XT1526 OTA Capture! Help! - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have found some URLs from a logcat that seem to be related to the 5.1 OTA rolling out. However, when I enter the URL into my web browser, nothing downloads nor is anything displayed on the webpage.
I'm hoping someone with more experience capturing OTAs will see this and help a brother out.
Here is the link that I believe to be the actual OTA download link. Please someone tell me if I'm wrong or how to go about entering this to download said OTA.
https://dlmgr.gtm.svcmot.com/dl/dlw...kcu0/k/uLTxrhwB7HqV7Dcwn4cTaRqbSEnW0Iiq8JZtM=
I will keep trying other URLs within the logcat and hopefully one will download the OTA.zip
Thanks for all attention this thread garners!
If one is found, thank @Spashman for his capturing the logcat during the OTA process.

This is the US Cellular OTA name: Blur_Version.22.46.1.surnia_usc.usc.en.US.zip
I just cant find a working download link...

Pretty sure thats it... but how do i download it?

@Spashman have you installed your update?

Nothing yet...I actually fell asleep about 2 hrs ago at my keyboard rescanning the entire log AGAIN...yes, I am actually on the exact phone right now running 5.1! Wow, didn't I pick a great time to start capturing OTA's! I've know marriages that didn't take this long! I agree with https thar you are questioning...one really strange side note on this 5.1 is that I can delete every ounce of us cellular bloatware without any unlocking or rooting... Yet can't wipe out any google related apps and I verified with SU and root check that its 100% not rooted. Stock.5.1!!!! This is getting personal! Lol!
Sent from my MotoE2(4G-LTE) using XDA Free mobile app

Lol. Yes Motorola is great for having a near-aosp experience. Most bloatware is removable without rooting and all that.
As for scanning, I just opened the file you have me in notepad and searched for a couple things: "http" and "clients.google.

Anyone have any luck capturing this? If you're rooted and download the update you can grab the zip from data/media, just don't select install after the download is complete... I imagine that by this point everyone who has got the OTA notification has downloaded and installed already.

i still dont know why it keeps saying, that im not allowed to "post outside links" when i write a link to another topic...
I dont know but inteks's version was "erased" by market updater so I take the update and Fake the resolution.
New users Are not allowed to post links
that's why I put mine with code "tag"
sorry for the english
Thanks, but there is no com.android.vending.apk in /system/app. Do you mean Vending.apk?
yes, mine disapearred after some tests, then I push it to com.android.vending.apk and it work well.
User report me that with Vending.Apk name it also work.
It works great! Can confirm it's the new version 2002012.
Thanks shokmah
Thanks for this shokmah!!
Whats the difference? ive done the patch, but i dont see any different...
I don't know the entire difference Between the Stock original One, but It may add new features such as Instant search, apk auto-update option, and many others features.
The patched version allow you to view app which require 320×480 screen Display, some of theses apps work great on our 240×320 screen Display.
I may add support for greater Screen resolution but more you Increase Resolution, More unlocked app will not work smoothly.
Sorry for the english, it's not my native language !
EDIT :
to verify if it work :
search for adfree android and you should found the app
search for video you should have 3544 found result
thanks a lot!
Now I can download "adfree android" app, but "video" string result get 2202 result..
ps: Xperia X10 mini pro, and 2.1
maybe it's different for other , I've french market
Worked for me
Thanks!
you know it works if you search "video" and see results for "video ringtones"
"video ringtones" : 46 matches
Thanks. Worked for me.
When i search "video", i get 3368 results.
How can i prevent the market from getting self-updated in the future? I dont want to disable the data traffic for ever
simplest way to hack the market is here by me..http://bit.ly/9E3Bii
Root explorer's way seem to be simplest way , but adb's way is powerful and completely free and normaly you should pay for RoOt Explorer .
@MonteChristo1979 : you have to delete marketupdater.apk in /system/app, for new update I or Someone will post a patched Vending.apk again
the market is not the problem ! its the marketupdater !!! delete it and everything is fine

