My 3vo will seem to randomly not want to work on the data network, yet shows I still have 3G connection. Some pages will load and some background apps will work still...Anyone else have this issue? Maybe I have a defective phone? Just a strange issue I've never had before...

Are you using a temp root? I've found that every 2days or so i have to redo the temp method because I can't connect to data services.....reboot and It's fixed.

I'm having the same problem and I haven't used temp root 4g is fine. While I'm on 3g is when I have problems

I have theses problems to but my wife evo 4g is fine smh
Had the problems prior to using temp root...Hoped that temp root would solve it, but no dice.
Not sure if I should exchange it...Might be a hardware issue if not everyone is having the problem.

Call sprint and have them reset your data connection after a profile and prl update.

I had this problem and I did all the tricks listed in these forums... Nothing helped permanently. I ended up returning the 3D.
What browser are yall using? Even without temp root I have issues with FireFox.

I'll try calling them, thanks.
This is really annoying because I love the phone, but if I can't access the internet when I want to, I'm going to have to return it

my tethering seems very unreliable. im using the latest wifi tether apk but thats irelevant as i have used many versions but the problems persist. allow me to explain, im in no way new to android nor tethering. i have followed all the steps to get 4g tethering speeds ( toggle data off, disable 4g re enable and so on) the thing is i cant get a stable connection from my laptop or my xoom for more than 20 mins. the connection either goes idle or the phone just restarts or i simply get disconnected from it. im just wondering whether it' s just me or whether this a common problem among photon users. many thanks and great forum.

I believe the 4G on your phone becomes idle. Just a guess.
I have heard this happens to other Photon users as well. Not sure what the cause of it is or the fix. I'm going to try some things out when I get time and see what mine does. I've never tried to tether for that long of time before. Will post back if I find out anything new.
**I can only test 3G. No 4G in my area.
Are you rooted or using a rom?
**Ignore this (my) post...had something but changed my mind***
thanks. yes rooted & stock

i can torrent nd get bout 10+ mbps download running through tether for 3 hours no problem. could even get on gears of war on my xbox while tethering no lag no problem
favorite tethering app- open garden tethering (easy and you can lower the transmit power for huge battery life increase, i keep mine on the lowest available) but wifi tether if i need specific settings

Also if you start wifi tether first,

4g tether works for me using
wifi tether 2.06

My coworker has the Galaxy S II and he's flashed his phone he was able unlock the hotspot that already came with his phone. I was wondering if anyone has been able to do the same for the MoPho and if so could anyone possibly give me the link for this software.
You have to root.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA
Well I do have root.I need a wifi tether that isn't running in ad-hoc mode but infrastructure and the only one I know to do that would be the phone's own hotspot already installed but need to be unlocked
That's weird cause for some reason the phone's own hotspot won't work for me at times, but the app does. Sorry I can't help then.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA
Thats because the hot spot on the phone is ties in with sprint, you want wifi tether, just google it, and a custom kernel

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I can't keep my wifi off.
Every time I turn wifi off it gets turned back on by itself.
I'm sure I'm just being a complete noob and missing something.
Stock unrooted latest update.
Was ok before update.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like Sprints "Connection Optimizer" here, I think there's a way to disable it, but I just deleted the APK from the system folder, are you rooted?

Settings>connections>more networks> mobile networks> connections optimizer then uncheck the box.

Awesome thank you folks. Knew it would be something simple.

After you uncheck it, if you're rooted, use TB to freeze or uninstall so it never comes back to haunt you. I've been freezing apps until I decide if they're fully safe to delete and that I'm sure I won't want them.
Not Sprint but note 3 having the same issue
My phone is not sprint. I'm using an international version of note 3. And having the same issue. Could you please help me with that?

Connections optimizer isn't onlyfor Sprint. Fix is probably the same, but might be named differently, but similarly.
I'm on nc5 trying to install giigles 4.4.4 rom in safe strap it will boot but nothing works no network connection!! Any ideas???

I wouldn't know about GPE ROMs as I haven't touched AOSP-like ROMs in a long while (since my N4 days), but you might need to elaborate what you mean by "network connection" here. Is it the cellular network you can't connect to? Try checking your SIM, maybe. Is it WiFi that you can't turn on? You might need a modem zip to flash, but not sure if that's the case with GPE.
With the GPE on SS, it was stated in the original thread that WiFi was not working as of yet. The OP got Verizon 4g working, but you had to change some APN settings first. Did you do that?
You're talking about this thread?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734775
Yes the apn settings in the post once saved do not show on the list. I actually had wireless working but not 4G and no way to make calls.

So did you use the NC2 or the NC5 modules? I've been following that thread as well, and am hopeful that they'll help me escape TW. But until they have a solid method I'm not risking it.
