP, we only include changes which are necessary to support the hardware, be secure, and get acceptable performance. Current features for the Nexus 7 (2012) include:
- Linux kernel 3.4.y (currently 3.4.113)
- BFQ IO scheduler (official kernel 3.4 release), set up so GUI processes have the highest priority
- F2FS support from kernel 4.9 (for /data only! no point of f2fs on /cache)
- SELinux in Enforcing mode
Installation
It's important that /system needs to be unmounted before installing the ROM - some recoveries tend to leave it mounted after performing operations on it.
If you're planning to install GApps, be sure to read the second post!
Aside from these, installation and upgrading is no different than on other ROMs.
Problems
- We received some RIL bug reports on 3G variants - other than that, there are no known issues.
If you notice anything, be sure to report it in this thread. Stability is our main concern. While we're kind of busy, we usually read the thread and acknowledge the bug reports, even if we don't reply directly to them.
Downloads
See: http://builds.unlegacy-android.org. Our automated builds ensure that we always have the latest Android security patches merged in, without having to manually start and upload builds
We will have a built-in OTA updater (just like stock) soon (it's a work in progress)
Features?
There isn't much to say here - this is AOSP, if you install GApps, you pretty much get the same thing that's running on the Nexus devices (see the second post). The aim of this project is to create a fast and stable ROM - although, one could use Xposed (or similar) to add extra features.
As usual, feedback is appreciated

GApps
If you want to install GApps, we recommend Open GApps Pico.
An important note: as this is a pure AOSP ROM, installing GApps tends to be problematic: in order to try to avoid installation issues, be sure to install GApps immediately after installing the ROM, before booting the system for the first time. If you experience any issues with the Google applications, be sure to go into Settings -> Apps, and grant every permission to every Google application - most importantly, Google Play services.
In the case of an upgrade, be sure to re-install the GApps package, as upgrading wipes /system. You shouldn't need to re-set the permissions afterwards.
SafetyNet
The ROM should pass SafetyNet after installing GApps, without anything else. Keep in mind that installing extra stuff (SU, ...) might make it fail!
Rooting
You can flash the latest Magisk to get rooted.
Yesss is it snappy?
I was able to workaround the panel errors in the kernel - PWM control isn't working for some reason, so I had to use an alternative method to enable backlight, meaning it's using a fixed brightness. This isn't important right now (I want the core functionality to work before making stuff bug-free). I also forward-ported the touchscreen driver, so it's mostly working now - it still needs some fixups for 3.4. My next goal: audio and video decoding.

Kernel/common android-3.4 branch could be merged into the kernel after it's fixed up, which will surely make it more efficient.
great, i wish you very much success :fingers-crossed:
While I try to do my best to keep myself from working on this 24/7, I couldn't resist... and fixed camera, video encoding and decoding, and audio (party, just the rear speaker works yet) also works now :silly: what this means? Blobs won't stop us, as they work fine on 3.4 as well.
Man you really are doing the job man any way i can help? i want to help
I'm so subscribing to this
I never thought we will get to
3.4
Subbed for sure. Very good news here.
Will definitely be keeping my eye on this one.
Today, I fixed sensors and panel PWM control (meaning brightness can be changed, auto-brightness works fine as well), and Bluetooth. Doing this alone requires a huge amount of time and work, as there's still a zillion thing to do, like merging in android-3.4, fixing up touchscreen (there are ghost touches and packet spams slowing down the kernel), fixing up suspend (need to press power button multiple times to wake up), audio, otg, etc...
No one else has tried building this then?? I thought this thread would boom after all the excitement for 3.4 on the 3.1 bringup thread. Anyway, Ziyanns just helped me fix this booting for both pcbs now so it should boot for everyone.

No, you need to hardcode your pcbid and projectid into board-grouper-misc.c atm which you can get from last kmsg (just grep for those things when catting a kmsg in adb shell).
Can i help somehow? i want to help lol
I want to help too !

halogenOS Checklist
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another rom:
Please take a full nandroid backup!
Please copy your back up to an external device.
Backing up your Internal Storage is also recommended.
When completed, please clean flash the build!
Although you usually can dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM has the same Android version, it is not guaranteed. In case of serious
crashes please do a clean flash.
XOS is a new generation cutting-edge OS for Android based on Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from CodeAuroraForums (CAF),
featuring only extremely minor set of components from CyanogenMod (CM) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the CodeAuroraForums (CAF), the CyanogenMod
organization and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,
then join us on Telegram: http://telegram.me/halogenos
Visit our website for features such as: Downloads, Information etc.

