Pros and cons - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of buying SGS6E. Is there anything against doing it? How do u like stock rom? Is it possible to switch go CM or AOSP? Is battery life really that good? Are there any device related problems that do not allow to do something (like S3 one with closed drivers)?

[Q] optimized Kernels

Hi, Everbody
First of all excuse me for my bad English. I was a Galaxy s user until my phone was stolen. I am thinking of buying a Atrix, but before i do this i would love to know some things.
On my galaxy s it was very easy to make modification by flash en that kind of stuff. I want to know if this will be available for the artix to ? Manly i want to know if KERNEL modification is possible for faster, compatible, stable, and good battery life. On my galaxys these kernel modification really made a lot of differences. Other points are :
Improving the display or video and sound quality by modification of kernels.
Universal lagfixes Like changing the file system or something like this.
Brightness tweaks
Adjusted kernel HZ value to increase smoothness.
On atrix, the bootloader hasnt been hacked into yet but it is in progress so no kernels as of now. The problems suchs as lag fix and HZ values I feel are not neccesary on this device but I am sure we will see custom kernels soon enough
Thank you very much. I dont remember anything about bootloader with the galaxy s. Must be the downlaod mode in wich you can flash kernels in to the phone ?
Motorola has locked the bootloader on this device(and many others) so right now custom kernels are not possible and nobody knows when...if ever.
If you want kernels I would not hold out on the Atrix, it has an encrypted bootloader. This will be very hard to hack, but if anyone could do it it's the devs on XDA. If you want something on ATT that will give you lots of development options go for the inspire or buy another captivate. I bought the inspire and i like it alot. But you don't get the dual core and some other features that the atrix has. I guess you gotta just know what you want, either development or better specs. For me I will always go for the development.
I love development , but i also like the atrix. I get the feeling that motorola is not so development friendly. I'll wait a little longer maybe somebody can change this development problem.

first off
this is not the questions section but i will be kind and anwser it before a mod removes it
hardware is good rocking a 1.5 dual core wich is faster then stock sgs2 (wich i also own)
sony's UI is not bad still has some left overs from official ics look but overall it has a good appeal
no phone does not lag even when i have serious multitasking going on never had issues not even on ICS
root does not mean the phone is faster
hope this anwsers your questions
feel free to pm me
COME AT ME MODS
I dunno. I like the XS way more than the SGS2, mostly for design and camera reasons. Sony's UI is not horrible like TouchWiz, though I still prefer AOSP since it looks lighter. There's a bit of a problem with custom ROMs now, but we're quite close to getting a temporary hack while Bin4ry works out a better solution.

[Q] I want to run daydream all day (including on battery)

I know daydream will work when the phone is charging, but I want that feature running all the time, even on battery.
Is there any hack that will allow me to do that?
Are there any other "screensavers" that will allow that to work?
I want to emulate Nokia N9's always on clock+info or Windows Phone's "Glance".
I'm using Galaxy Phones (S2 and S4 mini) and am willing to replace the original ROM for CM, PA, Replicant or whatever ROM supports this.
Thanks for any help.
Note: I know the battery will drain faster. Please don't remind me of that obvious fact. I have my reasons to want this.

[Q] Lost, Stuck and Confused Need Help and Advice - ROM Help

Hello, I have limited Knowledge and am New to ROM/Android.
I have a S3 i9300, and I have Rooted it.
Now I find the phone very laggy and slow ( I had a Moto g and it felt MUCH FASTER) So after some research I think this is because of touchwiz.
So now I am thinking of putting a ROM.
I looked in the ROM Section/Youtube/ and on Here and am LOST on what to do next.
I don't understand which ROM would be best for me?
All I want it is a FAST/STABLE and SMOOTH Phone.
Must be Andriod Kitkat - I want to enable ART.
I don't want crazy features like Pie control/ Touch wiz Ports ETC.
So what do you recommend?
I have heard and seen Cyagoemod. It looks like that is what i want but I am unsure? Will there be too many useless feature for me?
Thank You very much

CyanogenMod is just cool if you want the stock Android experience like on moto g, it have not that much fancy features, it has some but very useful. The only thing you will probably miss if you install CyanogenMod will be the camera quality from Samsung ROMs, in rest is very stable and fast, know from my experience

Question Is the stock firmware buggy?

Okay, I might be pre-biased, but I have heard about Sony firmware being exceptionally buggy even after many updates. (By all means, this is not Sony-exclusive problem.)
Can people still using the stock firmware confirm whether it is acceptable for daily use? How often do you reboot the phone?
I was actually planning on buying the phone with the suspicion that I will have to install LineageOS right away. Is there any experince of running LineageOS on it? Do all the nice features, like 4k screen, work?

Hey there, I hope you're doing okay
Answering your question, yes, upgrading from a stock rom to a custom rom will make your experience a lot better. not only in performance, in battery , and customization
and even better if you root + stock rom, that's it. your phone value will increase because not only can you experience the latest Android 13 but you can also do multitasking work very smoothly
Also, battery consumption will be reduced twice, and you can customize it starting from the icons, status bar, and lockscreen. Not only that, you can also install root modules
i mean, you can also use xiaomi camera app on your sony phone camera
think about it with sony camera and xiaomi camera software
If you can do everything, i will consider not buying a new phone rather than saving that money and investing it to make more money and buy an iPhone, but still, Android is better
I hope you liked my reply
Please like it and follow me. I will be very apreciative. Thank you so much

It makes no sense to install a custom ROM on a phone like the Xperia 1 close to launch. All the unique features of the phone (mainly the cameras) are locked behind the Sony custom API that is used by the stock apps running on the Sony app framework.
So at the very least you will need a Magisk module that ports over the latest version of the app framework to any generic ROM, and then install the stock (camera) apps.
Personally, I find the stock ROM close enough to AOSP that I haven't felt a need to install any custom ROM for the past 5 years now. When you install a custom ROM you are simply trading Sony bugs for things like missing implementations, partial hardware support etc.
There is nothing buggy. It's close to the os pixels launch with, their custom version of AOSP.
Just has a few more apps for camera stuff.
As an owner of the major flagship devices, this is the best all around experience and the best camera.
I recently had a Xiaomi 13 pro and thought it'd camera was best, nah this beats it and the os is leagues better. I have a pixel 7 pro also and I honestly won't ever use it again in comparison and I have the best roms I could build for it.
And as the others have said lineage is not an immediate thing anyone should just flash, and it's one of a gazillion roms and definitely not the first ROM I would flash...
