Could someone extract the apk for the stock camera and upload it somewhere?
I accidentally deleted it and I'd like to run some tests.
You'll need to have a rooted phone.

I have the huawei not the c.c. version and the camera is in the firmware. there is no .apk
I have the same version but I rooted my phone and installed a system app remover (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp).
I can't seem to find it. What's the path?
It is part of the stock gallery app. Gallery and camera are all one.
I'm not sure how to get an installable apk from the system, but if people know it's the gallery, I'm sure they can get it for you.
Edit: here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7dcst4wb9ux34j/com.android.gallery3d.apk?dl=0
Like I said, it's not installable, but it might work if you copy it to the system apps folder with proper permissions.
Unfortunately this didnt work - the installer failed to install the apk like you said.
I also tried looking into manually copying the .so file within the apk itself to the system/lib folder (https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/android-ndk/X1mRZwBxZLc)
But, the apk doesn't come with one so I guess I'll just have to reinstall the stock firmware.

Just do a dirty flash. You should keep everything else that way.
(Dirty flash is flashing over top of existing ROM, for those not familiar with the term.)
Here, this should work. I copied them straight from the system folder. There are 2 gallery apks in the system folder, and I am not sure which is which.
Gallery2.apk <<<Probably this one.
Gallery3d.apk
Again, not installable, but this time if you copy to system/app folder it should work.
Just seen your post here , i do need this App as well , any chance you can tell me how do i install it please ? not sure how to put them into the app folder , how do i go about that ?

You need root browser or es file explorer or similar. Then you can just download the file and copy or move it to the folder named above. As DB said you must have root access to do that.
Hi divineBliss hope you are well, here why we need the stock camera app which found it works better then the most camera apps with a lot of features..
There are a variety of shooting modes within the camera to give you quite a broad range of functionality and control with Huawei Mate2
Normal – Manual mode, full control over the settings. Some element of default for a reasonable picture.
Smart – An automatic mode that intelligently takes the best picture possible
Beauty – Offers a 10 level auto face enhancement, ideal for portraits.
HDR – High Dynamic Range that improves the lightest and darkest areas of a photo.
Panorama – A wide shot of the scene compiled through a series of images being stitched together
Filters – Applies filters/colour schemes/tones to the image live rather than after capture like most image editing applications.
Audio Note – Takes a 10 second audio clip with a single image
Audio Control – Triggers the camera when a certain decibel reading is achieved.
Best Photo – Takes 10 photos in quick succession from which the best one can be picked.
Watermark – Allows you to leave a mark on the image. Based primarily on your location, it can be edited.
and phone is rooted already

The stock camera as posted will not work for cm or PAC. Odex system differences.
If you are on 4.3 it was that simple. So not sure what you are running. Just to throw that in.
Have you tried checking in the Google Play for something that would work if this doesn't. I looked and found a couple that will do some of what your asking but not all. You can check them out and see if they will work for you or search till you find something that will. The three I found are
Camera360 Ultimate
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vStudio.Android.Camera360
Camera MX
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magix.camera_mx
Open Camera
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera
Hope this helps out.
Camera360 Ultimate seems works like a charm Thank you so much
but to better this PAC-ROM i would say default Camera app also can be replaced with better one to save everyone installing new one
I use CM camera.
Here is the lollipop stock camera. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B97V_YadJs2bM3ZpTGZDMGtTU1U/view?usp=docslist_api

Is there a way to change the filename format of the pictures that the stock camera saves?
It uses a filename of MMDDYYxxx (MONTH DAY YEAR then 4 digit number)
I would prefer to have it be YYYMMDDxxx (YEAR MONTH DAY then any identifier). Preferable with the year being a 4 digit number.
I'm also interested in this. I hate the way it names pictures. It makes things difficult when you sort by filename in a directory listing.
I've changed the date format under Settings > Date & time > Select date format > to MMMM/DD/YY but it has zero effect on the way the camera names files.
So frustrating. Samsungs camera does filenames about perfectly. example: 20140827_135746
They even add down to the second on the name. LG just adds a letter if it's a picture taken within the same minute.
edit: Dang. Even looking clear back to my original Droid1 they had this correct. Filenames were "2010-01-29 21.26.14.jpg". How could LG mess this up so bad?
I just ditched the stock camera for Google Camera. The weird date format and always asking if I want to delete the photo after swiping got on my nerves. I still have the LG camera opening by holding volume down when screen is locked though.