(Not finished yet)
Common stuff
The ROM is super stable as of now and we'll maintain a clean and proper ROM.
Known issues are going to be fixed as soon as possible. We don't have infinite time.
Planned features (don't ask for these!):
Heads-Up toggle
Button actions
OTA Updates
Highlights (some are OPO-only):
Built with UberTC
No QS Bug!!!
Reworked Lockscreen Visualizer
New implementation of button backlight
Modern Services -> Google Assistant etc.
Substratum
Full media support (FFMPEG, video codecs, ...)
Great Audio quality, no distortions, no crap
Optimized many portions of the system including surfaceflinger, inputflinger, System Server, and more
Super fast boot
Superuser-capable
Great battery life
Soundmod support (not all soundmods work on Nougat, it's not our fault)
addon.d support (backups your gapps etc. when flashing new build - don't wipe system before flashing!)
init.d support
BusyBox
Disabled Access Time for all partitions (We don't need access time. When access time is enabled, it will store the exact date of the access when a file is accessed, what just wastes write cycles (in theory) and has impact in I/O performance.)
Super smooth
Signature Spoofing toggle (Support for MicroG)
Support for trusted third-party WebViews like Chrome
Long press on home for assist toggle
Security Patches in kernel
KCal support
Kernel optimizations
OpenGapps (Mini/Micro/Nano recommended) and Banks GApps support
Offline Gestures support (super fast recoginition)
Alert Slider
Full KeyHandler & KeyDisabler support
Dexpreopt for faster (first) boot time and less space consumption on data partition
Upgrade & Boot the ROM in just 5 minutes - no more endless waiting for flashing a new build
Very high compatibility with other ROMs
How to update the ROM:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Do not wipe anything
Flash the ROM
Flash Magisk 13.3 or newer if you want
Reboot
You don't need to wipe Cache/Dalvik.
You don't need to flash gapps again. There is some magic going on which keeps your GApps. Just make sure that you don't wipe system before flashing.
You don't need more than 5 minutes.
How to install the ROM for the first time:
Download the latest zip
Reboot into TWRP (Please use official TWRP)
Wipe system, data and cache (If you want to try a dirty flash, dont wipe anything)
Flash the ROM
Flash gapps if you want
Flash Magisk 13.3 or newer if you want (Download 2.79 here)
Reboot

Camera already worked in permissive, but had problems in enforcing. Could you take a look for the next build?
Also the text don't in the upper bar, when it displays the context of an SMS, is somewhat too big when the screen display size is set to smallest, could this be somewhat smaller? Reboot fixed it
hdr crashes with default camera, bacon camera seems to work fine

HDR works for me ..just enable AutoHDR in setting for both front and back camera before using it simple.
Just clear data of the camera and do the above setting.

Very nice rom love it i like near stock roms but have strayed with n roms due to camera. Great camera except the flash doesn't work right see pics the bright one was taken with google camera other pic with stock camera. When you touch screen to focus flash lights up the object like in the google cam pic but when it takes the pic the flash is so dim it doesnt really work.
What would be the best camera app to use to get full benefits of the camera blobs? Bacon camera?
Rom is fluid and responsive as compared to other caf roms. Keep updating because some of developers just creating lots of roms And neglecting there updates specially sutenized CAF roms...

About Omni
The goal of Omni is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there.*Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.
Omni is a chance to get involved, no matter who you are. Developers, whether you’ve been developing apps for a week, or ROM features for 3 years, you’re welcome. Users, we know you want to help out, and now you can – Omni actively encourages bug reports and feature requests, which can be added to our publicly accessible roadmap. What’s the point in giving you a ROM, and forcing you to not tell us about any bugs you find?
We also recognise how people use Custom ROMs – we’re all custom ROM users and developers ourselves – the argument that “nightlies are not for end users” is over-used, and no longer valid. We’ve found that the vast majority of users want to get nightly updates to their ROM. For that reason, nightlies aren’t a playground – nightlies are for new features that are finished. You should be able to expect the same stability and reliability from a nightly as you would from a “release” ROM, and can report any bugs that prevent this from happening.
We know not everyone wants to update their ROM daily, and you are free to update as frequently or infrequently as you like. Omni is about flexibility and giving users what they expect – and we are excited to see where the community goes with it.