[LineageOS][OTA][PHP] Open Source REST Server for you

Hi guys,
today I would like to present to you a simple project that was born on this thread to accomplish a very simple task: since there are thousand of Custom ROMs around here, so much of them are LineageOS based, and because of this their forced to build every time all the ROM and post updates here. Users are also forced to check if their preferred ROM was updated or not. That's why I decided to understand how LineageOS OTA Updater System App works. Because of this I've wrote a simple REST Server API emulation that fully works with your ROM (if integrated of course). How? Continue reading down here.
How does it work?
Of course is as simple as it should be. Clone the repo (is a simple PHP website that you can host on any shared hosting*/VPS that you like) and upload it into your preferred hosting. That's it. If you point your web browser to that address the App is already working.
After, you have to upload all your build to the _builds/ folder, and you're done.
The two already working calls /api and /api/v1/build/get_delta should answer correctly the updater app to make it work (remember that visiting it as a browser is not sufficent).
How to integrate it with my ROM?
You have two options:
- Declare cm.updater.uri on your own build.prop file with the value of you own server URL where you have deployed it (This can be done also by the user with any Android App from the Market)
- Replace the string conf_update_server_url_def value inside values.xml of the OTA App source code (COMPILE TIME ONLY!)
Which builds does it support?
Anything that will be borned by the official guide on how to build your custom LineageOS ROM! So, in poor words will be: stable, rcs, nightly and snapshots (likely called EXPERIMENTAL), from CM7 to CM14.
Delta updates SHOULD work too. Just try it and tell me if they works
How can I debug it?
You can use this simple UnitTest that I've already pushed into my GitHub. Feel free to use it everytime you need. It's based upon NodeJS and Unirest.
Is it free?
"Free software is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of free as in free speech, not as in free beer."
—Richard Stallman

Use it as you want, do anything you want with it as it's MIT licensed.
Is it free of bugs?
That's why I'm here Only you can help me to squash all the remaining bugs!
I hope this will be useful to anyone of you, helping the ROM community providing a simple OTA updater that already works on LineageOS official ROMs.
Greets.

Hey, I'm having trouble using your docker image behind a Nginx https reverse proxy. The server is correctly answering the requests:
Code:
{
"id":null,
"response":[
{
"incremental":"",
"api_level":"",
"url":"http:\/\/MYDOMAIN\/\/builds\/full\/lineage-17.1-20200830-UNOFFICIAL-lavender.zip",
"timestamp":1598774045,
"md5sum":"718fb89f935b979edd57b2642234d1fa",
"changes":"",
"channel":"unofficial",
"filename":"lineage-17.1-20200830-UNOFFICIAL-lavender.zip",
"romtype":"unofficial",
"datetime":1598774045,
"version":"17.1",
"id":"50533a894b2ab0d9b2711444ca4f2b530a8ff2389723ea2bd7ada6e029599e2c",
"size":914450521
}
],
"error":null
}
But the returned `url` is http-only and the updater can't download it (throws error). WhenI try to curl it without `-L` I only get `301 Moved Permanently`. Only when I append `-L` I get the correct binary response over https. I'm pretty sure this is a redirecting issue.
Here's my Nginx config:
Code:
server{
server_name MYDOMAIN;
server_tokens off;
listen 80;
listen [::]:80 ipv6only=on;
# Redirect all HTTP requests to HTTPS with a 301 Moved Permanently response.
return 301 https://$host$request_uri;
}

add_header Referrer-Policy same-origin;
add_header X-Content-Type-Options nosniff;
add_header X-Frame-Options DENY;
add_header X-Xss-Protection "1; mode=block";
[...]
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Basically I want to know how to force the `url` response in the JSON to be `https` instead of `http`. (At least that's what I think is the reason for the updater not being able to download the image.)

Not sure if this project is still supported, but with build.prop change, it just checks for updates forever on phone. When I try debugging with the UnitTest script, I get "Not Found The requested URL /CyanogenModOTA/api was not found on this server." (definitely server-related) I've gotten this working before on another VPS, so I'm wondering why it's not on my build server.
Are there any specific packages I need to install to get this working?