I'm not sure about the laser focus. The OIS is built into the lense and is still functional as it is built into the lens, and by the looks of me recording it works.
However, I haven't played with it enough to tell a difference in quality of picture taking

Meh. I think, if I keep the phone, I'll look for a script that converts the filenames into a more normal format before I save them to my desktop or switch phones. Not much I can do about Google+ but I hope it's smart enough not to duplicate.
I am pretty sure it is not.

Just an FYI: I went into Settings > Date & Time > Select date format > and choose YYYY/MM/DD and it had no effect on the stock cameras file naming scheme.
I would love to use a 3rd party camera but I doubt it would make use of the LG's laser focus.

Man, I have the LG G4 and this is a serious issue. Now I have 2 major deal breakers for me that are probably a 1 hour fix for LG:
1) Camera file naming (terrible thing, we had a hail the other day and my wife and I took pictures with our G4s. now I am organizing the photos, the names are messed up, I have not manually rename until I get it right, and even then the date stamp on the photo is messed up so it shows up in the wrong order. Add all this to Google being cheap and not wanting the normal SMB format in the phones, when I copy using the cable the date stamp on the pictures also changes)
2) Auto Brightness. Which is beyond a serious deal.
I cant believe LG just ignores major issues like this.
The magic happens in LGCameraApp/smali/com/lge/camera/file/FileNamer.smali
Id love to fart around with this but in two days im off to Nexus heaven. Good luck to anyone that embarks on this challenge.
I know this is an old posting, but I just stumbled across it now because I am dealing with this image file naming convention myself, but with a G4. There are certainly a bunch of solutions for automating the renaming process, but instead of reinventing the wheel, a very simple CLI tool that can do this is called jhead (http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/). To rename images to something more easily understandable like YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS format, here's the syntax:
jhead -n%Y%m%d_%H%M%S *.JPG
If you still want to preserve the original file name, you can always just tack it on as a suffix with the following syntax:
jhead -n%Y%m%d_%H%M%S--%f *.JPG
Anyone can say whether the Edge is compatible with the Manual Camera app in the Play store? There is a compatibility checker which can check before you buy. It seems many Lollipop phones do not implement the full camera api.

I'm looking to buy the s6 mainly cuz I liked the camera and it was running on lollipop. I was wondering if it was fully utilizing the camera2 api, since the native camera app couldn't control shutter speed. Thanks for checking this as I wanted full manual on the camera.

That's amazing. I like this phone more and more every day
Hi,
According to the person who wrote this article, it seems that the camera2 api is not fully supported at the moment :
http://spectrastudy.com/camera2-api-on-mwc-2015-devices/
The manual camera checks would then bit too enthusiastic if this is true.
Can anyone who has manual camera installed try to take a picture in RAW and post the DNG file here?
I couldn't find any S6 DNG file on the web; it would be great if someone could confirm whether it is really possible to shoot in RAW with the S6.
With a Nexus 5, the 3 following apps can shoot in RAW :
- a better camera (there is a free version with limited number of shots in case)
- camera fv-5 (paid app)
- manual camera (paid app)

you can't the camera app will crash...
This app causes phone to reboot, even though the compatibility check says the phone is compatible.
Proceed with caution.
I bought Manual Camera and it just FCs every time I try to open it....I got a refund instead of waiting for a fix.
Force close here too
I had previously bought Manual Camera during using Nexus 6.
I try install the Manual Camera at S6 Edge and it won't work where my phone will auto restart once I run the Manual Camera.

Well it *was* working.
Went to use it today, rebooted phone!
Tried several times and it started working again but it doesn't seem stable, get FC on shutdown, etc.
Will remove and wait to see if they have an updated that fixes this.
Works great on my Nexus6.
50 ISO (where lighting permits) looks fantastic.
Do use FV5 a lot.
The stock Samsung app is very nice too.
The added pro mode is exactly what was needed.