Yes, gapps are to be flashed separately. You can try gapps from here https://builds.nezorfla.me/opengapps/
what are the features of this rom? Is there anything especially with regards to camera? In all the oreo builds camera is having some problems.
I have since flashed this rom. No problems as yet. i am using it as my daily driver. I have flashed magisk 15.3 and it is stable. Just like all oreo roms the camera is not working with apps like whatsp, camscanner, drive etc. Thank you developer and keep up the good work. I have also flashed youtube background module and viper module in magisk. Both are working very well.:good:
Settings force close while changing notification channel in apps.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Pre-Disclaimer:
THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL BUILD. The intent is to showcase what is coming up soon. @frap129 and I have been working hard on getting taimen on a level we consider DD ready, especially from a security side of things.
Please keep any problems with those builds in this thread, we don't accept any bugreports for unofficial builds anywhere else.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash!
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
Notice:
This build includes GApps for now. We're still working on ways to not prebundle it.
Before you flash, make sure you're on the latest 8.1 stock builds (and bootloader), then flash the ROM in TWRP.
MORE IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are very proud to announce that we are the first and only custom ROM to actually get the Now Listening Feature working on AOSP.

Is this ROM still in testing? And I tread that were supposed to have latest stock 8.1 build.. what's that supposed to mean?? I'm running RR Mod rn.. and I really wanna try carbon.. any help??
ROM is running very smooth! And it seems like it's the first one which doesn't push the cores of the G5 to 2GHz all the time so battery consumption is pretty low.
I had some crashes in the beginning after restoring APPs from Titanium Backup but by now no further issues. Camera is okay but could be better (crashes from time to time, 'Open Camera' is doing quite well!). But I guess this is due to the fact that Motorola hasn't released Oreo yet and some parts for building the camera parts properly.
- Magisk v16 works fine (had to install it twice but then worked)
- BT working
- ext. LTE support (can't test VolTE cause I don't have it)
- Safetynet passes
- SD Card access working
@rrajesh011, @vache - you did a very descent job! By now it's the best Oreo ROM I've tested.

- Magisk v16 works fine (had to install it twice but then worked)
- BT working
- ext. LTE support (can't test VolTE cause I don't have it)
- Safetynet passes
- SD Card access working
@rrajesh011, @vache - you did a very descent job! By now it's the best Oreo ROM I've tested.

seems to work!
Does this ROM support substratum theme engine? @rrajesh011
That would be awesome because I don't like the white menus from the interface.

EDIT: UPLOADED
Let Me know how it goes! I just own the XZ Premium
Hello,
I have tried it in the XZ1, i flashed the latest firmware, ending in 145, formated data twice, mounted the storage in recovery, copied the 2 files, tried flashing the zip, it failed with error 7, i have modifed the updater script, because the model was maple, and not poplar, flashed ok, booted ok, with the pixel notification, when i tried setting it up, there was no keyboard to input the password to my wifi network, removed the password, tried again but the setup fails, it says google play services stopped, and does not go forward. I ve tried flashing open gapps, but still no luck.
Thank you for your efforts.
Help as please.....
I'm giving it error 7, the idea is that I found on youtube several things that were about to unpack the zip to look for a script and delete something from the script, all those videos in the script show something else to be deleted from the script, I tried to I delete something, the first row with "assert" but gave me error6 .... maybe I did not delete what need to work, maybe not have all the row deleted ... Thanks
Replace maple with poplar in the first row. It appears 3 times.
have it need unlock!
THANKS...

It works, but there are 4 "maple" and there is ("This package is for" maple \ "devices car needs to be replaced ... Unfortunately, she tells me he can not sync with Google and the black screen remains
Sounds like the included GApps are not flashing right. Since Chrome is removed am i forcing a WebView install besides the Google Keyboard, Pixel Launcher and so on. It should all be there and working without further Edits or Tricks. I checked also the Updater Script and i really missed to remove the Device Checks before uploading. I will upload fixed Versions as soon as i can. Until that please check out if something was wrong while flashing and provide Logs from TWRP if possible (Got to Advanced, Copy Log after flashing).
Looking forward to give You a working Stock Patch! Think we can handle that
Nice...