Since build.prop is in the system.new.dat file in lollipop builds, I just started copying it over from my build server and modified the Build.php file to look for the file instead of inside the zip. I just got this working on my web server. Only issue I'm having is related to change logs but I'm going to try and figure that one out later.
Here are the changes I did to get this working with CyanogenMod 12 (all changes will be assumed from the CyanogenModOTA directory):
- mkdir -p builds/buildprop <-- this is where you copy your build.prop from each build (they go in a folder with the same name as the build zip e.x. cm-12-20150103-NIGHTLY)
- mkdir -p builds/changelog <-- this will have your change logs (name them the same as the build zip except with a .txt extension)
- update setConfig( 'basePath', 'CyanogenModOTA' ) to setConfig( 'basePath', 'http://wfhome.net/CyanogenModOTA' ) in index.php (that is my server)
- change the Build constructor function to this (I updated the preg_match_all line, added the buildPropFolder variable, updated the $this->buildProp line, and changed the changeLogUrl line):
Code:
private $buildPropFolder = '';
public function __construct($fileName, $physicalPath) {
/*
$tokens Schema:
array(
1 => [CM VERSION] (ex. 10.1.x, 10.2, 11, etc.)
2 => [DATE OF BUILD] (ex. 20140130)
3 => [CHANNEL OF THE BUILD] (ex. RC, RC2, NIGHTLY, etc.)
4 => [MODEL] (ex. i9100, i9300, etc.)
)
*/
preg_match_all( '/cm-([0-9\.]+-)(\d+-)?([a-zA-Z0-9]+-)?([a-zA-Z0-9]+).zip/', $fileName, $tokens );
$tokens = $this->removeTrailingDashes( $tokens );
$this->filePath = $physicalPath . '/' . $fileName;
$this->buildPropFolder = str_replace('/full', '/buildprop', $physicalPath) . '/' . preg_replace('/\\.[^.\\s]{3,4}$/', '', $fileName);
$this->buildProp = explode( "\n", file_get_contents($this->buildPropFolder . '/build.prop') );
$this->channel = $this->_getChannel( str_replace( range( 0 , 9 ), '', $tokens[3] ) );
$this->filename = $fileName;
$this->url = $this->_getUrl( '', Flight::cfg()->get('buildsPath') );
$this->changelogUrl = str_replace('/full', '/changelog', $this->_getChangelogUrl());
$this->timestamp = filemtime( $this->filePath );
$this->incremental = $this->getBuildPropValue( 'ro.build.version.incremental' );
$this->apiLevel = $this->getBuildPropValue( 'ro.build.version.sdk' );
$this->model = $this->getBuildPropValue( 'ro.cm.device' );
}
Also he has memcached setup in there, so you might make sure you have memcache installed and set to run on startup on your server. You also need xdelta3 to create delta builds although, I don't think it is working ( I compiled the latest version of xdelta3 and it doesn't appear to do anything as there are not any files being created in the delta folder).
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the help (I'll definitely need it when I actually want to start USING the server), but it seems you've misunderstood me. Right now, I can't even get the rest server running properly-that's why I'm getting a 404 error.
Notice you get an output when you go to http://wfhome.net/CyanogenModOTA/api, I don't get anything!

Ah sorry. First thing I see is that you need mod_rewrite installed in apache.
Code:
sudo a2enmod rewrite
sudo service apache2 restart
Need help with development
First I would like to thank you for using this product and playing with it (which involves patching, testing, etc.).
Since the first post I've made here in XDA the project evolved a little since I rewrote entirely the project to make it composer friendly. Rather than that, the Delta build process is actually non working (I tried to create a ZIP but I don't have enough knowledge in ROM development to tell if it's enough or not) so it's just a WIP layer that should be addressed and fixed (I've already found a Python project which does this already but I'm of the idea that this should be somehow not be a bloated software that needs to install binaries here and there to make it working).
So, actually I'm not really working in this project but It's in my TODO list, meanwhile I'll be very happy to have pull requests with useful patches to make this KK, LL and more compatible So feel free to contribute and thanks again for using it!

