So I had a weird thing happen over the weekend. Decided to swap phones with my wife for a few days. She has a Note 4 DE. I got it all set up and swapped the SD cards. The card that was her's I put in the z3v and it would read it. Pulled it and put in my PCs card reader and it said it needed to be reformatted. I was able to get the files I needed off it by using some file recovery software. Then I reformatted the card and all was well.
Swappoed phones back last night and when I took MY card from the Note 4 and put it in the z3v the same thing happened. I'm in the process of recovering the files now.
Anyone else encountered this when swapping cards to the z3v?
You should go to the settings and storage then unmount the SD card before taking them out. Hope that helps.

My phone won't recognize my 32gb sd card. I had an 8 in there and it's fine. However the 32gb isn't recognized. I've formatted the card and it's fine in a reader.

Does it show up in your phone as unavailable? When you look at settings -> storage? If not then you will be able to format it within those settings

Reason I ask is that I just had a 32gb pny sd card randomly go bad. It would open on my computer but would freeze up if I clicked anything. I couldn't even format it.
If you can, try and format it again and see if that works, if not then it looks like we're in the same boat

I don't think mine is bad because I can read it from a card reader. I can write and read. But no go for the phone. Also when i put the card in my phone it says it is damaged and then prompts me to format it and then when i format it it says card removed. However like i mentioned its fine in the reader.
Is it formatted as FAT32?

I'm in the same boat. I just moved over to an ASOP ROM and I keep getting that the SD is damaged. I reinstalled the ROM and downloaded it again. I even formatted the SD with the phone. After rebooting, I got the same message. The card works fine with my PC and my other phones.
Any ideas?
Has anyone ran into a issue with their sdcard and their Note2?
Last night I used my Note2 with no issues. Woke up this morning and noticed I had a alert message saying that the sdcard had been unexpectedly unmounted. Couldnt get the sdcard to remount. The phone wouldn't/couldnt reconize thw sdcard. And even my laptop couldn't reconize it. But the phone reconized a different sdcard, so I know the phone reader is still working. But this is a Lexar 64gb class 10 xc sdcard. Not some cheap trash. I lost my nandroid backups, movies, pics, etc....
Just glad I wasn't running the Jellybeans v18 on the sdcard swap selection. Then I wouldn't be able to use my phone period. Lmk if you have seen these sdcards go out before. Just beware!!!
Why wouldn't you be able to use it phone if card goes down

What he's referring to is JellyBeans additional "SD Swap" feature which basically makes your phone see your SD Card as the internal storage. I don't know why he thinks his phone wouldn't work though, as with any phone the Internal Storage/SD Card is not required for the device to operate.

I've ran into this issue with Lexar jump drives and had to use command prompt in W7 to make them work again. It always happened when I would write a Linux distro to the drive to use as a bootable disk.
The fix requires you completely wiping the drive, which the two jump drives in question that I always have issues with are actually micro SD card readers with whatever size card in them.
Here is the link explaining how to fix it:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/219693/unable-to-format-usb-stick-to-full-capacity/
What I have to do though is select the disk drive and once in it I have to use the Create Partition Primary command instead of selecting a partition because on my drives there are no partitions and it won't even show up under Computer most of the time. Give it a shot and see if it gets you back up and running, if not you may have a faulty card that Lexar needs to replace.

I was reading, some people are problems with the scandisk 64gig cards. The card might be dead from what I've read. But don't hold it against me, just passing some info. I haven't ran across this problem.

I went through 5 sandisk 64GB cards before I got one that worked for more than a week. All brand new cards. That was back when the GSIII first came out though.

I myself used an adata 64gb class 10 and understand completely about the card just not wanting to work. Granted I'm keeping to 32gb class 10s until I see better reviews in the bigger cards.
Current device:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Retired devices:
Huawei Ascend, Droid Charge, Droid Bionic

See I've never experienced any issues with either of my SanDisk 64 GB Class 10 and neither has anyone else I know that owns one. I wonder if they had a bad batch?
I haven't seen anything about other manufacturers 64GB Class 10 cards having issues yet but it is either something to do with Class 10 cards or a bad batch.

I just had a sandisk 32 gig class 10, and a 16 gig both go out on the same day. One in my wife's note 2, the other in my daughters tab2. Neither was recognised in windows completely. I reformatted both, but 16 gig will show blank card on the wife's phone until unmounted remounted. Both less than 6 months old, on the same day. I blame the solar flares, what else can I blame it on?

I wouldn't say that, I would say they are the most expensive therefore people think they work the best. Cause everything that costs more is better, right?
Honestly PNY and Samsung cards are just as good.

wife's 32gb card just started acting up. Sometimes the phone reads it, other times not. Haven't had time to investigate it yet.
Are you using moon rom v3? Same thing happened to me. It kept saying it was un mounting and remounting. I rebooted my phone and gave a sim lock message. Thought I was screwed. I flashed beans and now im back to normal.

How do you go about doing this? I have no original paperwork or packaging, just a dead 32GB Sandisk card.
call 1-866-SANDISK (726-3475) and tell them about your problems they will ask for the numbers off the card. They make you send your to them first then when they recieve it they'll send you a new one.

I have a PNY 32gb sdcard that's been working perfectly since I picked up the S4 in May. This morning there was a message on my phone saying there isn't an sdcard detected. I've tried popping it in and out several times, rebooting, etc. None of that helped. It's not even visible in recovery. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm stumped.
Sometimes sd cards go bad without warning. It's best to keep your important things backed up on your computer. Sounds to me like you need a new card.

Yeah, I guess the obvious next troubleshooting step here is trying a different sdcard (which I don't have now). Just wanted to see if there was a known issue slash easy solution that was out there already.
You can try your sd card in your computer before trashing it. You might be able to get it to work long enough to retrieve your saved files.

I just applied the RUU update, and when I go to storage - Mount SD card is grayed out, doesn't appear to read my microSD at all. Worked fine before update.. any ideas?? It's a 64gb micro sdxc. I was going to try a reformat but wanted to see if anyone knew what else it could be first.

Mine did the same thing, a reboot worked for me (think I got lucky though, ;-p)
If it doesn't, do you have a spare sd card to put in there to try and isolate the problem, whether it's the phone or card.
Also are you stock, rooted, s-on/s-off, etc?

I did a reboot with the SD card out, and it didn't work when I put it in. But then I just rebooted with the SD still in the phone and it worked when it came back on! Thanks

I want to replace my current sd card with a larger card but I don't know how to elegantly (& smoothly) lay down everything that was on the old card into the new card. I tried transferring via my computer but that didn't work. I'm sure members have done this, can you please share your 1,2,3...experience?

I backed up my 64gb card and transferred everything to my newer 128gb card, it went fine just took a while.
You can use the old one in another device and use Wi-Fi direct or super beam to do the transfer

Thanks for your input. The phone got so screwed that i will have to back up my data to drop box, and unroot my phone, re-install the factory software, re- format the 128gb card, and reinstall all my stuff. And I still don't know why the phone went haywire so badly. There simply was no good reason. Except maybe the weather was contrary.
