Hello everybody,
I have an Acer V370 (dual sim) with stock Android 4.2.2 and rooted. I find very usefull to have the toggle widgets on home screen, to quickly switch WiFi, Sync, Data, BT, Sound, etc.
As the stock "Power control" widget is not configurable (as far as I know), I installed Power Toggles from PlayStore and it worked very good until now... Now I have the problem, that I cannot switch on the Data, when I "push" the switch, it becomes orange for a short time and after that goes back to gray (dimmed, switched off). I tried following things, without success:
- delete app data (through Manage Apps, etc.)
- uninstall and re-install the app
- checked again if the app is installed in internal memory, not on SD card
As I had no success, I uninstalled Power Toggles and installed Extended Controls app from Store, but it behaves exactly the same!
Could it be a problem in the OS? What should I still try now?

Those of you who miss not being able to tap the the task bar in 2.2 (like you could in 1.6) can install an awesome app that lets you open most important quick settings from the task bar by sliding the task bar down. The app is free, its called Quick Setting (by Sergey Shafarenka). Just slide the top task bar and you will see the option for quick settings, then tap it and you will find: ringer, volume control, bluetooth, wi-fi, gps, mobile data. battery meter, and brightness.
If you prefer separate icons, you can try Status Bar Switch by friedflow for wi-fi and bluetooth - both free. I found them first but now that I learned about the Quick Setting App - I may just use it for everything.
Anyway, try it and let me know what you think.
i just tried it, and it looks really cool, specially together with his other app the battery widget which is cooler than the battery widget i had.
Only one thing missing, the option to be able to turn on airplane mode keeping wifi on
+1 for Quick Settings. Ive been using this app since my X10. One of the first apps I installed on my Streak, and couldn't live without it.
Up! +1
I've been using this excellent little app for 3 weeks already. It even give the shortcut for LED flashlight (given you configure it properly) so no need other 3rd party app for flashlight which may or may not work on our streak.
You can even customize what kind of settings you wanted to show, including GPS, mobile data, autosync data, wifi hotspot, airplane mode, auto rotation (yay!).
Edit: i show this to my friend and now his satisfy with it in his desirez
Great Find
Must have app!!!
Thx
Coupled with Visual Task Switcher (for mutli-tasking switch), my streak is finally user friendly
Whenever anyone asks about stuff running the background and how to kill it, the responses always include - "don't worry about it" - Why not? Why should I be ok with the idea that a program that I downloaded, but never ran, is running in the background?
People don't say its 'ok' for all of those apps to be running in the background. It just depends on the type of app before you start to worry. It's 'ok' for some of those apps since they may do some sort of service which is required by either the user or the system.
Another thing to remember is that Android will manage running apps by itself, so when necessary it will kill apps to make sure it has enough available memory to run stuff that you manually start up.
If you'd rather be in control of manually killing running apps then I'd recommend a free all-in-one app called ZDBox (available via the android market):
ZDbox is an amazing all-in-one toolbox. Five stars in xda forum.

Since you don't need to use them, why you download them?
Well, I think the free all-in-one app is a good choice.
there are lots of apps functioning like that
Because google loves to spy on us.
It's ok because it's how you get a lot of functionality from some apps. Some Widgets for example need to update regularly (while you are on the homescreen at least) so that you get the latest information.
A well written app will only update / run when necessary (using the AlarmManager class typically). Too frequent updating will cause problems with battery life, none at all will cause out of date data being shown (e.g. for my Awesome Widgets I have to update my clock widget very regularly while it is being viewed in order that I can update the clock time (and weather if it has changed)).
It's not about spying, it's about getting functionality out of your Android device.
All the best,
Ash
its just bull****! sory! i have had bRIA take up like 40% of battery even tho i never ran it and i thought it wasnt running ... had to uninstall it... android for sure is great in some areas but definately not perfect, and pls dont tell average users about startup managers etc.
lol nice rant
Hi guys, i've got a problem with my new prime.
At first display was switching in homescreen as well as in all apps e.g. market or google maps, however since yesterday it won't switch and yes the auto switch option in the settings is checked.
But the funny thing is gyroscope works fine in games and i can switch the display in google maps, and then e.g. landscape view is kept for all other apps too.
Tried checking/unchecking auto switch in settings, reboot etc but still won't work, so anybody has a solution in mind?
Running ICS 4.0.3.11
Have searched for this for some time now and no one seems to have my problem. I have a Blu Life Play running 4.2.1 and Lockscreen Widgets are enabled and work.
When I installed Dash Clock, I don't see the option for selecting it in the widget list for the lock screen. I only see the stock widgets and a few for other apps installed.
On the home screen, I can get the settings widget, allowing me to change settings and manage extensions. But in the lock screen, the widget is no where to be found.
I tried changing the security settings, used every option available for security, none work.
Any suggestions?

I have the exact same phone, and for me Dash Clock is Working. However I had the exact same problem as you at the beginning. Here is what I did.
Uninstall everything related to Dash Clock from your phone
change your default install location to INTERNAL STORAGE (Mine is always on External SD, this is why it does not work)
Install Dash Clock and all the related extensions that you need (on the internal storage)
Set your default install location back to External SD (Since our phones only have 4GB of internal storage)
Restart you phone and you should be able to see dash clock listed on the widgets
Hope this helps.
The reason for this is that some widgets do not work when they are installed on SD cards.

You are awesome! It worked. Never thought of that. I thought I tried everything. Now I have options for other widgets. Thanks a lot
Hi guys,
I have the SD RN4 and I am super happy with the phone.
the only thing I don't like is the notification delay.
I followed (I think) all the steps on the internet (battery saver turn off, lock in recent apps etc but I still don't get notifications from Gmail, ebay, Facebook etc..
do you have any suggestions?
thanks
enable autostart for that app in security. and even if problem is not solved make that app system app.
Those apps are already in the Autostart.
but, how to make those apps system apps?