I've also implemented your changes, but when I check for updates on my phone, I still get "No new updates found". I've copied my new build over to builds/full, and the build.prop to builds/buildprop/cm*
rjwil1086 thank you very much for your help and suggestions, I made my own server http://paksman.ddns.net/cyanogenmodota, edited build.prop for cm updater to look for server url, made all the changes as you but I always get "No new updates found". Not sure if there is a problem with my server or with this project in general. Have you made any success to make this work?
I have it working. I'll upload mine to github tonight
Think I solved my own problem. My builds were all tagged as 'UNOFFICIAL'. When I changed this to 'NIGHTLY' (for the build and build.prop folder respectively ) they finally started to be recognised by cm updater app. JulianXhokaxhiu and rjwil1086, thank you so much for your effort,your work is being much appreciated.

Yup. Sorry. I knew that but forgot to mention it. That's an issue with the CMUpdater app more than it is with the REST implementation. It doesn't look for unofficial files

[CyanogenMod][OTA][PHP] Open Source REST Server for you
I have just creat susscess a server. Thanks.
But, now I want creat a update OTA app for other AOSP ( andoird L) and using that server which I have just creat.
Can I using CMupdater for it? Can you give me some suggest?
Hi, need help to understand!
First of all, i want to say Thank You! For this great job!
I installed server, activated mod rewrite in apache2, apt-get install memcached, made chown for all files to www-data in CyanogenModOTA directory
created directories builds/buildprop, builds/changelog
created file romname.txt in changelog
copied file rom archive to build/full directory
and when i open in browser my ota site: http ota.mydomain.com i see the dir listing as described above
when i try to open url http ota.mydomain.com/api - i see the 404 error.
what exactly i have to do as the next step?
is any json file missed in web root directory (in same place as index.php) ?
and I leave index.php almost unchanged (as in the repository) - just changed string: ->setConfig( 'basePath', '/' )
Thank You once again!

Are you sure that modrewrite is working? Can you share a working URL?

Honestly I don't know, we have to check if OTA app is the same in Lollipop and works of course the same. If so, we're already safe and yes it can work out of the box. If not, we have to fix it. If you already have a working example, feel free to do a pull request

Technically it should be enough but the order of where you placed it is important too.
Anyway, going to your URL is just making me think that the PHP code is running well (the redirect to builds folder is triggered by CMOTA Rest Code). You're just missing the htaccess rules.
I'm quite sure you just have to figure out your own server setup to understand if mod_rewrite is properly working (allowing htaccess files to be read and parsed).

can i use uri of apps to open them using this
ho, sorry . You mean the "Start" command .
Ok no problem. With "Start" command , you execute/open different programm
For example :
// open a website with arguments
start http://google.com/search?q=test
// open new email
start mailto:[email protected]
// open Bluetooth menu
start ms-settings-Bluetooth
After you can mix and make a 'batch' script file , or create a shortcut tile link to this script
Example :
Step 1 - write the code into a file with (echo) for open Bluetooth menu
echo start ms-settings-Bluetooth >> c:\data\test.bat
Step 2 - execute the (shortcut) command for create a tile to the home screen (.ink)
shortcut /n myTileTItle /t c:\data\test.bat
/n => shortcut name
/t => target file
/i => icon picture
you can check the sample scripts to "c:\scripts" and try to open the code with the type command.
Example :
//Read the code
Type mySampleFile.bat
//Execute the batch file
mySampleFile.bat
@irshad2809

Maybe i can add this feature to the next update

can you explain about this .
@Stefan Caromov , sorry for now , you can only use the [w] and [n] arguments for set the timeout or how many packet will be send . By the way you can not see the size of packet size. I take not now for implemant this new feature in the next update
@irshad2809 Do you can please , show me wich 'hostname' you used ?
ping Google.com => is ok
ping 8.8.8.8 => is ok
ping 192.168.1.1 => is ok
ping http://www.google.com => is not ok ! As the true cmd command line
good game, this app is very nice

