[Q] Free mobile internet using Facebook ports? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone. I am sorry for my crappy english even if I did not wrote my first sentence yet.
I live in Lithuania and here, in my country my mobile network operator offers free Facebook browsing for everyone. You just turn on data connection on your android and you ready to go. You can do everything you want in facebook completely for free: watch videos, chat, upload something. Speeds are really good (now you can even use 4G if your phone deals with it). If you want to browse youtube or google (or anything else) you need to pay then.
Yesterday I noticed that you can chat for free on "messenger" app too. I think it is because "messenger" connect thru the same facebook port or something (I dont know, im bad at these technologies). Anyways, my question would be: is there any way to use browser connected thru that facebook port or something? So my operator would think I just browsing in facebook while I would browse google or something else? Is there a way to configure mobile or just a browser to work like that?
I not really use mobile internet often, because I have wifi, but this is realy interesting.

Anyone got an a answer ?

[Q] A70S as a mobile phone with UrukDroid?

Hi everybody,
I have a question (or a functionality proposal?) for UrukDroid.
I have a smarphone and an Archos 70IT, but i was asking myself if, with a 3G dongle and some mods, my Archos can do all these things? And if it's possible, how? And if it isn't could I help for it?
Thanks for future answer, and keep up the good work
No, because almost all Data-3G-Sticks have no support for the calling protocols, just data and sometimes SMS...
OK, may be is not all you want... but
maybe yo can... not like mobile, but yes like sip.
with a sip provider, and Fring, you just have got a telephone !!!!!!!
=;-)
@N23, Aouch, so bad, so i can't
So i have to do an app who will allow me to write my SMS with my tablet and send them from my phone (HTC Wildfire)
@julen164, yes, good idea, but that's not what i want :s
if you want SMS service aswell....
voxigo it is a voip service with sms too
=;-)
No, i want to send my SMS from my phone (i'm unlimited ^^)
(I think i'll have to make an app for that, so ... i'll do ^^)
I don't unerstand you.
what you want?
if you want a telephone service + sms service in your A70,
voxigo has an android app, running like a voip telephone, and you can send sms too, with that app, so you have a full telephone (VOiP) in your A70.
If you want to send SMS, with your actual telephone (mobile) number, send it with your actual mobile.
In any case, some other voip services, like voipcheap, can send sms with an associated mobile number as sender id.
what else?
=;-)
I want to replace my mobile phone with my tablet (bigger screen).
But if i can't replace all its functions, i want to write my sms with the tablet (bigger screen again)
Is that clearer?
Just now,
I understand your specs......
I have read again your post...
Now I think I understand your necs...
and maybe this app can help you....
http://es.androlib.com/android.application.pl-androiddev-mobiletab-qEttt.aspx
with it, you can conect to your mobile with wifi, fron your A70, and then use your mobile line, to send SMS....
Thats it, no?
It could do the job, but it's a little bit to heavy.
An home made apps would be lighter, an app that will connect the SMSManager from the phone to the tablet, then i just need an app like Handcent and it's done (that's what i hope, i'll try and see ^^)

there is an app that does sms over bluetooth or wifi I think, but I can't recall what it is or if it works between two android devices or only works between your android device and a pc. I know there's a pc to android tool but I have a feeling there's another one which tethers two android devices to do sms.
Pretty sure I'm right cuz I used it on my hero tethered to my galaxy tab (when I still owned a tab).
EDIT: here it is: http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-grrzzz-remotesmsfull-qFij.aspx
I think it has an http server so you can sms over a web browser (which should, in theory, let you do so from your archos - but not the ideal interface for sure).
PM me if you want to discuss the app further since I have it here.
EDIT 2: Never mind! it requires that the phone and controlling device (tablet) be on a wifi network already. I don't know if it would work with an ad-hoc network between the two since I can't ad-hoc on my a101 yet. So this might not be what you need, but I think it's the closest app so far. someone actually posted a comment about it saying that they should write an android client for it too for tablet use. So it seems you and I aren't the only ones who want to do sms from the bigger tablet screen compared to our little phone screens!
Yes the web interface is not the fastest for that (and Android have something to control SMS, so why not using it?). I think the DIY is the best (and, with that i'll learn more about dev on Android ^^)

[Q] can someone help me with making this app?

hi i subscribed to a site that gives premium access to many file hosting sites by setting up their dns and logging in their web page... this works flawlessly on the pc but on android well it consumes a little of ram to have many tabs open and you have to open it everytime you want to download something so the question is is there a way to make an app where you put your login data and the app automatically logs in the website everytime you connect to the internet? (wifi/3g)
if yes can someone help me making it or can someone (best option beacuse i don't know a single thing about programming ) make this app for me nad the rest of android users that would like this service on their phone? thanks in advice and sorry for my english

