Anybody else have this problem? Recently, my phone stopped showing the City and State of incoming and outgoing calls. It was a very minor feature, but it was nice to know who was calling me from where since everybody in college has a different area code than mine.
i belive that was your trial of "city ID" program, preloaded onto your phone by AT&T.
city ID is a pay service..

cityID was a 2-week trial. You should've gotten popups notifying you of that fact.
I never noticed this on my GS II, but I didn't run stock for long.
Now that you mention it though, that was one of my initial observations after having the iPhone, you saw city and state for incoming calls.

My phone is 3 weeks old and it's still showing City/State and no sign of a popup. Maybe they made the trial longer?
If you reflashed to a new ROM it probably reset the counter.

Yepp you should definitely try TrueCaller. It's a free global caller ID with city ID aswell.
You can get the APK from truecaller.com from your phones browser
I quickly switched to a free app to do that job. I'm using Mr. Number at the moment. I have no complaints with it. When a new number calls me, the app checks everyone else's contact list to come up with the caller's name. when my dentist called, the name that someone else used on their contact list showed up in the notification.

I'd be really worried if that's the case. Check your AT&T bill carefully. You may accidentally accepted the subscription and start paying for the service with a monthly fee.

It'll work on stock. Also you would need to go to www.truecaller.com to download the apk. It's not available in the market.

It seems as its not free, just a 7-day trial then you pay $6.99 one time fee to continue using it for certain countries (US is one of them)
Here is a snippet fromtheir terms of use page
Users in the following countries will need to purchase the application for continued use after the 7-days trial period is over:
Canada Denmark Italy Norway Sweden United States Austria
Users in other countries will until further notice be able to use the application 100% FREE OF CHARGE (except for any data traffic costs from your operator). A user license to TrueCaller costs $6,99 (ONE TIME FEE) and entitles the holder a non-transferable, non-exclusive and unlimited term right to use the application on the device downloaded to without any further subscription fee, or any other purchases needed.

I jinxed it! I got the phone on the 6th but TODAY the CityID popup appeared. So maybe it's a 22 day trial. ;-) Anyway, certainly wasn't 2 weeks, at least not here. I made sure to click NO.
I actually went ahead and signed up for it. $2/month and now I know who the hell is calling. I know overall the TrueCall thing would be cheaper, but its integration on the calling screen just isn't as slick.
Also, I used a jig after I rooted, so I got like a full month for free!

OK thanks for that. We need to change that. It was a trial app in the US before but now our Android version is free everywhere.

* it only pops up when you receive a call.
* if you ignore or press cancel or back button, it will go on in trial mode for a few more days.
Mine poped up on the first call on the day 14.
I thought of that but I looked and I'd taken numerous calls over the last few days.
Hmmm....does the trial begin when the phone is first put into service or when the first incoming call is accepted? That's it -- looking back I didn't answer my first call until 10/14. All the rest I let go to VM.
Mystery solved, 14 days it is.
u guys might love me for this not sure but look what i found!! city id for free lol

Hey,
Just looking for a bit of assistance and please excuse if this is the incorrect place. I'm currently getting a Nexus 5 from the play store in Australia and was wondering about payment methods, the reason behind this is because:
a) I'm not in a supported County of the play store
b) I own a debit card
While I know play store accepts debit cards this doesn't help much. So iv managed to get hold of a friend in Australia who will get the device for me when it comes available again and I'll sort out my own private shipping from him to me. Anyways my main question was:
What would be the best method to get my funds to him? Iv got plenty options like PayPal the funds to his account which he can then use his own debit card to pay for it or would a Google wallet transfer be a better option? Last one is it possible to purchase from the play store using his (the Australian friends) Google wallet?
I'm trying to make the process as smooth as possible since he is really helping me out, I don't want to back door Google and go via a VPN when I can try resolve this easy with a simple question.
Regards and thanks in advance

you can use western union, they are every where and can transfer within the day
.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
Western Union charges. Paypal is instant and doesn't cost anything under a certain amount if I'm not mistaken. I've used PayPal to xfer money to friends and it works great. They don't even need a PayPal account. Once you send a payment to an email, they will get an email to open up an account to collect the money. Also the android app works really well for personal payments, not to mention that you can get a debit card from them that costs nothing and gives cash back on purchases.

When I got my Note 3 they signed me up for the Jump! Program for 10 bucks a month! What garbage, it gives you device insurance with a $150.00 deductible and Lookout mobile. I got insurance from squaretradeDOTCOM for 125.00 for 24 months coverage($5.20/month) and only a $75.00 deductible. The 'locate your phone' that Lookout provides is already free to any Android 2.2+ device. Just go to Settings/Security/Device Administrators and check the box for Android Device Manager, now you can locate, ring, or wipe data from any browser by going to https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
I am NOT paid by Squaretrade or Google. The 24 month plan is only for phones purchased within 30 days though, it's $7.99/month for older phones.
Note: This may not be the good for those who want to trade in their phones early though, I prefer to keep my devices so it works for me. Anyone know if the early upgrade option is tied to this?
Yup. Early upgrade is the entire point if the jump program. The insurance just an added bonus.