It does work.. you can dump the partitions.. and it [U]appears[/U] that you *can* write to the boot/recovery.
HOWTO: Creating your own a custom system.img for flashing with the sda-flashtool
Code:
# Remove the following hex sequences from the stock system.img
# These are the only thing that stop the image from being a normal ext4 raw image.
"30 3C 38 30 30 30 30 30 2E 2E 2E 2E" (Three total)
"30 30 32 39 3D 39 36 38 2E 2E 2E 2E" (One)
# Convert the now fixed system.img to a raw ext4 image to mount using simg2img (linux or possibly windows)
simg2img system.img system.raw
# Mount the raw image using loop (linux)
mkdir rawsystem
mount -t ext4 -o loop system.raw ./rawsystem/
# When you are finished making changes - create a new_system.img using the 4096 sparse format.
make_ext4fs -s -l 1024M -b 4096 -a system new_system.img rawsystem/
# move the new_system.img to the sda-flashtool directory (in windows) :)
# run sda-flashtool
sda-flashtool
# note that the sda-flashtool takes care of the injecting the headers --- even with file size changes..
# semi-major bug right now is the new_system.img needs to be at least 600mb. Will be fixed soon?..
# Have fun!

-Due to the way Bless (hex editor) formats its conversion table, it appeared like the images headers first 4 bytes were converted to a hex string which became the 2nd set of 4 bytes and those bytes summed to the 2e 2e 2e 2e. It looked like it was a simple subtraction/mask issue. Its a bit more. :/
-[STRIKE]Also it appears that both the bootloader and the recovery have a seperate ramdisk partition which is an overlay(?) and so it needs to be flashed as well.[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE][*] Alright well, found a method that may end up working... I was able to flash the stock 5560s CPB without bricking my 5560s. :D[/STRIKE]
[*] At this point it looks like we either need to create a custom system image w/ SuperUser.apk and busybox pre-installed OR we need to create a custom CWM for the coolpad 5560s.
[STRIKE][*] It appears that as a part of the process of flashing the CPB, we can override the recovery.img with another recovery.img BUT we'd have to create a custom CWM. If we have enough information about the partition layouts.. hopefully.. a non-bricking custom recovery.img can be created. :D[/STRIKE]

If you manage to find anything out about this I am super interested. Just got one because... why not, it was 10 bucks lol. If you need a guinea pig im down.
Hope we can find root for this phone soon, many are trying current root tools, but none are working, I have tried like 5-6 different ones so far, none working as of yet. im sure in a few more days - someone will have an update on there tool for this to be rooted.
Nevermind.
I have 4 of them now, so hope we can find a way to root them soon, I also wanted to get the bootloader unlocked if possible.

Opened up one of my 5560s' (Arise) and it looks like it's almost identical to the Coolpad 5217 which happens to have a root and various ROMs available to download. I don't have much time available to start porting ROMs, but someone here might go ahead and give it a look. I'll try to find some time later today to post photos of the PCB.

I've been playing around with this device and I figured I would share the progress I've made. I also obtained the CPB file (along with the official USB drivers) from Coolpad and was able to extract it with YGDP, the result of which can be found at the link below:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4t9dt63rRpXaHo0XzNqVy1WT00&usp=sharing
Based on the extracted boot.img and the partition information pulled from a running phone I attempted a build of CWM for the 5560S - which can also be found at the link above. I haven't had any luck getting YGDP to flash the custom recovery.img and attempting to flash it via Fastboot hangs on "Writing..." Perhaps someone with a little more time on their hands will be able to get this working.
A few notes:
Coolpad uses a custom USB device ID that is not recognized by the fastboot command automatically. You must use the following flag while issuing fastboot commands:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1EBF <command>
Attempting to flash the stock CPB file via YGDP will result in a "soft-brick" where the phone will hang on a screen that says "1. modem" with up/down on the side. You can access the phone via ADB in this mode and issue the following command to reboot normally (which differs from the advise you may find online for other Coolpad models):
Code:
adb reboot system
Attempting to replace the recovery.img in the temporary folder YGDP creates (which only happens after modifying its configuration for the phone) does not seem to cause it to flash the custom image instead, unlike other Coolpad models
Attempting to replace the recovery.img in the CPB file with the custom recovery.img in a hex editor causes YGDP to complain about the checksum not matching. I'm not sure where this checksum is stored or if it's modifiable.
Hope this helps! :fingers-crossed:
Has anyone figured this I out yet?
Just wondering if root is available yet?