2. take a picture with any other camera app on play store, for example Google camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera
3. transfer both pictures to your computer

Its just about one chip on the motherboard which reduce the amount of pixel noise in the image and its only the stock sony camera app that can use the server interface to send data back and forth to this chip. If you flash any sony based rom you can now flash a .zip file with the lib files and server apk to make the chip work again even if you unlocked your bootloader.
But to me..its a stupid gimmick that just ruins the image. This is not a camera phone.
You can find the mod in the cross dev forum part. Nothing special really... keep moving towards the lollipop roms :silly: those are the fun around here
the camera on this phone is nothing to write home about... stock or AOSP...
We won't see any better photos on the Ultra until we get the camera2 API implemented, which allows RAW capture and better control of the sensor. Only the Nexus 5 and 6 are supported right now as far as I know.
The issue today is that Sony is controlling the camera hardware and its software, so it's impossible to reduce or change anything major. Camera2 in Lollipop changes this, giving regular third party devs direct access to the camera hardware, and with that we can potentially use the sensor, which shouldn't be that bad, to its fullest. Snapping photos in RAW would for example eliminate the freaking compression that Sony uses.
I'm a total extreme performance enthusiast with quite the experience of system modifications and development assistance. Delivered some great results though I say myself, I'm just super needy so I never stop looking for improvements.
One of the goodies I can offer is total AD free environment, wether it's in the apps like YouTube and all the countless apps exploding with annoying ADs or browsing the internet, even removing leftovers from where the ADs where placed making the websites much cleaner.
Modified YouTube app with background playback with the screen turned off supporting full media control trough headphones, amongst several custom settings.
Fantastic app that offers fast stream of almost every movie or show available in high definition. You can also get subtitles with most of them and the best part, you can download everything with either the system downloader or your own download manager which I can also include that is the very best out there, even quite better than the ADM.
Then there's the most advanced YouTube downloader. Download any video in any resolution, codec or fps and even metadata like subtitles. Then you can download any music video in audio only, choosing from any codec and metadata offering high quality cover art using the max res thumbnail, title, artist and other info.
Then there's the king of audio enhancement, ViperFX, taking your audio experience to a whole new level.
Xposed and so so many enhancements, modifications and customizations to your liking.
I can also theme the whole system in a gorgeous pure black AMOLED style, including most of the apps like YouTube, Instagram and so on.
And the point of your post is...? Just praising yourself?
What is the OP selling?

Nah you haven't seen what I got, if I was to write everything down, well the Bible would be shorter...
But to be serious and all, already at least few fellas benefited from this. One is now 99.99999% free of them nasty Ads (then I mean properly, like everywhere, some sites just shrunk about twice it's size thanks to the https system certification filter that removes any AD on encrypted websites and apps, leaving no empty spaces all over where the Ads where placed.)
Another one was dealing with super annoying lags in the popular PUBG MOBILE, even though he was using the pretty powerful Galaxy S8. Found there was an issue with the kernel GPU coding and managed to solve that with a favorite kernel of mine that got me some ridiculous score on Antutu.

Go to this website, there you can find the official firmware for your phone. You can choose your region in filters.
Then extract the zip and flash with Odin. Just make sure you choose correct files for each Odin flash types.
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model
I'm actually going to setup a system from scratch today. I could maybe assist you in setting up TWRP after you have flashed the official firmware with Odin and unlocked oem in developers settings. Then there is the no verify zip you need to flash directly after flashing twrp. You must boot into recovery mode immediately after flashed twrp and flash the no verify zip, otherwise you'll get locked out by Samsung security protocols.
When that is done I highly recommend BatMan ROM with the Xceed kernel and finally flash magisk to get root and all the great modules that you can install with magisk.

Hey I'm rooted with VZW s8+. What are the recommended settings with Adblocker? I have AB installed and running, I just wanna make sure that I have everything enabled to get the best user experience possible. So is there anything that I need to add/check in the app that would help me get the most from this app.
I also have the spectrum TV app installed on my device and it won't work because I'm connected to the adguard VPN services. Is there a way I can still be running VPN and watch the Spectrum TV app shows?

Hi,
First of all, thanks for all the work of B-S-G! He made this DCP meaningful.
As a semi-pro photographer, I always wanna raw rather than jpg if I will do any post-editing. You may know that, GCam can output DNG raw file now. But when I imported DNGs to Lightroom, the color is totally wrong and looks terrible! But the noise-level and dynamic range is far better than jpg. Also you can bypass the sharpen progress. But what if we can fix the color rendering?
So I made this DCP file. If you don't know how to use it just google it, really simple. Tested with Lightroom 7.5, works really well.
Then firmware version of my Mi8 is 8.12.7, and the GCam is MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2a+ which apk is provided in this pack. So if the version is different the result may vary, try for yourself.
I provided a sample picture from my Mi8, you can compare your results with mine to check if everything right.
Plus, I grabed a sample from my Sony A7R3 which is High-end Pro Camera in the same situation. So the quality from Mi8 still cannot beat the Sony. But the color is very close now. That means for some simple jobs, I can even use Mi8 as BCam, save some weight and space for a fixed wide-angle lens.
In my opinion, the entire quality is close to my RX100M2.
Please feel free to share the DCP, Cheers!
Chongnuo Ji.