2 years ago I had an S3 and used its 50gb Dropbox promo to add 48gb to a preexisting account. Can the same account be used to take advantage of the S5 50gb Dropbox promo to add onto or renew the original S3 50gb Dropbox Promo?
I haven't been able to get any of my new Samsung devices to renew the Dropbox promo, but them again, my original one hasn't expired just yet.

It didn't work for me either but my S4 promo still has a year and few months left though too.
I did get the promo for the S4 a second time on another account though when I handed it down to someone else to use as an upgraded phone, so that was cool.

Are you saying you were able to get the promo twice with the same phone by factory resetting and signing up on 2 different accounts?

Yup. I was surprised even though they may never likely come close to using that much space anyways.

Yeah I created a new account and used a shared folder to migrate my data from my old account into my new account. It was super fast, just move your files from your old account into your shared folder and copy them out on the other end through your new account ^.^
I claimed the 50GB (48GB bonus) Dropbox promo on my rooted AT&T with T-Mobile's Dropbox OOBE last year. When I got the S5, I tried to do the same with the S5, and discovered that the expiration date did not change/increment. I investigated, and found this:
https://www.dropbox.com/help/297/en
The first Dropbox account that signs in to the app on the device will get 48 GB of free space (assuming the other conditions are met). Each account is only able to claim this promotion once.

I recently exchanged my S5 for another through warranty (long story, don't ask), and on the new handset, I just signed in with my wife's account, granting her the extra 48GB for 2 years. Works for me, because we share a lot of files back and forth using DB. I then removed her account from my device, wiped the cache/data for the dropbox app, and then signed back in with mine. She still has the extra 48GB, and I've got my account back on my device.
I'd like to point out a nice bonus to the whole situation. In the above link, read the Terms near the bottom. Specifically the good part:
When the 2-year promotion period ends, the 48 GB of promotional space added to the user's Dropbox service will be automatically removed. An additional 3 GB of storage space will be added to the account.

I'm okay with a permanent 3GB increase, how about everyone else? I'm currently at 61.63GB, but I'll be at 16.63 when the promotion runs out next year. Coupling that with Google Drive's free 15GB (also has a decent PC app), I currently have enough room (31GB permanent so far) to hold every irreplaceable document/picture/file on my computers in the cloud - synced, and for free.
Really, there isn't a way to renew the 48GB on the same Dropbox account?? That's not nice at all!

Who ever told you that was misinformed. I've had the promo since the S3, and recently my dropbox had expired and dropped down to the usual 5gb when I did all the bonus stuff to gain the extra space. I got the S4, Note 2, as well as the Note 3 during the time, and was told that the promo cannot be stacked. When I logged into my dropbox account when I got the S5 2 weeks ago, I got a notification that my dropbox had been upgraded again to 52gb now. So you will have to wait until it expires, then you can use the same account to gain the extra space.
Now I have 56.5GB on my account!

Thank you for the post, nobody told me that, I read it in this thread, above my earlier post. But that's very nice to know that I can really renew the 48gb, that way I can maintain my files on dropbox.

I've tried that after my promo expired and no dice. I even tried with multiple devices that were never dropbox activated (but valid for the promo).
But when I logged in with a new account (even in my months old Note 3, which had been heavily used in my old dropbox account) it did award me the bonus.
Well I guess I will have to move accounts (and I had 12GB from other promos and stuff). Can't complain. And I guess in two years time, they will be giving much more than that for free.
anyone tried to increase his Samsung Dropbox account with the HTC promotion ?

I've pasted the part of the rules/regulations that answer your question below this comment: I've set in bold the part I think you should focus on.

So, I used Visa Checkout for the first time today because there is a promotion for 2500 points. Does anyone know when the account is credited? From my previous promotion experience, it's usual within seconds.
Have another question. When I initially setup Visa Checkout through the Samsung App, I seemed to have selected the Samsung Rewards card. So on that card's tab, I see Visa Checkout turned on. How do I turn it on for the other card I got in there? (Visa Checkout website shows both of my cards).
Wondering the same as I used mine earlier and haven't been credited yet.

The Samsung Pay Promotions are the biggest joke on the planets I am still waiting on 3 40,000 points for 3 Note 8 from t-mobile. They where issued by Helloworld who administered the program who called Samsung. Samsung never received the points to put on my 3 phones. So do not hold your breath. It is a SCAM and for that reason I switch to Iphone and will never buy a Samsung product again.
^^^troll
Fixed it by signing out of Pay and signing back in. Now both tabs have the Visa Checkout black tab. Also, it seems you can't use Samsung Rewards card to make Visa Checkout purchases if you want promo points. It only works for your own CC.
I am having the same issue- but I have been calling them everyday and also participated in the Verizon discussion. I had to email everything back in it was “escalated” 2 weeks ago. I even called Hello World. They said the promotion was much bigger than expected. Bottom line - I call BS. I am angry at Hello World, Samsung and Verizon. Bad business
I was able to receive 5 gift cards for a total of 200,000 Samsung points. I bought a Sony X900E & One X

I applied so many times with different Samsung accounts, the only bad thing is I had to sign in every account I received the 40,000 points and be signed in that account to use it. I wasn't able to transfer to my original account.
