It would appear that AT&T may actually give a damn what we think about their products and services. I've been an AT&T wireless customer for 13 years (AT&T, then Cingular when AT&T sold wireless to Cingular and then back to AT&T) and this is the 1st time that I've ever been asked to participate in a survey. Looks like they believe that making calls from a tablet is the way of the future (there were a number of questions whether or not I'd buy one and use it as a phone).

Hahaha, that's ridiculous. I had the Note 2 for a few days but switched it out for the Optimus G mostly because of the size (and the screen was pretty poor, white didn't look white). Big phones are really more for women, since they can carry large objects in their purse. I'm so happy I switched to the Optimus G.

I think they're trying to plan for the business crowd. Many people are going to tablets instead of laptops. A tablet that would be capable of video conferencing might be very appealing to the business client, especially if you can use it like Lync and share your screen for video presentations, etc. So don't just think about calling your girlfriend to see her in her undies, there ARE other uses! In fact, a larger tablet size screen would be nice for that too!

As somebody who has some cargo pants and a 10inch tablet, it won't fit.
I got an email from AT&T after I bought the Optimus G asking me if I would mind participating in a survey... they wanted to know how I liked my new Optimus G Tablet.

I have been a long time LG fan, I have the G2, the G Flex and now the G3. along with 2 LG Tone+ and a LG Tone Ultra. but to the point, watching the unveiling show and seeing people unbox their LG's I got really excited. that LG actually noticed the 4K display would hurt battery life, so why not compensate with an extra battery and a wall charger for them. Then i was really excited and waited patiently for it to come to sprint. Then sitting at bestbuy on the day it came out and noticed that we didnt get anything, hell we didnt even get the cheap headphones. WE GOT NOTHING. my question is, WHY? why them and not us.
and after dealing with LG customer service over the past serval days. my impression and love for the company just nosedived. i was given nothing but stupid remarks and sarcasm. and one instance i was even told that i probably didnt have the LG G3. im just disappointed about this whole experiance and how i was treated when trying to get answers.
anyone know why they gave it away to some markets but not the US?
The us carriers don't want us to have them extra accessories so that we turn around and buy them from them

Exactly. It's not LG's fault. The phone also comes with an FM Tuner, which AT&T blocked and Verizon also disabled some features. The carriers are the evil ones here, not LG.
$$$$$$$$$ -- that's why...
Hi,
I am thinking of selling my G3 because I fear the bootloader won't be unlocked. Root is great and the xposed module helps a lot but I would really like to get AOSP. Verizon is blowing it and LG lets them do it.
The phone is awesome just itself but I am getting itchy and want to move on. Anybody else feeling like jumping ship?
Another one!? Be warned, the last one was locked, and this one will probably be too.
note 4 is my device i may jump ship before note 4 get released on verizon
I'm waiting for other carriers to finally push Verizon into opening up their phones a little bit more. We've seen it in two different areas in the last week, first, Verizon had to change their mind about throttling data for unlimited users, and they also were forced to raise data limits for customers on certain plans. All this was simply pressure by other carriers forcing their hand. Don't for a second thing it was Verizons charity, they certainly never give more away for less. This was simply the market forcing them to change.
I am hoping in the future, Verizon follows suit with their hardware. They may have the best service, but that doesn't give them carte blanche to lock their phones down and have a valid excuse. Phones on other carriers are no less secure, specifically have not been shown to be less secure as to Verizons arguments as to why they do it, but what other carriers do get is a much faster update cycle (software), and flexibility with having your phone the way you want it.
I'm on the fence as to the original question - Sell or keep. Hell, my stereo in my car is Carplay ready with the update that came out yesterday for Pioneer, I may just jump ship to the iPhone Plus and be done with it all. I'd sure miss my Android, but ****, if I am locked down and can't use AOSP, then I might as well be locked down and unable to use AOSP and have all the features integrated with my car. I've been an android user for half a decade, and had an iPhone back in the day... Guess we'll see.

I love this phone. Not currently worried about bootloader. I'm happy with root right now. It's a tough call. I hope to see bootloader unlocked as well.
Sell it. We don't need any wishy washy users to have this phone.
For anyone who wants AOSP why not just get a nexus? Even with the unlocked boot loader on my Galaxy G3 AOSP was always buggy so I'm sure this phone will have AOSP bugs as well...

