Yes. Thats true that titanium backup doesnt work if placed in external sd card. There is no way to fix it. It only work only when you place it on internal memory
you can set the titanium backup to read your backup from external storage by opening preferences and select backup location or something like that.
But before that you must use kitkat sd card full access xposed module.

Hi , recently i have brought 8Gb Memory card . I have Apps on my old 4Gb memory card in EXT -partition .i want to store them all on new Memory card with A2sd How can i do it ?
Why don't you just back them up with Titanium and restore them on the new 8gb SDcard?

Do this, or tar them all up by shell and then untar to the new card.

Hi
i just rooted my sgs2 and i got 16gb external sd card, i have seen lots of good apps and i want to install them but before that i have read that some people recomend to install apps2sd to save space on the phone but other said that with that amount of space you dont need to install this app, also i readed that some roms dont support the app, so its good idea to install apps2sd???
I really like apps and i will check 3 or 5 roms. If its a good a idea, should i install first, before any other app??

I don't know apps2sd.
But it sounds like it moves your apps to the external sd card.
That can also be done with stock Android system: Setting > Applications > SD card.
Then click on the app you want to move and say move to sd card.
I had some apps on my external sd card, but some apps are loaded a little bit later/slower, when they are on the external sd card.
So, I recommend that all apps, which you need very often and especially direct after booting the phone, should stay on the internal sd card.
And after flashing some "early" ICS Rom versions, I lost my apps which were on the external sd card.
I had to re-install them from Play store.
But this was only an issue of some ICS ROMs/kernels, and should be fixed now.
Anyway, that caused me to move all apps back to the internal sd card.
I just want to be on the "safe side" ;-)
you should absolutely not install app2sd (the app of that name), because the functionality is already present in all roms.
in settings -> apps you can move apps.
however, in contrast to the previous post, apps are moved between the /data/ partition of the internal sd card and the /sdcard/ partition of the internal sd card.
as you might know, /data/ has 2GB, /sdcard/ has about 12GB. You can check on your current storage space occupation in settings -> storage.
if you have enough free space on data, leave your apps there, as sdcard is a universal storage space, that can also contain music, photos, videos and so on and since this space is also accessible to users that are not rooted, it is more versatile and therefor more valuable.
Since both partitions are on the same sd card, you don't have to worry about speed differences.
After moving some apps using apps2sd I had to restore a nandroid because it messed up my system.

great i wont install apps2sd, but now what kind of files or info is recommended to be in the external SDcard?
I have on the external sd card my movies, music, photos and videos recorded with the phone camera, my titanium backup folder, few custom rom zip files, nandroids etc.

^Ditto. Keep your media and big files on external SD, keep your apps on the internal app memory if you can (its around 2gb in size, unless you go over that there is no need to put apps on SD).

Pretty much a obvious question for most people . Do install it ! It moves apps to SD ( wow ) , clearing space for many many other stuff . So , why not install it ?
Thank me if i helped ~
well iam fully loaded an my opinion is the app notifies u wen u install a app,but on the hard core side wen many apps r moved to sd ,ive crashd sometimes..i think it was better if there was a option to store apps directly on the ext sd card instead of phone or int sd card...
Try GL to SD from the market, posted a threat like this a month ago and someone recommend me this.

Hello guys ....
i don't know if that's the right place to post ....
anyway , i'm using the cm10 v0.32 of badadroid , i wanted to install a lot of apps and games
but the space is very low , i'v tried to swap between SD cards with a flashabel content but no thing happened
and my external SD card just disappear .
Have you tried to move them manually? Some applications show me 0.00kb (in phone memory) and when it is moved manually on SD card everything is fine .
Just Change Vold.fstab ..
why you not ask to CM10 forum?
maybe they will fix it..
Hello Seniors,
I have some questions (basic newbie) if someone can clarify
1. Moving apps to SD card on rooted phones means - apps will be moved to Internal SD (USB Storage) or External SD card? Howto find the path?
2. If I move apps to SD card, will those be purged while I make wipe data+wipe cache+dalvik+Format System procedure to flash a new ROM? Or it'll remain in SD and catch up back when the new ROM is in?? Big confusion
3. What does a Nandroid backup normally take? Would it keep ROM+ Apps in System Partition or just the ROM?
Apologies if questions sound weir, but hope some can throw sense on it

1 - for phones having intetnal sd- apps will be moved to internal sd..
for phones without internal sd - apps will be moved to external sd..
2 - if you do flash a new rom, all apps irrespective of whether they are on internal storage or internal sd will get deleted.. you need titanium backup to backup and restore apps+ data..
3 - nandroid backup means backing up your rom+ apps.. the backup is stored in sd card.. if you restore the backup, all your current apps would disappear and everything present in the nandroid backup will reappear

Thanks for the answers Syed, clear to the hilt
I believe similar matters have been discussed but I could not find a concrete answer.
As you all know A116 has Phone Storage (0.98GB); Internal SD Card (1.76GB) and External SD Card (mine is 20GB).
I want to swap Phone Storage with Internal SD Card as I have massive issues downloading even small apps. Phone Storage is currently showing 60MB available.
I have unrooted the phone using farmaroot and I have tried to play around with vold.fstab using ES File Explorer. What that (swapping sdcard0 with sdcard1 in the script) does is swap Internal SD Card with External SD Card. The Phone Storage issue still persist.
Could anyone help, I believe the solution could be -
a) Swap Phone Storage with Internal SD Card
b) Re-partition Phone Storage and Internal SD Card, combine them and make just one partition.
Thank you

I guess u meant "rooted my phone".
Also the method u mentioned swap internal memory with external memory(i.e memory card) but doesn't touch phone storage
but thanks to awesome kaydee we have a solution

I have myself used this mod and my phone storage is now 2.5 gigs isn't that awesome
But make sure u follow each step and don't forget to do nandroid backup as u vl b losing all ur data :good:
All the best!!
@Sana_Khan,
If you need more /data space just repartition your device, there's a tutorial on how to do it in the apps section.
Also something is using your memory there in a weird way, there should be 600MB left, where are they? Check through /data with root explorer what's occupying all your space there...

Hi GroovyG thanks for the response. It is indeed weird as by looking at the pic I attached I should have 600MB left. But I believe all the operating system files are stored on phone storage and that seems hidden. This sounds logical to me as well.

Thanks. Yes, I meant rooted my phone. I will give it a shot but it does seem very complicated process. I will need to arrange a windows machine as well as I have macbook. Is there a macbook based software solution you are aware of?
I am surprised there isn't an easier solution to this.

As of now I don't know any mac-book based software but i would say u really give it go. U can run windows on a Virtual machine or could borrow ur frnd's laptop. Actually, only flashing tool available for CHD is spflash tool which is on windows but, if u know any mac based flash tool than u can do the same thing with that too.
Also the process is not at all difficult if u read through his post...don't forget the checkout the comments it might help u sometime
