[Q] Lollipop Bug: 'Recent Apps' capacitive button stops working after update. - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

I updated my stock unrooted Alpha via OTA update to 5.0.2 and my Recent apps capacitive button will not register anything. it still lights up if you touch the back key. I sent to my provider and they reverted back to 4.4.4. I decided to try it again and am having the same issue. I contacted Samsung directly this time who told me that my provider should not be rolling back the OS. They sent me a shipping label to send the phone into them for repair but I do not have a back up phone yet. Any chance anyone has had this issue? anyway to fix it an avoid sending my phone in for another 2-3 weeks?

Its known bug on 5.0.2 but not everybody have this bug, I'm also facing this. No fix so far. Waiting for 5.1 if any.

[Q] Camera app crashing after boot from lockscreen using hardware camera button

I have had the Xperia Z2 for three days now, after giving my wife my Galaxy S4. Today a problem started occurring that hasn't happened so far.
When I boot into the camera from lockscreen by holding down the hardware camera button, when I try to take a photo the camera app freezes. It will either simply freeze, or it will pop-up the lockscreen asking for my security pattern, or it will allow me to depress the button to focus, but it will never actually take the photo. When I turn the screen off, re-open the screen and log-in using security pattern, I see the "Unfortunately, Camera has closed" error. On a few occasions I have been unable to re-open camera app from the app draw until I reboot the phone.
Bringing up app info and clearing data fixes the problem temporarily, but it comes back. Once the problem starts, it will happen every single time until you delete camera app data.
I am running the stock Australian ROM (Telstra branded unfortunately). Build number 17.1.A.2.55. I have yet to root or unlock bootloader as I am checking for issues like this and other reported problems first.
Has anyone experience this? Does anyone have a solution?
I have the same problem booting into the camera to take video. This happens 5 out of 10 times.
Video recording would freeze and crash the app.
My Xperia Z2 is on Build number 17.1.A.2.55 from Telstra.
Let me know if you have a solution to this!

Did ya install some mod for camera? Or is it even rooted? If not it is sony's fault just take it back to shop. It is not meant to happen by any reason.
I purchased my Xperia Z2 from Australian Telco Telstra, and not having issue. So I guess it is not matter of software? Before it get worse or mess it,
I strongly recommend you to take it back to shop and explain everything and show it to shop assistance.

[Q] Back, Home and Recent Apps buttons doesn't work anymore, why?

Hi,
So my phone worked good till i opened a small game (Coin Dozer)
The application randomly stopped and from that moment i cant use the Home, Back and Recent App buttons.
Is this a software or a hardware problem? I'm going to the shop tomorrow of they can see it.
I could do a hard reset but i dont know of it will work 'cause i restarted the phone 10 times and the buttons still doesn't work.
Till it is fixed i'm using My Home Button from Google Play.
Anyone has the same problem or a solution?
Thx
(srry for bad english)
If you already restarted your phone, I doubt this is a software problem. May be something to do with the digitizer?
Could be, i'm going to the shop at 14.30
Or is there anything so I could to fix it now?
Sent from my HTC One X+

Back button issue after verizon's stage fright patch

Hi,
I recently updated my droid turbo is to 23.21.44 provided by Verizon as a security patch. Once after the installation, I started to notice that the back button stopped working at many times. If I lock the phone, then there is a chance for the back button to again start working but not for long. Please provide a way for either rolling back the current update or give me a new patch having quality software.

Urgent Help! Back / Home / Recent Buttons not working

Hello Guys
I bought my Z5c in November 2015. Until Thursday it had been working fine. We all know about battery drain and all that but actually the phone was working. I personally like the phone a lot.
On Monday July 31st, I updated to Nougat 7.1.1. Everything was OK. On Thursday Morning the back / home / recent buttons were not working.
I already tried:
- Safe mode (the problem is still there)
- Factory reset
- Software repair (Xperia Companion)
- Flashed the phone and changed CDA to another region. I could not downgrade
I don't think this is a hardware issue because the buttons work in the lockscreen and in landscape mode. It just doesn't work in portrait mode.
This made the phone unusable. My phone company gave me a Sony Xperia XA for $47 for now.
The Z5c was purchased unlocked.
I really need your help please
Thanks
What can I do in this case? I don't think there's a Sony repair center in my country
hi... I have exact same problem..! plz help...
Plz help someone
.....
I am running lineage 14.1 and still there is problem. It works OK in recovery
Hi
I've got the same issue with my wife's Z5C. The navigation buttons are totally unresponsive! Phone is not rooted, so I have no idea if they work in recovery or not. But the buttons DO work if I put phone into landscape mode with Sony logo to the right, but not with the logo to the left?!?
I'm stumped here, so please provide some feedback please...
Meanwhile I'll reset phone with PC Companion and maybe later I'll downgrade a few builds...

UPDATE:
Downgraded to .160 (Generic AU) but no luck. I think this phone is toast, but the weird thing is that according to built-in diagnostics, the surfaces where the back/home/recents button are located are all functioning properly. Any thoughts?
The easy solution is to install an alternative from play store and see if it works or if you are still covered by the warranty just send it to Sony...
The 'get your hands dirty' option...
Has anyone tried flashing their phone using the flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/ ?
It Sounds to me like you are facing a software bug that would disappear if you perform a clean installation of android...
What exactly happened? Provide us with more info....
unfortunately, i act in assumption, this is a hardware issue like seen often on the z3c. The digitizer is broken at these positions. it happens often at the home/back buttons and at the pull down menu.
You can verify this by activating the glove modus (hope this is the right translation of the german Handschuhmodus) which indicates, where exactly you are hitting the touchscreen.
- fix is to replace the touchscreen.
- workarounds are to activate display rotation (and then rotate so that the buttons are appearing at the upper (right) side of the display
- activate the glove modus - i can actually still hit the buttons at their corners
-use the "Back Button" app to generate additional menu buttons.
- move the buttons with Google ADP tools
(i'm actually not allowed to post links, google for it in the official z3c Sony support forum)
Did you ever resolve this? I've come across the same problem (running stock Android 7.1.1).
Went through all reset procedures, safe mode, screen tests etc.
Seeing the same result as you - this area of the screen works fine when locked, but when unlocked it's unresponsive.
I've done a full factory reset on it, just to determine if that'll fix it - no luck.
I would love to know more about why this is thought to be a hardware issue, when the hardware concerned works fine to unlock the phone.
My next step will be flashing a custom ROM, see if that fixes it. Any other hints / tips / clues / suggestions more than welcome!