Success in using 3g usb-dongle

Hey all, wasn't sure where to place this thread... hope its in the right place.
I plugged in an E1550 3g dongle in the usb slot on the dock. Ran the UMTS Manager app (root needed).
I'm in Portugal, and my 3g provider is Optimus Kanguru. So, for portuguese users, all you need to change is the profile to 'other', and the APN to 'kanguru-portatil'... keep DNS at 8.8.8.8... and just start it by clicking 'Verbindung herstellen!'
The E1550 dongle wasn't supported, but it still worked.
Others from different providers/countries should be able to use it too. Just search for what APN configuration you might need.
For me, entering websites happens pretty fast. I've seen in another thread where a user could surf but not download files/apps etc... I tested that, and yes, apparently the only thing you can do is surf the net, which i guess isn't bad at all.
Maybe there's a tweak to be able to download and use other apps...
Oh, almost forgot. I'm on stock .21 (rooted, but not unlocked)
Edit_1:
The app was updated, and now the interface can be in portuguese! Thanks Jörg Köhler (this app's creator)!
Edit_2:
You can use Mobile Counter App to measure the data traffic of your connection.
Other Info: Tested speed using OpenSignal app, and i got a ping of 319ms, max download of 2mbps, and 0 (zero) upload speed -.-
The things you can do/use with UMTS Manager's connection are:
- Youtube App (or other apps of the sort, like the dailymotion app)
- Surf Web
- Search Apps in Google Play (but not download/upgrade apps)
- Google Maps (but it cannot pinpoint your location)
- Google Earth
- Receive and send mail with the gmail app
(But you can only do it when the app opens... if you want to receive again, close the gmail app with the task manager, and open it again.)
(To send email, just write the mail you wanna send and click send. then you gotta close the gmail app with the task manager and open it again... it will then send the mail you wrote)
- You can download stuff from dropbox using the dropbox app!
That's about it for now... need more testing.
Would appreciate tremendously if anyone knew how to make it so we could download/upload freely as if we were using wifi.
probably only leaves port 80 open (html/web). Might be a way to forward all ports to 80?
My E261 is OK too.
I think all Huawei dongle can be supported, because all Huawei dongle have same AT command.
Thank you very much, sir!
I was trying to find out how to use a 3G dongle (Huawei E153) with my TF201 and your post solved the problem. I downloaded the UMTS Manager, made settings for my operator (Saunalahti Prepaid, Finland) and it works perfectly well
Thanks again, I found your information very valuable.
T-Mobile.mk (my provider) gave me an HUAWEI E173
spend a week looking for answer or "how to" for this
nothing there ...
(double eek) Just put mine Prime to re-charge
Jörg Köhler (the creator of UMTS Manager **root**) stated that it'll work ... so double eager to try this sw
Google Translate gave me
Code:
This is a UMTS stick on Asus Prime Transformer can be used.
As UMTS Stick have been tested, type:
HUAWEI E 160
[B]HUAWEI E 173[/B] [SIZE="2"](that's mine)[/SIZE]
HUAWEI E220
HUAWEI K3715
until I try it my guess is that it'll work
if it's working
Hell Yaeh for @eddymonti (OP) and Jörg
HUAWEI E 173 3G usb dongle from my T-Mobile.mk is not recognizable
any one with any thing .... much appreciated
I was referring to this method particularly http://techwalls.com/gadget/3g-usb-asus-transformer/
probably we gonna need some more experienced users
Not working on Orange Cameroun.
ohh they joy of being an aid worker !
Can't wait to go back to my LTE dongle in Canada !

Compatible with MiFi?
You guys mentioned that it is compatible across all Huawei Dongles. Would that also mean it is compatible with Huawei Pocket MiFis? (ex. Huawei E587). Thanks!

Isn't MiFis like the E587 a portable hotspot? I think that you just need wifi for those. This app is just for usb connected dongles.
Would this kill my att USA unlimited data? ... how are packets sent out....
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
Huawei E353 works
Just tried this and have got my Huawei E353 working but have the same as some previously stated problems.
Browsers seem to work fine and play store browsing but again cannot get some apps to connect.
My wifi is rubbish on the boat I work on, so the extra browsing speed while in mobile range is fantastic!

[Q] Offline pending for share

Hello everyone,
someone knows an app that let me "post" offline facebook status, or some kind of "bank of pending for sharing"???
sounds weird, but what i am actually asking is, something i need:
This is my problem, i use JustReader as my feed reader, i use the offline feature, so when I travel or for any other reason I dont have a internet connection and find lots of stuff in my feeds that i want to share, but of course, i am offline, then I just mark as "favorite" and I say "when I get a internet connection i will share" but then, i have lots of another stuff I mark as favorite and I don't want to share, so i dont do anything...
There is some kind of app than let me store "my sharing stuffs", to post in another time???
Thanks!!!

Question: is there any way to download files via YouTube fake URL?

Hi
I know the title is confusing, I don't know how to rephrase it.
I have internet plan on my mobile contains 20GB of data and unlimited use of YouTube and other social media apps per month. I would like to download movies and big files by illusion the service provider that's through YouTube server or url? So it will be free and not consume from the 20GB!
I know it's stupid, but the idea never goes away from my head. And I don't know how to search about something like that! That's why I wrote this thread to see if there is something on earth near this idea?
Thanks
In case of Mobile Data the signal comes through your mobile service provider rather than your ISP. Hence use Wi-Fi instead of Mobile Data when downloading data.