Awesome! TYVM!
I soft-bricked my 5560 as well-- ended up using adb's shell to reboot into the stock recovery, clear both the data and cache, then rebooted and.. it started up fully stock with no issues that I can see..
Quick question -- how did you get the YGDP to actually extract the *.imgs? Using procmon I've seen YGDP read from the CPB but never write to any files..
Coolpad 5560S Pics
Here are some crappy pics of the insides, I didn't see any specific headers for any UART or JTAG, but they could be multiplexed with other pins. I'll get around to actually desoldering the RF shields some day and using the Nikon D90 for the pics instead of the iPhone.

The XML config for the phone that presumably tells YGDP how to flash it is stored in dProdRes.dll. Using Resource Hacker or another resource editing application you can edit the XML value for UnzipCPB to "1" in the 5560S section, which causes YGDP to extract (more accurately "split" since the file isn't compressed in any way) the CPB file into the DownloadFiles directory. I've added my modified version of dProdRes.dll to the Google Drive folder referenced above - the md5sum for the original file should be 1041E39DF18B86E9945B4A8601E6ACD7 and the modified file should be E3C5538235B0742425B84D97DF066972.

Outstanding -- thanks for the explanation.
Playing around a bit today noticed:
-YGDP ignores the unzipped files and procmon shows even if YGDP unzips the CPB it still simply reads from the CPB. Tried playing around with the downmod="" section in the XML but YGDP still ignores the zips.
-Did notice that a few of the other coolpads had custom CPB's that only had the recovery in them. Perhaps its time to reverse engineer a file format..

I noticed that too, and it seems that the community for other models had figured out how to do exactly that. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any documentation or tutorials online and didn't receive a response from the one or two people that I contacted.

Same.. We'll keep lookin!
Ty again for all your input in this.. sometimes we all have a bit of the puzzle.
Why cxant anyone figure this out?
It seems that since this is a excellent phone that can literally be purchased for $9.99 at King Soopers, that a lot of people would have them even if just for a backup phone. I figured there would be a lot of ROM's, Recovery's, ect... ANYONE, PLEASE HELP US!!!:good:

Monitor system file changes (root) ?

Checked posts / searched for an existing answer... didn't see anything (please move this post if it is in the wrong section)
So I have a app, when I open it asks me what Google ID to uses (preferred ID) but after selecting a Google ID I can not change to a different ID
- If I clear the App Cache the selected ID persists
- If I clear the App Data the selected ID clears and the app returns to the select ID option
- I keyword searched for the App name on my device (Nexus 5x)with Root Explorer (12 different file locations, with subfolders and a bunch of empty folders)
Clearing App Data is a working interim solution, the downside is that every time I clear the App Data the app "downloads assets" (40mb+ ~40 times per day - 1.6Gb!)
What I am hoping to find is a app / script / terminal / log solution that will tell me what file is being modified when I select the Google ID, so I can delete that file re-open the app and change Google Logon
(I contacted the app developer, they said they may be able to fix the problem on the next patch eta 12-24 months)
So I have tried these apps:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=file.observer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=scd.lcex
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm
But I didn't see system changes (root level) or I didn't know what to look for in LogCat
Any help or suggestions are appreciate!
- I do not have a computer with me (ADB) will be about 7 days before I can try that
- I have been experimenting with deleting files / folders and testing to see if I get lucky (probably not the best method)
- I am not a developer
My current process (as of today) - I clear the app data, then restore the app data with TB (just restoring doesn't clear the sign in status)
As long as my TB backup is "always" in the signed out state, then the "app assets" restore with no issues (and I don't have to keep downloading them)
I am looking for a way to get these (2) operations into a single script / file / shortcut, but it is working for now
I did try the terminal with cp -a (copy the assets - app had a error on library permissions when the files were restored) chmod, chown, and find (try and locate the file) but had minimal success