I'm looking forward to solving the next update, these are the problems, the problem with the error7 which is solved by zip unpacking and "maple" with "popolar" and this problem can not be done because you can not synchronize with google and it remains in black screen after trying to search for updates, I tried to flash Pico Package for Google Package Installer and Google Play services but it does not work, same problem and the stockpackage is got bootloap probably because google installed Ventor, I'm waiting for you to solve these problems, is overtake me ... thank you

Updates coming in the next Hours after fixing some last Stuff!
Hi,
I am downloading the patch for my 8342 version (stock) but I cannot see the snap.prop file within this folder.
I have checked the other XZ1 variant and all are having it.
Could you please confirm that I also need this file to proceed ?
If yes, could you please upload it ?
Many thanks

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub organization. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Compatibility notes:
You MUST be on Android 9 stock ROM before flashing this. (Most of you are on it already anyway.)
This ROM is entirely untested on the SM-T385.
Based on previous projects floating around on this forum, the ROM can be flashed but will not have cellular support.
I will NOT add cellular support to this ROM. I only have the Wi-Fi only tablet, and that is all I am going to work with.
Boot can take about a minute because Samsh*t's camera blobs are rather unstable and it takes it a minute to load up.
Things that do not work at the moment:
Offline charging is unsupported at the moment. Will be fixed soon, but for now don't bother with charging while powered off.
Reboot to recovery is totally broken. I have no idea why this is. It's being looked into.
Adoptable storage is not working.
Instructions:
Update to the latest version of Android 9 for this tablet. It doesn't matter how you do it, be it system updater or with Odin. Just get it on the latest version.
Install a custom recovery of any sort.
TWRP exists here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/3747564/
LineageOS recovery coming soon
Format the data partition. That is, on TWRP, the Format Data option (not to be confused with Wipe data)
Install the ROM like you would anything else in TWRP.
Do NOT enable "Update Lineage Recovery alongside the OS" for now.

Changelog:
20230310:
- Initial, rather broken release
- Things are ok-ish, it's selinux enforcing and all
20230408:
- Fixed sensors. Rotation working.
- Removed auto-brightness. Apparently this tablet just straight up does not have auto-brightness sensor, so I cannot support it.
- LineageOS recovery works.
reserved:tm:
Thank you!
- N3RDP0RT4L
Current Issues:
1. No functional SD support. The format menu shows, but after formatting the OS will not read the card when inserted.
2. Auto brightness does not work even when it is turned on.
3. Rotation support for any UI menu doesn't work out of the box.
Note:
NTFS is supported out of the box, when tested on a USB HDD reader on a dock.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 255 when installing .zip
... I just used Google better ... let me see. I'm relatively new at this, but I was able to build.
Thank you so much for your work! I've had this device for years and I haven't seen a single custom ROM for the T380 until now. I'm excited to watch this project evolve.
I'm surprised no one has tried Austin's. "ishitos" it's a really nice debloated stock ROM. It installed for Austin.

Confirmed it works.
Thanks for this! I was literally going to post for sale the day you posted and just did a quick search and found it.
Installed over the weekend. Looks like almost everything works... BUT I'm getting a DRM issue and no video plays (Youtube, Newpipe, Freetube, Reddit video, etc...). Going to try reinstalling. LMK if there is a setting or something you think I'm missing that causes the issue.

You could of used Austin's stock ROM edit; "iShitOS". It's really fast.

....this is post is for discussing LineageOS on the T380, the developer intends to improve it. It's really weird that you keep telling people to use a different ROM instead, kinda disrespectful towards the dev tbh.

I'd recommend it when the ROM is unstable, and incomplete. I know the Dev.
I recommend having a failsafe incase something is up with the ROM as well. I'm very glad to have lineageos available on the device.
While I agree that this ROM kind of isn't in the best shape, I do think that you should keep iSh*tOS to its own forum thread, or make one if it does not exist. If people need some other ROM they can find it themselves.
Sorry, I haven't worked on this tablet in a hot moment, a lot of other things got busy, I got sick and the moment I recovered I have two exams and an interview back-to-back. That being said, a number of things are fixed, notably the sensor drivers. Adoptable storage is an easy fix that I just haven't tested yet, but the real problem is the recovery reboot shenanigan, I suppose.
Ok
iSh1tOS is my project yes and it can be found in my rooting guide/treads. This thread is only for lineageOS 18 on the SM-T380.
New build: 20230408
Changelog:
- Fixed sensors. Rotation working.
- Removed auto-brightness. Apparently this tablet just straight up does not have auto-brightness sensor, so I cannot support it.
- LineageOS recovery works.
Reboot-2-recovery is still broken. I kind of don't understand why at this point, but I'll keep digging.
Note that security patches are still on March. Google has not released a security patch for April at this time.