Glad to see that!
But I must point out that DCP is made specificly for each camera ( more accurately, the sensor ). As you can see, Adobe made so many profiles for different cameras in Lab, and packaged to every Lightroom users. If you use A profile to B camera, it is not accurate.
Anyway, your results are not that bad, totally improved!

Hi,
If you use Lightroom and Photoshop in Windows, you can just copy the DCP file this path: "%appdata%\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles". Type the path in "My Computer" and Enter will guide you there.
I have very few experiences with MacOS. But google tell me the path is : "Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / CameraProfiles /"
After you copy it. Restart your Lightroom or Photoshop. The DCP can be used now. Choose it in Profile tab, should like this:
If you do not have Lightroom or Photoshop. You can try Rawtherapee instead, it is freeware and support Win+Mac+Linux. And using DCP is easier, in bottom of Color Tab, you can browse to it.
In phone, I have not found any app can support 3rd party DCP. If anyone knows, please tell me~
Anyone managed to find a version where portrait mode is REALLY working well? I was testing the MGC_6.1.009_Poco-oreo_san1ty version and it is very good, but the portrait mode is very bad, losing to the old version that used MGC_5.1.018_MI8_V1b and even to the portrait mode of Xiaomi itself.

Hi, Thanks for providing this excellent dcp profile. someone has made it work in Mi8 by copy the dcp file to /data/data/com.adobe.lrmobile/imagecore/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Adobe Standard.
However, this profile seems like work only with the raw taken by Mi8 GCAM in android lightroom.
MI MIX2s, whose camera hardware is the same with MI8, can't apply your profile anyway. Could you kindly provide a MIX2s DCP file so that the raw taken by MIX2s can benifit from your work as well. Thanks a lot.
The picture attached shows that the profile works after you copy the dcp file to the profile folder.
the another one shows the raw exif info of GCAM in MIX2s. I guess if the "google mix2s" change to "google mi8", the dcp file can work on it.

Thanks for the method of using in Lightroom Mobile. But seems mine not work, I copied but not appear. I will try later..
Yes, dcp has built-in unique camera name. If not match, Adobe LR and PS will refuse to show it. You do not have to change your dng camera name, just mod the dcp, its the right way.
You can use dcptool to change the built-in camera name. If you think it is complicated I changed one for you, give a try~
But I can not make sure the color still accurate. You think they are same sensor, and yes they are. But if the beside chips or processing is different... I say this because Nikon D610 is different than Sony A7, and they are using the same sensor...

Thanks, actually we have changed your mi8 dcp config and it works.
I get your point. Seems like the color is okay right now and it's much better than the original raw.
Thanks again for your help

Are you using android?
You need to get the root access first to move it to the data folder. Mine works fine after we changed your mi8 dcp config.

I did what you said, but still...
Check the screenshots
I have tried this profile on latest xiaomi.eu weekly rom, but color wise It seems worse than the jpeg created from gcam. It adds too much red and looks so unreal. I would like to calibrate my own, is there any free software that can do that? I found an old version of colorchecker passport but it is not working.

the color is totally wrong and looks terrible! But the noise-level and dynamic range is far better than jpg.

Am I missing something or can't you just fix this by simply changing RAW format in Gcam settings from RAW10 to RAW_SENSOR, this simply fixed all my colour problems and now lets me edit Gcam DNGs easily in Lightroom mobile with the colours working as they should without the need for a DCP.
Strange, on my side RAW_SENSOR is giving empty black picture(both jpeg and .dng files). Also RAW_PRIVATE is making the gcam stop working and need to clean data & cache. What version you have working with RAW_SENSOR ?

I tried both RAW format, and get the same result on my mi8. I have changed to mi9 now. The color problem is still the same ( mi8 gcam works for mi9)

X-Rite software is free to use. Although you have get a colorchecker first.
I use Lumariver Profiler Designer to make it. More control over X-Rite's. But X-Rite can work of course.