I am tempted to switch from Verizon just to get the nexus 6. Its also about tinkering too

I read somewhere on the internet that Verizon may carry the Nexus 6. But it being a post from the web, I take it with a grain of salt. But that would be cool though.

I saw that to but they also said that they would allow the nexus 7 on their network but did they ever happen? If the nexus 6 comes to Verizon and if it isn't as big as the current nexus 7 you might see one more G3 on eBay

Yeah I will definitely pick one up as well if it does come to Verizon, and if its lower cost like they usually are. Knowing Verizon they will just jack the price up though. Gonna hold out for boot loader unlock or work-around. I am keeping the faith. I don't want to drop this phone and miss out on its potential being met with stock and AOSP ROMs.

My 4 week old G3 is currently for sale on Swappa as well as Craigslist. I like it, but it's not what I want long term. I'm actually thinking of moving on to the iPhone 6 (maybe the Plus). I'm also interested in what the Nexus 6 has to offer.
The nexus7 LTE does run on the Verizon network.
I run my Verizon LG G3 on my T-Mobile 5gig $30 sim mainly, as I have other uses for my unlimited data Verizon sim.

It's fine, I was just warning you that there was another one
I love my G3. It's perfect for a lot of things, and while an unlocked bootloader now would be a bonus, it is in no way a hindrance or disappointment at this stage.
With that said, I am seriously eyeing the reports for the Droid Turbo Verizon is set to release soon. Their last line of Droids based on the original Moto X eventually got root/unlock. A nice plus. But personally, it's the voice actions that intrigue me. That and the added functionality that hardware such as the Moto Hint will have with it, that I wouldn't have while using it with the G3. And frankly, I always got better reception with my old Bionic than I ever did with my Galaxy S4 (which was crap) and the G3 (significantly better than the S4, but still not quite as good as the Bionic was). However, it'll be dead in the water for me if it lacks a MicroSD slot.
Why the Droid Turbo over the Moto X 2014? Battery life, battery life and battery life.
For now, I'd say keep the G3. Even without an unlocked bootloader yet, it is a phenomenal device that readily bests the M8, S5 and Moto X 2014 (due to battery). Does it best the Note 4 though? Time will tell. Personally it does, but that is due to an extreme dislike of TouchWiz.
Sell!

This lg skin is killing me even debloated with Nova...
I have gotten used to the LG skin. Unlike the G2 my wife has, the G3 is close enough to my Nexus5 that I can use them both no problem.
I plan to upgrade my Verizon Note 2 within a few days and research points to the G3 as being the best choice for me. I still have the unlimited plan so I have to purchase the phone at full price and this appears the best bang for the buck. Verizon has crippled the Samsung line of phones in my opinion, but the G3 looks good. Is the G3 a good choice?
I have used a note 3 for some months and I like the g3 more. It feels snappier and is sized appropriately.
The pen is a good feature on the note, but I found myself hardly using it therefore it was almost useless.

Thank you.
The G3 is definitely a great phone. Never had a Note, but for me, the G3 has been the best Android smartphone I've had yet (previously, it was my Droid RAZR HD with unlocked bootloader), but performance and stability-wise, the G3 has been the best phone I've had.
I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 4 that I have cracked the screen on. I wish to fix this, however, the Note 4 displays are like $150+. You can buy the glass separately for like $10 but then you have to heat the edge up to 190F to separate it from the digitizer. Not sure how I feel about that...I might try it though, but if I wreck the phone then I will have to get something new (to me) regardless. Plus the Sprint Note 4 ROM support is pretty bad, there's really only 1 ROM that is receiving regular updates and it runs like crap on my phone. On the flip side I am still paying for this stupid Note 4, at least I got from Sprint for $360 rather than the original $720. So I'm going to have to pay it off regardless.
---or---
LG G3s are now under $150 on eBay, brand spanking new. I had an LG G2 before and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. I was browsing the Sprint LG G3 Android Development folders and it seems like there's still pretty good ROM support for the G3. I could get an LG G3 and just set my Note aside. I would be THRILLED to have buttons on the back again, I really miss that.
OR
I could also do something completely different like a Moto G4 plus but it's more, like $249.
SO
How long are you guys planning on hanging on to your G3's? The size of the audience can drive ROM development, in my experience.
Is the LG G4 really that significant of an upgrade? What about the G5?
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Keep in mind I'm cheap.
